Diane Kruger is not ‘dainty’: ‘I’m very German – we’re not made out of sugar’

kruger1

I really love talking about Diane Kruger and covering her interviews and her style, but I’ve found that most of the time, you guys don’t really give a crap. So… if you enjoy Diane, give a honk. I enjoy her. She’s not scandalous, she’s an interesting woman doing interesting work, she’s been in a committed relationship with Joshua for eight years and I still find them enchanting together. Anyway, Diane covers some special edition of InStyle. The cover is meh but the quotes are decent.

On stylists: “I started out my career in Europe, in French films, where nobody enlists a stylist. When I first came here, I found that people have a team—the hairstylist, the makeup artist, the stylist—and for a time I did that, but I did not like anything they were giving me. I have a basic idea of what I want, and having a stylist just seems way more fuss than necessary to get dressed.”

Her stylist put her in Marchesa: “At my first Golden Globes, I don’t know why, but I wore a dress, a Marchesa dress. I love Marchesa, I love the girls, and I don’t know why we talked ourselves into this dress. It was gold and my belly was exposed, but I decided to do retro hair—I had a short bob then. It was not a good look, and I think that will be remembered.”

She loves carbs and French food: “In L.A., you’re the devil if you eat bread. Josh and I went to Paris over Christmas, and he gained, like, 15 pounds. The bread! White chocolate! Risotto! Pâté! My friend lives out in Normandy on a farm, and she makes her own foie gras. And then the wine. All we did was eat and drink. It was so fun.”

She wants to live in France (again): “I consider myself half French. That’s where I think I want to raise my children, where I see myself growing old. Maybe because I’m European, their way of life is very close to what I know. I’ve always loved Paris. When I went there it was my first time ever on a plane. From the moment I arrived, I was like, I’m never leaving.”

On being German: “People always think I’m dainty when they meet me, but I’m really not. I’m very German – we’re not made out of sugar.”

Karl Lagerfeld gave her a black crocodile bag: “He gave it to me for Christmas. It’s one of those pieces that is just stunning. It’s so beautiful that I only wear it, like, once a year because I don’t want to ruin it.”

[From InStyle & E! News]

I love the Marchesa story. I think she was trying to avoid throwing shade at Georgina Chapman while still making it clear that she will never, ever wear Marchesa trash again. But like I always say about Diane – she just has that high-fashion look, and even if she’s wearing the most budget dress in the world, she makes it look like Chanel. It’s a gift.

Here are some photos of Joshua Jackson and Diane a few days ago in NYC. Joshua is looking especially good here. For me, I think it’s the beard and his off-duty hair. He looks like a sex machine. Sigh… I wish I spent Christmas gorging in Paris with Joshua Jackson.

    I love her.
She has also a good career as an actress in France.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I love them a lot, particularly my husband Josh.

But this is sort of annoying to me: “In L.A., you’re the devil if you eat bread.

So Josh gained 15 lbs but Diane didn’t? I mean…I love Diane but she is PIN THIN. Maybe she’s just naturally thin but I can’t help but get annoyed when women talk about how much they love carbs yet mysteriously never seem to gain a pound. Just strikes me as really phony.

      I still love them though.

      • Lola says:

I think she might be one of those women who is just genetically blessed. Seriously, I see it all the time in Austria, they eat shedloads of bread. Even if you serve sushi, my Austrian husband’s family will look quizzically at the plate and ask where the bread is. No joke. Anyway, I digress. They don’t gain weight from it! I don’t know why or how, but they eat all these carbs and have flat stomachs. It drives me nuts. I am convinced my genetics must be somehow inferior because I just look at the stuff and gain 10 pounds.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        I’m coming back as her.

      • Josefa says:

I see it a lot here, too. Chile is one of the countries that most eats bread. My sister is one of those blessed women, and I am too to an extent. We both jog daily and rarely eat fried things, though. But bread is one thing I just can’t give up. Perhaps if I moved to another country, but it’s impossible here. Our bread is just excellent. Believe me, guys. You have no idea what an actual sandwhich should taste like.

