Lindsay Lohan may convert to Judaism for Samantha

Lindsay and Sam’s off and on relationship is on-again, as we saw from their canoodling on a cross-Atlantic flight. Now that they have temporarily kissed and made up, it seems like Lindsay may be trying to take their relationship up another notch – she may be converting from Catholicism to Judaism. One of the reasons the pair flew across the pond was to attend Samantha’s half-brother Joshua’s bar mitzvah, and Lindsay was present for the ceremony. She was also at the synagogue the day before, accompanying Sam. When asked by a paparazzo if she was converting, she replied “I’m trying,” and has even updated her Facebook profile to “I’m converting.”

LiLo visited a London synagogue with her DJ girlfriend on Friday. And then she returned to the same place of worship in South Kensington for more yesterday – as Samantha’s official date for the bar mitzvah of her half-brother Joshua Ronson.

And Lindsay showed she’s really becoming part of the family by joining in with the post-bar mitzvah lunch in London’s Mandarin Oriental hotel.

Lindsay has even made her decision “official” – by updating her Facebook profile to say “I’m converting”. That’s commitment.

LiLo and Sam walked into the synagogue arm-in-arm for their first visit on Friday. When an onlooker asked the Hollywood starlet if she was converting, Lindsay revealed: “I’m trying.”

The recovering alcoholic, who was brought up Catholic, now faces lessons in the Jewish faith before an official conversion can take place.

The article also says that she’s staying at singer Bryan Adams’ place while she finishes up her album, and his flat is just down the street from the synagogue (as well as the nightclub scene). Lucky girl – she’ll be able to go straight from her Judaism classes to the clubs! It’s fascinating how people insist on calling Lindsay a “recovering addict” when she has clearly put no effort into the process. Immediately out of rehab, she was seen holding water bottles full of vodka under her table at clubs, and there are still rumors of her cocaine use.

Sam and Lindsay have an undeniably chaotic relationship, and it seems like Lindsay is the instigator of many of their fights. So it’s not surprising that she thinks converting to her girlfriend’s religion would smooth things over with Samantha. Converting to your significant other’s faith is a huge step, and while I would usually say “good for you,” to someone making that commitment, I can’t see these two lasting through the summer. Hopefully either Samantha or her rabbi sees this “conversion” for what it really is.

I really hope the meaning behind her two-toned hair is that she is getting rid of that horrid (on her) blonde hair.

Maybe we can bribe Sam to chop off the extensions?

As much as I don’t think she belongs to the film industry and needs help to deal with her demons, I think with respect to her relationship with Samantha- such a step would be like marrying someone.

So, I say- good for her, as I would for any other couple that made such commitment of love.

Just because they are 2 women, doesn’t mean we should not congratulate them as we would be happy for any other straight couple.

It’s obviously a step one would take only if it’s for life and out of the deepest love and devotion.

Am I the only person who thinks sam looks like hayden christenson?

I think it’s great and shows their commitment to each other. It’s been reported that Lindsay has attended services with Samantha last on Jewish holidays, so I don’t think it would be too surprising. The only the I was wondering about was the Jewish faith’s acceptance of same sex relationships…I thought they against them like most other religions. The sites over the weekend reported that synagog they visited was open to marriage between couples of different faiths…not same sexes. Hopefully they’ll be able use their shared faith as a foundation whether the church accepts them or not!

I only hope it’s a genuine conversion. Our personal paths to God and our choices in religion are so personal and so integral to our lives once we commit to them…at least, they are when they are really from the heart and spirit.

I hate seeing people convert for the wrong reasons or without true conviction. I just don’t see how a drunk drama queen could possibly be in that place, but I hope I’m wrong. I really do.

And, P.S. (here’s my snarky comment for the day)…is THAT what we’re wearing to religious events nowadays? Could she not find a hairbrush. /tsk tsk.

To be honest I wouldn’t mind converting for SamRo too! She is precious and kind of sexy. Girl Crush!!

  8. Michele says:

Ugh. Why do people still give Lohan all this unwarranted attention? She doesn’t do anything productive, and she looks like crap. Famous for being famous. Only in America.

  9. Baholicious says:

@Rohan, if Samantha and her family are the members of a Reform congregation it would be tolerant of same-sex relationships.

  10. the original kate says:

i hope that baby has all her shots, being that close to lindsey lohan and all.

  11. morgs says:

She is such a devout practicing Catholic, I’m sure she’ll be a devout practicing Jew. Give me a break.

  12. becca says:

Rohan Fan: The Orthodox aren’t a fan of same-sex relationships. But I highly doubt that Sam is Orthodox, so it’s all good for them. 🙂 I’m guessing that the Reformed sect will be much more easy-going than the Conservative sect, but they may have loosened up, so…

  13. Codzilla says:

original kate: Lol! I was just wondering aloud why that woman would allow Lindsay within breathing distance of her child.

manda: No, I think so too.

  14. Baholicious says:

Becca, the Orthodox don’t even consider the Conservative or Reform Jews to be true Jews, no matter what their orientation might be.

  15. This is quite a up-to-date info. I’ll share it on Twitter.
