Benedict Cumberbatch. Soaking wet. In a lake. Like Mr. Darcy. For charity.

Benedict Cumberbatch. Mr. Darcy. Benedict Darcy. Fitzwilliam Cumberbatch. Everything.

Benedict Cumberbatch posed for this very special photo for charity. Which makes it even better, right? Benedict is supporting the Give Up Clothes for Good campaign, a partnership between TK Maxx and Cancer Research UK. People can donate clothes and accessories to TK Maxx or Goodwill stores and the money goes to Cancer Research UK. You can read more about it at TK Maxx.

Benedict is one of many dropping trou to support this, but most sites are just focusing on Benedict’s photo because… obviously. He would have been a perfect Mr. Darcy, right? Don’t get me wrong, I love Colin Firth’s Mr. Darcy and I even love Matthew Macfadyen’s Mr. Darcy, but Benedict should have played Mr. Darcy at some point too. Benedict could easily play posh and rude, but end up getting the girl. Why hasn’t Benedict done some Jane Austen adaptation at some point? Now he’s getting old enough to play Sense & Sensibility’s Col. Brandon. Which would also be kind of hot.

Anyway, everything’s coming up Cumberbatch these days. The Imitation Game won The People’s Choice Award at TIFF. That’s pretty much the grand prize. Which means…? I’m not sure, but I really do think he might get an Oscar nomination this year. Don’t count your Cumbers before they’ve Batched though.

I don’t get the attraction to him. He looks like a praying mantis.

  2. Leftovers says:

I am fascinated by the Alien Overlord, but this particular set of pictures… no.

  3. 'P'enny says:

Give Up Clothes for Good campaign

    the irony!

    LOL!

yes very nice – but not as good as Colin Firth. But, still very nice indeed.

  4. Duri says:

I don’t like this pic much, he looks very sea monsterish lol. But agreed Kaiser, he needs to play Mr. Darcy or a similar character like NOW

Anyways I am so happy TIG won People choice award. Cumby is coming for that Oscar nomination 😀

    • MissMary says:

NGL, I kinda want to see him as Rochester in Jane Eyre.

      • Sunny says:

I cosign this to the millionth degree. He is no Darcy because I don’t see him being able to tap into that vulnerable place that Darcy reaches after Elizabeth’s rejection. But as Rochester- Hell Ya.

      • MissMary says:

@Sunny: I’m sure he could pull off some measure of vulnerable (IMHO, lol. I think he’s a great actor so…maybe?) but I just don’t think he’d have “it” to be Mr Darcy. Rochester, I can easily picture him in that role. Fassy was good, but I’d love to see BC in it.

      • Janet says:

I don’t see Cumberbach as Rochester AT ALL!! In fact, of all the versions of Jane Eyre, there have been only two good Rochesters: 1) Orson Welles and 2) Timothy Dalton. The Welles movie butchered the book almost beyond recognition but casting him and Joan Fontaine was perfect.

Timothy Dalton was a total surprise. He usually gives me a bad case of the “meh’s” but he was magnificent as Rochester. And so was his co-star (I forger her name) as a very spunky, feisty Jane. The only actress who was cast wrong was young Jane, who was supposed to be small, thin and under-nourished; the actress who played her looked like she could go ten rounds against a lady wrestler, but she gave a competent performance anyway. And the film script was by far the best adaptation from the book of any Jane Eyre movie made to date.

  5. MissMary says:

Jason Bell is doing the lord’s work. (NGL though I first read TK Maxx as TJ Max and though wow did he hit hard times already?)

    • TQB says:

TK Maxx is the UK arm of TJ Maxx.

      • MissMary says:

welp, then i wasn’t far off lol. no but I thought he was doing ads for the stores, at first glance. Stateside, usually when you see a celeb doing an ad for TJ Maxx or similar, times are tough for ’em.

  6. Lizzie says:

How good would he be in a Sense and Sensibility!?!
I don’t have an opinion on him either way looks wise but man alive this photo is hot!