And on Diane – honk! I love her. Funny I came here after a Blake Lively thread. Diane is a woman who isn’t scandalous at all, but very interesting because of her charm and intelligence. Very underrated as an actress, too.

      • Liv says:

Come on, Germany has the best bread ever! 😉

      • Twix says:

It’s not her problem you gain weight easily, why put your annoyance on her?

      • Isabelle says:

A lot of Germans are tall and thin. It could be genetics. Americans are so mixed we have a little bit of everything so our genetics are hodge podge rather than just this or that.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

@Twix-I don’t recall saying that I gain weight easily but thanks for making stuff up.

Anyway, I wasn’t “putting my annoyance on her”, I was saying that she’s probably not eating bread and carbs all day and staying at 90 lbs.

        Sorry to ruin your fantasy.

      • Myriam says:

        @lola
I agree with OriginalLitten. I’m “genetically blessed”, from my father’s side. I’m still close to the same weight I was in high school and I’m 32 years old. The thing is, I could still develop a noticeable a pooch if I overindulge, but I could lose the weight just as quickly. I I love Diane, but I take it with a grain of salt that she eats carbs.

      • Lady Macbeth (Hiddles F.) says:

I think she is naturally thin.

And I don’t understand the obsession against bread, because I grew up with bread, pizza and pasta and I wouldn’t EVER, EVER, take those things off my diet. Believe it or not, I’ve fat pouches around my hips and backside, but my stomach is totally flat as a surfboard.. and I’m over 40.

I love Diane and Joshua together, I also love Diane as an actress too. She’s way far classier than many actresses in HW. Good job on refusing a personal stylist, because she ‘usually’ dresses well.

      • Kristin says:

Original Kitten, I don’t think you should always assume it’s phony. My whole family on both sides is German and for whatever reason, we don’t really gain much excess weight either. And we eat nonstop bread and dairy. I guess it’s just genetic? I really don’t know, but seriously EVERYONE in my family is like this.

      • Josa says:

I’m Asian and my diet is 70% carbs, like most Asian are (yes, we eat rice, white rice, 2 meals a day). I’m don’t exercise, don’t even walk much. But I don’t really gain much weight regardless. I did start eating less carbs for the past half year since reading how grain affects your brain. I didn’t lose weight either after cutting carb down to 20% of my diet. So I think I can believe what Diane said.

      • Josefa says:

        @Josa

Same here. I’ve been eating pasta, rice and bread practically every day since I was conscious. I’ve never been overweight, but I lost weight once I started jogging and cut off soda from my daily diet. I’m not familiar with German cuisine, but if Diane grew up like us I think this is all perfectly plausible.

      • Godwina says:

Chiming in on the “it may not be phoney because: life for a lot of us” bit. Carbs just aren’t the devil for everyone. I’m turning 44 this month, still tiny, still eat whatever the feck I want. Problems I have (believe me), as we all do, but carbs/weight isn’t one of them. My bad luck fell elsewhere.

It’s madness to judge others by our own example. Goose/gander fallacy, at the very least.

  2. Leigh_S says:

    Love these two 🙂

    • Liv says:

Love them too. They are a very cute couple. Does Josh speak french by the way? There are areas in Canada who do, don’t they?

      • Jedi says:

I think Josh was born and raised in Vancouver, so…not much french out there. We have to take French in school until we’re like 14 so outside of Quebec, some parts of Ottawa and New Brunswick, there arent a ton of fluent french speakers.

      • Lee says:

parts of Manitoba have a sizeable French-speaking population too. But you’re probably right that Josh wouldn’t speak much French.

      • Liv says:

        Thanks for the info! 😉

    • JennySerenity says:

      Seriously, honk!!

I love her. She is one of my favorite fashion girls, along with Tilda, Cate and Nicole.

    • John Wayne Lives says:

Me too 🙂 she’s a lady and that’s a quality I enjoy most in other women.

  3. Izzy says:

Honk! She’s adorable, and always seems to have her head on straight. Love the shade she threw at Marchesa fug.

  4. Senaber says:

She and Josh are super cute. Wonder why he isn’t a bigger star? I guess he is just really happy hanging out with her while she works. Love it!

