Here are some photos from last night’s CFDA Awards, held in NYC. The CFDAs are like the Met Gala’s more studious, less glamorous cousin. People still show up in ball gowns, but mostly everything is low-key and about the actual awards. You can read about the awards here. First up: Blake Lively in Michael Kors. She was Kors’ date for the event too. I like Michael Kors as a person, and his generally minimalist, classic styles can either be “universal” or “boring.” I don’t have a problem with this beaded shift dress, but I’m not sure the headband works. I get that it’s supposed to look sort of “mod” but I don’t think it really works on Blake.
Here’s Coco Rocha in Christian Siriano… overkill for this event. She looks like Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.
Keri Russell in Rosie Assoulin. I think the idea of this was interesting but the execution is blah. I like the idea of that blue silk being draped within the design, but it looks like someone just added it at the last minute.
Chris Kattan was there, in character as “Mango.” Seriously! Chris was invited by Alexander Wang, who apparently is a huge fan. Wang asked Mango/Chris to help him launch a project for T by Alexander Wang. Cute.

I want Blake’s dress. She looks really cute and the headband somehow with her 1960s styling. That being said, I generally think that headbands should only be worn by 5-year-olds.
I love Keri Russell…wish they had skipped that draping.

I think Blake can look budget really fast. Too much make-up, a tacky dress or other accessorys make her look cheap. I don’t know why, maybe because she’s such a bombshell with long blonde hair, long legs and big breasts. I like her better when she tones it down.
There really is a fine line between pretty and really cheap that Blake has to remeber because of her look. That hair, earrings, and headband thing crossed it.

Her outfit reminds me of Sharon Stone in Casino – first scene she’s in. Blake just needs the go-go boots and she’d be all set. Seriously, I really like Blake’s style. I know, I know. Lainey rails on her and her budget dresses, hates Marchesa, blah blah. I usually think Blake is beautiful, has good taste, and I actually admire not wanting, thinking you need, a stylist. She seems more real and grounded. I do get tired of the open mouth – “O” mouth expression. Stop it please?
I don’t think I’ve EVER said this or anything close to it.. But yeah, Blake looks cute. Maybe even adorable.

I think this might be the first time I have liked an outfit on her. It does scream 1960s mod but it works for me.
I like Blake’s entire outfit (including the headband) and would wear it myself (of course, it wouldn’t look as good on me lol). I don’t usually like her style but this look is super cute.
I’m not feeling the headband on Blake, either. Or the scalloped hemline of the dress. You know what I AM feeling, though? Those legssssssss OMG she still has the most amazing figure.
Yep, she’s stacked all right. But WHEN are platform soles going to finally leave us? They make feet look like horse’s hooves, especially pump-tyle shoes which totally ruins the whole point of wearing a stilletto-heeled pump.

Exactly. Wrong shoes, and throw the bangle bracelets out the nearest window. The Barbie earrings make me roll my eyes but can stay. Then we have to accept this is just budget anyway.
Interestingly, I thought this outfit was a 1950’s and 1980’s combo-didn’t think of 1970’s. Well, her outfit has people talking and that is what fashion often strives for….An ‘interesting’ look creates discussion.

Honestly, she’s not really an actor, not really a model, doesn’t serve in any real role, and frankly always seems a little off the mark.

Blake is lovely, but there is something odd about those colors on her. She has amazing legs though, really awesome. I’ve got total leg envy going on.

She looks better than she should given the dress and the accessories. Pretty young woman with an amazing figure, her makeup and hair look great, and the dress is a good colour on her. But the dress itself… I usually like simple Kors dresses, but this one looks ‘off.’ I’d like it better if it were longer and more tailored with a straight hemline, or a shorter shift dress, with maybe a smaller scallop at the hem. And I don’t like how it’s accessorized at all. Not a fan of headbands, the bangle bracelets and hoop earrings are too casual for the dress (though I hardly ever like thick hoops), and I don’t like the shoes. A pair of simple strappy heels, maybe metallic or with some sparkle, minus all the other accessories, would’ve worked better.

wow; i think Blake looks great! suits her well. This site is *really* not into Blake-lol. The write ups are almost never positive about her fashion or look. I don’t find her as budget as everyone else does, I guess. I mean, I can see that she’s not old school glam as she wants to be, but she doesn’t scream tacky to me, either. She wears clothes well and obviously designers think so, too. She’s quite popular in that world for some reason. She doesn’t put me off at all. I do think she’s a bit bland overall, but I like seeing what she’s wearing usually. I like this sort of 1950’s/1980’s combo look she has going on here….I even love the pink pumps-though logically they shouldn’t work at all…

Lainey hit the nail on the head: my mom would love Blake’s look, which is probably not a good thing for the CFDAs. There’s something about how the whole thing came together that just does not work. And is it just me, or is part of the problem that we’re veering back into ‘too much Blake’ territory?

The worst. The worst! Apparently nobody can identify how a prostitute looks like, she looks really bad. And her body is not as great as evereybody is saying, she is too skinny.
