Kaiser pointed me to these photos of Jennifer Garner in a loose black Maxmara jumpsuit at the Draft Day premiere in LA yesterday. Garner is co-starring with Kevin Costner, who plays the lead, a general manager for NFL’s Cleveland Browns who is trying to figure out which players to buy and trade in the draft. I watched the trailer and came away with little to no understanding of what the movie is about beyond a pro football draft, but I’m not the target audience. Garner plays some kind of team management bigwig and she’s also Costner’s love interest. There is little to no chance of me ever seeing this.
In terms of Garner’s fashion, it’s great that she switched it up with a playful pantsuit. The leather belt on the waist is a nice touch and I want that lariat necklace. This is different from her usual, somewhat staid style and I think it looks great. She could have had the pants taken up a little on the bottom though, they look like they’re dragging on the floor. (Update: Garner is wearing a necklace by Melissa Kaye Jewelry, a bangle by Dana Rebecca Designs, and rings by EF Collection and Graziela Gems.)
I really like her loose beachy hair. The bangs are a bit thick but she did get them for a role and maybe she’s growing them out. Her other styling is pretty and I like her makeup. It’s just enough for a premiere but not overdone. Garner does look a bit botoxy to me, but maybe I’m not used to see her made up.

There has always been something about Garner I just don’t like. I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what it is. Is it how she has been rude in the past about her marriage to Scott Foley? Her sanctimonious attitude about the paps, yet trotting out the wee ones when it suits her and Affleck’s wholesome family purposes? Is it the fact she is a horrific actress who still gets roles and press? Is it the fact I suspect that she is a gross, non-bather??????
I know for me it was when she did a interview for Marie Claire years ago, after her oldest daughters birth and still doing Alias. The interviewer was Chris Connelly, who is pretty high up the entertainment food chain. They were to meet in a restaurant and Jennifer was at the counter giving her order and Chris taped her on the shoulder to introduce himself, he said his name, and to say she was cold is an understatement. He was shocked because she was suppose to be this sweet person that was welcoming to everyone. He then went on to say that he was the interviewer for Marie Claire and then she was all smiles and aw shucks. She did not even know the name of the person that was interviewing her. Needless to say, he wrote that in the story about her and I don’t think she had done a cover of MC since. That is when I started thinking that the mirror has two faces.
I’m incredibly and awkwardly stand-offish until I feel a connection to someone, so I get that reaction. If it were me, I would react to a stranger the same way, especially if I was preparing for a work commitment and an unknown person came up to me. Once I knew the person and the context, I would warm up immediately. Its a social ineptitude some of us have : ( I envy people who have social ease (and I can fake it really well, but it is exhausting)
I have been called aloof many times, when I feel that I am being friendly and engaging. I do not fault her on that situation. And yes, I imagine many people’s mirror has 2 faces, especially if your job requires you to be perceived a certain way. As a teacher, I behave and represent myself in my community differently than I do in mind or a friend’s home.
I can’t really blame her for that. I wouldn’t turn around with a big smile either, and I’d imagine for a celeb, you never know what you’re going to encounter. I think she ‘s had some stalker issues too, so she might just be generally cautious.
The ones who are all smiles on camera and then a nightmare off are on thing, but that incident doesn’t sound out of line to me.
She was heading out to an interview. Did no one on her staff inform her who was coming to interview her. The fact that MC did not have him edit that and that she has not returned for another feature is very telling. She is an example of someone who will always get a pass in everything she does.
Lucy2, that was my thought, too, that her first reaction was likely defensive and cautious vs. flat out cold and unfriendly.
I don’t think she should or does get a pass for everything, and maybe she was rude to the guy after that, who knows. But if the assumption is she’s awful based on her not being friendly until she knew who he was, when approached in that manner, I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt a bit.

I think she looks fantastic, especially in that first pic. Her hair looks great! The outfit is, imo, meh. I think she looks great, but it’s not really because of the outfit so much.
Love the look, but love her hair even more. Can any stylists here tell me what this process is called? I have a similar shade of brown hair, and I’ve asked my stylist for everything from ombre to lowlights to achieve this look, but it never seems to make a difference. Is this balayage?

Why do you have no problem with it? I guess there is a chance that he’s told her that he doesn’t like going to premieres, unless he has to i.e. his own…..but still. I would be upset that my husband has no issues with me going to his premieres, supporting him–but won’t do the same.
It would be different if she didn’t go to all of his premieres, support him—she was just in ‘Dallas Buyer’s Club’….I think I only saw him at an after party at the Oscars….why can’t he support her stuff, but she can? Unless you want to go with the argument that she likes being seen as the wife of Ben Affleck, Oscar winning actor and director.
If anything, based on that–we can say they have a Goop/Martin relationship–are together for the kids, and have an ‘open’ marriage….
Like a lot of hollywood marriages I’m sure they have an arrangement like Goop and Martin its a win win for both of them Garner gets to be the wife of an A list actor/director and Affleck gets the cute girl next door wife to white wash all the rumors of his cheating and getting drunk and high.
I think the same. It would be nice if he did go to her things. I also would like him to talk about her as an actor not just a mother. She had a film nominated for many awards this year. I just don’t recall him talking about her. She was all over the place with him while he promoted ARGO.

While I concur that both women don’t seem to have aged in the past decade, I stop at giving the credit to Ben. Good genes, lifestyle & luck. Not a Garner fan in terms of her work, but she seems like a decent person and is blessed with natural good looks.

She’s actually super cute, a natural beauty, although she is mostly seen with her kids, wearing jeans and very plain clothing with no makeup, but when she wants to dress up, she looks amazingly good!! And she’s another top female role model for women!!! Ben REALLY got lucky with this woman, and I’m sooooo glad he didn’t screw up and marry Jennifer Lopez, eeeewwww, that would have been a VERY bad decision.
