This might be my most controversial coverage! I loathed Kerry Washington’s Emmy gown. She wore this pumpkin Prada and it’s just the worst. It’s disappointing, it’s the wrong color, it’s a terrible design and I’m just not feeling it. The design looks like a home-ec project, or the losing design on Project Runway’s “Go Into a Craft Store With $10 and Make A Dress” challenge. I hate the peekaboo navy at the thigh too. UGH, get it together, Kerry! You’re usually one of the best! Here’s something nice: beyond the dress, she looks pretty. Good hair and makeup. I’m sad that she keeps losing all of these awards too.
And here are some Game of Throne stragglers… Natalie Dormer wore J.Mendel which I think would have been more striking as a solid color rather than this two-tone thing. Lena Headey wore Robin Singer, which is kind of blah (Lena is so sexy IRL though). And Rose Leslie really phoned it in. This dress looks so cheap!

Love the dress! Stunning!!! However it doesn’t look good on Kerry, and her hair seems “off”…. the dress would have looked better on someone with broader shoulders tbh. Ok I want it for myself now haha
I have a Hallmark gift bag that someone once gave me that looks exactly like Kerry’s dress. I thought it was a but much for a paper bag, so a dress version just doesn’t work for me.

I saw Washington in some of the pre-show coverage and she looked STUNNING. Really, the pics don’t do her justice, you have to see the dress in motion. She really looked jaw-droppingly gorgeous and I personally love her dress. I also LOVE orange-it’s my favorite color.

She did look better on TV, but I don’t love the bottom half of the dress.
As much as I like Kerry and think she’s a very good actress, I don’t think she really has a shot against some of these other shows. Scandal is too melodramatic and doesn’t give her the same quality of material that some of the others do.
It’s true, I have an aversion to orange. I just don’t think orange dresses ever look sophisticated. Ever.

Orange is my fave color too, and think Kerry’s dress is amazeballs. I had to stop myself from posting after loving Paulson’s dress (and Lena’s!) as obviously my radar is totally busted.

Orange is gorgeous! Not everyone can pull it off and it has to be the right tone. IF you can pull it off it’s lovely. I tend to think fair skin has more issues with it washing out. Although, again, depends on the tone and styling.
I love orange on everyone, in my opinion it makes everyone’s skin glow. While I didn’t see it on tv, it’s much to Halloween for me. Kerry is usually so sophisticated and she is an absolutely stunning woman with a gorgeous figure. I expect better, a darker orange with a cleaner cut would have been a much better choice imo.
I love orange, too. I have since I was little and felt sorry for it since nobody else liked it. I figured it was jealous of red, too, because they’re neighbors on the rainbow and everyone likes red. So, my love for orange is probably borderline pathological. BUT YOU DO NOT PAIR IT WITH BLACK (or navy) UNLESS IT IS OCTOBER.

Ugly dresses all the way around. I am not impressed with any of the Emmy dresses to be honest. I have yet to see one that was great. Anna Gunn’s has been about the best I have seen so far.
It was not, in my opinion, a great night for fashion.
Kerry looks awful. I hated the dress and the make-up/hair.
I did love Lena’s look. It was one of my favorites from last night.

I disagree. Kerry looks beautiful so does Natalie Dormer. Rose’s dress needed to be ironed but she looked pretty anyway. Lena is Lena. Just wonderful.

Natalie Dormer is channeling Elvis in the face. Well ah, thank you. thank you very much. Lena is beautiful but she’s tiling to the side by the weight of the asymmetrical skirt, it looks like. I think I’d rather see the dress Kerry Washington is wearing under that dress. And the last dress must have been the only option left on a rack and it wasn’t in Rose Leslie’s size.

Am sorry but there is no way Kerry Washington should win in that category. She is the worst actress among all of the nominees. She does the same face in all her scenes, in all her movies, you cannot tell the difference.

I actually have more of a problem with Kerry’s hair/makeup than her dress. And pink and blue makeup with an orange dress is just wrong. I think a sleeker updo and a bright pop of lipstick would have been much nicer. I don’t get why she should be expected to win. Scandal is just an OTT guilty pleasure imo, if they’re going to give Kerry an Emmy then I want to see Madeline Stowe get one for her amazing scenery chewing in Revenge while we’re at it! I truly think Julianna Margulies is on another plane in The Good Wife so don’t begrudge her winning again, plus tbh the show probably won’t last much longer now that Josh is gone. (sob).
I adore Lena and she almost makes this work but she could have worn just about anything and looked amazing. Rose sadly has a case of Gwyneth pink Oscar dress sag, who the he-double hockeysticks let her out like that when a couple of quick stitches would have solved the problem? Oy. Such a shame as the colour is stunning on her.

It actually hurt me to say that I didn’t like Kerry’s dress. I just love her so much and she does usually get it right! I was watching E!’s red carpet coverage and I HATED how Natalie Dormer was posing. I didn’t even get a good look at her dress, I was so distracted by her “sexy face”.
Obviously Kerry’s dress was chosen in honor of the first day of pumpkin spice latte season!
I have realized I like Kerry more as a person giving great interviews than as an actress. And “Scandal” has truly became too one dimensional for her. Is it the writing or her acting, I don’t know but the last season was pretty predictable from her side.
I hope S4 will bring some new material for her to work with
It’s like you’d actually have to try and make Kerry Washington look bad, but they managed it. Can’t agree on the hair and make-up. Hair, especially, is a drab, damaged mess.

None of these dresses look good but the actresses manage look nice nevertheless. Except Lena Headay who has a hair problem. I do not think black hair suits her and the way it is done does not look good.

The color is the only thing right about Kerry’s dress. The design is awful. And the hair is a big no. Pin-straight hair hanging from a center part on anyone over 25 looks witchy. Whoever styles her for “Scandal” should style her for the red carpet.

The minute I saw this dress I disliked it. I saw it when she delivered an award and it was rumpled from her having sat down and it had a tube top, uni-boob effect that looked like absolute crap. Then I saw the glittered bike shorts peeking out and I literally said, “oh no.” Even seeing it here, draped properly, I still dislike it.
