Ashley Greene in Antonio Berardi & McQueen in Venice: lovely or terrible?

Here are some photos from the Venice Film Festival photocall and premiere of Burying the Ex. I’m including photos of Ashley Greene, Anton Yelchin and Alexandra Daddario (you might know her from True Detective). Is it wrong to think that Ashley kind of rocked Venice? I usually ignore her even though the male-dominated blogs are trying to make her into a thing. Usually, her style is kind of a snoozefest, but I’m rather enchanted by these photos.

For the premiere look, Alexandra wore Reem Acra – I don’t really care for it. It’s too “look at my body! LOOK AT IT.” Meanwhile, Ashley wore this surprisingly dramatic-yet-conservative Antonio Berardi gown. This gown shouldn’t work – it literally has a dust ruffle and all of the fabric and overlay should make it seem too heavy. But it works, doesn’t it? I really like this on her. This is maybe the most I’ve ever liked her on a red carpet. Great styling too – her hair and makeup look great.

Here are some photos of Ashley at the photocall for the same movie. She wore Alexander McQueen and once again, I really like it on her. What is happening?! The shade of blue is great, the ponytail works and I don’t mind this peplum.

I agree – that’s the best Ashley Greene has ever looked on the Red Carpet.

Ashley seems to have hit her stride, fashion-wise! Neither look should work (I’m not a fan of the blue peplum ensemble) but it does on her.

Well, I’m not really feeling the peplum top at all. It has no nip in at the waist, too straight-lined and it makes her look a little boxy. It reminds me of one of those sweaters that was so popular years ago that had the fake collar attached to it. It just looks odd. I love her in that black gown though. It looks amazing on her.

    • Detritus says:

I hate the blue peplum. And the makeup in that photo makes her look really severe.

The dress and makeup in the first photo tough, beautiful.

    • Denise says:

I recall seeing her in a bathing suit and noticing what a boxy torso she has, no defined waist at all. So the straight cut of the peplum looks especially unflattering. The shading on the first dress and the seam around the waist make her look like she has one, that was a great look for her. I’d say she needs to gain weight so her face ages better and doesn’t look so gaunt, but I think that’s just her genetics. She’s thin but seems quite fit, her arms look very cut.

Being a gown-disliker, I’m lookin at the peplum job…..those trousers can’t make up their mind, to cling or to drape? Put Emma Watson in this and she’d tie up the loose ends and make the look really work.
But douze points for wearing trousers, anyway.

Hate the nail color w/the dress but it works w/the pants outfit. I too like the dress.

  5. Anna says:

I find the outfit she wore to the photo call so unflattering. She’s lost so much weight (especially in the face her chin looks so severe now), that the outfit looks like a sack. But if she likes it and thinks it’s flattering that’s good, because that’s all that matters in the end

  6. DavidBowie says:

As a soccer mom even I wouldn’t wear that peplum and pants mess!

  7. Kiddo says:

Kaiser, you like that French maid costume/Talbots standard look/dish-washing apron mash-up? Psshaw! I do like the Antonio Berardi gown. I hate the purple gown, it’s a longer version of the typical JLo only more garish ice skating number.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Agree that peplum is sad and unflattering.

      • Kiddo says:

Thanks for agreeing, GNAT. It looks silly.

      • mimif says:

I’m only wearing peplum from now on. Even the pajamas!
        #allpeplumeverything.

      • Kiddo says:

Oh Good. That should go well with the package I sent you: L’Oreal Hair color, Brass Yellow Blond # 9. Oh, and a honey baked ham, which you won’t have to worry about spilling on the PJs since you’ll be wearing an apron, and no one would notice anyway because of your HAIR.

      • mimif says:

I have something better than an apron! Kitten gave me a Scotch Guard floral peplum muumuu with built in drink holders, it’s très amazing. Also, I’ve converted to Kabballahlalaism so I can no longer eat baked ham. I will, however, take you up on the bleach because someone (cough) made me look at Clive Owen man tittays yesterday against my will. 🙈

  8. zan says:

Love it! They all look good. I like those kind of dresses, no cleavage but with sexy yet appropriate lace. And usually I’m not a fan of peplum but this light one works on Ashley.

  9. T.C. says:

Love the dresses but Ashley Greene’s face and neck seem to have aged overnight.

  10. Hissyfit says:

Don’t care about any of the dresses. I’m only here for Anton. He and Felicity Jones needs to do a movie together again!

  11. stellalovejoydiver says:

Anton Yelchin, what are you doing in a film with Ashley Greene?!

  12. Samtha says:

I think the makeup is too harsh. Her face has gotten gaunt and all that blush and the dark colors emphasize the sharpness of her cheekbones and jawline in an unflattering way.

  13. BendyWindy says:

I love Anton Yelchin. That is all.

  14. Grant says:

    I like Alexandra’s gown better.

  15. BooBooLaRue says:

Happily I would wear either gown, but she looks plastic. Is she real?

  16. Bridget says:

Remember how huge the Twilight kids thought they were going to be?

  17. Cali says:

Love the gown, but not sure about the very bottom of it. The peplum pantsuit is a huge huge huge miss. She’s a gorgeous girl with a great body and a love of fashion – she just needs a better stylist.

  18. smcollins says:

Love the dress, like the hair, not feelin’ the makeup. It’s too harsh. I agree that her face is way too thin and the dark makeup only accentuates that. Plus, it looks like shes struggling to keep her eyes open from the weight of those eyelashes. The softer makeup in the other photos looks much better on her. Still a beautiful woman, either way.

  19. Tig says:

I love that gown- and how Ashley looks in it! She is such a pretty girl. Didn’t the other girl have her first big role in one of the Percy Jackson movies? This is not a good look on her.

  20. kri says:

I actually like both gowns-but jesus, take the peplum.

  21. Bread and Circuses says:

I’m not wild about either outfit, but dang, she’s got great definition in her arms. I’ve always thought of her as a little twig, but clearly she’s been working out since I last took a good look at her.

  22. Jill says:

Greene has the worst nose job this side of Olsen. You could cut glass with that tip. Yikes.
