Katy Perry ‘cuts ties’ with Taylor Swift, Katy ‘is over Taylor’s childish antics’

Cat fight!! (I’m sorry.)

Taylor Swift dropped a not-so-subtle blind item in her recent Rolling Stone cover interview. Within hours, most people knew that the blind was about Katy Perry. Apparently, they’ve had some kind of Mean Girl rift, which may or may not be about dancers and John Mayer. To hear Taylor tell it, Katy practically destroyed Swifty’s tour by hiring away a bunch of dancers. Team Katy’s people say that dancers were always loyal to her anyway, and that Swifty has always had her nose out of joint because of they both dated John Mayer (and presumably Mayer broke Swifty’s heart). Anyway, Katy tweeted out something about Swifty being the real Regina George and people are still trying to decode exactly what happened between them. Star Magazine has some new quotes:

Dancer Lockhart Brownlie confirmed that Katy had snakes some talent from Taylor but admitted that it didn’t take much convincing: “The experiences were completely different. Taylor is very untouchable. When we did see her, we had so much fun with her, but she’s a lot more protected than Katy. Katy can do her own thing. Her team is so lovely: we have such a good connection.”

But now that Taylor brought the professional tug-of-war to light, Katy is only too happy to cut ties with her: Katy is over Taylor’s childish antics,” says a source. “Taylor should have come to Katy directly instead of bashing her to drum up publicity for her album.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

Word. I never thought I’d be #TeamKaty, but here we are. Taylor talked a lot about how she hasn’t been dating, which translates to me as “I needed to trash-talk someone in this new album, so I attacked a female acquaintance.” It’s unprofessional and cheap, and it bugs me that all of the industry people never call out Taylor on her BS.

Oh, and you know how TayTay has been cozying up to Lorde? Ellie Goulding just shared a Throwback Photo of Lorde and Katy Perry hanging out. Ha. Girl dramz. Love it. There will be more girl dramz at the European MTV Awards too – Taylor and Katy are nominated for a bunch of stuff (Katy got more nominations).

Says the girl who had whipped cream spraying out of where her nipples would be.

      +1,000

    • LK says:

I will never ever ever ever be on Team Katy ever. I always associate her with the word like ‘cheap’ and ‘tacky’ and ‘gauche’. She makes Swifty’s Rainbow Princess Unicorn Pony-ness seems like a desirable trait.

In fact, Clucky just summed up how i feel very nicely in 1 short sentence.

      • Avery says:

“Perry got more nominations” ….Talyor Swift’s Red album is almost 3 years old and she only has the one song out from her up coming album, also Swift tour was mostly stadiums she only did 86 shows while Perry way smaller gigs and has about 140 shows, very different levels .

I’m going to go on limb( not really) and read in this post that the author doesn’t like Taylor Swift, their intrepations from a obviously bullshit story consistently favor whatever makes Taylor Swft look the worst out of the two.

And forcing someone to replace a bunch of dancers in the middle of tour is trying to sabotage someone’s tour . The professional besides a friendly , decent thing would have been to not hire contracted dancers in the middle of their contract , especially when your work in a small community like they do and you yourself know how much work and prep it takes to put a world tour together.

Katy Perry seems like passive aggressive backstabber who can’t keep a friend or mate for very long… It ‘a Taylor who made public their animosity, Katy Perry would still be pretending she friends with Taylor in public…. your husband doesn’t dumb you via text cause you were such a great wife, especially when he could have asked for millions but just wanted out
She already dissed Miley publicly pretending to be her friend , then got her beat down from Miely she was good friends with Rihanna and from the rumours I’ve read Rihanna can’t stand her now.

        Team Swifty

      • Steph says:

Avery…….I think the passive aggressive award should go to Swifty.

      • T.C. says:

        @Avery

Taylor Swift also can’t keep a mate or friend for very long so they are even on that score. Writing blind item negative song about ex-friends and other girls you don’t like while passing yourself as some perfect angle is like passive-aggressive square. This move is finally getting more people to call Taylor on the carpet about her mean girl antics. Katie Perry at least is up front about her not so nice personality.

      • FLORC says:

If only given these choices i’ll side with the devil I know. Katy is out there for all to see with how she and who she is.
Taylor plays more meangirling/mindgames than most. Her image is so controlled and her security getting too aggressive goes uncovered for the most part.
I don’t like Katy, but she didn’t have Taylor drop these subtle stabs in articles and word of mouth.

      • Bridget says:

@Avery: the dancers have come forward and said they were up front with Swift before they were even hired about planning to go back on tour with Katy and even had 30 days notice built into their contracts so they could leave. Apparently Swift just didn’t think they’d actually want to leave after being with her for a while. Having a few dancers leave her tour after telling her they wouldn’t be in it for the long haul shouldn’t be considered trying to dismantle a tour.

