Brad Pitt was assaulted on the red carpet of Maleficent last week. As I mentioned in yesterday’s Jolie post, it seems like the assailant, Ukrainian “prankster” Vitalli Sediuk, is unhinged and/or really, really gross. Sediuk might have assaulted his last celebrity though – Brad Pitt has put him on notice! Brad issued a statement about the incident, and if it’s possible, Brad made him seem even more unhinged. Here’s Brad’s statement:
“I was at the end of the line signing autographs, when out the corner of my eye I saw someone stage-diving over the barrier at me. I took a step back; this guy had latched onto my lapels. I looked down and the nutter was trying to bury his face in my crotch, so I cracked him twice in the back of the head – not too hard – but enough to get his attention, because he did let go. I think he was then just grabbing for a hand hold because the guys were on him, and he reached up and caught my glasses.”
“I don’t mind an exhibitionist but if this guy keeps it up he’s going to spoil it for the fans who have waited up all night for an autograph or a selfie, because it will make people more wary to approach a crowd. And he should know, if he tries to look up a woman’s dress again, he’s going to get stomped.”
Word. I think Brad is on point – he even seems pretty tough! Pretty Boy Pitt knows how to take care of business. Plus, I like his emphasis on what really bothered him – the fact that Sediuk got under America Ferrera’s dress at Cannes. Sediuk’s “pranks” are just sexual assaults, whether he’s burying his face in Brad Pitt’s crotch or Bradley Cooper’s crotch, or whether he’s trying to get under America’s dress.

i still remember reading about what happened to America. the poor girl. i would’ve cheered if she had stomped him through his face, even though i’m usually not at all condoning violence.

Burying your face in someone’s crotch or trying to go under their dress IS violence, though. If they respond with more violence, that’s simple self defense.

He probably is. But his face is so common and ordinary that he looks so different every time he changes haircut or wears glasses. I think it’s hard for security to recognize him in the crowd.

True. We should have realized this when he tried to kiss Will Smith. Everyone was too busy calling Will homophobic to notice that a stranger trying to kiss him on the lips is sexually assault. If he had been a female celeb that assault would have been taken more seriously and this nutter kicked out of the press line.
Out of curiosity I looked back, and at least on this site, the majority seemed to consider what he did to Will over the line/assault. What’s sad is that 2 years later the same guy is still pulling the same garbage and getting away with it.
I do agree that it should be taken as seriously for men as for women. This jerk went for both Pitt and Cooper’s crotches – that is not OK for men or women.
T.C., I remember people saying Will assaulted this guy! He just gave him a little backhand slap, which was less than he deserved. I remember something similar happened with Blake Shelton…another guy grabbed his ass and he tweeted that he wanted to kick his ass. People accused him of being crazy and homophobic, but my first reaction to getting my ass grabbed is to throw a punch, too.

I said earlier in another post that sometime Celebs let this stuff pass so that they are not viewed as a crybaby. If people before had said enough then maybe he would have been stopped sooner.

I wish they would have let Brad Pitt beat the crap of him. I also wish they would have given Kit Harington the opportunity to stomp on his face after what he did to America Ferrara in Cannes. He looked like he was about ready to but security got there.
I worried that America seemed to feel like she had to laugh it off and let it go and that just broke my heart. To have worked as hard as she has and be at a place like Cannes – what a dream for a young actor! And then to be assaulted by a cretin but feel like “the show must go on.” Horrible. I am usually meh on Brad but he has grown so much in my estimation for laying it down over this guy but making it clear that what happened to her is unacceptable.
I felt the saw way her when I saw the pictures. She look like she was trying to shack off what happen and put on a big smile but you can see in her face she was not ok. I just wanted to give her a hug .
Damn…Those are a couple of nice blows. He’s not swinging wildly, his movements are controlled, but he’s putting his muscle into it. Pitt must have paid attention when he was playing Tyler…or the boxer in Snatch…or…come to think of it, Pitt likes to hit people in his movies.
i always thought those events had super tight security. its very worrying when a guy thats known gets so many chances in a row.
(it could be that he was protect via some press law, but in his cases i think it should be possible to ban him)
those pranks are neither funny nor creative. its just assault. he was lucky none of the security guys overreacted, when you have a super famous client you are under a lot of stress, some of them will even get death threats so they could have used a lot more force then necessary. he could even have been shot.

Brad is right. This dude is not a fan at all. He’s just trying to make life hard for the celebs and by doing so the fans will suffer if something is not done. I say block his ability to get in the country because dude certainly is not all there. You never know, he could do something like murder a celeb or turn against the peasant population.

Well, the pics look like Bradley Cooper was standing with two other male actors (sorry, I forget who) when it happened to him, so it might have been a “macho” thing on his part to try to look cool about it. On the other hand, Angie was also on the red carpet when this guy attacked Brad, and the kids must have been somewhere around. I can see that he’d more readily get into fight mode in that situation.
I think the reactions were different because the circumstances were not the same. Vitalii was part of the pressline or just walked up to Cooper and Dicaprio. It was basically non-violent. Whereas he kind of attacked Brad. Vitalii flew from the stands and grabbed onto him. I think if Vitalii was that aggressive with other stars people wouldn’t have laughed off or ignored his attacks.
I am usually kind of “meh” on Brad Pitt, but after seeing the video and reading this, he may be my new BFF. I hope he presses any charges that he can on this guy.

I’m glad he mention the upskirt thing because although what happened to Brad was upsetting, what happened with America was beyond the pale. And the hell of it is that I only heard about it after the Pitt incident. What happened with America should’ve been the last straw. Yes, there were some years when paps took crotch shots of female celebs getting in/out of cars, but to actually get on the ground and go up a woman’s skirt, especially when the woman was in a press line and potentially focused on something else was completely out of line.
And the fact that this douche didn’t take a serious pause after doing that to America indicates that he is clueless that he went way too far, or he just didn’t care. I’m glad that Brad came strong with this. His kids were there- this @$$hole could’ve tried pulling some $h*t with them, in the name of a prank.

I’ve never been a superfan of Brad Pitt (I like his acting, but I’ve never lusted after him), but I love his statement. I love when a person includes good details when they retell a story. And then he completes his statement with a manly, somewhat gallant threat of stomping. Love it.

Go Brad! I have reflexes like that, and I can only imagine being on guard from the possible crazies they have had to endure here and there. I now see Brad as a total bad ass.
