Liv Tyler is pregnant by her British boyfriend of four months, Dave Gardner

Nick Grimshaw celebrates his birthday at Shoreditch House
Above is a photo of Liv Tyler, 37, out with her British boyfriend, Dave Gardner, on August 15. Gardner is a good friend of David Beckham’s and co-starred with him in the documentary David Beckham Into The Unknown. He was said to be dating Kelly Brook this last December.

Multiple sources have confirmed to E! that Liv is expecting. She was photographed in billowing clothing while vacationing in Spain with Gardner and her son Milo, 9, at the end of August. Milo’s dad is British musician Royston Langdon of the band Spacehog. Here’s the news from E!

The 37-year-old Leftovers actress is expecting her second child, E! News has confirmed with multiple sources. (Tyler’s rep did not comment on the baby news.) Tyler already has 9-year-old son Milo William Langdon from her previous marriage to British musician Royston Langdon. Tyler and Langdon split up in 2008 after five years of marriage.

Tyler’s pregnancy follows news that she’s dating David Beckham’s good friend Dave Gardner. The cute couple has been spotted out and about together multiple times recently. Just last month, Tyler and Gardner were spotted holding hands in London as they left a pal’s birthday party. And several days after their PDA spotting, the lovebirds jetted off to Formentera, Spain, for a romantic vacation where they were snapped kissing and cuddling. Too cute.

A source told E! News in August that Tyler and Gardner had “been seeing each other for three months or so” after reportedly having been set up by supermodel and mutual pal Kate Moss.

“They get on very well and are really enjoying spending time together,” the source added of the couple. “He flies to New York mostly to see her and they feel very comfortable together.”

“He is very charismatic and a real gentleman and she appreciates that about him,” the insider said.

Meanwhile, Gardner has two children with his English actress ex Davinia Taylor, whom he was married to from 2003 to 2010.

[From E! Online]

I have to hand it to Star Magazine, they called Liv’s pregnancy in their last issue. They said she was covering up her stomach on vacation and that she could be pregnant. We have some photos from that trip below, and she does look somewhat pregnant there. Just Jared has more photos, and in one the wind is blowing her dress around her stomach and you can definitely tell. She was also photographed out recently looking bumpy.

In the Star article from last week, they claimed that Liv and Dave have been together for two months. E! had it at three in August, so with the benefit of the doubt they’ve been together four months tops. That’s not enough time to get to know someone enough to decide to have a baby with them! I hope it all works out, I hope they’re very happy together, but they just started dating and Liv is pregnant enough to be showing already. I worry about her.

Anyway congratulations to Liv and Dave!

I worked that out but thought she wasn’t with him that long but EVERY photo on their holiday she had that stupid hat in front of her which seemed odd and obvious.

  2. Lady Macbeth says:

Congratulations to Liv!! She seems a nice lady.

  3. minime says:

errr…just strange. She’s a grown up woman so it’s difficult to believe that it was an “accident”. Does she really think it’s a good idea to have a baby with someone she barely knows and when did she/they decide that, two weeks into the relationship?

    • Chrissy says:

Just what I was thinking. He must be thrilled. (sarcasm)

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I agree. Not to sound judgey, and I know accidents happen, but here’s the thing – if you’re a financially independent woman like Liv, you can probably have a baby with a guy you barely know, and if it doesn’t work out, you’ll be ok in terms of help and paying the bills. I personally think it’s best for a child to have two loving parents, but there’s no guarantee even if you’re married to someone you knew for years. But now this has become so common, fashionable even, that young girls like my nieces in their early 20s see it as totally normal, acceptable and, worse, doable. But they aren’t Liv T. If they have a baby alone or with some guy they barely know, it’s going to be quite a different story. My cousin’s daughter already did it, and the guy pays child support, but he’s practically a kid himself and doesn’t earn enough to be much help, and she had to drop out of college, her parents have to practically support her still and it’s a big mess. I just think it’s becoming a trendy thing to do among people who can’t afford to do it, and it’s not a good thing.

      • minime says:

I agree that it’s a huge plus that she has the financial stability (and probably emotional?) to make that decision. Sure that being in a relationship for years is not a guarantee that it will work forever and sometimes not even that you really know the other person (and people do change, as we too). It’s nice that she is probably confident enough on herself to make that decision, still I can’t really wrap myself around the idea of barely knowing the person. I would personally prefer a sperm donor then. I know some cases like you described myself. Those people are nowadays in their 30’s and most of them are amazing mothers but had and have very difficult lives still today. It’s not easy.

