Amal Alamuddin thinks George Clooney is ‘a bit chubby,’ so she put him on a diet

FFN_Alamuddin_Amal_FFUK_051514_51412239

Here are some photos of Amal Alamuddin, out and about in London on Thursday. Her outfits just keep getting better and better, I think. But I’m always partial to an olive-skinned brunette in jewel tones. I thought the bag was Marc Jacobs at first glance, but CB says it’s Balenciaga. It’s a beautiful bag – and it costs $1700 or more retail. Did she buy it herself? Or was it an engagement gift from Clooney? Now that I have a better sense of Amal’s style, I’m thinking that she’s a purse person and not really a shoe person (yes, the heels on these shoes are clear plastic, like stripper heels). Also: those sunglasses are badass. Like, vintage Jackie O badass.

There’s been some hand-wringing about whether or not we should cover pap photos of Amal and whether we should talk about her fashion. I don’t know, it seems that she’s actually enjoying the attention. Second of all, she seemed okay with George Clooney’s Fiancée Rollout, complete with a photoshoot of The Ring, and getting pap’d for being George Clooney’s official lady is part of the deal. Meanwhile, Life & Style claims Amal thinks George is getting a little chunky. She’s putting him on a diet!

Amal Alamuddin has some strict diet plans in order for fiancé George Clooney, leading up to their nuptials later this year.

“Amal thinks he’s been looking a bit chubby lately, and she’s determined to have George looking handsomer than ever when he walks down the aisle,” an insider close to the couple tells the new issue of Life & Style.

Besides banning booze, Amal’s also urging George to replace fatty meats and pasta with fish and veggies — but that may be easier said than done since George is a co-founder of Casamigos Tequila.

“George is a longtime vodka and tequila drinker, and he loves a good steak and a big plate of fettuccine,” the insider tells the mag. And while he may not swear off all his favorite foods, he has started hitting the gym regularly, playing basketball with pals and doing yoga to get trim. “George,” says the insider, “will do almost anything to make Amal happy.”

[From Life & Style]

George really isn’t chunky, pudgy, chubby or fat in any way. He’s always been trim, although God knows, the lack of chub doesn’t mean he’s completely healthy. If Amal is getting him to cut down on the red meat and liquor, maybe it’s more for his health rather than weight loss. God knows, George has not been looking like he FEELS like a million bucks. His back is killing him, I’m sure.

She’s got nice calves. I’m jealous.

    • BangersandMash says:

Agreed. She’s amazing, and I’m glad that she’s getting George to health things up a bit.
Now if he were, say 35-38, I wouldn’t give a Tamany f-ck, but time is ticking, 75 is in less than 15 years, and then (like my grandpa once said) it’s downhill from there.

      HAPPY FRIDAY!!

      • Lilacflowers says:

75 in less than 15 years? For whom? Clooney is 53.

      • Happyhat says:

Clooney will age quicker when he gets married. Hollywood physics.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

Holy Bat Shades of Hilaria’s Nurse to Alec B’s Old!

Maybe even shades of a high toned Anna Nicole Smith to J. Howard Marshall.

Amal is all let’s cut up George’s steak for him and put him on a diet. How touching.

    • Francis says:

      Stick insect.

    • piggy says:

Really? I have legs just like her and I almost never wear dresses. Chicken legs. Too skinny, too bony, not femminine at all. Well, I guess we always want what we can’t have…

  2. LadyMTL says:

Hahaha, I have sunglasses that look almost exactly the same and they cost me all of $12. Seriously though, I do love this outfit, with the exception of the clear heels on the shoes. I don’t know why but I’ve always found that clear heels look tacky.

    • Anna says:

She was papped boarding a jet in a pair of printed, multi-color ankle-length wide-leg glorified pajama pants. I dont think she has our definition of tacky 🙂 And I kind of dig that.

    • YummyMummy says:

Agreed. Her shoes are hideous. Why is everyone so impressed by her? So she is educated and has a career as a lawyer. That doesn’t mean she is a better person than an actress. She can’t be wooed by a handsome movie star? Why can’t both of them be lucky to have each other? It seems like popular opinion is he is so beneath her and she could do better. I just don’t understand that thinking

      • nima1 says:

Because people these days will make anyone into something big. I dont get it either.

      • Francis says:

I don’t get the hype about her either.
Still think it’s a contract just a better deal.
A lady with supposedly so much on the ball, wants to get married to a movie star as soon as she meets him? She just sounds as star struck as the others , but knew how to get a better deal. Not impressed.