  5. Londerland says:

I like her and I like them together. Good to see the occasional post about a star who’s low-drama, just a cool chick who looks good in anything. Can’t be all Kardashian all the time!

  6. Truthtful says:

I adore this lady: incredibly beautiful, witty, funny very articulate and talented! She is just perfect!

  7. GiGi says:

I really do like her… but Joshua Jackson Sex Machine? No.

  8. Kiddo says:

@kaiser, “I really love talking about Diane Kruger and covering her interviews and her style, but I’ve found that most of the time, you guys don’t really give a crap”

This really tickled me. Posting here simply as encouragement.

White chocolate, blech. I wouldn’t want a croc bag either. She does look cute in the sundress, although I don’t like the little black bag with white shoes, a color would have lightened the look up.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

      I LOVE white chocolate.

I HATE regular chocolate with a passion. I think it’s disgusting. Worst for me in M&Ms (BARF), Reese’s PB cups (I actually got nauseous typing that-not exaggerating) and fudge *shivers*.

That being said, if chocolate is just a thin coat on something that is caramel, nut, nougat, or cookie-based, then I don’t mind it. Like a Twix bar or even a Snickers.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Or maybe I’ll come back as you. Chocolate is my life.

      • Chris says:

You took the words etc etc, Goodnames!

TOK do you realise how fortunate you are?
It’s your duty to offer some DNA to a handy scientist (try the pub?) so s/he can start working on a superstrain of choc-resistant laydees. Too late for moi, sadly.

      • Kate2 says:

I love white chocolate (although it’s not technically chocolate but I digress). I just wish I was as lucky as you not to be cursed with a love for all chocolate.

      • HarleyB says:

OMG Thank you….for the reminder that I succumbed to a cash regster enticement known as dark chocolate M&Ms. Forgot about them until now….gotta go. Love Diane Krugers style (90%) don’t care what she eats.

    • Kristin says:

Oh my goodness I love, love, LOVE white chocolate! Any chocolate really, but those white chocolate pretzels get me into trouble:)

  9. Texased says:

Her character and her acting on The Bridge is amazing. She plays a police detective with Aspergers. At first, you wonder why she acts the way she does (very subtly) and then realize the reason is her condition.

    • Lilalis says:

Is it the remake of the danish series? If so, I very much recommend watching the original, it is awesome!

      • Naomi says:

The Danish series was amazing! The American version is based on that with the border between Mexico and the US replacing the bridge in the Danish series. I haven’t watched the American version because the Danish series was so well done. Frankly I am tired of American penchance to remake other countries programs rather than airing the original versions.

    • Dana m says:

I love The Bridge. What a great series.

    • kri says:

Her acting on that show is fabulous. I don’t know how she prepped for it, but I’m amazed at her…and I like her alot. Le honk!

  10. Loz says:

    Another honk here!

  11. Josephine says:

She’s worn some questionable ensembles, but you gotta love that she’s true to herself and low-key.

  12. serena says:

I don’t care about her at all, but I love Joshua and these two together are just adorable!

ps. how gross is foie gras.. ugh!

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

      Josh is the cutest.

I love foie gras but I had to give it up once I read about the gavage technique.
So sad because it really is delicious to me. Then again, I’m French.

      • mayamae says:

Thanks for pointing that out Kitten. Even meat eaters can acknowledge the technique is barbaric.

      • Anne tommy says:

The crocodile probably didn’t volunteer to become a handbag either… But she seems classy generally. And so pretty. A few friends of mine saw her in Edinburgh a few years ago – I think at the film festival, just walking into a cafe – and she was so lovely in person that all the guys in the room were stunned.

    • Jub-Jub says:

Also, she wears a lot of fur. Boo.

  13. Trillian says:

Hunh, I am German and I am totally “made out of sugar”. That means I hate getting wet in the rain, it doesn’t have anything to do with being dainty.

  14. Stephbpt says:

Adore these two! Her style is perfection! And I have a special place in my heart for all things Dawson’s Creek ❤️

  15. L says:

Except she’s worn marchesa a few times since then and the dresses have been crap each time.