    • Beatrice says:

Agree. Don’t they have access to birth control? No problem with unmarried couples having a child, but a couple of months (or less in this case) seems really fast to be committed to each other much less the responsibility for a child. I guess its different for those in the financial stratosphere.

      • Phenix says:

Birth control can fail, though. It happens. Happened to me. Luckily, my son’s dad was and is a supportive parent, even though we’re not together anymore. I know I’m luckier than most in my situation, though.

    • JenniferJustice says:

I’m glad there are some of us comfortable enough to say the truth. I hope it works out but you do not know a person after just a few months let alone weeks as it seems she’s already several months along or she wouldn’t be showing. We could assume this was accidental, but….I find that hard to beleive. I always think of any children already in the picture and I feel bad for this boy who was just introduced to this new man in his mother’s life and now he will have a sibling by this man who may or may not be his quick new step dad. I don’t like it, but we’re not suppose to care because it’s their lives.

      • pk says:

I agree ! It’s her business and she can certainly well afford it, but you just wonder how the children will feel about it later in life. Money and financial security aren”t everything.

They do make a beautiful couple!

      • Lucky Charm says:

She isn’t necessarily several months along just because she’s showing. The second one usually shows much sooner than the first, because the uterine muscles are already stretched. I’m tall also, and while I didn’t show at all until the end of my first pregnancy, with the second I was showing a bump almost as soon as I was pregnant. It was a family joke that all the maternity clothes I didn’t need to wear with #1 I got to wear for 9 months with #2, lol!

Anyway, congratulations to them, and best of luck!

      • Irishserra says:

@Lucky Charm, at first glance I read that you didn’t need maternity clothes for “#11.” LOL. I was going to either congratulate you on your extraordinary energy or lament with you over your extraordinary exhaustion. But then I read again and realized “#1” was just next to “I”… Not 11.

  4. MediaD says:

Yeah, hoiking the dress up and carrying the hat like that, is like when they hide prego actresses on tv with oversized handbags and furniture.. She does seem like a nice person. I did like the idea of her and Cumby together. She seems sensible.

That said, I’m always sad to see family holiday pap pics, involving children.

  5. sally says:

I hate to say it (and im no pregnancy expert and haven’t had a child) but she seems VERY BUMPY for someone who is three months pregnant TOPS. Is the baby his?

    • jinni says:

I was thinking the same thing because she’s rather tall and I don’t think a first trimester pregnancy on her would be so pronounced. Maybe she’s her mother daughter and has no problem letting her kid believe that this guy is the father when in fact it’s another man. Maybe the bio dad’s a mess like Steven Tyler was when he got Bebe pregnant with Liv.

Then again she could just be pregnant with twins seeing as women her age start popping out two eggs at a time to increase chances of pregnancy once the get to the last stages of childbearing age.

    • Joan says:

Liv gained quite a bit of weight whilst pregnant with Milo. At the end, the poor dear was bloated all over. I think she has to work to stay thin and indugles during pregnancy, as so many of us do. 🙂 Her sister Mia is a plus-size model and is as gorgeous as Liv. If it weren’t for her chosen career, I’m sure that Liv would be a bit heavier than her usual “star weight”.

Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy. I have always had a fondness for Liv.

    • sigh((s)) says:

Looking at those pics she looked way over 3 months. I was thinking 5. Maybe twins?

    • Ash says:

I’ve known tall women who show almost immediately, and I’ve known ones who’ve barely shown throughout their pregnancy. Same with short ones.

Every woman is different as is every pregnancy. I know that Liv’s weight has gone up and down throughout her life.

    • MissMary says:

Sometimes second (and third and fourth and so on) pregnancies show super fast.

    • Pandy says:

That’s what I was going to type Pamela!!

  6. Alarive says:

Wow! Here I am worrying if 30 is already nearing towards the age of “closing up shop” for kids and bam, she’s 37 and going for it. Awesome. That takes the edge off a bit. I love her so I’m happy for her.

    • Azurea says:

WHaaaaat? Boy, you must think there’s no good sex after 40, also 😀

    • Observer says:

I’m from a big city and here women don’t start planning for babies until around 35-40.
At 30 they think about marriage and hold off on the babies as long as they can.
I think 30 is still young and new studies have shown that most women can get pregnant at 40 naturally.

      • Alarive says:

Yes, I should have specified… I’m planning for some big changes in my life and won’t think about kids until 34-36, which I’ve heard called “advanced maternal age”. Yikes!