      • P.J. says:

Amen @Francis. Couldn’t have said it better myself. And if your assesmebt is true, then in some ways she is WORSE than his previously preferred cocktail waitress/wrestler/”model” girlfriends past. At least those ladies were transparent in their intentions and weren’t making a mockery of highly respectable careers by agreeing to be a famous actor’s arm candy.

Obviously I don’t know either of these people, but so much about this totally out-of-the-blue rapid fire engagement hasn’t seemed right…

And if the relationship and/or this story ARE real, then her already starting to tell him what to do-especially with his own body which has done just fine without her influence for almost 55 years!-is not a good sign. (I would NEVER let a dude-fiancé or not-tell me how I “should” look or what I should or should not be eating. And I’m sorry but the whole “a bit chubby” before the wedding thing?? Can you imagine?! The guy and I would be done for before the conversation was even over!)

  3. BangersandMash says:

George needs to health it up!!
    Seriously, he’s not Benjamin Button.

    • Anna says:

George always looked older than his age – and a decade older than guys like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, who are basically his age. Amal’s younger and she probably wants him to last, for/with her, so I am on board with her health initiative.

      • Kiddo says:

In George’s defense, the other two have been tinkering with their faces for a while.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

        Bangers is Bang On!

I think there’s a distinct possibility George is lying about his age. That hoary old chestnut of ‘George has always looked older than his age’ exists because he IS older than his age!

  4. Etheldreda says:

More of the steady drip-drip of cozy stories about how in luuurve Amal and George are. Aww!

Seriously, how long are they going to keep this up? When the engagement story broke, I shrugged it off as PR damage control and reckoned it would never happen. But Clooney’s people are making such a big deal of it, he’s really going to have to marry her now, isn’t he?

    • Madi says:

Yeah, but was it really an insider or did Life and Style see the gym equipment a few days ago arriving at Clooney’s house then after a little pow wow around the coffee machine an “insider” suddenly appears and says this? I know they feed the public stories, but I also know that a lot of these “insider” stories are made up so people either buy their magazines or click their websites.

    • kri says:

Erm..she’s okay with the attention. Clear plastic heels, people. The only way I would allow those shoes near me is if Jennifer Jason Leigh Single White Female’d me with one of the heels.

      • tealily says:

In her defense, I tried to buy heels in London about a year ago and I swear that was 85% of what all the stores were stocking. Is this a thing, London? IS THIS A THING?

    • Tooby says:

I don’t think that it’s Clooney’s people tbh. I think it’s the media finally getting to laugh at the shoe being on the other foot. They found a more equal relationship between Clooney and one of his girlfriends and they’re going to delight in talking about all the sacrifices that Clooney (for once) is making now that he’s with a STRONG woman.

It’s basically the plot of a romcom.

  5. Jegede says:

From afar I thouht that was Nigella Lawson

    • moon says:

thank you! i thought i was the only one who saw the resemblance

      • Francis says:

She looks like that dude that won Eurovision Song Contest this year. Nigella is sexy, this lady George is with lacks sex appeal and body is way too boyish to be even considered in the same league as Nigella, who reminds me of Sophie Loren.
I don’t get the hype with this lady George is with.

    • Hmmm says:

Conchita is a lot prettier than her, please!

    • Suzanneg444 says:

Nigella isn’t nearly as striking…especially when she smiles….Amal has her hands down…on looks…skin color and legs!!!

  6. Talie says:

Yeah, I don’t think she’s bothered by the attention — and not in famewhorey way. I just think she knew the score and made peace with it.

  7. Anna says:

Anyone who can afford to take cabs in London will have no problem buying a Balenciaga bag.

  8. Penny says:

Is this going to come up every time she wears something expensive? She has a very well paid job, she can easily afford her own designer bags, no reason to think Clooney’s buying her this stuff. I’ve followed a lot of cases she’s worked on so I saw her pictured outside court a lot before she started dating Clooney. She’s always had very nice things.

Clooney is already very thin, thinner than most pictures let on. I could see her wanting him to cut back on drinking, but not because she thinks he’s ‘chubby’.

  9. Cody says:

Yes our daily dose of the girl who captured George’s heart. Maybe it is part of the prenup to get in shape. Anyway, it is too late for George’s liver from years of abuse.