  7. gobo says:

I like him but in the water all I can think of is otters that look like Benedict Cumberbatch. More cute than sessy.

  8. littlemissnaughty says:

    Excellent. *pours wine*

  9. M.A.F. says:

This might be the first still photo of him where I think he looks good. To me, he is one of those human beings you need to see in motion.

    • Size Does Matter says:

I haven’t seen any of his work, and, until this photo, I didn’t get the appeal. Now, count me in. That photo is hot.

    • Lauren says:

Everyone must hear his voice and watch him In motion. Unbelievably sexy-classy Loc Ness Monster.

  10. Kiddo says:

Flattened wet curl. I actually kind of like the slicked back hair. It gives him the old timey movie star vibe, on TCM. The end.

    • mimif says:

      Forensic analysis complete. Case closed.

      • Kiddo says:

haha, no special sarcasm swat required. How are the fires?

      • mimif says:

I think the one closest to me is mostly contained, annnd we’ve got (one day) of rain in the forecast for the first time since April, so things are looking up. How is the chunky necklace collection?

      • Kiddo says:

I’m focusing on my temporary FRANCO tat collection, at the moment, and a moob lifter. Maybe I’ll start a line of Walter-tightie-White-ys. I know two people who might buy them so far: you and Justin Theroux.

      • mimif says:

I’m going to pretend you didn’t just include Justin “double stuffed” and WW in the same sentence. Moob hoarder.

      • Kiddo says:

@mimif, yeah, right. that’s worse than photos of a sweaty velveteen-tuxedo-suited MM and Franco. (And I don’t actually love Franco for Franco. I only love the concept of Franco)

      • mimif says:

I know exactly why you love Franco and I know exactly why you dislike moobs. I wasn’t born yesterday, naked and sweaty bongo playing lover.

P.S. I think Walter White has a teeny bit of moobage, but unlike some people, my love is unconditional, not conceptual. Wait, are you an artist?

      • Tiffany :) says:

Speaking of art…I found this HUGE sculpture of Colin Firth in this exact scene, and it has me laughing uncontrollably!

  11. ncboudicca says:

Alan Rickman is MY Colonel Brandon.

  12. Birdix says:

I didn’t catch my breath as I did the first time seeing Colin Firth coming out of the lake, but do appreciate what a beautiful photograph this is. With the water so still (and reflective) and the fabric damp and crinkled, makes you want to reach out and touch it, there are so many great textures.

    • icerose says:

Colin looked relaxed and natural but this feels like someone trying to hard to look sexy -sends the wrong kind of shivers up my spine

  13. The New Classic says:

I’d love to reach out and touch all his textures…. *ahem*… I mean… He looks very nice in this picture..

And is that actual CHEST HAIR I see? I thought he had gotten into that horrible Hollywood habit of waxing it all off. I like him better when he isn’t so damn groomed!

    • Andrea says:

I personally liked waxed chests but to each their own. Oddly enough, I don’t mind facial hair.

      • The New Classic says:

I usually prefer waxed chests as well, but for some reason with Cumby I want him as untouched as possible. I get positively weak in the knees when I see pics of him with stubble. I was loving TIFF till he shaved his face!

  14. L says:

You need to see Parade’s End. WWI posh and rude guy that ends up getting the girl.

    • lindy79 says:

I don’t think of Tiejens as rude, just a hopeless and at times spineless man trying to cling on to values and traditions in a world changing around him. He gets the girl (and happiness) when he accepts he has to change with it.

    • jammypants says:

yea, I found him overly polite. But posh, he was.

  15. Sarah says:

I have never seen the attraction for him…..until this photo. Now THAT is hot!

  16. sigh((s)) says:

I want Richard Armitage as Darcy. I realize it would almost be a rehash of North and South, but damn I loved N&S.

    • 'P'enny says:

me too! In North and South I love the yellow flower scene on the train….

almost as good the yellow flower scene in Return to Cranford. 🙂

      • sigh((s)) says:

I have not seen Return to Cranford. Should I?