But this is the one she’s talking about. She’s right-totally fug
    http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/270/1602/1600/Diane%20Kruger%20Marchesa.jpg

  16. in_theory says:

I wished she wouldn’t generalise about Germans. We’re already being stereotyped enough by the rest of the world.

    • Nanea says:

Remember the time when she couldn’t disassociate herself fast enough from being German, back when Diana Heidkrüger became Diane Kruger?

It seems she has grown up since then, but spreading clichés never comes across as mature.

      • amanda says:

I can’t stand her and how she throws being German under the bus whenever she can.

      • Liv says:

It’s not really an argument that she changed her name. Lots of actors with names from all over the world do that. Even Andrew Clutterbuck changed his name into Andrew Lincoln! 😉

    • mayamae says:

I wonder why Europeans so often classify themselves by that generic category. As if there’s little difference between the French, Germans, Italians, etc. I would never classify myself as “North American”, but that’s just me.

I loved Diane in Inglourious Basterds. When she played Helen of Troy, I didn’t think she could pass as the most beautiful woman in the world. Now I appreciate her natural beauty. I can’t help but think most American actresses would have “fixed” that nose, and inflated those lips.

      • Chris says:

Is this a common thing then Mayamae?
My own (shortsighted) impression is that the lot of us bend over backwards to insist on correct categorisation….Irish, English, French whatever.
(Btw I wish someone would assume I were French…I’d be delighted!) 😉

      • mayamae says:

@Chris, I have no idea if it’s a common thing for Europeans walking around in Europe. I know it’s a common thing I’ve noted of Europeans on American reality shows. Typically, it’s something used to explain why one is not overly emotional like an American is perceived to be. “I’m European. We’re not like that”. I’ve heard this from French, Russian, etc. I would expect – I’m French, I’m Russian, etc.

    • Lady Macbeth (Hiddles F.) says:

      @in_theory

And you’re German… I was in Germany last year and to be honest I didn’t stereotype anyone, apart from the language I saw no different clothes or anything else from British or Dutch people… ah, what would you have said if you were Italian or Spanish… the butt of all stereotyping jokes…. 😉

  17. Christine says:

My mother is German and my friend’s Moyer is German. They are definitely not made of sugar, although deep down I think my mom may be marshmallow.

  18. Claudia says:

I enjoy reading about her! Not only because she’s a fellow German (love her comment about not being made of sugar – which is a very German way of saying “not dainty” as well) and it’s nice to see her do well, but also because I find her to be very smart and down to earth. And she’s got such a great style – never boring.

  19. Lis says:

I can’t stand her … not sure why, but she annoys me.

    • Sarah says:

Agreed. I rolled my eyes like 5 times while reading. She could, like totally be friends with Goop.

  20. Joanna says:

    Honk! Love her too.

  21. Lilacflowers says:

Honking because I love her too! She’s sensible and fun and her performance in Inglorious Basterds still amazes me.

  22. Talie says:

I love her on The Bridge.

But I started getting into her with Inglorious Basterds and Farewell My Queen (she did a better Marie Antoinette than KiKi Dunst, FYI)

  23. minime says:

    Another honk!

She is one of my favorite actresses in the moment. I find her role in the Bridge so freaking good. She is indeed one of those women who look good no matter what they are wearing. She seems to be pretty drama free what is also cool and they do a nice couple. I wouldn’t mind to read more of her interviews.

  24. Harri says:

Classy woman. I enjoy your posts on her!!

  25. Kate2 says:

Sorry to be that person, but how long before people shit all over the two of them for eating foie-gras? We all know how that’s made, right? I used to like it before I went veggie so I don’t really care but if people are going to say what a horrible guy Chris Pratt is for rehoming a cat on Twitter then I think we can talk about how awful she is for eating a food that an animal was tortured to get.

And a croc bag? Let’s shit on her for that too. That model from yesterday got crap for wearing fur, so let’s have at it. (FTR- I’m anti fur. Leather I will wear because the cow is used for its meat too).

I’m just being a pain, I know. I just like to see a little consistency. I’m sure I’ll get replies about how this is totally different so we’ll see how this goes.

    • Original N says:

I’m going to +1 your comment … and completely support you! That said, I’m admittedly veg, anti-fur AND anti-leather so that is the one thing I disagree with above.