Taylor Swift is immensely successful, but still continues to lean on the crutch of using songsto call out people that have supposedly wronged her, and riding the press those scandals create. Its gotten ridiculous.

      • Avery says:

What??? Taylor Swift’s a collector of friends, she been good friends with same crowd for years Jamie King, Emma stone, Ed Sheeran, bunch other people forget their names , even Selena she hasn’t cut off and I’m shallow enough to admit after the 10th time going back to JB I would have cut her off.

And dating guys is one thing but the marriage and numerous engagements that always turn bitter is someone who doesn’t have heathy relationships.. And the only close ( celebrity) friend was Rihanna that was in media , who can’t stand Perry these day and hasn’t been seen with in ages.

      • Louise177 says:

@Avery: You need to get your facts straight. First Red has been out for two years. Taylor played 8 or 9 stadium shows. Both singers did arena tours and played a lot of the same venues. It’s amusing that you think playing more shows is a sign of not being popular. If nobody wanted to see Katy she wouldn’t be playing so many shows. Apparently Taylor isn’t very popular in Europe. She only played a few shows in England and Germany. Whereas Katy is play about 20 across Europe. To me Taylor is a huge mean girl and passive aggressive. Look at her music. She made her career on trashing her ex-boyfriends. She always brags about not naming names but they are so see through everybody knows who she’s talking about. Also extremely melodramatic for Taylor to say a few dancers would sabotage her whole tour. Based on what I’ve seen of her show a few dancers shouldn’t effect the show.

    • Tristan says:

Anything is better than Taylor Swift. Even la Bieber, la West & Ariana Grande, utterly revolting as they are. At least they are kinda rock & roll. Taylor Swift is the blandest, most boring act in the entire world of entertainment. Even my 3 year old nephew finds her totally boring!

    • Nerdista says:

Yeah dude, they’re both pretty immature.

      • wolfpup says:

Kiss and tell is pretty obnoxious – I’m tired of that. I enjoy both of them, but it sounds like there should be apologies on both sides. That would be nice wouldn’t it – the I’m sorry” mode from both of them? That would be the dignity of it, already mentioned.

  2. don't kill me i'm french says:

Team Swift for one reason because it’s her who started “stealing” the dancers

    • Steph says:

Actually the complete story is that the dancers had a thirty day notice built into their contracts, where they indicated that they may wish to leave the tour if Perry’s tour overlapped Taylor’s tour. Taylor shouldn’t have hired them if she couldn’t honor their terms.

I never in a million years thought I would say this but Katy is right. Taylor should have contacted Perry when this occurred if she had problems. This was a very low move on Taylor’s part to slander publicly another artist. Taylor should publicly apologize immediately.

      • Mia says:

While Taylor goes out on a even bigger tour next year and Perry crappy tour ends … were will these dancers be… Ahmm probably thinking how dumb they were to burn bridges with the biggest pop star going right now ….. and how many people would hire dancers who have no loyalty to the people their working for, why ruin your rep in a small community like perfossional dancers

      • Steph says:

Mia…I don’t see how the dancers were disloyal, when they were up front about their intentions. Taylor Swift isn’t exactly the only game in town, but seeing how vindictive and diabolical Taylor is,you may have a point about the super wealthy girl child blacklisting poor struggling dancers.

      • FLORC says:

        Mia
“crappy tour” makes me think there’s a strong bias that can’t be overlooked with facts here. Unless you’re talking about poor ticket sales or bad reviews like Britney got in Vegas. I’m with Steph. The dancers weren’t disloyal. It breaks down to the wording in the contracts and how they were being treated.

      • Tiffany :) says:

The dancer’s contracts said that they had a 30 day notice clause, but they did not notify Taylor’s team that they were holding out for Katy’s tour. The fact is that Katy wasn’t planning to go on tour, so there was nothing to hold out for. By the dancer’s own admission, it was a surprise when Katy called and said she was going to go back out on tour.

Taylor’s team would never have hired the dancers if they were on hold for another tour. They would have gone with other people.

Additionally, if Katy wanted to keep the dancers, she would have had them on retainer during the down time, as that is what professionals do when they are touring sporadically but want to keep the same talent. Hopefully Katy will be on tour for the next 10 years, as other tours will not hire these dancers anymore. They are uncommitted and unreliable.

