Is Taylor Swift’s new single ‘Out of the Woods’ about Harry Styles? Yep.

Here ^^ is the November cover of Harper’s Bazaar Germany. It’s an interesting cover shot for Taylor Swift, although it makes me slightly uncomfortable because it looks like some kind of government propaganda image. Like, I could see this photo on posters calling for all of the youth to participate in The Hunger Games or something. I also think it’s weird that the article is called “Queen Bee.” Don’t the Germans know that we only have one Queen Bee and that’s Queen Beyonce?! The Hive is going to get mad at Bazaar Germany, I’m just saying.

Meanwhile, Taylor dropped her second single on midnight, two nights ago. I kept waiting to see a video or something, but all we’ve got is the track available on one site – go here to Just Jared to listen to the single “Out of the Woods.” This is how dumb I am: I glanced at the song title and thought (all day yesterday) that Swifty had done some music for Into the Woods, that fairy tale movie coming out this Christmas. I kept thinking to myself, “Why are people so crazy jazzed about a soundtrack song by Swifty?” And now that I know the single is off of her new album, 1989, I still don’t understand why everyone was talking about it.

As for the sound… it’s a straight-up pop song, co-written by Jack Antonoff (Lena Dunham’s boyfriend, musician/singer with fun. And Bleachers). Most people think it’s about Harry Styles, which is sort of awkward because Swifty has been talking about how she’s really at peace these days and she’s just happy with her girls. Turns out, this new album is still about ex-boyfriends. Anyway, I do think it’s about Harry. We really only have to choose between Harry and Conor Kennedy and I’m getting more of Styles vibe. It’s that lyric about stopping too fast and getting stitches. Totally Harry.

That plaid coat needs to be in my closet!

  2. Gwen says:

To the Dutch Queen Bee may also be Queen Beatrix (well, former Queen Beatrix now). Just saying.

  3. Dani2 says:

That mag cover is pretty weird, I do like the song though, it’s way better than “Shake It Off” (although that’s not saying much for some people lol).

    • Hissyfit says:

I’m the opposite. I like “shake it off” better than this new “woods” song.

    • Mmhmm says:

I heart both songs. I think she’s doing a great job of keeping herself relevant with this pop album. Both songs are catchy to me, and when she returns to country, she’ll be making tons more money than ever. I’m not a crazed fan, but I have to give her credit.

  4. NewWester says:

Taylor reminds me of Scarlett Johannson on that magazine cover.

  5. Kiddo says:

This girl loves to beat to death a chorus. Yeesh. I don’t care for it, but that’s just me.

    • mimif says:

So you’re saying you get your lyrical inspiration from Swifty Mitchell?

      • Kiddo says:

OMG, I missed you SO MUCH. wait …If I make this a Swift Mitchell song, I haven’t killed the chorus enough:

OMG, I missed you SO MUCH
OMG, I missed you SO MUCH
OMG, I missed you SO MUCH

      • mimif says:

😃 I missed you too, Kidzilla! What did I miss, what did I miss? Is GoodNames still biting medical professionals. Is Kitten still Original? Does Jaderu still boil your potato? Has kri perfected her drunk Anaconda choreography party? Is Abbot still dropping the best one liners? Does QQ still give Michael K a run for his money? Is Esmom still fantasizing about Walter White’s tighty whities? Are you still misinformed? I must be debriefed immediately!

        *throws Kool-Aid at everyone*

      • Kiddo says:

I am still misinformed. The End.

Abbott made the Clooney thing happen yesterday, and must be punished severely.
Goodnames has been wearing beige booty shorts and rockin’ it.
Jaderu has not launched any potatoes since your absence= sad sack.
The drunk anaconda party was deficient in kool-aid.
Kitten is Kitten, somewhat extra-strength, or maybe a sample pack, now and then.
Esmom has married Walter White. You snooze, you lose.
QQ has run over Michael K several times, and then backed up, and did it again, for good measure.

      • mimif says:

        Excellent summation, thank you. HOWEVER…

*sobs into my limited edition BB tighty whities*

Esmom, there will be retribution. The End.

        *furiously pounds bongos*

      • mimif says:

        I need a minute to process….

Okay. I was so transfixed with the possible wiglet that I didn’t even have time to look at the face, then of course it was on to the orange & greasy tatted up moobs where I stopped for a full minute (or two), and I almost clicked back, but thank you baby Jesus, I scrolled down and found the next pair of leggings I’m going to send you for your birthday. And now I have to go look at the pic again, it’s that good.
*Um, what exactly is going on with his nether regions?