      • Joan says:

@Alarive — I recently gave birth at age 34 and yes, the doctors were all telling me that I was on the cusp of being high-risk due to “advanced” age. I couldn’t believe it … especially since I first gave birth at the age of 26.
35 is hardly old, especially since women are having their first kids at near or over 40. Truth is that there are risks at any time. Try not to stress too much about a number. Good luck in starting your family one day, when you are ready! 😀

I think Halle Berry put it best when she said her doctors labelled her second pregnancy as a “Geriatric Pregnancy”. She was horrified, needless to say!!

      • Ennie says:

@ ALARIVE, be careful, I got married at 34 and started immediately trying… no luck, even after different artificial very expensive methods. I was so, so confident we would get pregnant, my mom started having children at 35, but I copuld not, and it was a sad thing that we did not. We only got a false positive once and a one month empty ovum with a painful miscarriage immediately.
Advice to my younger self or gals thinking of becoming moms: do not pospone it, start trying more than a year sooner, and even get the big guns ($$$ methods) earlier.

      • Bridget says:

30 is still young… but a lot of those women who plan on having babies 35-40can end up with the unwelcome surprise of fertility problems. 35+ is considered a geriatric pregnancy, with a higher likelihood of health problems for the baby and mother. You also don’t ovulated as regularly once you hit your mid 30s. While its entirely possible to get pregnant easily and to have a healthy pregnancy at an advanced maternal age, it is a HUGE gamble.

      • Valois says:

I understand it’s not unnormal anymore, but for me, 40+ is simpley too late for a planned pregancy. Just…nope.
(The same goes out to men.)

    • Kerry says:

I turned 35 on August 30th. And I found out two days ago I’m pregnant. 🙂 Three cheers for Geriatric Maternity!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • Irishserra says:

@Azurea: Not necessarily. I “closed up shop” at 30 (a mutual decision between my husband and myself) and it has nothing to do with sex. 😉

    • Ag says:

@Alarive – once you get preggo, if you do choose to, drop your doc if they call it “advanced maternal age.” that’s apparently not the thing to do anymore – too much of a stigma. 🙂 i popped my son out at 36 after a great, rather easy pregnancy. now i’m 38 and my ob/gyn keeps hinting that my plumbing is in top-notch condition, in case we’re looking to do it again. my point is – you’re a spring chicken, hon. 🙂

      • Peppa says:

One of my best friends had a baby in June and is 36. Her OBGYN practice told her that she would have to see a high risk doctor because she was advanced maternal age, and considered a high risk pregnancy because of it.

      • Ag says:

it depends on the ob/gyn – the more recent trend is not to call is “advanced maternal age” or “high risk pregnancy” (unless it is a high risk pregnancy due to other medical factors), but docs who are more conservative/set in their ways still appear to do that.

      • Nur says:

I think that might be the thing in the US but not everywhere. Im 35 and pregnant and my doc never even mentioned high risk in relation to my age. Here, they usually insist on further testing on the baby but dont really put you out on the spot with high risk stuff unless you actually have some preexisting conditions or genetic problems (which i do).

    • Becky1 says:

30 is young! I have a friend who just had a healthy baby at 41 (unplanned pregnancy-they weren’t being careful because they thought it would be hard for her to get pregnant since she was 40+). Ideally, I think the best time to have kids is early to mid 30’s but life doesn’t always work out that way. Yes, fertility generally declines as you get older but there are women in their 20’s with fertility problems and women in their late 30’s-early 40’s who get pregnant easily…you never know.

      • Ag says:

@Bridget – your post is full of misinformation. A pregnancy at 35 and up is NOT termed a “geriatric” pregnancy. It’s either termed just “pregnancy” or, in the older terminology, “advanced maternal age pregnancy.” The risk of birth defects, while it increases with both maternal and paternal age, is NOT a “huge gamble” starting in your mid-30s.

  7. Brin says:

Congrats!! She seems to be really sweet, wish them the best!

  8. Phenix says:

Me and my ex had been together only three months when I got pregnant. The relationship didn’t last long, but I am so happy that he is my son’s father. He may not be the best boyfriend (or at least, he wasn’t for me) but he is the worlds greatest dad. So things sometimes work out ok.

    Congratulations to Liv!

  9. Emily says:

Is it just me, or do a lot of celebrity women seem to be getting pregnant with guys that they’ve barely started dating?

