Yes, but legal and socially acceptable are two different things.
Legally the age of consent is 18…but socially, it is 21. People go through a lot of changes between 18 and 21 plus there is that whole going to a bar and having a drink thing.
A friend of mine in his 40’s was dating this guy who was 20 — and he was lying to everyone and saying that his new boyfriend was 21! He was like, “Why am I lying and adding a year to his age? How on earth could adding one year matter?” I told him that it was because he didn’t want people making fun of him behind his back for dating a 20-year-old.
The whole thing was very silly, but my friend’s behavior was understandable – in adult social circles 21 is the informal cutoff for acceptability, not 18.
Maybe in America. Age of consent in UK is 16 and 21 has no particular significance here.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that their age gap is creepy. If a 19 year old woman was dating a 40 year old man, everyone would be freaking out.

Maybe I should be bothered by the age diff, but I kinda don’t care. Strange how some age gaps bother us and others don’t. Amber Tamblyn and David Cross for example don’t bother me.
That was what I was thinking too–I don’t even know which one is which, and they look to be around the same age, to me.
i don’t have a problem with it. sure, it’s a big age gap. they might not have much in common in the long term, but that’s their business. they’re both adults and they look happy together.

Also–I have a question for all of you celebitches who had kids young……what was the hardest thing about it, besides having a non existent personal life/time for a while? I’ve been thinking, that in a few years, when I finish all of my schooling, that I want to at least start fostering one kid.
I’ve already gotten a taste about what it is to be a mom (sort of). Me, my mom, and my dad started taking turns weekly cooking dinner. The first time it happened–oh my Lord. I was basically in the kitchen from about four to ten (it was my turn to clean up), and when I woke up the next morning, I thought that I had run a marathon. My arms, shoulders, back were all sore.