      • frisbeejada says:

@ sigh((s)) – Return to Cranford has Tommy Hiddles in it – just saying…

      • Lilacflowers says:

Ahem, ‘p’enny! I see what you are doing and we have been so good lately. Are you referring to the outdoor scene in which the yellow flowers are discussed or the indoor scene during which the intense heat of the young man in the room causes the yellow flower to bloom? I do believe there was a bed in the latter scene. Pulling myself together to muse on the mysterious inhabitants of Skull Island.

      • sigh((s)) says:

It is now in my Netflix queue! I can’t believe I’ve missed british tele with Hiddles….forgive my slacking

      • koko says:

I believe I too am musing on the inhabitants of Skull Island. Sounds like an adventure for all of us.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@sigh(s), with Dame Judi, Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Rory Kinneat, half of Downton Abbey, Andrew Buchan, and a lovely Greg Wise, it is quite enjoyable. And Hiddles curls at their curliest.

@Koko, Skull Island has high humidity, doesn’t it? I’m just wilting at the thought of damp shirts plastered against sweaty skin.

      • TotallyBiased says:

Y’all are on such good behavior. I ‘m most impressed…

      • Lilacflowers says:

@totallyBiased, it is so difficult but I hope we have an island thread tomorrow. Now, I’m going to find a big, hairy ape to climb a building with me so I can wait to be rescued.

      • icerose says:

Yea to hot and sweaty and can we have a return to the sauna look .So it was something completely under the radar -will he wear a skull bow tie at the premier,

      • pixie-stix says:

@Lilacflowers – bless you for mentioning damp shirts plastered against sweaty skin.
*Mixing Mai Tai’s for tomorrow’s thread.*

      • TotallyBiased says:

Lilac, Ice, et al, we even have the makings of a poss controversy w/Chemboy’s latest announcement. I will try to leave y’all a little present in the other guy’s still-open thread.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@icerose, perhaps the cuff links at the Oliviers were a signal to us.

@pixie stix, Mai tais for breakfast! I’ll accomplish nothing at work tomorrow.

@totally biased, I thought that thread closed earlier today but I’ll check. I need a vacation with Thor and his brother.

        Wet shirts for everyone!

Just made me laugh, is all 😀

    • Andrea says:

      I love North & South too! 🙂

  17. Charlie says:

I might be alone in this one, but Matthew MacFadyen was my favourite Darcy, even better than Firth. I even prefer Keira to Ehle. Sacrilege, I know.

    • MissMary says:

Firth has a special place in my heart but I loved MacFadyen’s portrayal, too. And I admit to preferring KK’s Lizzie… she struck me as closer to the book portrayal.

    • Charlie says:

It might be because I’m 21, but I never found Firth hot, he’s just too old for me, and I preffered the insecure Darcy.

      • MissMary says:

I think the insecure aspect of MacFadyen’s portrayal is what sold me.

      • RobN says:

        “I never found Firth hot”

It’s like I can read the words but they don’t make any sense. Have you seen the Firth walking out of the pond scene?

      • MissMary says:

I legit think that pond scene jumpstarted me into puberty.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I just tried googling the scene because I haven’t watched it before. But…he didn’t walk out of the pond! It cut from him swimming in the pond (after diving in), to him walking across the field nearly dry. I didn’t see him emerge from the lake.

Did I see some weird edited version?

    • FrenchLily says:

I prefer Colin Firth’s Darcy. But I do prefer Keira’s Elizabeth. Jennifer Ehle is a great Lizzy but Keira’s Lizzy was closer to Jane Austen’s one.

    • Lempicka says:

You are not alone, its McF for me as well.

    • Janet says:

I hated McFeyden’s Darcy. He was nothing like how Austen wrote him. If there is one thing Darcy wasn’t, it was insecure. In the book he was arrogant, full of himself, and all-around insufferable. And I didn’t like Firth’s Darcy either. No way you would ever see that stuffed shirt jumping into a lake.