    • minime says:

I have to agree with you on that. It was pretty disappointing when she proudly talked about the black crocodile bag. I understand that it might look gorgeous, but is definitely not something to brag about and it’s so so wrong :/

    • Jayne says:

Kate2 , the crocodile is used for it’s meat as well as it’s skin. Plus they also make crocodile oil as well. Just fyi.

Just like the cow, there are crocodile farms where they are breed for the sole purpose of their skin and meat.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Ha! I posted a comment above. It is delicious and incredibly inhumane.

There are people trying to find a way to create a human foie gras. I’m rooting for them!!

      http://www.thekitchn.com/can-dan-barber-162563

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I meant humane foie gras. You guys got that right?
Let me reiterate–in no way am I advocating for foie gras made from humans.

      • Chris says:

Hahahaha!!!! “The Revenge of the Geese” out now
Srsly….you can get Faux Grois now, delish.

      • bob says:

        Soylent Gras!

      • Kate2 says:

@TOK. Ha Ha!! I just lol’ed at human foie-gras. I thought “Really? How is this going to work and who would eat it?”

@jayne Very good point and I did forget about alligator farms.

The truth is, I like her and I think her boyfriend is adorable so no shade from me on either point. I won’t give people shit for eating what they want and wearing what they want, even if I disagree with those choices. I know some may see my wearing of leather hypocritical and they’re entitled. Life is too short to get bent out of shape over what someone else eats or wears.

I brought it up because I think we’re all generally pretty smart and I like the discussion. 🙂

    • mayamae says:

I’m agreeing as well. I’ve gotten some hate her for my vegetarian lifestyle, so I’ve been reluctant to express that side of myself. I said upthread that even meat eaters can recognize and avoid particularly brutal meat dishes. They can also be anti-fur and anti-exotic animal skin and still eat meat without being hypocritical (at least in my eyes).

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I agree. I eat chicken, beef and fish, but not veal or foie gras, don’t wear fur or exotic animal skin. I can see how this wouldn’t make sense to some people, though.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Count me in with you guys.

It’s only a contradiction if you take a black and white approach to humane treatment of animals.

      • mayamae says:

Good Names – it’s all about REDUCING how I negatively impact the lives of animals. When I did eat meat, I did not eat veal, etc. I’m now a lacto-ovo vegetarian versus vegan, and I do wear some leather. Is it my ideal? No. It’s what I’m capable of at this time.

There’s always someone waiting to point at and proclaim the “hypocrisy” of vegetarians. I know to some I represent all vegetarians when I open my mouth, so I try to be cognizant of that fact and try not to judge those with beliefs that differ from my own. It’s difficult for me because animals are my passion.

      • Chris says:

Not to veer way off topic too much but:
The wheel of awareness turns, and now, in UK/Ireland at least, consumption of veal is considered the more responsible and enlightened route, with regard to humane treatment of animals, if you’re consuming them at all, of course.
I can’t begin to tell you how difficult it was to take that first bite…..but it was worth the endeavour. (Hugh Fearnley-Whitingstall’s thr chap behind this, a bloke who’s full of good sense, imo)
        Sorry for side-track, Diane K!

      • Jub-Jub says:

Cows need their skin too. Much of the leather comes from countries like India and these poor animals suffer from a lot of abuse. Faux is best.

    • Roxy says:

I agree 100%! This article made her lose major points.

    • Lady Macbeth (Hiddles F.) says:

I’m just curious about Chris Pratt at this point.. why did he get crap for rehoming a cat? :-/ Better to rehome a pet than to abandon it to its fate! 🙁

About foie gras, i never tasted and after I knew what it was made of.. well I never fancied to taste it either 🙁

  26. chloe says:

we loooooove diane as well so don t stop talking about her!!!!

  27. Lempicka says:

    Honk!

  28. a. says:

    Love her. 🙂

  29. Hissyfit says:

Eh. She’s okay. Very vanilla by look and by acting. But I admire her relationship with Josh. 8 years? They’ve lasted more than marriages in HW.

  30. Betti says:

Honk! I love Diane, not only because she is from my hometown and we went to the same school… I love “The Bridge”, she is doing great there.