  10. bettyrose says:

Crunches, facials, hair dye… that boy needs to up his game now that he’ll be appearing in public with someone so out of his league.

  11. Boodiba says:

I think he looks a little pudgy. I bet he’s got total middle-age man spread going without his clothes on. Nicely cut, expensive clothes (especially for men) cover a lot.

  12. Belle Epoch says:

She’s already trying to change his lifestyle and appearance? He doesn’t look good enough to walk down the aisle with her? I think she is made of twigs and she sounds completely overbearing for a brand new fiancé. Good luck, George.

    • FingerBinger says:

She’s such a horrible person for wanting him to eat healthy and ease up on the booze. Burn her at the stake. Since “she is made of twigs” it shouldn’t be too hard. (Sarcasm.)

      • Esmom says:

I don’t know, I tend to agree with Belle Epoch, if the story is true and I’m skeptical that it is. If her motivation is health, that’s one thing. But she clearly values extreme thinness and health could be taking a back seat to appearance. Who knows.

      • Madi says:

        @FingerBinger – lol

@Esmom – She clearly values extreme thinness? How do you know? She may be naturally thin like Angelina Jolie

      • Esmom says:

Madi, point taken. Although I wouldn’t call either woman “thin” — naturally or not — I would call them “extremely thin.” I think there’s a difference. But like I said, who knows what the real story is.

      • meh says:

If this story was “Jessica Simpson’s dude thinks she’s a bit chubby so he put her on a diet”, people would be peeing their pants.

    • bettyrose says:

Is overbearing code for “ball buster” (which is code for assertive woman). It’s beyond time for a little table turning. If he wants to be with an international career woman, he needs to rise to her level. He’s lucky to have someone that’s going to keep him in line before he turns into a tubby, aging joke dating a string of 30 year old b-list models.

      • Belle Epoch says:

Wow. I didn’t marry my husband to “keep me in line.” And I certainly didn’t order him to change his appearance for our wedding. George is an adult. He doesn’t need a nanny. She can be a ball buster all she wants at the office, but being BossyPants in a marriage is usually considered unpleasant.

This story (who knows if it’s true) would read very differently if it said George has decided to give up booze etc. and she is supporting him in his efforts. There’s a difference.

      • bettyrose says:

Belle Epoch – But your husband isn’t George Clooney, who has spent decades having women beard for him to create a false stud image. Those women may have always known the score, possibly there were no lies, but there was manipulation and I assure you they were “kept in line” in terms of maintaining their appearances for the duration of their contracts. So, this is turnaround is exactly what Georgie boy has earned.

  13. Tig says:

She’s an accomplished attorney who handles high profile cases, so prob very at ease with cameras in her face. She has gorgeous hair.

Re changing GC’s reported habits- he may change a bit at first to make her happy, but unless he wants it, it’ll be shots all around bef too long.

  14. Jayna says:

George has chonic back pain since his injury and surgery. It was so bad back when it all happened he was in a bad place emotionally. I’ve been there before and have much empathy for those who suffer. My quality of life was nil for over a year until I finally got a handle on it with only one really severe flare-up years later that lasted over six months.

George said it’s better now compared to then, but he also said a year or two ago he lives with pain every day, I guess just not milder. I would imagine the equipment was to keep on top of keeping his upper half of his body strong and and strong to be proactive regarding his back. It’s very important to do and does help.

    • ~Z~ says:

Chronic pain SUCKS so much, but eventually, you do get used to it.

      • Nighty says:

No, you don’t get used to it… it depends much on the pain…

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

Oh God. I am so sorry, Nighty.

Intractable pain (IP) is severe chronic pain at all times. Think cancer, RSD, spinal injuries, end stage arthritis, MS, i.e. type pain that is only survivable with the heaviest strength opioids.

CBers, if you or a family member is suffering from IP, Google http://www.foresttennant.com/pdfs/IntractablePainSurvival.pdf for an invaluable free resource that can save your or your loved one’s life.

“The Washington Post explains that drug legalization in Colorado and Washington, along with Medical Marijuana Legalization in many other states has hurt the illegal marijuana growing business in northern Mexico. However, the Mexican drug cartels have been bailed out by America’s drug warriors who have cracked down on prescription pain killers. Prescription pain killers and heroin are both very addictive and deadly dangerous so that legalization would not only put the cartels out of business, but would open opportunities to address the problems of pain and addiction in a medical format rather than the black market.” – http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-05-16/how-marijuana-legalization-america-destroying-mexican-drug-cartel-business

I can gossip about Clooney all day long and may not like his subterfuge, but I have mad respect for the constant pain he’s dealing with.