The best version of “P & P” so far has been the one BBC filmed in 1980 with Elizabeth Garvie as Elizabeth and David Rintoul as Darcy. Both of them were perfect and they totally looked the part. And the script was by far the best adaptation of the book.

We won’t even get into that ghastly Hollywood movie from 1935 or thereabouts where all the women’s costumes looked like knockoffs from Gone With The Wind and Greer Garson looked like she should have been playing Elizabeth Bennet’s mother.

      • Charlie says:

Elizabeth Garvie looked exactly like I envisioned Elizabeth when I read the book ( her eyes are beautiful), but all in all, I didn’t like that adaptation.
Has someone seen Death comes to Pemberley? I thought Matthew Rhys and Ann Maxwell Martin were good as Darcy and Elizabeth, too. And Jenna Coleman was great as Lydia.

      • jammypants says:

THANK YOU! I could not stand McFayden’s portrayal. I’ve read the book so many times and he’s just not Darcy.

      • icerose says:

the best thing I Death comes to Pemberly was Matthew Goode.

      • Boredsuburbanhousewife says:

God, I still love Rintouls Darcy. Perfection, though I like Colin’s too. But Matthew–much as I love and admire him as an actor, he just doesn’t do anything for me that way. Liked KK and Garvie, no to Ehle.

    • delorb says:

You’re not alone. He’s my Darcy as well.

  18. kennedy says:

I cannot for the life of me see what’s so great about this man. Like, at all. I already know who I am actively rooting against this awards season :/.

    • Duri says:

Not finding him attractive and rooting against him for awards don’t correlate. He is talented and should be acknowledged for his performance irrespective of ones take on his looks.

If that was the way then actors like PSH would never win an award.

      • Charlie says:

Was PSH ever so present in the media? Or did he hace such a rabid fan base? I like Cumberbatch as an actor, but his fangirls thend to creep me out.

      • Duri says:

Oh so just cz he has a rabid fan base (again not in his control), one has the right to hate on him…..weird logic

      • Charlie says:

I don’t hate him, I’m just saying that that is what tends to annoy me with him, even though he is a good actor and seems to be a lovely person ( a bit famewhorish, though)
And if I did hate him, I would have the right for what ever reason I want, thank you very much.

      • jammypants says:

I don’t think logic always applies when it comes to love and hate. Both can make one blind to logic if anything.

    • delorb says:

Do you get a vote? No? So rooting for or against won’t really make a difference.

  19. PunkyMomma says:

My Otter in his natural habitat. 😍

  20. V says:

He kind of has a Christopher Reeve thing going on in this picture

  21. Reece says:

Favorite Austen Performances: The Men (in order)

–Darcy: Colin Firth (Please As If there could be anyone else), Daniel Gordh (Lizzie Bennett Diaries), Lawrence Olivier (that entire movie is a total caricature but it’s entertaining-ish), Matthew MacFadyen (one of the few things I could stand about that adaptation)
–Colonel Brandon: Alan Rickman (As If), David Morrisey
    –Edward: Dan Stevens, Hugh Grant
–Mr Knightley: Jonny Lee Miller, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Northam, Mark Strong (was alright but I could not stop staring at his hair)
–Frederick Wentworth: Ciaran Hinds and Rupert Penry-Jones (I can’t pick)

    • RobN says:

      Ciaran Hinds. Always Ciaran Hinds.

    • Micki says:

Ahh, Frederick Wenworth: that’s a difficult one isn’t it? I loved both films but I go slightly in favour of Ciaran Hinds.
As for Mr.Darcy I think that Cumberbatch may even be a better Darcy than MacFadyen.I like him best in period drama.

      • Charlie says:

No one can be a better Darcy than MacFadyen.

      • Micki says:

I thought MacFadyen was more insecure and awkward Darcy rather than arrogant and resentful but that’s personal taste.

      • Reece says:

@Micki My preference changes depending on my mood. I think they are both great adaptations but the RPJ one is more subdued.

