Norman Reedus vs. Andrew Lincoln: who has the hottest Walking Dead EW cover?

ewlincoln
The Walking Dead covers the new EW in four different collectable covers featuring Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Darryl (Norman Reedus), Michonne (Danai Gurira), and Glenn and Maggie (Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan). Of course we’re focusing on the hot guys because that’s what we do. Normally I would go for Norman Reedus, but we heard in December that Reedus, 45, was dating a 20 year-old model named Cecilia Singley. (The NY Post reported in February that things had “cooled down” for the two, so maybe that was short-lived.) There’s little that kills a crush faster than a man’s taste in women barely out of their teens, so I’m voting for Andrew Lincoln, 40, who has been married for eight years. (I can’t figure out his wife Gael Anderson’s age, but she looks around the same age.) Daryl may be more badass but Rick is the planner and the leader. Yes he looks goofy and angry here, as opposed to Daryl’s calm focus, but I’m still going for Rick. (Update: I didn’t forget Steven Yeun! They just put him with Lauren Cohan so I didn’t objectify him as much as the other two. Gurira looks pretty hot too.)

Spoilers for the upcoming season are below
There were plenty of spoilers revealed at Comic-Con, and EW’s teaser article repeats some of them. Namely that our heroes won’t be stuck in that trailer at Terminus for long. Series creator Robert Kirkman goes one further in his EW interview and says that the trailer plotline will be resolved within minutes. Did they listen to fans before nixing the trailer or was that planned all along? Here’s more from EW:

Andrew Lincoln has a warning for you: All that gore and action and heartbreak and intensity we’ve seen before on The Walking Dead? Kid stuff. At least when compared to the upcoming fifth season, which is definitely not for kids. “We’re really earning our rating this season,” says Lincoln. “There are families that watch it together, but just so it’s on the record, guys—it’s a grown-up show this season.”

Entertainment Weekly has your first exclusive look at that grown-up season. We went on set and spoke with the cast and the producers to give you an in depth look at what to expect in season five. And while things may have ended last spring on a cliffhanger with Rick and Co. trapped inside of train car, exec producer Robert Kirkman promises that the action is going to come fast and furious when things pick back up Oct. 12 on AMC. “By minute two or three of our season premiere, I think the vast majority of our questions have been answered,” says Kirkman, “and five or six more have been presented, so you’re very much going to be invested, well-informed, and ready for the ride that we’re going to take you on.”

[From EW]

I don’t get how any parent could let a child watch Walking Dead. It is a harrowing, gory ride that is essentially R-rated. It’s for older teens at least, I don’t even think it’s PG-13, there is some gruesome sh*t on thats show. I have friends who can’t watch it because they’re violence-averse.

There are tons of Walking Dead features on EW.com, including Norman Reedus’ personal on-set photo album, new character portraits, and the first picture of The Wire’s Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel Stokes. In Stokes’ interview, he sings Andrew Lincoln’s praises, saying he “was the first cast member that I met… he made me feel instantly welcome, and instantly a part of it.” See, Lincoln is the hottest. Daryl is overrated.

    I vote for Danai Gurira.

  2. Jackson says:

No spoilers! No spoilers! I’m just here for the pictures. 🙂

  3. Abbott says:

Steven Yeung is serving up some Jaden Smith eyebrow lift realness.

  4. TheOriginalKitten says:

    Come on really? Reedus obviously.

Lincoln leaves me completely cold and barren in the biscuits region.

    • Kate2 says:

TOK – I’m completely with you on Reedus (he comes off as a perpetual child in real life, but he’s still known to be a really nice guy), he’s super hot.

But I like Lincoln too. That accent does it for me.

Love this show. Can’t wait for the new season. 6 months between seasons is too much but I guess the waiting makes it more appreciated when it comes back!

I can’t stand Beth though. She’s the only one who makes me stabby. She’s so annoying.

    • Stef Leppard says:

No way! Andrew Lincoln reminds me of my husband, so I would totally hit it.

    • FLORC says:

I do agree With Rick leaving me cold, but i’ve seen a few Andrew interviews and he’s so hot. The accent, humor, way he moves… Hot!