    • Kate says:

I’m always amazed at how fast a lot of celebs who already have kids rush into new relationships. In real life most people I know wait months before even introducing their kids to a new boyfriend/girlfriend, but in celeb land there seem to be a lot of people who jump straight from the 3rd date to family vacations.

Courteney Cox comes to mind, her now fiancee has been living with her and spending family time with her child since the night they met. I just can’t wrap my head around that.

  10. Kate says:

Given she’s a pretty tall woman it would be quite odd for her to have such a noticeable bump that early. If they’ve really only been dating for 4 months, then in those pictures she’d only be 3 months along. That doesn’t quite add up, they must have been together at least a couple of months longer.

    • sally says:

THAT. or he’s not the dad…

      • tracking says:

Idk, second child shows much earlier (I was pretty shocked by the difference). Also, she’s not a skinny minnie, and those hormones can really puff you out.

      • Size Does Matter says:

My second pregnancy didn’t start to show till five months, and I’m 5’8″. I’m sure she’s taller. Everybody is different.

But…just for the fun of shameless, ridiculous rumor-mongering, there is that certain reportedly well-endowed costar of hers about whom items have been circulating lately…

    • supposedtobeworking says:

my second pregnancy wasn’t noticable until I was almost 7 months. I’m 5’7.

    • Ennie says:

      may be bloat.

  11. escondista says:

Probably just knew what she wanted and can afford to do it.
    Congrats to them!

    • supposedtobeworking says:

I remember how devastated she was when her marriage ended, so 1) I am not surprised she is adding to her family and 2) yay for her. I could imagine her being happy about it. She didn’t grow up in a conventional family, so I don’t know why people expect that she will create one. Based on her interviews, she seems to have good relationships with her parents and siblings.

  12. lucy2 says:

Wow, that must have happened very quickly in their relationship.

  13. HappyMusic says:

I really like Liv. Congrats to her!

  14. Nikki says:

Agree that he’s probably not the dad if she’s looking so far along, unless maybe twins..

  15. BendyWindy says:

I’m trying hard, and totally failing, at not judging. I don’t understand women, especially fully adult women who are middle class and richer (and thus have access to healthcare and birth control), who get pregnant “accidentally.” Especially by someone you’ve only just started dating. You can never truly “know” another person, but damn, you should give it more than a month before deciding to have a kid with them.

    • Greyson says:

I agree that this all happened too fast.. She barely knows him! He was dating Rita Ora last year! Now he’s ready to be a dad again and have blended family with Liv? (She has 1 child, he as 2 with his ex-wife)

This is sketchy IMO. At least if they don’t work out, Liv has her own money to support herself.

    • supposedtobeworking says:

Perhaps they have known each other for awhile, but just recently started dating?

    • Bridget says:

No birth control is 100% effective, even at age 37.

  16. Charle says:

I think possibly they may have been together longer than what the press are reporting. It is possible to keep your relationship under wraps even in Hollywood! Just look at Chris Martin and Jennifer Lawrence who according to reports have been dating since June/July I think.
You can’t really judge people for getting pregnant very early into relationships, if they are both happy then cest la vie!

  17. Hautie says:

I would be inclined to think that they knew each other socially for a while. Friends in common. Same restaurants/parties/events they all attend in NYC.

Simply cause there are not many months worth of paparazzi pictures to dwell over. Does not mean they were not part of the same social set of friends. Plus I find it hard to believe she picked some random jump off for a future Father, of her child.

Liv is a girl with her own income. Who works to pay her own bills. So if she wanted to get pregnant. It is her business.

  18. tracking says:

Seems like it must have happened very early, in that crazy heat of the moment sex haze. Glad they seem to enjoy spending time together. Hope it works out for all parties.

  19. Lex says:

Maybe she just wanted a baby and they went for it? If it doesn’t work out, so be it. Kid would still have two parents. Who cares?

  20. TX says:

    Congrats to them!

Not trying to be snarky, but what does this guy do? Best I can tell his job is being David Beckhams friend….?

  21. Allison says:

I’m throwing it out there and seeing if it sticks…

    This baby is Justin Theroux’s.

    • Kori says:

I had thought to myself–I wonder when that may come up? LOL There were just the stories on them and then *bam*. Combined with Jen Aniston’s perpetual will she/won’t she have kids and it’s a tabloid dream even if it’s 100% fictional.

    • Bubulle says:

I thought that too, oh the drama.

    • Tiffany says:

Allison, you beat me to it. Coooonnnspiracy!!!!!!

    • Cinderella says:

I’m glad I’m not the only suspicious one. She looks further along than a few months. She spent a lot of time with Justin over the last several months, and she liked his bulge. Ruh-roh.