@Micki & Charlie I think the choice between the Darcys is a purely a preference thing. In general I hated that movie but I did like MacFadyen.

      • Reece says:

I don’t know about Cumberbatch in this period though. I’d have to see it.

      • Janet says:

What Micki said. Whatever Darcy was, he wasn’t awkward and insecure. I thought he was an arrogant jerk who needed a set-down which Elizabeth threw in his face.

    • L says:

Ruper Penry-Jones was to pretty to play Frederick Wentworth in my opinion. Ciaran Hinds FTW.

    • 'P'enny says:

      nice list!

but yes, Ciaran Hinds was magnificent in Persuasion ! for me, much better than Rupert Penry Jones.

I also like Peter Firth [talking Spooks Alumni] in Northanger Abbey, great blonde curls.

  22. curegirl0421 says:

I think that picture got me pregnant.

    *pees on stick*

    Yep.

  23. kri says:

Fainting couch! Smelling salts! Butterfly net to catch panties that are flying around room. Someone fan me.

  24. Green Girl says:

Now, this kind of slicked-back look I like, not that funeral director hairdon’t he was sporting while promoting STiD.

I love the photo, but I’m sorry, that white fabric thingy in the bottom left corner looks toilet paper. I guess we’re supposed to think it’s fabric ripped off in the heat of the moment, but it doesn’t quite look like that to me.

  25. Innie Outie says:

Not digging this pic at all. Can’t put my finger on the vibe The Batch and his photographer went for in the first place. But then again, I’ve never found Ben remotely sexy, so maybe that’s the reason?

    • icerose says:

I just got fed up with all his pronouncements and the PR process. Not sure how much of it was him or how much the press but some of the quotes were horrendous.
I cannot understand why he even went for the look I the above photos -it borders on laughable, Great that he is supporting the charity but a shame they could not come up with something a bit more innovative

      • delorb says:

When I venture over to other threads and voice my opinion of some actors, people admonish me for saying I don’t get their appeal or that I don’t find them sexy at ALL. “we get it. you don’t like him/her.”, is the usual response. So I’ve stopped commenting on whether or not I’d do them (decidedly won’t…EVER) I wonder why the same isn’t done in this instance? Hmm….

      • Maggie says:

        @ Icerose
What pronouncements and what horrendous quotes are you talking about? Are you talking about TIFF interviews because I thought he and Keira did very well?

He probably went for the look in the photo because the charity is about giving away clothes and most of the publicity.promotion shots feature celebrities either with nothing on (tastefully) or in the throes of taking clothes off. I am sure it was a collaborative effort on the part of the photographer, Benedict and the charity.

      • An says:

They did pretty well, Maggie, considering the inane questions and questionable publications that manage to get into the TIFF press ring each year. I’m sure Harvey wants more, since control is now out of Cumberbatch’s hands, but I believe the actor is in rehearsals for THC now.

Couldn’t care less about the pic, it’s for charity so works for me. It’s just a day that ends in ‘y’ on here.

      • Maggie says:

        @ An
I agree there were some inane questions at both the press conference and the Q & A after the screening. Asking about social media after watching that film? Come on any of us could have come up with miles better questions LOL.

      • Luna says:

        Clearly you don’t like him.
        You are not a teenager.
        Move on!

      • caitlin says:

Do you mean at TIFF? I thought a lot of the questions they got were dumb, but BC is pretty eloquent and answered well. I certainly didn’t see anything wrong with anything he said?

    • Bren says:

      @delorb
I agree completely. There are a few who always seem to be “over here” offering up constant criticism. The same does not seem to be appreciated “over there”. If I don’t care for a certain actor/celeb, I tend to steer clear and not waste my time.

      @Luna
      Exactly…Move on!

      • delorb says:

        @Bren,

So true. Its so bad that even when I do post stuff ‘over there’ that’s not about ‘doing’, its misinterpreted as comparing the two actors or just hate in general. For the record, I’m not always sunshine and lollipops about Benedict’s decisions, so it stands to reason that I won’t be about any other actor either. I have no sacred cows. Not even President Obama, who I love to pieces.

