Penelope Cruz and her sister to design clothing together

Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica are set to design a line of clothing together for cheap retail outlet Mango in Spain. The article says it’s the Spanish equivalent of H&M, but I’ve also seen that chain in Germany. It’s one of those stores that’s full of cheaply made clothes that teens and 20-somethings would wear out. I’ve tried a few things on, but it’s always in vain beause they didn’t fit well and seemed made for stick figures and/or girls who don’t mind wearing super-tight revealing clothing.

Time to add another celebrity designer to the mix. It was announced Wednesday that Penelope Cruz and her 25-year-old sister Monica will design a 25-piece collection for Mango, the Spanish equivalent to H&M.

Not ones to remain backstage, the Spanish beauties will also be the faces of the company’s fall-winter campaign. But what most don’t know is that this not a freshman effort for the acting sisters – they already design a collection of jewelry and handbags for Samantha Thavasa, as well as own a store, Amarcord, in Madrid’s Salamanca area.

I guess it might not turn out so bad. I’m not a fan of H&M, either. To me those are the type of clothes that always look better on the hanger and end up being dissappointing one you try them on.

Header picture of Penelope and Monica, who UrbanDK says “has a touch of the Eva Longoria gone right about her” from their appearance at the premiere of Monica’s movie The Inquiry at the end of February. Monica Cruz, 30, is an actress and is well known in her native Spain. Thanks to PopSugar for this picture.

Before even reading the article I thought Monica looked a lot like Eva Longoria.

Just wanted to point out that I actually like Mango, and I wouldn’t necessarily compare it to H&M because it’s definitely not *that* cheap – Mango has some quite expensive stuff, and it offers some absolutely GORGEOUS, beautiful stuff, especially dresses and blouses! Most of my jeans are from Mango, and they’re the ones fitting me best..

It seems like the perfect retail store Penelope Cruz could design for, it’s definitely close to her style =)

I agree with angelika, you kinda got a bad tip about Mango, it isnt nearly as cheap as h&m, and the quality has proven to be muuuuch(o) better ( i luv H&M prices, but only acccessories outlive a season). And some their dresses and coats are always luvly!

Mango has great style and fabrics that fit well on every person, especially the jeans, no other jeans fit better or look as great. And no the prices compare to H&M are not as high, however H&M clothing are made out of cheaper materials and fabrics and do not look or fit as good.

So is Monica 25, or 30? The lines around her eyes make me think she is closer to the 30 mark.