Boondock Saints was 1 of the 1st films I watched without subtitles so I watched it dozens of times to understand it all. A crush for Norman has grown and never left. Man is ageless.

    • Irishae says:

Where you are cold and barren, I am a tropical jungle. That didn’t come out right, but the point is I love me some Rick/Andrew Lincoln. I could take or leave Darryl/Norman Reedus.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@kate, I’ve met Norman and he doesn’t strike me as child-like. In fact, I get the “old soul” vibe from him. He’s sensitive and artistic and very kind to his fan base. I’ve heard others say this before (and it’s true), when he talks to you, it feels like you’re the only two people in the room.

I met Steven a few weeks ago and he is much more attractive in person. I brought my 5 month old baby and he said he couldn’t believe I just had a baby and that I should write a diet book because I looked so great 😳 That compliment went a long way considering it’s my third and I still have 15-20 lbs to lose!

Andrew is much more private and does very few meet and greets with fans. I can’t decide if he is just private and likes to spend all of his spare time with his family, or he doesn’t enjoy meeting with fans. He goes to one or two conventions (usually comic con sandiego and one out in Atlanta when the show films) and charges an exorbitant amount for meet and greets).

  5. QQ says:

    Michonne FTW!!

Thanks GOD they are listening cause im borderline hatewatching

    • Irishae says:

Indeed, her’s is the best cover and I will probably cry if they ever kill her off.

    • Addison says:

I think Michonne is best. Hopefully she will not be killed anytime soon. Eventually they will all die. She is still alive in comic world though, so that is a good sign.

In the comic only 4 of what I consider original are still alive. Technically Michonne is not original but she came in very early on so I consider her original.

    • Ange says:

oh god me too. I’ve been watching just to yell at the television, it’ll be interesting to see if they can get me past that.

  6. eliza says:

    I.CANNOT.WAIT until Oct.12th.

Such a fangirl of the graphic novels and the show and I make absolutely no apologies for it.

    NORMAN REEDUS *****squeeeeeee*****

Melissa McBride was totally robbed of an Emmy nomination for her brilliant worh in The Grove episode. Just because this is about zombies does not mean there is not some excellent acting going on in this show. It deserves some recognition.

    • Sharra55 says:

I completely agree! Melissa McBride was freaking amazing! I got goosebumps just thinking about that episode!

    • PixieWitch says:

look at the flowers lizzy. 🙂

    • Kori says:

I’m still so angry but a lot of the Emmys were a big crapfest anyway. But yes–robbed!

    • Irishae says:

Melissa McBride and her character’s development have been one of my favorite parts of the show.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I was in labor the night that episode aired and I tried to postpone going to the hospital so I could finish watching it. I tried to catch it on rerun at the hospital but was actively pushing and trying to watch it on the delivery room TV lol. Best episode of the season.

  7. Tiffany27 says:

Andrew Lincoln can get me pregnant on a hot summer sidewalk. Crazy mountain man beard and all.

    ETA: Queen Danai is gorgeous.

  8. Lori says:

Norm’s flat ironed hair is a lady boner killer.

  9. Mia4S says:

I’m not sure those covers are going for “hot”. I love both characters for different reasons and they are cute together with the surrogate brothers thing (well, as cute as this show gets!).

Families watch this show?! Wow OK…no. That’s troubling. How about starting kids in genre TV with Doctor Who it something? Less disembowelling and attempted child rape. :-/

  10. Norman Bates' Mother says:

Fun fact – did you know that Andrew met his wife, a daughter of Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull, when she was Goop’s personal assistant? The woman must have been through a lot. I imagine that most of her duties involved helping Goop go through her cleanses and constantly reassuring her that she has a body of a 22-year old stripper.

I have a soft spot for Andrew so I would normally choose him but his cover isn’t that great. Norman has a thing for super young models (the 20-year old wasn’t his only barely legal girlfriend) and I always thought there’s something skeevy about him even though he seems nice in interviews. I pick Steven. I think he’s good-looking and the Lauren Cohan part can be covered.

    • FLORC says:

Never liked Jethro Tull. And now I have auqalung stuck in my head.