      • Bren says:

Yeah, no one should be put up on a pedestal. They’ll only end up disappointing you later. Even though he’s far from perfect, I love Obama as well. Saying that in certain circles in America is like treading into shark infested water.

  26. Annie says:

I don’t get your obsession with him at all, Kaiser.

  27. From North of Boston says:

    Very nice. Very nice indeed.

  28. GeeMoney says:

Keep up your obsession with him, Kaiser! I love him just as much as you do (must be a Virgo thing). 🙂

  29. Tippet says:

He’s so goddamned beautiful, it’s unreal

  30. lindy79 says:

Did anyone else watch the itv thing Lost in Austen. Some fans of Austen hated it…i loved it for what it was, harmless tv fun, but i think Elliot Cowan did a pretty good job at Darcy.

And yes i would ride him like a seahorse in this picture…

  31. Encumbered says:

And now this! He is doing me in….

    http://londonphile.tumblr.com/post/97662200956/benedict-cumberbatch-project-the-imitation

But, of course, I’d rather he be doing me….

    • ncboudicca says:

      verra nice

    • lindy79 says:

Looks great here. This kind of casualbatch i can get on board with.

“There was just something about (Alan Turing) that immediately struck a chord for me.”

Cue all the “because hes gay” comments…

      • MissMary says:

*Smdh* at the “because he’s gay”. It’s like the go-to thing if other rumors don’t pan out. Or because people are actual 12 year olds with no social skills or awareness. Blargh. I like the scruffy-batch myself and he’s working it in these pics. I prefer the undone-ness to the slicked-back and orangey makeup-ness.

I really hope TIG does well in the awards season. Even if it doesn’t win, it sounds like it was such a passion project for the folks involved that I hope it gets good reviews and returns.

    • delorb says:

Wow. Very nice indeed. The camera caught his eyes at their most blue. Very little green.

      @MissMary,

I like all the different styles, to be honest. The only thing I couldn’t get on board with were the sideburns and the slicked back Cumbercurls during Star Trek promotion. There is video of him entering Letterman with the curls intact, so someone had to actually straighten his hair to get it to look like that. >shudder<

      • MissMary says:

I don’t know if it’s him or if it’s the MUAH people at these talkies and such that insist on straight, slicked hair but I wish they wouldn’t! Or at least not so severely–it really ages him when it’s that wet-look slick thing. I remember the MUAH lady who did his stuff for the Oscars presenting last year said he asked for a “Mad Men” look .

      • delorb says:

I sincerely hope its not coming from him, because that will mean more interviews with his natural curls tied, dyed and laid to the side. Pity. As I’ve said on other forums, his long hair should be left alone. Wash, condition and put in whatever potion that’s available to reduce or eliminate any frizz. No combing, no gelling, nothing. When its short like at the Oscars, then yeah, comb it (I liked the Oscar hair), but that’s IT! I would have loved to have seen him during Star Trek with his curls waving in the breeze.

I loved his look at TIFF this year. He seemed to have lost some weight between the Ice Bucket Challenge and TIFF and it looked good on him.

      • MissMary says:

@delorb: All of what you just said, yes. I don’t like the severe combed back and over gelled thing he had going for a while there, or when they cake on the make up (the man has freckles and, like most humans, uneven skin tone, so it’s obvious when he’s spackled to high heaven at public events). He just needs to embrace the wave and curl, lol, and stop trying to tame it back like he’s Bela Lugosi’s hair double.

      • From North of Boston says:

I suspect during the Star Trek press, he was going for the slick back style because if he didn’t, he would have looked like Sherlock on the red carpet with the long dark curly hair (he was in the midst of filming). Not that many of us would have complained, but it seemed he was purposely trying to stay away from that look during the STiD press.

He seems a little more relaxed with it right now, letting the curls fly in public at times – maybe because he’s working his natural color and maybe because it’s not quite at Sherlock length.