  15. frisbeejada says:

So he turns up in three months time, looking 10 years younger after a very expensive, very good facelift (for the wedding photo’s) and it will all be due to Amal’s diet and exercise regime that SHE insisted on because of his non-existent chub?

    • vic says:

Hah. Great piece of forecasting! I bet this is exactly what happens. The headlines write themselves. His gloriously happy and healthy new life with Amal. This is an awesome comment.

    • ~Z~ says:

      Ooh, I agree!

    • Beatrice says:

Nice call!! He should use Tom Cruise’s plastic surgeon.

  16. Cora says:

The L&S article is complete BS from start to finish. First of all, George has always been a very healthy eater and a workout buff. Read Matt Damon’s interviews. George does have one big vice and that’s the booze. No woman will ever get George to give up booze. Never going to happen. L&S pulled this story out of their butts – as they often do.

    • The Original G says:

Right? First she tames the wild bachelor by ignoring his emails and now she’s his mommy telling him what to eat so he can look good? He’s been an actor for 30 years. He knows more about it than anyone.

      Definitely Balenciaga.

  17. Suze says:

Entirely made up b*llshit. Clooney is thin, thin, thin – and there have been various stories in the rags about his healthy diet for years and years. I remember one when Sarah Larson was around, all about how she had to learn to prepare his favorite salads because he wouldn’t eat anything else.

If Amal wants him to give up booze for healths sake, well, good luck with that.

But I don’t believe for a minute that Amal is dictating any terms here. I am not a huge Lainey fan, but this is then perfect example of what she calls the “cozy, minivan majority story”. Along comes the right woman and the confirmed bachelor changes his ways for love.

Minus the stripper heels, I really like this ensemble. Honestly, she should go marry someone else. She’s an accomplished, lovely lady. She doesn’t need all the Clooney baggage.

  18. siri says:

I guess it’s just an assumption after seeing fitness equipment rolled up to his place. So they made another story out of it. Because otherwise, I wouldn’t call her smart for wanting to change George. And the booze…he’ll probably limit it when she’s around, but if she really goes back to a fulltime job, he’ll have plenty of chill out time with his buddies.

  19. nk868 says:

all of this pap friendly stuff with george… does anyone get the feeling this engagement is one of his elaborate pranks?!? being so pap friendly and seeing how many crazy stories they will come up with?

  20. ~Z~ says:

So, all this time , he really wanted someone to play hard to get, someone who wouldn’t always say Yes George, I’ll do whatever you want, and …… a mommy?
The whole thing is pretty bizarre.

  21. CityGirl says:

Man, those shoes are bad – really really bad

  22. Amulla says:

He’s a bit chubby because, well, he’s middle aged now. She is marrying an older man, so the chubbiness and probably limpness in certain areas kind of goes with the territory.

  23. Elise621 says:

She is a beautiful, smart, and accomplished woman but we are on celebitchy so I have to talk about the outfit… I just don’t get why people can’t tailor their clothes. Especially ones who can afford Balenciaga. The jacket looks too big and skirt too full. If the jacket is loose on bottom then skirt should be more fitted, IMO. Also the shoes are horrific with that outfit. Love the purse but again not with that outfit. She has a unique style but always seems off.

  24. Kaya says:

“I don’t know, it seems that she’s actually enjoying the attention. Second of all, she seemed okay with George Clooney’s Fiancée Rollout, complete with a photoshoot of The Ring, and getting pap’d for being George Clooney’s official lady is part of the deal. ”

Well, if you’re expecting her to look miserable and hide her face or whatever…

She’s a high-powered lawyer. She’s used to handling crazy attention in part due to her clients or looking happy when she’s probably not feeling this way. I like her.

  25. Sandy says:

I’m obsessed with her! I love most of her clothes, especially when she’s dressed up a bit. She has a very individual, classy style. Plus, her life does not revolve 24/7 with what she wears, or how she looks, and calling paps to take photographs. That said, she does seem dressier in the past few days, so it’s either George’s people, or she’s been working at the office. I hope she keeps it up.

As for George having to lose weight, it does sound like a made-up story.

