George Clooney is shopping for French & British ‘love nests’ for Amal Alamuddin

Us Weekly has a story in this week’s issue about George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s (lack of) wedding plans. Sources claim that Amal and George are still deciding whether to marry in Italy or in LA. Apparently, they’re being rushed into things by George’s friends Bono and Rande Gerber, although… I can’t say that I believe George’s bro friends are in any hurry to have him tie the knot. George is their “bachelor friend,” the one who throws the great parties and is always up for a great vacation. George is going to change, bros. Speaking of, Page Six says that George has been looking to buy some real estate in London… and the South of France!

George Clooney is shopping for a south-of-France love nest for himself and wife-to-be Amal Alamuddin, sources tell Page Six. Clooney, who has also been looking to buy a home in London, has sent out a request to real estate agents on the French Riviera for a large house on the Mediterranean Sea.

A source told us, “Clooney has sent a request to real estate agents in the south of France. He is specifically shopping for a ‘house on the beach,’ ” not an easy coup in the south of France, where beach clubs line up on the Croisette in Cannes, while other locations like Antibes are often a rustic climb down to a beach.

“One agent has found a possible nest for Clooney just outside St-Tropez,” our insider said.

The source added of Clooney’s plan to buy a home in London, where eminent human rights lawyer Alamuddin is based and plans to continue working after their marriage, “I guess he hopes the London gloom will be relieved by escapes to the Cote d’Azur.”

The 53-year-old “Monuments Men” star already owns homes in Los Angeles; Lake Como, Italy; and Los Cabos, Mexico.

Clooney is also close to Brad Pitt, who with Angelina Jolie, has Château Miraval in the Var region of the south of France. “Maleficent” star Jolie, who has been engaged to Pitt for more than two years, was recently asked who would marry first, and replied, “Probably George.”

America’s most eligible bachelor officially came off the market when he proposed to 36-year-old British-Lebanese barrister Alamuddin on April 28 after an eight-month romance. She is fluent in Arabic, English and French, and shares Clooney’s interest in political activism.

Sources tell Page Six the pair plan to wed in Italy in September, but they are not expected to exchange their vows at his Lake Como home, which we’re told is too public for the ceremony. The couple are instead looking for a more secluded location. A spokesman for Clooney didn’t get back to us Thursday night.

[From Page Six]

A lot of rock stars own property in the South of France, don’t they? I think Bono and/or The Edge owns a beach mansion on the Cote d’Azur. I think some of the Rolling Stones do as well. Anyway, I guess a French property on the beach would be nice for those times when one is in London and one doesn’t feel like flying all the way to Cabo. Just a humble little mansion on the Meditterranean. And a classic townhouse in London. And a villa on Lake Como. That’s all one really needs!

      🙂

    • Miss M says:

I was having withdrawal symptoms with the lack of new info by their sources.

    • Tanguerita says:

exactly. Now we can finally go about our daily business. But kidding apart – I was wondering: when has Clooney become so boring?I mean there are celebrities you are never tired to read about (Brangelina, hm-hm) and he used to be one of them, but now it’s just blah. He is boring and so is she.

  2. Eleonor says:

This is one of the few things I envy celebrities for.
“Honey I’m in the mood for some shopping would you love a mansion in South France?
    Or you’d rather a chateau? “

    • Jen says:

Hahaha, awesome, this made me giggle 🙂

      • Eleonor says:

Once I’ve read I don’t remember which member of Pink Floyd used to collect castles… LOL

    • LadyMTL says:

Me too! I would love to be able to say “Oh dearie, where do you feel like going this weekend? The Costa Del Sol? Hawaii? Como?”…and then fly there in my private jet. Ahhh, heaven.

    • Meerkat says:

Well, he can have my farmhouse! Special price, George! Not a lot of work to be done to it (haha!). Très rustique! And I’ll move back to a city.

  3. Lori says:

what? He’s not going to be vineyard neighbours with the Brange? in Provence?

  4. Miss M says:

Kaiser, when he married Thalia he spent more time w his friends than he did with his wife.

  5. Cora says:

Total and complete BS on the Page Six story. Clooney has a palatial home in Como, no need for a home in France. I also strongly doubt he’ll buy a home in London. If there is one thing we’ve found out about Amal, she rarely needs to be in London. She’ll follow Clooney around (like all his women do) and when she needs to make a brief trip to London, she’ll likely travel alone (like she did this time).

    • Hannah says:

Exactly. Why would he want/need a property in ANOTHER country. He’s got houses in California, Mexica and Italy. And apparently is going to move part-time to London now. It makes no sense to get a house in the South of France then.

  6. Talie says:

I don’t love London, but I would love to live in one of those classic Belgravia townhouses.

  7. Bridget says:

I havent been clicking on the Amal-Clooney posts in a while, but I did want to say that these two together are just utterly uncompelling. Good for you Clooney, she seems nice. Now stop ramming her down our throats.

  8. Dogmom says:

Doesn’t France have a ‘super’ tax of 75% of global wealth for foreign property holders? Or something crazy like that?

  9. siri says:

I just cured my hangover from too much Muddilooney, but here it is again. Two more properties? I doubt it. It’s probably gonna be one in the UK, since she will want to move out of her mother’s. But it all looks a bit like postponing the wedding due to inability to find the right place to marry, or to live in. Oh, and I almost forgot their busy schedules 🙂

  10. Amulla says:

Why don’t they just live in the USA or Lebanon.

  11. Lux says:

These two are so freaking boring. Snooze. I’m actually missing Stacy wtf.