      • MissMary says:

I remember he had some extensions for Khan so who knows how that played havoc with his hair during promotions. But I agree that he probably wanted to distance himself from being too “Sherlock” during the press junkets for STiD.

      • delorb says:

        @Boston,

Well he succeeded because no one was thinking of him as Sherlock. I wish he’d understand that its not so much as his looking like Sherlock, but his looking like sexy long-haired Batch. I for one can’t get enough of those pictures.

Buddy looks like an alien…..not attractive!

  33. betsy says:

The producer of Lost City of Z has just tweeted that Benedict will be heading to the jungle in a few months and reiterated the point in a follow up message. The old script was fantastic so really looking forward to this. I especially like the way the end of the story is explained.

    • 'P'enny says:

both my british pups are heading into the jungle, probably both filming N/Ireland. I have to go to Belfast next Spring!

    • sigh((s)) says:

I thought he was doing Richard and then Sherlock in January. Are they shooting that in the jungle as well?

      • MissMary says:

The one-off for Sherlock is definitely in January, Richard III is any day now (well, so to speak)… I’m guessing Lost City of Z will be after Sherlock wraps or a really packed shoot between Richard and Sherlock.

      • Linz says:

Richard III starts filming this week/next week, shooting ends in January. Then they start shooting the Sherlock Special.

Benedict said that they will start shooting S4, after Hamlet. He also said he is going to get in a film or two, before they start shooting S4.

Poor pootsie is going to be tired off his ass! Not conducive to extracurricular activities of a sort…. 😉

      • Jane says:

@Encumbered – I volunteer to make “poor pootsie” a nice cuppa, run him a hot bath and wash his back for him. ;P

      • Encumbered says:

@ Jane You can take the back–I’ll handle the rest!

      • Jane says:

@Encumbered – Damn, I should have thought of that! *smacks self on forehead*

  34. Breezy says:

Dang people. What’s with all the alien and lizard junk? Dude is doing something for charity and that’s the first set of comments? Like him or don’t but there’s no reason to put someone down like that. wow

Anyway, I’m glad this finally went up. Naturally when I’m not online. Go figure.

If anyone is on the fence about him or just doesn’t get the appeal and hasn’t seen any of his work, I HIGHLY suggest you do. He’s one of those people you probably won’t “get” unless you see him acting.

I rather like Fitzwilliam Cumberbatch. That’s just about as much of a mouth full as his actual name.

  35. allheavens says:

I think he would be a great Mr. Rochester and a very good Fitzwillliam Darcy (but I think he might have aged out of the latter).

  36. Mina says:

Mr Darcy he’s not, maybe cousin Elliot. Or an interesting Mr Collins.

  37. caitlin says:

I think he’s really hot, but the photo’s a bit awkwardly posed–very romance novel cover. Though I guess that might be the point? Either way, he looks good, if a bit confused, lol.

    • jammypants says:

haha your comment just put a hilarious monologue in my head:

“Why am I wet? And why is my shirt undone? Why is there a camera taking a photo of me in this state? Wait, this is for charity you say? Well, I’m alright with that. But really, what does my state of undress have to do with charity? …I’m scared of the internet reaction. Please don’t tell me how the internet reacted.” LOL

  38. Encumbered says:

Good grief! What is going on with Benedict’s hair? Either Sherlock is going to have shorter hair or there will be a wig/extensions. Taken last night: http://londonphile.tumblr.com/post/97796899131/met-benedict-cumberbatch-at-the-premier-of-20-000
    I mourn those cumbercurls….

  39. UKBound says:

I love seeing the chest hair on this one, but he looks exhausted. Is that a kilt in the water floating around him? It’s nice of him to do so much for charity.

    • anon says:

You know, UKBound-i went back and enlarged that pic. The waistband looks suspiciously like a kilt and the fabric off to the right looks like it’s floating. Pic just got WAY HOTTER! 😀

I tried paddling up behind him. Then this happened-
    Ok-he ducked his head first-
(Not sure if I did this right-just feeling a little happy about Scotland this AM).