      • Kiddo says:

It’s all kinds of ingenious, isn’t it? A masterful work of art that has everything.

      • QQ says:

WHY ARE YOU BOTH SO RIDICULOUS?!??!? *runs romantic movie hazy light styles unto your embraces*

      • mimif says:

*draws fuschia lipstick all over Mickey Rourke’s nether region for La QQ*

I can’t hate Swift for sticking to the same formula that’s been netting her millions (if not billions). And clearly it doesn’t stop the guys from coming around.

Hell, they’re probably all narcasstic in their own right & enjoy that a song was written about them.

  7. Anna8 says:

So Taylor is all about cats, and letting everyone know about her ex boyfriends. Good to know! But in all seriousness, who will date her down road? And will they make her sign a confidential agreement?

  8. Mzizkrizten says:

I don’t get why people have such a problem with her songwriting. I personally appreciate a ‘real’ song, one written by the singer from the heart based on real life experiences and emotions. I prefer that kind of song over one picked at random from a song book, written by someone the singer probably doesn’t even know, written and rewritten by several people. Swift’s songs are authentic. They come from a real place. And I understand how writing these songs is cathartic for her, I too gain healing and closure from putting words on paper. And she gets the added benefit of the people who affected her actually hearing her words. Maybe it affects them, maybe it doesn’t but she does it for her own healing and satisfaction and I say good for her.

    • Bonfire Beach says:

ITA. I kind of like her, which I know is unpopular but I’ve never been one to follow the herd.

    • OTHER RENEE says:

I agree. Aren’t writers encouraged to write about what they know? So why all the shade?

  9. Jess says:

According to Rolling Stone, there are only 3 or 4 songs about an ex-boyfriend … which doesn’t mean the whole album is about relationships.
Also, the fact that she is happy with her girlfriends now doesn’t mean she can’t write about her last public relationship…

  10. Louise177 says:

I don’t like the new song. What I find funny about Taylor is that she gets so heart broken over two month relationships. Relationships where half of the time they aren’t even together because of touring or filming.

  11. maybeiamcrazy says:

With all the tell all she is doing, she should be ‘out of the woods’.

  12. Claudia says:

Haha, no, the Germans don’t know about the Queen Bee Beyonce, don’t think I’ve ever seen her referred as that around here. Sorry, the Hive!

And the song is definitely about Harry, there are pictures of her from 2012 wearing a paperplane necklace that belongs to him. “your necklace around my neck” “two paperplanes flying” – solved!

  13. Lea says:

I actually really like the song! It has a 80’s vibe with catchy lyrics. I’ve read somewhere it is more of a promotional single not an “official” one with the video.

  14. Talie says:

Is the story true though? Are we really supposed to believe that she and her pop star bf were hospitalized and no one knew? Not even TMZ… mmmmhmmmm

    • Sarah says:

She talks about the snowmobile accident in her Rolling Stone article that came out a little while ago. She actually tells the story as a sort of, “things happen to me that people don’t know about, ” kinda way. If you google it, you can find it and pictures if Garry from that month and year with visible injuries.

  15. Q says:

It feels like they dated five years ago for two minutes tbh. How is she STILL writing songs about him?! Wow.

    • Easi says:

They’re still using each other. He has an album coming out and usually has a “girlfriend” around that time. This is a reminder that he’s totally hetero and she can get some buzz as well.

      • Megan says:

I completely agree with this assessment. It’s mutually beneficial. They do have good PR teams

  16. skeptical says:

The difference between heartbreak songs and revenge songs is how easy it is to guess who she’s talking about. Taylor swift seems to only date to get album material. That’s not being authentic. That’s playing the publicity game.

  17. Allie says:

The thing that annoys me is she said this is not a single just a song that best represents her new album. So she just happened to release the song about Harry Styles, knowing that would garner the most PR attention. They were in a 2 month relationship, back when he was 18. Aren’t you a little embarrassed, Taylor?

  18. DrFunkenstein says:

    Has. Serious. Issues.

  19. Lila says:

This doesn’t sound like a breakup song to me. It seems more about relationship drama. Which seems fitting since everything about her relationship with Styles seemed like a melodramatic clusterf%#k.

I like the song but then I like a lot of her music. She is still great at capturing a moment lyrically. I even like the chorus.

  20. kcarp says:

Omg if she ever uses the lyrics but you talked like Harry Potter then we can assume for sure it’s about Harry Styles

  21. Eileen says:

I swear that cover photo looks like a woman awaiting the wafer from the priest during holy communion-I don’t know what exact theme the photo editor was aiming for? This song just reeks of emotional immaturity and arrested development in my opinion