      • Avery says:

Flora .. Sorry I had friend who went and said Perry concert wasn’t that good and not just her performance but the production value and Perry was at the Air Canada centre in Toronto, while when she went to see Taylor Swift it was at the Rogers Centre , holds at least 20 thousand more people.
An if you look at her engagements many are smaller areas then anything Taylor Swift would do . Taylor Swift the first women artist to sale out and perform a stadium tour Australia , not Beyonce not Rihanna not Madonna .
Perry and Swift’s tours just don’t compete on the same level not just size of the venues but what the each gross from their touring , Taylor Swift’s way surpasses her .

      • We Are All Made of Stars says:

        @Avery

        1. Okay, so you had a friend who told you that she likes Taylor Swift better than Katy Perry, which proves nothing since she’s the friend of a TS fanatic. It’s one person’s opinion, or so you say.

        2. Swift has only started playing some stadiums recently. If Katy Perry did roughly double the amount of shows that TS did in venues that are less than half as small, (as you suggested in one of your earlier posts) doesn’t that put them a lot closer in terms of ticket sales and popularity than you’d like to admit? Also, tour earnings are calculated based on sponsorships and merchandise sales, etc. A lot of things go into the total, not just the number of people that bought tickets.

        3. If KP can’t compete with individuals who are so very far above her, then why does she frequently outearn TS on the Forbes list, or at least perform on par with Swift? You fixate on the things that allegedly make Swift so far above other stars, such as the Australia dates, all the while ignoring facts such as the top earning celeb of 2014 with the second highest earning tour of all time (Beyonce), the celeb whose 2013 tour outearned Swift’s (Rihanna), one of the highest earning musical acts of all time who is still going strong and bringing in the cash like people half her age (Madonna), and the only artist other than Michael Jackson to have ever had five number one hits from the same album (Perry). See how easy it is to pick out facts that make one person look really really good?

        4. Claiming that there is something wrong with Katy Perry because she is divorced or has called off an engagement while excusing Swift’s lovelorn behavior is a low blow. You’re talking Taylor Swift here! Come on.

  3. Jaderu says:

I bet TayTay slammed her trapper keeper on her desk and walked to her locker covered in angry tears!
I swear these two are Degrassi Jr High personified.

  4. Dany says:

    They are both idiots.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I think perhaps Taylor was immature here, but if Katy wanted to keep tabs on those dancers, she should have been paying them a RETAINER. That is how these matters are handled professionally.

Clearly the dancers were not upfront about their possibly working for Katy because 1. Katy wasn’t expected to go on tour, so why would they have mentioned it to Taylor’s team? 2. Taylor’s team would never hire dancers that would mention that they’d duck out if another artist went on tour. Tours are staffed with reliability and dependability in mind.

    • red_jane says:

      Agreed #teamnoone

  5. Abbott says:

Is this the part where Taylor slams her locker and tells everyone, “Like why’s she obsessed with me? HASHTAG OVER IT!”

  6. Size Does Matter says:

But I thought Taylor had slumber parties and beach blanket bingo with her dancers! Guess they’re more down for Last Friday Night.

  7. Ctkat1 says:

The only winner in this situation is us, because they both look ridiculous and this gossip is delicious!

  8. bns says:

I doubt they were super close to begin with. They were probably just industry acquaintances. This whole thing is being blown out of proportion.

    • whatsmyname? says:

I think Taylor herself said that they would only talk at awards shows, so yeah there weren’t really ‘friends’ to begin with,

  9. Ana says:

Pot meet kettle. Both black and with a lovely cat décor!

  10. Happy21 says:

I’m Team, which girl has more talent – Taylor Swift. She writes her own music, she can play musical instruments and she can sing.

I am a country music fan and I just had to watch CMT Crossroads with Katy and Kacey Musgraves and what torture the 20 minutes I could actually stomach was. Katy Perry should have been so embarrassed. Not only did she butcher Kacey’s songs, Kacey sang Katy’s songs better. It was TERRIBLE!

    GO Swifty!

    • Sunshine says:

Not to be the one who defends Katy, but she does write her own songs, and for other artists, too. She also plays the guitar halfway decently. They’re pretty much equal.

      • Mia says:

” Perry writes her own songs”. ,.. And she one of about 10 names on any given song on her album
Taylor Swuft produces , writes , composes her own music/ albums.

Katy changes 2 words on a song and wants her name in the credits .. Taylor had a contract at the age 16 for her music long before she became a performer.

    • Allie says:

Also, can we all stop pretending that Taylor is the one to write all of her songs? She has ghost writers! My friend from high school works in a studio in Nashville. Says that she gets loads of help to write these songs.

      • RJ says:

Yes, there was a great article in the New Yorker a few years back that described her writing “team” http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2011/10/10/you-belong-with-me

      • OhDear says:

Every time Beyonce gets a songwriting credit: Ooh, she must have just changed a word in one of the lyrics or something.

