Who watches a talk show (with her of all people) on demand?

    • TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

Exactly another talk show let’s hope it goes the way of Kris Jenner and Paris Hilton’s,

    • FLORC says:

I’m about ready to write a nasty letter to Netflix for giving a deal to a terrible person that built a career on adultery, blackmail, and hate.

    • GirlyGirl says:

      What exactly is Netflix thinking?

Also a doc series? Chelsea Handler is a documentary producer now is she?

      She must have come cheap

  2. Tippy says:

I figured she’d get the Late Late Show gig after Craig announced he was leaving.

    • Bridget says:

      CBS squashed that immediately.

      • Tippy says:

CBS hasn’t ruled anyone in or out of contention.

The pool of candidates to replace Craig Ferguson as host will likely be given a 3 night guest host audition.

CBS is said to prefer that a woman take over, but Norm Macdonald has emerged as the current frontrunner.

      • Klaw says:

        Norm MacDonald? YAY!

  3. idk says:

Chelsea acts half asleep on her show. How is she going to do a docu-series and Netflix gig? How is she going to get people to PAY to watch her? It’s not like all of a sudden she’s going to wake up and act like she gives a crap about something.

    • That’s what I’m wondering. Because what really turns me off on her show (and I’m not sure if she always talks like that, or if she really IS bored) is that she always acts so disinterested. Her voice always condescends, to me. It’s like you’re at a dinner party, and seated next to someone you don’t want to talk to or make eye contact with–but you try and be polite and do it anyway. That’s how I feel about her voice.

So how is she going to make it interesting? Because my grandma (well, one of them) is a freaking night owl and watches ALL of the late night shows, and she doesn’t even watch Handler’s show anymore because it’s boring.

      • FLORC says:

Have you ever see her interview Aniston? Her smile beams ear to ear and she seems very alert and excited.

    • lower-case deb says:

i guess she really does have her fanbase, and making a docu-series will draw in unsuspecting docu-lovers who don’t really know her all that much from late night shows. if it’s halfway good, it may “rehabilitate” her career as a serious person.

unless docu-series is just euphemism for online shopping channel.

  4. Abbott says:

Chelsea Handler is a Death Eater. Ugly inside and out.

  5. tifzlan says:

Obvious Child was a great movie. Very funny, very insightful. I highly recommend it!

  6. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

I guess this is why there is that saying you choose your ass or your face.

  7. At least we aren’t forced into watching her badly interview celebs while flipping channels any more. People can pay for the privilege (Or not. Probably not.)

  8. Macey says:

How does she keep getting these gigs? I dont know of anyone who watches her and most of the comments on any articles about her are mostly negative. She must either have some serious dirt on some powerful people or something b/c I just dont get her appeal at all.

  9. Kiddo says:

She looks sweaty and oily in that top photo, yikes.

Everything in the links is revolting to me today.

    • mimif says:

Come on. You know you want to watch Clive Owen in a weird Skinemax project. *furiously wipes off sweat & oil*

    • pru says:

Her hair looks filthy in that first photo. Why in the world would anyone go out in public like that, let alone an event?
I suppose she thinks she’s “punk”.

  10. lucy2 says:

Ugh, Netflix, why? All of their shows so far have been really entertaining, but I have no interest in this. If they want to branch out into talk shows, they should have grabbed Craig Ferguson and let him do whatever he wanted.

  11. Tanguerita says:

you call one of the most anticipated, hugely promising, directed by Steven Soderbergh, TV-projects of this summer weird, because…?

    • Tiffany says:

I know. And TV is were the quality is at right now. Smart for all parties involved. I might have to go back to Cinemax.

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

      +1
      The trailer looks awesome

    • lucy2 says:

I haven’t heard of that one, will have to check it out.
Totally agree about all the quality being series right now, especially cable.

  12. Veronica Knowles says:

I have this gut feeling this will flop. I actually like Chelsea, but E Network put so much money and energy into “Chelsea Lately” – I don’t think this will happen again. I doubt the public will respond to her this time around, since it’s obvious there is some burnout regarding her persona…
My prediction is this will flop, she’ll retreat from the public eye for a while, but we’ll see her in other vehicles over the years …

    • abby says:

      hmmm, I’m ambivalent about this.

Personally I cannot stand Handler and the petty immature side of me hopes this fails spectacularly.

That said, this could totally flop as you pointed out or it could be surprisingly successful. I mean, would she have any boundaries on Netflix? I imagine that she could do and say almost anything provided the appropriate rating and parental warnings are posted to her content. This could really be “no holds barred Chelsea” and I guess some people may be willing to pay for that. I think it depends on how interesting and appealing she (and her writers) makes it.

    • GirlyGirl says:

It’ll flop. On Netflix you can’t hide from bad ratings. They know exactly how many people watch a show and how much of it they actually watch.

  13. Aura says:

Has anyone seen the new blind on Lainey about Book Bitches? Any idea who it could be about?!
    http://www.laineygossip.com/Two-Book-Bitches-blind-riddle/30541

    • lunchcoma says:

The second one is obviously Lea Michele.

I’m puzzled who the first woman might be, though. The muse clue fits Mia Farrow, but she hasn’t written a book recently. EDIT: People elsewhere are saying Diane Keaton, who has a new book out and who fits all the clues, including the “dream girl” (since so many people think Annie Hall was the original manic pixie dream girl) one.

      • Aura says:

Oh, thank you!! Makes sense, although I’m very disappointed if it’s Diane Keaton 🙁

      • lunchcoma says:

Lainey has denied it’s Diane Keaton, so back to the drawing board!

      • GirlyGirl says:

has to be Lea Michelle, she’s a real see-you-next-tuesday

      • Eve says:

I thought the second one was Cameron Diaz — didn’t she release a book recently?

      • lunchcoma says:

I could see Cameron doing that, but I think “Sweet and Sad” and the references to a “chorus” are talking about Lea, since that fits with Cory’s death and Glee’s theme.

      • Sisi says:

the icon has no description for the workfield… so maybe an icon musician?

        Courtney Love? Priscilla Presley?

        I don’t know if they’ve released books recently…

    • lucy2 says:

Ugh – if I was waiting in line and saw the person behaving like that, I’d return their book. They’d probably be crying if they had a signing and no one showed up, but then people do and they treat them terribly? Gross.

    • Sarah says:

The first one is Rosie Perez… apparently she wrote her autobiography recently. Lainey made two hints about blushing so it’s gotta be her and everything else fits.

  14. mayamae says:

You know, I’m a bit of a prude, but I don’t really have a problem with other people’s nudity. Why is a naked Anna Paquin posing with her fully clothed husband on the cover of a magazine? Just as many women watch True Blood to see male butts as men who watch to see boobs.

I’m rooting for Joe Giudice to go to jail, but it’s sad that his father died at his home. The article states Joe and his father were chasing a dog around. From what I’ve seen on the show, the dogs are strictly for security, and are locked up in a smallish kennel. I don’t blame the dog for making a break for it.

  15. Chris says:

I look forward to hearing her views on the French New Wave and Italian neorealism. Should be a hoot.

  16. Tania says:

I don’t know who those two blew to get the cover of People. WTF.