Intersting fact though! You know she’s confided in her husband about what Goop’s secrets are. I bet he’s got all the good dirt.

    • megsie says:

They seem to have got on. Apple was Gael’s flower girl. Although perhaps that speaks more to the personal asst’s babysitting skills than it does Goop’s friendliness.

  11. vv007 says:

I cannot stand Norman Reedus’ late 90s haircut. But that Michonne cover is bad asssssss.

  12. Stef Leppard says:

I love TWD!! I can’t wait for it to come back. Rick is an angry, angry dude. I mean, he ripped out some guy’s jugular with his teeth, so…
I love Glenn and Maggie. Last season I was so scared that Glenn was going to die!

    • Irishae says:

I am constantly resigning myself every episode that it will be the one where either Glenn or Maggie die. I love them too and their relationship is just ripe for getting massacred, so to speak, by the writers.

  13. maybeiamcrazy says:

Norman Reedus is impossibly hot. Andrew is not nearly as hot but I have a soft spot for him because Rick is my favourite character. I would do both of them.

  14. FLORC says:

There are so many kids that read the graphic novels. And those contain so much horrible acts and over the topic adult scenes with and without violence it makes the series look like it’s edited for PBS.

So excited for the series return! Them i’ll be so mad at the january/february mid season break…

  15. Lincoln, because I’m getting Thom Yorke vibes from the grey and the hair.

  16. CJW says:

    Norman!!

  17. Nopity Nope says:

    #teammichonne forever

  18. Bleeding Heart Libra says:

    No contest. Norman Reedus.

  19. Karen says:

Team Rickyl ! #WhywasntTHATthecover ??? I adore them both. Norman is still very much with the 20 y/o – she has been spotted all over town (in Ga.) with him recently, many fans have seen her on set too.

  20. skylar says:

    Reedus obviously.

  21. Lucky says:

Thank you for having a Walking Dead post, it’s my favorite show! I have to go with Andrew Lincoln I confess I started watching the show because I’ve had a massive crush in him since Love Actually. I would never have watched a horror show but I’m so glad I did. Cannot wait for Oct!

  22. rkintn says:

I watch TWD with my kids, who are 11 and 13. They are allowed to watch because it’s fake and they know it’s fake and if a part comes on that I think is too adult for them, they have to cover their eyes and ears lol. I actually took them to the Full Moon Tattoo and Horror Festival last year in Nashville to meet Norman Reedus. Super nice guy!

  23. Jess says:

I’m always gonna go with Andrew! My favorite movie is Love Actually, he’s just so damn cute and pulls off a great southern accent!

I’m always shocked by how many youngsters watch the show, I read through the Facebook page once and saw so many parents commenting on how inappropriate a sex scene between Maggie and Glenn was, they were “so disappointed” in the sexual content, and I was thinking seriously?!? You’re more worried about a natural act of sex over nurder and zombies eating people alive with guts spilling out everywhere? People are insanely stupid sometimes, lol.

  24. megsie says:

That’s a tough choice. But I will point out that a while back there was a blind item about a certain newly successful cable star’s unwilling to sleep with producers and/or directors to get a part. I know I know most blinds are bs, but once in while they’re legit. Anyway, this was after his overseas made movie broke in the States and Hollywood came knocking on his door. The actor lost several plum roles because he stubbornly refused to cheat on his new wife. *cough Andrew cough* With that in mind, I’ll go with Lincoln.

  25. Nosy says:

Daryl Dixon. Hands down love Lincoln’s accent and devotion to fam. If u were reedus, wouldn’t u date 20 yr old models if u could? Do I thk he’ll marry her? No. I’ve also heard that Helena C is awful to deal with, so he obvi has a thing for models (leo, adam) but who wouldn’t? But I thk he’s a nice guy, heard he is and he’s my one free pass with my hubs. Also to the above poster who said her hubs looks like Lincoln, mine looks like Jake Ryan from 16 candles! People on the street stop him! Crazy! ESP Bc I loved me some jake Ryan leaning up on that Porsche waiting for him some purple bridesmaid!