      • Bubulle says:

She is reportedly 4 months along, around the same time she was introduced to her BF, I wish it was Joaquin’s baby, loved them together.

    • Sleepyjane says:

      Mmmhhh hmmm.
      *sips tea*

    • mia girl says:

I see your gossip mongering and will raise you…
      It is Theroux’s.
BUT, Tyler agree to be a surrogate for Theroux and Aniston so she could finally have that damn baby everyone’s been talking about!
      Boom!

      • blue marie says:

Haha, you beat me to it.

      • Candy Love says:

@ Mia girl. I see you and I raise you
        ^
        ^
        ^

Justin Theroux’s is the real Father of Liv Tyler’s baby!!

Angelina used her evil power to put a spell on Liz that made her subdue Justin and have his baby. Jen is so devastated and feels that the universe doesn’t what her to be happy or have a baby. Brad ran out of the run crying when he heard the news and Angelina laugh evilly ( her Maleficent laugh ) .

    • Sullivan says:

Theroux being the daddy would be gossip gold.

      • Jen2 says:

Even if he isn’t, that won’t stop the tabloids from declaring that he is. It could be their bread and butter for months to come. I can only imagine the tacky cover stories.

    • Peppa says:

We will know for sure if the baby comes out with shoe polish black hair, wearing jeggings.

  22. Frida_K says:

She likes chinless British guys, doesn’t she?

  23. Candy Love says:

Hopefully the relationship works out and she won’t end up a single mother of two.

  24. Marianne says:

Wow, based on the photos I’ve seen…she already looks 3 months along. Call me a cynic, but I doubt this relationship will last long since its starting immediately with a baby in the picture.

  25. BlueJay says:

Well – Brad and Angie did this exact thing – pregnant only knowing each other a few weeks. It seemed to work for them. Maybe these two are just passionately in love.

    • Jen2 says:

Brad and Angelina met in 2004 while filming Mr and Mrs Smith, they started dating in spring 2005, they moved in together after she adopted Zahara in summer of 2005 and she got pregnant late in the fall of 2005. I think they knew each other longer than a few weeks.

    • lisa2 says:

You should invest in a calendar before you comment about when and how long they were together before their child was born. If you calculations were right Shiloh would have been born in 2005 and not 2006.

Not sure why you even brought them up. I guess in the 9+ years since they have been together before getting married. there has not been another celeb couple to have a child.

  26. Lia says:

Torso length seems to have more of an impact on showing early than overall height. I’m 5’8″ and have shown very early with both pregnancies. I’m very short waisted. Liv looks to have a leggy figure, with a fairly small torso relative to her height. With a body like that there’s really nowhere for the uterus to go but out.

    • belladonna says:

Throwing a wrench at you with this one… I’m short waisted/long legged and I didnt show with either one of my kids until 25 weeks. My theory is that it has something to do with the tilt of our pelvis and width of our uterus/hips. I was told I had the widest uterus they ever saw. Hahaha. Not sure if thats a compliment or an insult 🙂

  27. mkyarwood says:

Oh, Liv. She’s her character from Stealing Beauty, I swear. Falls fast and too hard.

  28. siri says:

The Daily Mail reported she’s four month pregnant…she’s a fast girl, isn’t she? She always talked about wanting another child- only she doesn’t really know te guy…

  29. Bucky says:

If she’s already that bumpy, she’s probably at least 4 months pregnant, which makes me think they’ve been together more than four months, just undercover. Congrats to them.

  30. Luciana says:

I have loved this woman since her Armageddon’s days. So beautiful to look at! I do not follow her personal life but as far as I recall she’s good friends with Kate Hudson. Didn’t Kate get pregnant right away after meeting Matt Bellamy? …..

Anyway, congratulations on her new baby! Hope it’s girl!

  31. Redletterday says:

Yeah the timeline makes it not unrealistic to suspect Theroux as the baby daddy. They started filming the Leftovers in “the dead of winter” according to a quote from Liv. And by June, they were “like a family.” Mmhmnm

  32. Gina says:

Awesome….all of the rags and some rag sites were trying so hard to make her and Justin Theuroux (sp) happen…haha, wrong again!

  33. Sam says:

Uhh, just another 37 year old disparate to get prego before her prime days are gone.

  34. yep. says:

Ha! The peasants girls are going to be pissed they get the side eye and stoning for being a fast ho, getting implanted with a little stranger. No congrats for them!
