After Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced their wedding last week, most outlets claimed that Brad and Angie would be doing a “working honeymoon” in Malta. Angelina flew from France to Malta to do some pre-production on By the Sea, and it was expected that Brad would join her within a day or two. Instead, Brad has spent much of their first week of marriage away from his bride. OH NOES. COUNTDOWN TO DIVORCE. First, Brad was in England for a photocall for Fury, then he flew to New York, which is where he camped out throughout the three-day weekend. As it turns out, Brad got a job. It’s a weird job too – he’s been filming a “short film” directed by Martin Scorsese and he’s working with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro. The short film is basically an advertisement for Melco-Crown Entertainment, a global resorts and casinos conglomerate. Which means… $$$$.
How many short films ever boasted this kind of star wattage? RatPac Entertainment is producing a short being directed by Martin Scorsese that will be used as a campaign for Melco-Crown Entertainment (MCE), Lawrence Ho and James Packer’s global resorts and casino brand.
They got the best cast for a casino-themed film since Steven Soderbergh was making the Ocean’s Eleven films: Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. The script was written by Wolf Of Wall Street scribe and Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter. RatPac’s Brett Ratner and RSA’s Jules Daly are producing and Packer and Ho are executive producing.
The film will premiere next year at the opening of Melco-Crown’s newest movie-themed resort Studio City in Macau, the big gambling mecca that is now part of China. It’s the first time De Niro, Pitt and DiCaprio have worked with Martin Scorsese together in the same film.
DiCaprio has done five with Scorsese, and De Niro eight, but none together until now. De Niro and DiCaprio did This Boy’s Life back in 1993, with De Niro so impressed by the kid that he suggested to his pal Scorsese that he ought to meet DiCaprio. The two met and hit it off pretty well. Maybe this convergence with Pitt is a good warmup for that Frank Sinatra film Scorsese and DiCaprio have been talking about?
So, that’s what Brad’s been doing in NYC. He’s been filming this commercial directed by Marty Scorsese. I had to look through Brad’s IMDB to see if he had any connection to Scorsese before this, and I was surprised to learn/remember that Brad was a producer on The Departed. Allegedly, Brad was attached to star in it at one point too. That’s interesting. Obviously, Leo and Bob DeNiro’s histories with Marty are more well-known. Even though this “short film” is basically just a fancy commercial, I bet it will be pretty charming. More and more, A-list actors are “selling out” for these kinds of high-paying commercial endeavors. I’ll give it to Brad though – when he sells out, he does it for major paychecks and with the highest caliber people.

Aw dang. I was so happy for them pulling off the undercover wedding that I totally forgot about the aftermath: we’ll have divorce rumor tabloid cycles until they die. I’m no Brangaloonie but after a decade together, six kids and a cancer scare, even I will admit these two seem to be all in and will probably be together til death do them part. The papers don’t change a thing for them, it was just something for the kids.

Jamie Packer is financing many films these days including many of Scorcese’s upcoming projects. Perhaps Brad/Leo/Deniro are making this commercial for Jamie to finance their other non Scorcese productions.

Sigh….thanks to the Annistans at Female First , I know that according to CA law, couples with a confidential license do not have to marry in the county where the license was granted but they do have to marry in CA.(cuz according to the stans their marriage ain’t legal lol)
Meaning, sure the ceremony was Aug 23rd
But if the law is accurate…then for all we know they could have had a courthouse wedding and been married and honeymooned weeks or months ago with before having the actual ceremony at home for the kids.

I believe they probably got married a week or so before the French ceremony. Then they had the same judge fly to France and perform the ceremony. Using the judge twice was one less person to keep quiet.
ETA: I fully expect People mag to do a profile on “The Judge Who Married St. Angie Jo & the Slacker” to make up for the AP getting the marriage scoop. LOL
I agree…I think they went to the sleepless town in socal. Got the license , got hitched and none were the wiser.
Another reason to use the same judge is that (thanks annistans) According to the laws in france, If they used a french official they’d have to marry at town hall or some such, which negates a home wedding.
That and I’m sure they didn’t want to be married under french law.
And as you said, same judge= one less person in the know.
Brad is in Malta looking sexy in white tshirt in pics at Daily Mail. They had their honeymoon BEFORE they released the statement about the wedding. The wedding pics in Hello Magazine are so beautiful seeing the joy and happiness in their kids eyes. I see Brad’s brother, Angie’s brother , Brad’s best friend director David Fincher. I’m still pissed by all the misinformation Enews put out .

People tend to forget that it was Brad who bought the rights to Infernal Affairs long ago. He’s always had an eye out for good projects. I like that he had the good sense to pass the role along to Matt when he felt he’d gotten too old for it.