  31. Jackson says:

That sounds like the best fantasy Christmas ever. And she gets to live it. Damn, why am I not her??

  32. Skyblue says:

    Honk!

  33. Lee says:

Honking as well! I appreciate the what-to-watch comments here. What is the name of the Danish series The Bridge is based on? Is it on Netflix in Canada? And Farewell My Queen. Netflix? Must find them both…

    • Betti says:

It is also called “The Bridge”. (Bron/Broen in Danish/Swedish). It is also great to watch, but – it rarely happens – the american remake is better.

    • Teresa_Maria says:

The Danish version is called “Bron/Broen”
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733785/?ref_=nv_sr_2

And there is another set of Danish series, even better than this one. This is called “The Killing” (“Forbrydelsen”) and I highly recommend it.

    • Sarah says:

@Lee I don’t know about the Bridge, but Farewell my Queen is definitely on Netflix in Canada. Or at least it was when I saw it a couple of months ago.

    • Lee says:

Thank you for your help! I can confirm that the Danish version of The Bridge (season 1) is on Netflix in Canada. Looking forward to watching it, and Farewell My Queen. We’ve finished Lilyhammer (very entertaining!), and were casting about for something else.

  34. Shahrizai says:

Honk! I’m into her, and totally into her relationship with Joshua. They seem like a fun couple, and after Lainey’s blind about them… ooh la la! I developed a crush on him after watching The Fringe, and I love that she experiments with her fashion choices. 🙂

    Keep it coming!

  35. alice / jane says:

I really like the quote about Paris. I went there for the very first time when I was 10 years old and I felt the same way. I felt home and that emotion is still there every time I go back.

  36. Maude says:

Joshua Jackson is really doing it for me in these photos. I like seeing the coverage on them.

  37. Ann says:

I wish like grown women like didn’t say like so much like when they’re like being interviewed?

  38. Lilian says:

    Love these two, very down-to-earth.

  39. Grant says:

She is so basic to me but her French vacation did sound like a blast!

    • There you go, that’s the word I was looking for to describe her. When they made a big fuss about her being cast as Helen of Troy the most beautiful woman in the world I didn’t see it.

  40. Nicole S says:

    I love Diane! Honk!

  41. Couiny says:

I love DIane Kruger. She seems like a cool, intelligent, nice lady. She is also very beautiful and stylish. And I think Joshua and Diane are an adorable couple, I hope they have cute Canadian German and French babies.
I wish she had a better career, I think she is a decent actress, especially as she is a model turned actress, Cindy Crawford wished she could act like Diane. I liked her in wicker park and Inglourious basterds, (although I preferred Melanie Laurent). Even if I hate Stephenie Meyer’s books, I hoped that the movie “the host” would be successful for Diane and Saoirse Ronan. But she seems to have find a nice role in a tv show, and working steadily in France and America, so good for her. It also doesn’t hurt to have to work with demian bichir….

  42. Dancinnancy says:

I love her. I was very pleased when my InStyle showed up. Classy lady.

  43. paola says:

I soo agree with her about that horrible Marchesa dress she wore at the Golden Globes. it was absolutely trash looking.

I love foie gras too.. but every time i eat it I end up with a Kim Kardashian butt. So I just eat it when I’m in France visiting my friend (once a year) and I try to keep away from the bread which is absolutely torture ( I am glutin intolerant).

  44. nicegirl says:

    Honk! Honk!

  45. taxi says:

Loud honks. I first saw her in Joyeux Noel & have liked everything in which I’ve seen her – especially Inglorious Basterds, Farewell My Queen & The Bridge. She’s down to earth & funny in interviews, too. Low key, no narcissistic melodrama, no scandal – what’s not to like? Plus she has an fashion style that’s a bit different.

  46. Ginger says:

Indeed! I am part German on my fathers side and I’m not dainty either. I usually love Diane’s fashion choices. She doesn’t need a stylist.

  47. S says:

They are such an attractive couple. (Honk)

  48. Wannabeparisian says:

This morning, for absolutely no reason, I googled josh Jackson and Diane Kruger images. And now you post this! Ha! I love them as a couple!
Also if anyone should have played grace Kelly it should have been Diane because as you say she can make a burlap sack look regal. Good thing she knows how to pic roles!

