Here are three looks from Jessica Chastain at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain this week. Jessica was just in London over the weekend to promote Salome, and she flew to Spain to promote The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby. James McAvoy and Chastain have been doing a lot of promotion for their film and the impression I’m getting is that they’re both really proud of it. It honestly feels like Jessica has been promoting the film for months!
As for the fashion… the first look is the maroon/pink DSquared dress, accessorized with Louboutins and a Jaeger-Lecoutre watch. From a distance, I didn’t like this but when I zoomed in on the fabric… it’s not so bad. I think the bust could fit better, but otherwise, this is a cute look.
Next up, this Michael Kors dress. Resort 2015. This is my least favorite out of the three looks – I think this dress makes Jessica look pregnant. She’s a lovely girl with a lovely figure, and this silhouette is not right for her figure – it draws too much attention to her midsection. Plus, she just needs to get away from #AllTheRuffles.
And this is her premiere look… Oscar de la Renta Resort 2015. This is a classic de la Renta silhouette and de la Renta has done variations on this dress for years. For good reason! This style is super-flattering on a lot of different body types, it’s princess-y and ballerina-esque without being twee, and you can mix it up with lots of different fabrics and patterns. So, yes, I love this. This is my favorite of the three looks. I think her overall styling is the best here as well.

I love the second dress. Looks effortless. The last look is also beautiful. The first look, no.
Morning! I also think the chest area could fit better in the first look. Other than that, I think she looks great in all of them, but the last one is my favorite.
Yes, agree. Love the Oscar.
I agree. The bust could have been better but I’m loving the color on her. And those shoes! Me wants theeeeeeem…
Love the first and third dress. The bottom on the third dress should be longer though.
If Eleanor Rigby is as great as they say, we may be sending three extraordinary red heads into the Thunder Dome against Laura Jean Poon this award season.
I was wondering about the film. I think some critics are mixed on it. They loved the original idea of the 2 films together but when they split them into a His story and Her story it got lose in mix. I think it is 60+ on RT..
I was reading some reactions after the film and some call it boring, other say she gives an outstanding performance.
I think a lot of the films that were suppose to be so great are not all living up to that hype. But I haven’t see it.
Actually the original concept was 2 separate films called His and Her. Nothing got ‘lost in the mix’ to make them since doing it that way was the director’s whole point in telling this story. Most critics are saying the opposite… that when His and Her got smoothed into Them that some of the magic was lost. Fortunately His and Her will still be released next month.
The reviews for the Them version is mixed. It’s been out for two weeks in limited release but not doing very well with the Arthouse crowd. I think Jessica’s chances are good to rest on Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
I like her first two dresses above. Thumbs down on the premiere dress.
Lol Abbot, perfect description.
I don’t get Michael Kors. I really don’t understand why he is so famous. What am I not understanding?
Have you ever been to one of his stores? Ugh. SO tacky. Everything with that HUGE MK logo stuck on and so gaudy. I agree with you, though he seems nice and I don’t like to say it.
I like a lot of his cloths.. I’m drawn to his more classic looks. I have a few of his pieces and I love them.
That’s how he used to be – classic American. Maybe I just went to a bad store on a bad day, but everything in it was gaudy and tacky and not at all what I would have expected. I was wondering what the heck happened to him.
There’s a pretty significant difference between the Kors stuff you’ll see at Macy’s and his high end stuff
his clothes have gone downhill in the last couple of years. they used to be less gaudy, more classic, and better well-made.
Kors designs are honestly great. Not all of course. I’m an addict for a MK bag. Not the silly ones with initials across, but the clutches up to the totes. And they’re practical in layout. It can get pricey, but you’ll never need another bag. And like any designer the early stuff was often the better of the bunch imo.
Here though… Ugh. JC’s waist and stomach look swollen from these cuts. Not flattering. The colors though are fine.
All three looks are just ok, in my opinion! They look “off the rack” to me….
Agree, MrsBPitt – they kinda look “outlet mall” to me, too. None of them strike me as being couture.
I kinda thought this too. The Kors outlet store has items that look just like this.
I missed that part that said couture. It just isn’t.
The fuchsia shoes with the flower on the strap. I need those.
She’s so fair that, to me, she looks blah blah blah in the white MK dress. Well, the dress kind of stinks, regardless. Fits her well, though. Love the black and white one… If the first one was better fitted in the chest, it would be okay. As it is, I don’t care for it.
She has major tailoring issues when it comes to her bust. It’s consistently off. I can’t put my finger on it, but it distracts me to the point where I can’t appreciate the whole look most of the time.
She needs a new stylist as all of these looks are problematic. The color of the first is divine on her but the fit is off and the shoes are just wrong. The second look is just bad. The third dress is nice but the styling is completely wrong. Drag king makeup and aging hair! Boring shoes. That dress would look could with shoes in a color. A deep blue would be nice.
The Black dress!
I like the first dress, but not on her. I could see Taylor Swift wearing it well. The second one is just a no. It does not flatter her figure. The third one is the winner, for sure.
Are dust ruffles on dresses becoming a thing now:(
she’s lovely in all, while the black has the edge.
i’m just THRILLED that her hair is finally, finally styled well.
she’s found someone who knows styles that flatter her.
I like the color of the top dress on her, it’s flattering, but the tailoring/sizing is bad. The black dress is perfectly nice, but I feel like it has been around for years. It just feels very familiar.
The second one is perfect because it really compliment her body. The rest are fine. At least, these looks are far better that the cream/yellow disaster she wore a couple of days ago.
I repeat: Jessica Chastain is this year Jude Law. She’s been everywhere promoting 10 dozen of different films. Not a good PR move in my opinion.
I’ll out myself as a pleb. Other than seeing her on this website, I have no idea who Jessica Chastain is. I’ve never seen any of her movies, I’m not a fan of her look, and her fashion is boring.
Love all 3, but my absolute faves are numbers one and three. I am coveting those shoes in the first pic, although i could never wear them!
I think I like her hair better without bangs. Otherwise, gorgeous woman.
I like all three dresses. Love how she goes for simple and classic retro. The fabric on the first one IS super cool!
