I’m sorry for the crappy quality of these photos. Even though George Clooney really, really wants us to know every (sketchy?) detail of his courtship and engagement to Amal Alamuddin, they’re pretty good at not being photographed in the traditional coupled-up pap-walk ways. Aw, that makes her special. Usually when Clooney does a Girlfriend Rollout, she gets pap’d right away and we have lots of photos to go along with the stories. Not so much in this case.
Anyway, these are some (blurry) pics of Clooney and Alamuddin out to dinner last night in Malibu. They had dinner with Bono and Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford. I wonder if Cindy is mad about getting dethroned as Clooney’s Forever Crush? He probably still has a crush on Cindy, but Amal is sticking around to keep it in check.
The Daily Mirror had a new story about how George wooed Amal, and we haven’t heard some of it, I guess. We already knew that Amal played hard to get and she refused to give George her phone number. So first he e-mailed her. A friend told The Mirror: “It was all very tongue in cheek, but it got the ball rolling.” While Amal liked George’s tone in the e-mail, she still waited a few days to reply. And then just a few months later, he proposed with a ring that apparently set him back $600,000.

George isn’t dumb by Hollywood standards. He’s actually rather bright compared to the rest of Hollywood.
Yes actually. The University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University. He was a broadcast journalism major. He wanted to follow the footsteps of his dad. Then after working as an extra in one of his cousin’s (Michael Ferrer) films, he dropped out and moved to Hollywood.
It probably went into SPAM and she didn’t even see it. When she did she panicked and feared she’d blown it. LOL!
Not to try and bash you, but I honestly don’t understand why people think that an educated, hardworking woman (who presumably earns a ton of money herself) is simply with George for the money. Or exposure. I think that it’s degrading to women just to say, ‘oh! he’s got more money and exposure than her (while she is well off herself) and so she’s with him because of money, etc’. Same thing with George Lucas’s wife. They met at a charity meeting (whatever they’re called)–where she had to give a speech–George Lucas really liked the speech (and her), and he asked to be introduced to her. She’s an educated, beautiful woman in her early forties, who married George Lucas–apparently because he’s rich. Even though she works HARD to make her own money. Same with Amal.
I mean, I can see a different side to why they got with the two Georges…..maybe because they were having a hard time finding a dude who would want to date someone with a busy schedule like theirs, who had more than half a brain, and weren’t going to be intimidated by how much money they made (especially if they made less).
But I just find it completely degrading to say that these women who have clearly put more than their money’s worth in their education, are clearly accomplished, beautiful women–who are great role models for young girls–are only with their current S.O’s because of money–like they have a history of going from rich dude to rich dude.
In what universe is he considered smart enough for her? Maybe it’s time to stop believing the hype about him.

How easy do you think it is for a smart, successful, beautiful woman to find a man who makes her laugh, is dynamite in the sack, has truckloads of money and can offer a lifestyle it would take her a lifetime to attain on her own (if ever). Even if he does fall short in one area like smarts I would think he more than makes up for it in many other areas.

You can be a smart woman and still be an idiot when it comes to men. You can also be successful and be “starstruck” and want to travel all over the world with a handsome, rich dude who appears to be your Prince Charming on a white horse. I hope that GC is happy and I hope it lasts. But I think it’s crazy when people get engaged when they’re still in the “honeymoon” phase of the relationship. At this point she probably still thinks it’s cute that he snores. Pffff …
I don’t think GC is a dumbass … and you don’t need a college diploma in his line of work. I’m GC’s age and I don’t have a 4-yr degree; I went to the “school of hard knocks” and did all the crap that I wanted to do so I wouldn’t have regrets when I got older. Now that I’m “older” I have a successful company and I’m glad I chose the “f**ck college” route and experienced a lot of things and took a lot of jobs that educated me more than 4 years of college could.

Enough with the “leaked” info about how he got her! I’m really starting to question this relationship. I personally think the initial roll out about the engagement was too much. So what, are we going to hear every freaking detail leading up to the wedding?! I’m really no longer interested.

I still can’t get over the comments from his PR people about how he finally met a woman on his level. People seemed to cut him slack on that because some PR flac put it out there. He has made repeated clarifications and statements about the Steve Wynn argument and if he wanted to clear up that statement he could have done so too. He is the one who chose to date all of them. No one forced him to so basically he is just insulting himself for choosing the women to begin with.
The whole thing with Amal just seems off to me. She seems like an educated accomplished woman but deciding to marry him so quickly after his history should give her plenty of reasons to take it slow.
I agree. He dated all D-listers whose careers were on the periphery of the celebrity world, except one who was a cocktail waitress. He has plenty of women who were doing more with their lives or had more interests in line with his own no matter their careers. He dated Renee Zelweiger privately and others I’m sure. But he mostly chose the women he did, because they requested nothing from him and could fit into his life which was his main focus for years, building his career up, going into producing, directing, screenplay writing, his humanitarianism. I think he was with Elisabetta purely because he was hot for her and he was in italy a lot anyway. So now he’s blown away by an accomplished woman with her own life and ideas and has interests more in line with his own. I think it was just the right timing. If he had met her even five years ago it wouldn’t have lasted.
But the comments coming from his team are offensive to women who he chose to date. There’s no reason to insult them like this. They all seem nice, just not very interesting in interviews. I did like Lisa Snowdon a lot, who is 40ish now and has carved out her own little career in the UK.
A D lister would be like Kim Kardashian. None of his girlfriends were ‘D listers”. They were women who were just not famous. Including Amal. I don’t think Clooney would jeperdoize his A list status by dating C, D and F list women.
I thought he dated – and maybe was engaged to – a law student back in the day. She was French and quite lovely. Wasn’t he with her for years?
Celine. She was 23 when he met her. I’ve read she was a law student or pre-law while working at a restaurant. She dropped everything and moved over here and moved in with him. She never pursued her education over here and played housewife. Her interviews were all about making a home for him and she came across very young and adoring. How he woke up in the morning to have breakfast with her, blah, blah. I think she taught pre-school once while they were together and he was gone a lot. Then she tried modeling, etc,, the usual Clooney girl deal,and stayed in the U.S. when they broke up trying to be in the entertainment business. She turned into another D-lister of his basically. She dated some artist over here after Clooney. She eventually went back to Paris after her try in the business didn’t work out. I think she got married to someone over there and lives in Paris with one child. She was very pretty and sweet.
Celine was actually only 19 when she moved here and she was in “Pre-Law” as an undergrad. She was 19 and he was 39…as usual. This one is 17 years younger…I guess he’s moving on to more “mature” women–at least she’s not 20 years younger than he is and he doesn’t look like her pervy uncle like he did with the last one!