  49. Camila says:

I adore her. And I totally believe she eats like a normal person, including carbs (oh so evil!) and all cos in Paris, in Germany, people eat like that and are usually fit cos they move more than Americans I’m guessing, always riding bikes and all, also, let’s not forget that moderation is key not simply cutting out carbs to lose weight. German bread is to die for, all those yummy French pastries as well, you can have it all in moderation and still maintain a healthy weight or even lose weight like that. Plus when u’ve lived in Paris, you know how fast Parisians walk and do things, I totally envy her with that hot Joshua being foodies together in Paris… *sighs*

  50. skeksis says:

LOVE to see her! More, please!

  51. Reece says:

She gets a honk from me. I like her and I like her style.
In all honesty I really only click for the possibility of Joshua pictures. Her best accessory!

  52. emma says:

I love her! Please keep covering her!

  53. redvixen says:

Love her. She’s classy, articulate and has interesting things to say. I’d rather read about her than those trashy kuntrashians any day.
My God, they are like a yeast infection that just won’t go away.

  54. Maritza says:

She is great in “The Bridge” series, her character is sort of a slightly autistic cop. The series is really good.

  55. She was married to Guilluame who I had a huge crush on as a kid (after The Beach) but that was the only interesting thing I found about her. I don’t hate her but I don’t seek coverage on her. I never found her particularly beautiful or an amazing actress. She’s just there. But Good for her for being able to have a normal life as a celebrity.

I was the opposite in Paris, I went from 120lbs when I moved there to 113lbs by the 3rd month, and I’m 5’6 so I hated what my body became. I regularly gorge on bread and chocolate and eat whatever I want (because you only live once and I plan to die having not denied myself the pleasure of food) so maybe that’s why it didn’t affect me but the French waif look is not something I’m a fan of. It probably didn’t help that I walk everywhere. For the first two months I never took the metro. My friends make fun of me but when you come from a place where you have to drive everywhere, the pleasure of stepping outside your door and just legging it is new and enticing.

    • Jadzia says:

I’ve had a similar experience, although I”m DEFINITELY not a waif (yet?). I lost 10 pounds (while pregnant, no less) during my first few months in France. And the only thing that did it was eating at home all the time. Now, having moved from “la campagne” (where you have to drive EVERYWHERE) to the middle of a city, I’m losing weight again, primarily because my driveway is such a tight squeeze that I refuse to drive anywhere because I won’t be able to get the car back into it again.

  56. Ella says:

Honk, LOVE her. And yes, people in most European countries have been eating bread and other carbs for centuries while keeping their figures. It’s called “moderation”.

  57. eastsidej says:

I may be incorrect but is anyone forcing her to be in movies and spend time in la where eating bread is practically a crime? If she’s.so unhappy and wants to be able to eat like a normal person she can leave show business..
Oh no wait let me guess she loves the millions
Of dollars and the free crocodile bags…
    Typical Hollywood hypocrite

  58. Lydia Says says:

Honk! She and Josh are super cute. This cover does not do her justice.

  59. Dany says:

mehh foie gras… i hate it when high profile people praise this product. There should have been a debate about the animal cruelty behind the production when the Future Queens Camilla and Kate Middleton were on one of their foie gras dinners. They should know better. Everyone should know better

  60. Miss E says:

Love her! Always and forever! I never miss a Diane Kruger post!!

  61. Godwina says:

I can throw a honk at Diane, sure. What’s not to like? I don’t get the fuss about JJ at all, though. Obviously they’re a great match if they’re at it 8 years in, but when they first got together I was very much wut.

  62. Blackbetty says:

    Europeans don’t use stylist, why?

  63. Vilodemeanus says:

She’s very talented, and she’s one of the few actresses in America who can dress herself and look stunning. So many people think they are stylish and they’re not, so she’s refreshing.

  64. auntie git says:

Honk! I really like her, and her and Joshua together. Loved the quote about German women being not made of sugar. 🙂 Awesome. Super cute! Keep covering them!
