George Clooney is renting himself out for money, he’s already made $540,000

It feels weird to have an awards season without George Clooney and a “Clooney girlfriend” on every red carpet. Clooney made some appearance in November and December on behalf of Gravity (he had a small part) and August: Osage County (he’s a producer). But the awards shows have been Clooney-less, except for that one amazing joke Tina Fey and Amy Poehler told at the Globes (“’Gravity’ is nominated for best film. It’s the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.”) While George has been promoting The Monuments Men, he’s been asked about the joke, and he said it was “well-crafted” but that Tina and Amy “poked the bear” and they should expect retribution. That sounds sexy.

But I do have to say… I’m still surprised that Clooney hasn’t picked up an official girlfriend yet. He and Stacy Keibler broke up what? Six months ago or more? And still no official girlfriend, and he probably won’t get one until this summer. He likes having an official for summers at Lake Como. For now, though, Clooney is renting himself off for $$$. It’s better than it sounds:

He’s worth every penny. Entries for a night out with George Clooney have already raised more than $540,000 and counting.

Omaze.com is offering the winner and a friend flights to New York and a hotel, a chance to hang with Clooney backstage at “David Letterman,” a walk on the red carpet at his “Monuments Men” premiere along with Matt Damon and Cate Blanchett, plus a day of pampering before meeting Gorgeous George.

Entries cost $10 or less and are open until Jan. 30.

Funds benefit the Satellite Sentinel Project, which monitors the Sudanese border and hot spots to detect and deter crimes against humanity.

Clooney has worked to shine a light on the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and protested against president Omar al-Bashir.

Holy crap, it only costs $10 and they’ve already raised $540,000?! That’s really amazing. No shade whatsoever, that’s a really cool idea and it looks like George found a clever way to meet new ladies. HA! I wonder if the person who gets chosen will be some dark-eyed, leggy beauty. At least they’ll have a meet-cute to tell their friends.

Here are some photos of Clooney and Hugh Laurie in Valencia, Spain – they’ve been filming Tomorrowland all week in Spain. I barely recognized Laurie without his Dr. House scruff. I bet Clooney & Laurie are having a great time together. At least I hope so.

I feel the need to enter this contest, and I’m not even a huge Clooney fan.

    • V4Real says:

Well I already live in NY; can I still enter?

I’m betting they won’t select a winner from the state where the event is being held.

    • Decloo says:

“Hanging out with George backstage” sounds like it could be a shake hands and say goodbye kind of thing. Despite that, George’s commitment to bettering the situation in Sudan is endlessly admirable. He’s given a great deal of his own money and time to this cause. Adding this contest is another way to put the issue front and center. Kudos to you, George.

I’m gonna hire him to tidy my house. Clothes on, obviously, I’m not much of a Clooney fan either.

  3. lisa2 says:

Aaron Paul did this for Breaking Bad.

George kind of backtracked a bit on what they would actually be doing with him. but I could have heard it wrong.

  4. Green Girl says:

This could be fun! I looked at the website, and you can purchase entries in bulk, too. Because if you have the money, why not spend $200 or whatever in increasing your chance to win?

  5. AnnE says:

I love the wet knee’s, wonder what he was doing to get them wet 😉 !

  6. Lindy79 says:

I wouldn’t mind poking his bear

  7. Hannah says:

I bet he will be great with the person who wins (male or female [it’s definitely going to be a woman, though]) !

    • Kim1 says:

I have a Male friend from Dallas who entered. He may have lied about his Gender though.I wonder what the organizers would do if He won.

  8. Dani says:

Wow $10? I’m down. I might be too young for Clooney but he’ll never be too old for me!!!! (I don’t have daddy issues)

  9. Lucy2 says:

That’s awesome he’s raised so much! I’m tempted to kick my $10 in, mostly for a chance to meet Cate Blanchet (Matt & George too) though I’d probably act like a fool.

  10. Meg says:

where is Hugh Laurie?? I don’t see any pictures of him

    • MollyB says:

He’s standing behind Clooney in the second picture. I think the blurriness of the shot makes him look much younger than he is.

  11. christina says:

    Good for the George.

Let’s face it this is also a ploy to promote ‘Monument Men” Clooney and the heads up must be worried that its going to bomb.

    • lisa2 says:

I don’t really know what the film looks like. But he had to do something t promote it. His magazine interviews came out on time but the film was pushed back. All those quotes before have been well forgotten. So yes this is to promote it to generate some buzz.. Wonder if it works.

      • christina says:

Its a WW2 drama that’s coming out the week before Valentine’s Day competing against the romantic comedies. For a movie that’s coming out in less then 3 weeks there has been very little promotion and advertisment.

They needed to do somthing to get people talking.

    • Lucy2 says:

I’m listening to the book it’s based on now , it’s really interesting, but I have a feeling the movie won’t do very well. I plan on seeing it though.

  12. Jess says:

Am I totally alone in feeling absolutely unmoved by his alleged charms and handsomeness? He does ZERO for me. One of the most overrated stars in terms of looks. Sure, he’s amusing and smart, and I appreciate that he has causes and he tries to make a difference (unlike another incredibly overrated “beauty,” Jennifer Aniston). But hotness/handsomeness? Blech. Anyone with me??

  13. loveisthecoal says:

If this was for a chance to hang out with Cate Blanchett, I’d be entering. George, not so much.

  14. Unbeweavable says:

I wouldn’t enter since I’m not really attracted to Clooney. But if Hugh were up for grabs, I’d get a second job just to buy tickets. He’s my idea of hot. Man, I miss “House”!

  15. elizabeth says:

I’m in college right now, which means I can’t apply.