    • danielle says:

As a professional woman (although not in amul’s league, lol!) I very much enjoy the amul photos as its nice to get professional and not all Hollywood fashion. It’s actually hard to find 30 something work appropriate fashion. I hope she doesn’t mind the pap attention too much and hope celebitchy continues to cover her.

  26. Lexie says:

The outfit could use some tailoring and I’m not crazy about the bag, but I confess I like the shoes. Yes, even the clear heel. It’s a modern touch, and it’s not like the shoes are wild in any other way – neutral color and fabric, no peep toe or platform.

  27. lincoln park after dark says:

It is not unusual for people to go on diets so they can be slim and trim for the big day. I notice a lot of older men, try to get in shape, when they are marrying a younger women, whether they are in entertainment business or not.

  28. Isadora says:

Who knows if this story is true.. But chubby or not, a healthier lifestyle with less booze probably isn’t the worst thing.

HOWEVER nearly everyone is like “yeah, ok” – if it were the other way round, if a man would tell his fiancée to slim a bit down and get a healthier lifestyle so she looks pretty on their wedding day, people would be spitting fire. They would say he’s overbearing, body shaming, trying to force her into his lifestyle choices, yada, yada…

  29. Francis says:

    This marriage is so fake.
Don’t understand what all the gushing is about over her by some.
It’s all a contract, just better deal. I don’t see all the supposed love with these two. It just seems so sterile and fake.

    • joan says:

Then it’s great that YOU have a REAL marriage, along with your tons of money and your fame and your incredible movie star good looks.

It must make you feel good every day that you’re so far beyond George Clooney.

      • Francis says:

I’ll keep discussion on subject of the story.
        This IMO fake relationship,

    • JJ says:

I find the whole PR show laughable, reeks of complete desperation. Clooney is an idiot, nobody will flock to his movies even with a new PR girlfriend every year. And a lawyer being papped every day is not going to have a bigger career but an un-believability issue.

  30. sandra says:

I don’t like her outfit and she clearly isn’t working dressed like that. I find her to be quite average.

  31. OTHER RENEE says:

I’ve seen other close up pics of this outfit and it is too wrinkled to look classy.

  32. Sandy3104 says:

In six months he has to do what she wants…
Run away George, if you can!

  33. Megan says:

How is this girlfriend different from the last three? Looks to me like she’s working the paps pretty hard.

  34. Aqua says:

Just because your skinny doesn’t mean your healthy. My hubby can eat a family size bag of potato chips all by himself and he’s thin. He does know it’s not good for him but he just can’t help himself. Beside I think most people can’t eat and drink like you use to because sooner or later it does catch up with you. especially as you get older.Anyway their is a very nice photo of George in a tux in Shanghai,China in People magazine and I think he look good.

  35. Cora says:

For anyone who thinks Amal doesn’t like the attention, how do you explain all the leaks coming from her side? A close friend of hers has just released more information including the date (September 12) and location of the the wedding – an Italian village (not Como), with celebrations held in London and Lebanon following the wedding. She’s more than “bemused” by the attention, she’s actively fanning the flames. DM has the details.

    • Daffy says:

Attention wh0res (Amal and George) ! This wedding will take for 3 weeks or what ???
I can’t believe how George is making a fool of himself. Amal is worse than his ex-gfs. We never had all this amount of details from his “arm candy” before (her family, friends, firm). Plus all the details from his PR’s team…pfff
George, never say again that ‘you’re a private person’ and that ‘you don’t talk about your private life’ ! NEVER.

    • Suze says:

I know – I like the “she’s bemused by the attention” comments.

This woman is a towering inferno of attention mongering.

  36. GBH says:

Wow, this chick sounds like an asshole.

  37. Side-eye says:

I’ve been thinking about this, especially after these last few media items and the details regarding the supposed wedding date, all of which continue to seem unusually detailed and out of chatacter. My reaction to this media blitz from the beginning has been skepticism, surprise and dismay at the way it appears to be playing out, because I think it it reflects badly on both of them and is insulting to the public’s intelligence. Anytime you’re given the hard sell treatment I think it is a natural reaction to question the motive and even to possibly assume that motive is something ulterior or “bad”. My opinions are just speculation, but I’m starting to wonder if the motive could be related to something besides the “usual suspects” of exposure, political or economic gain or distraction from some image-damaging news. I just can’t make sense of it otherwise. I’m still giving the media blitz the side-eye, but I wish George and Amal peace.

  38. observer says:

She resembles Angie. He has his own now.