Mila and Ashton have been anything but quiet or private. They literally have daily pap shots arranged over on DM. At least with Demi, Ashton kinda kept it on the red carpet. I really didn’t see much of them on the daily pap tours until he got caught with the chick in the hot tub. Whereas with Mila, it’s every. freaking. day. Or are you seriously going to tell me that there are hordes of paparazzi just waiting for them to visit Ashton’s sister in Slidell, Louisiana? Yes two or three shots were from fans and their phones, but the rest were professionally taken.
And that whole wearing her ring for two months? Um no. She didn’t start wearing the ring until that infamous visit to The Grove, also known as, the most papped outdoor mall in Los Angeles/West Hollywood area. Splash News (I think that’s the photo agency of choice for her?) and X17 practically have daily photos (though she gets really pissed when those photogs take pics of her). Plus, she forgets that there are fan pics of her on twitter, also not wearing the ring.
I like that she dresses how she wants and isn’t all of a sudden being called a fashion icon and aware of everything she wears or is given to wear by her new A-lister fiance’ (cough cough Katie Holmes) the second she’s linked with him.
Another day, another exploration ad nauseam into the latest relationship of the World’s Most Private Celebrity, a man who rails against the intrusion of paps into his personal life, who refuses to discuss anything beyond his work and politics, but wants us to know every excruciating detail of THIS relationship. Can’t wait for the real reason beyond all of this to finally emerge. Is George going to throw his hat in the political ring, or will he be implicated in some scandal? Whatever the case, this 180 in attitude in terms of using his private life for PR is very deliberate (as is everything Clooney does) so we should know soon enough.
I’m almost 40 and I have T-shirts like that – from my younger days and some given to me by others as a goof. I wore them at home even just a few years ago, but now I can’t. Maybe this was a surprise party? She looks like she was lounging in her Malibu beach outfit or PJs and threw on a sweater or a jacket to go to brunch.

About the ring, not to be mean and it is his money . But for a guy who is into humanitarian work and woman who is this great international human rights lawyer ,you would think they would not want to spend that type of money on some ornate and in your face engagement ring and spend on let say -finding those girls who have been kidnapped in Nigeria. Next time Georget gets preachy about saving the world, he should take the ring and sell it. I hope she isn’t planning to take a trip to Darfur with that ring.
It probably wasn’t meant to be funny…but your last sentence just made me laugh sort of hysterically. That’s what annoys me the most. I have no doubt that George has his “human right moments”- but at the same time, he is completely inconsequent in his personal life. Splashing out that amount, and then making sure everybody can make a clear picture of it. Sure, it’s his money, but is it needed to show it off like this? Does it make the relationship more valuable, or serious? I don’t think so.
The only reason those pictures in People magazine came out when they did is because I believed George knew then that he was going to propose to her, that he wanted us to know that he was serious about her and possibly wanted us to get use to the idea of him finally getting remarried.

Well Rande’s pretty much his BFF, and we get photo’s of them because Cindy’s still worth something to the paps. When they hang out with say, Richard Kind, the paps will only photograph George and Amal.
Why do people say she’s “at his level”? She’s highly educated and he’s not. If anything, he’s beneath her intellectually and professionally. He’s an actor, his work is not that important.
GC may be best known for playing make-believe, but he’s also been Oscar-nominated/won for producing, directing AND screen-writing and I’m struggling to think of any of his contemporaries who are so accomplished.

This is very much Clooney’s traditional girlfriend roll-out. There were no blurry pics or bad quality photos of the two of them in the onslaught of pap pics that came before this. The photos in Tanzania, the Seychelles, LA, and New York were crystal clear (and beautifully lit).
I don’t know if she played hared to get or not.No one really knows for sure but what ever she did it clearly worked.
She didn’t play hard to get, she just agreed to play the game with him.
His entire relationship history can be found in a goggle search. If we assume she’s intelligent instead of giving her an intellectual pass because she’s educated, she would have played hard to get longer simply to assess how serious he was. If a man wants you he’ll pursue you until you relent or make your disinterest clear. The stories about their courtship doesn’t sound like George put in a lot of effort or substantial time before she folded.
This is not an unusual behavior for older men. They always treasure the very much younger women in their lives.

I looove her t-shirt! It looks fun and neon colors are the latest fashion. Not all women in the world are americans and not all of us want to wear beige, grey and black all the time. She is a middle eastern and I guess, like us latinas, they like vibrant colors over there too. I find her extremely pretty and with a cool sense of fashion and I hope she and George found in each other a companion for the rest of their lives.