Every time Taylor Swift gets a songwriting credit: OMG, she’s so talented and in control!

      • Nina says:

        OhDear, you said it. Lmao.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I’d be more likely to believe that, but Taylor was hired first as a writer before she was a performer. She was hired for writing when she was like 13, writing for other people.

      • Veronica says:

I’ve been saying that for years. It’s not even a matter of ethics as common sense – nobody whose career is the foundation of the money machine is going to be left to chance on the shoulders of one person. ALL of them use ghostwriters. I don’t particularly care since this has been more or less an open secret for awhile, but I can’t roll my eyes hard enough when people try to argue it’s all original work.

      • Ann says:

Who doesn’t after releasing 5 studio albums in less then a decade that each had at least 14 songs per album , each more successful then the pervious .
Taylor Swift debut album , 2006 when she was just 16 and she alone wrote every song.

Fearless album, that she won the ALBUM of the YEAR she produced the album and wrote or co wrote every song.

I don’t know of any female pop artist that has won the Grammy for album of the year , Madonna never has, neither pop acts of today Rihanna, Beyonce, Pink … … Adele has who funnily enough also doesn’t write every song on her own.

Comedians have people to help them write , bounce ideals , doesn’t mean that when I see Kevin Hart it’s not his work and his name

      • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Amen Allie and Nina. I never understand why people see co-writers so differently depending on who it is that’s receiving a little collaborative help. It’s because Swift’s PR machine has always been bent on selling her as a girl genius who does everything all by herself, despite the fact that her atrocious singing and only passable instrument playing clearly indicate otherwise.

  11. pnichols says:

Team Taylor. I don’t trust KP

  12. JACK says:

Eff these weak ass bitches … Lets discuss that cute kitty cat awwwweeee ^___^

  13. MeloMelo says:

Both ae idiots but I like Taylor better.

  14. Rhiley says:

Team oh wait, I don’t give a fo shizzle!

  15. JustChristy says:

Ugh. Lockhart Brownlie doesn’t even GO to this school.

Team Bif Naked. Namaste, y’all 😉

  16. Maxine7 says:

Where’s Kanye West when you need him!

  17. Nudgie says:

I think the REAL winner here…is US! (NO, not the country or the magazine) These two will carry a bitchfest for DECADES.

Kay-Kay will eventually be claiming that Tay-Tay stole Kay-Kay’s wheelchair backup dancers’ loop-the-loop ramp and Tay-Tay will “leak” the rumor that Kay-Kay actually squirts ENSURE from her Boobie-Guns.

The fun times keep rolling on!!!

  18. lucy2 says:

LOL at Katy’s face in that 2nd photo.
I think they’re both immature and need to move on.

    • I Choose Me says:

If we’re photo assumptioning then her body language in both photos say she’s not a fan of Swifty and never have been.

  19. idsmith says:

#TeamTaylor – mostly because of a gut feeling. Can’t explain it……also can’t stand Katy’s antics – the whipped cream nipples and lots more. Taylor is way more talented too.

  20. Malene says:

She looks like Paris Hilton with her chihuahua.

  21. RdyfrmycloseupmrDvlle says:

Taylor cant seem to get along with anyone.
I loved her when she first started. Her real image was far more “Tom boy”, no make up, singing barefoot, so chill and laid back. I assumed she was a gorgeous talented lez. I loved it.
Now she is such a sell out, covered in gobs of make up that she shills at all of her concerts and starting with everyone all the time. Ugh, how fame has ruined and changed her. The quality of her “music” is luke warm, at best. Grow up Taylor and please come out of the closet.I promise we will all love you.

    • Lex says:

She did grow up… people dont remain exactly the same from teenage years to mid 20s. Most of my friends were tomboys at 14 and then evolved. Some are very girly, others less so but still very feminine. Your comment is very strange.

  22. Jack says:

Taylor was wronged and No she is not immature. But stupid gossip sites like Celebitchy will create a F’d up story to create hits.

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Oh yeah, she was really wronged….by that contractual stipulation which she was legally obligated to fulfill. And man, was that tour almost completely Blitzkreig-level DESTROYED by those three whole dancers who chose to exercise their right to terminate their employment! And all this comes to light in yet another completely upstanding and mature PR buildup to Swizzle’s new album! What a co-inkydink!

In complete seriousness, dancing is a physical job. What do you think happens if three dancers or football players or whatever get injured or sick and are unable to do their jobs? Other people come in and replace them, and life goes on as usual.

  23. Anath Pariah says:

    I like pizza.

  24. ch2 says:

The fact that Katy Perry is up for anything is what worries me. Isn’t that a sign of the apocalypse?
