I’m transitioning from Oscar red carpet coverage to Oscar party coverage, just FYI. None of these people actually went to the Oscars, but they did come out to party last night. These are all pics from the Vanity Fair party, which seems to be a lot less dramatic than usual. I think VF decided to do their “red carpet” indoors rather than the usual outdoor photo-op. Anyway, here’s party girl Taylor Swift in a long-sleeved black Julien Macdonald. You know what? I like this. It’s not twee, it’s not girlish, but it’s not matronly on her either. It’s sexy without being vulgar. I like the simple hair too.
Emilia Clarke also wore black – this is Balenciaga. Thoughts? I don’t hate it, don’t love it either. And I really like that Emilia comes to LA to network for the Oscars.
Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta. Can you believe this is Oscar de la Renta? It seems… off. I don’t care for the dress at all, but I like Zooey with curly hair. She has great hair! I’ll never understand why she insists on those bangs.
This Sienna Miller photo made me laugh. This looks like old-school Sienna, the one who could go dong-for-dong with Kate Hudson. Boobs falling out of a too-tight Alexander McQueen? Check. Hair limp and unwashed? Check. Pre-partying boozing? Check. Bored with her current date? Check. Yes, our Sienna is coming back to us. ONE OF US, ONE OF US.
Diane Kruger in Valentino. This is AWFUL! I hate dresses like this – just unlined lace doilies with granny panties underneath. Blah. Joshua Jackson looks nice though.

Yeah. We live in a Fashion Police kind of a world, so everybody goes really tame nowadays. Nobody’s a risk taker or an individualist anymore. Where’s Bjork when you need her?!
I know- fashion is SO boring!!! Nobody has their own style, they all wear the perfect combo of dress/jewels/shoes/hair selected by a professional. 🙁
I’ve been saying that all day, lol. It was just one boring, safe choice after another. I was hoping to be stunned (in a good OR bad way) by at least one person but nope…not even Lupita got me going.

I totally agree. There was very little risk-taking last night. Lots of solid color, strapless column gowns and more of the boring nude-color dresses. A disappointment.

Taytay’s shows off her body without showing heavy amounts of skin, which I like. I’ve always had a crush on her so I guess I’m biased lol.
I like Diane’s hair and makeup though. Her boyfriend’s baggy, burgundy tux was awful. Men need to take a page from Leo, George and Bradley Cooper. Well-fitted traditional black tux with black bow tie is the way to go. I can’t stand the black tuxes with black shirt and black long tie.
Taylor Swift is perfect. I like everything on her here.

Zooey DOES have the thickest hair for a white chick. Taylor should take note: it’s time to get all your apparently fake hair back on your head. The dress is nice, but it goes too old and vampish on her, by which I mean that I don’t think she can carry it off. Kind of….Sunset Boulevard.
Sienna would look nice if she got a different belt and pulled the darned top up a few inches.
Taylor looks gorgeous. She is starting to look more sophisticated, finally she is starting to act her age. Unfortunately the haircut is terrible.

I’m normally not a bangs person but I think it works for Zooey.
Taylor looks absolutely gorgeous. Love everything about her look. I also love what Sienna is wearing, and I LOVE her hair and the gold bangles. I think she is always effortless looking.

I actually think Sienna Miller’s hair looks pretty and clean. I wish my fine, thin hair looked that “limp”! I just hate those arm bands. She does look very much over Tom Sturridge.

Wow, Sienna wearing arm bands to the Oscars? Eeewww…..okay, Kruger’s dress is definitely Fug. Taylor Swift is thin enough she can pull off this look well, but wearing maybe a bit too much makeup? She’s young enough, she can also pull off the heavy makeup look. Zooey’s dress, meh…..too cartoonish or something for me, not elegant enough for the event maybe? I lean toward a chic, simple look, nothing too cluttered or complicated, so just saying….
