Britney Spears impresses audience; K-Fed hits the casino

Last night was the opening night of Britney Spears’ “Circus” tour, and early buzz on the performance is positive. Of course, Spears didn’t sing live, which is nothing new. But audience goers reported that Britney’s dance moves and stage presence is back. Meanwhile, Brit’s ex-husband Kevin Federline was spotted hanging out in a New Orleans casino while the show was going on. Hey, isn’t he getting five grand a week to look after their two kids?

Sure, she lip-synched it, but that’s nothing new — and judging from the opening night of her Circus tour, it’s safe to say, Britney’s back with a vengeance.

It’s actually pretty breathtaking … in a positive way. Think back one year, when her career was not only written off as over, but she was almost given up for dead. We’re told she felt “at home” on stage in New Orleans last night and was beyond happy to be there.

The only thing going crazy now … is the crowd.

So you would think for $5 grand a week, Britney would get a bang for her babysitting buck. But babyslacker Kevin Federline was no where in sight yesterday as Britney’s security guards and nanny took Sean Preston and Jayden James for a stroll in the New Orleans.

Britney Spears agreed to pay Kevin Federline $5,000 a week while she’s on tour. So how does K-Fed spend his first night in New Orleans with the kiddies? He doesn’t spend it with the kiddies. Kevin spent the night at Harrahs Casino — possibly doubling down on the $5k. Wouldn’t be a shock. After all, he has dice tattooed on his wrist.

Congrats to Brit for pulling this off. She’s got a lot of people rooting for her right now – hopefully she will be able to manage the pressure and schedule of this tour. I think it’s interesting that the more Britney seems to be pulling herself together, the more shady K-Fed looks. I mean, really – a casino, Kevin? It’s the biggest night of Brit’s career, he’s supposed to be watching their children, and he’s out gambling. Is that how America’s most famous single dad chooses to spend his $5k a week – in this economy? I guess he has nothing to worry about, as long as he’s on the Spears Gravy Train.

I wish she would sing at least “Everytime” live, thats a nice slow song, dancing wouldn’t get in the way of breathing…

I wanted to go see the show at Mohegan but damn, 100 bucks for cheap seats, can’t do it. A year ago I paid 70 to see the Spice Girls…but that was back when I wasn’t the sole provider in my household.

  2. EML says:

While I understand that the public deal was that Kevin got $5k for watching the kids while she was on tour, the truth of the matter is, Kevin struck a deal with a mother desperate to see her children. He is not getting the money to watch the children; he’s forcing their mother to pay him in order for her to have contact with them while she bankrolls his lifestyle. Its no surprise to me that while she’s out making money to support him (and everyone else around her), he’s in a casino while nannies and body guards that SHE pays for watch her children. If he really cared about his children seeing their mother, he would have agreed to go along on the tour without being paid for it. It’s not like he does anything with his daily life anyhow.

  3. Rreedy says:

She has a beautiful voice! Why the lipsyncing?
Her ex, fat ass Kevin, is a loser.

  4. for_realz says:

    MSAT,

Is this post supposed to be about BS? Because it seems that all you do is talk trash about KFed.

Maybe you should make another post about that and stick to the main theme of this one?

Two posts in two days where you talk trash about him is a bit annoying. We most certainly know how you feel about him, that’s for sure.

  5. SeVen says:

Its nice to see her back.

  6. Leandra says:

I don’t like how K-Fed uses the children as a bargaining chip. It’s bad enough Britney has to support him for the next 20 years and who knows after that.

  7. Sauronsarmy says:

LOL Why does she even bother wearing a microphone? What a mess.

  8. HEB says:

You’re right EML, he has full custody so she’s basically paying him off to get shared custody.

I feel like its his lawyers that are really screwing her though, he seemed to be fine with the arrangement they lawyers insisted on being included.

  9. Wonder Woman says:

I am happy for her, she is a great performer.

Kevin is a dick, I hate parasites like him

  10. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

Hey if it’s entertaining, then that’s what people pay for, right? So good for her, in that sense.

It looks like she had about a bazillion costume changes. She looks healthy, though, and good for her for that, too.

I have no opinion on KFed. These are two adults who have gotten themselves in the situation they’re in and are probably finding out raising a family is way harder than they both thought, especially trying to raise them while divorced and negotiating everything through lawyers. It’s tough. I hope everyone involved is keeping the kids FIRST in mind, though.

  11. mel says:

I heard her concert is very ronchy but a very productive show is how our local radio put it. I’m happy for her and I hope her tour does well. I’m sure K-Fed is loving it too…all the way to the bank.

  12. dido says:

Man oh man. So K-fed is supposed to be with his children 24-7? That’s not really fair. You cannot judge a parent on the times you see them away from their kids. Those children spend time with nannies and bodyguards when they are on Britney time too. If K-Fed was truly the ass that everyone makes him out to be, he would be selling those kids out to every magazine under the sun, not the one People magazine he did in which he was VERY supportive of Britney.

Also, according to Perez who was backstage at the show, K-Fed was there, not in a casino.

  13. HEB says:

you’re right Dido, he was there, I believe he went to the casino the night before during the dress rehearsal, the kids were at their performance, I bet that qualified as “mommy time”, so Kevin went somewhere else

  14. Brown Sugar says:

It is so funny when people like y’all call Kevin a loser or whatever, but Brittney knew what he was. She knew that he left his pregnant girlfriend to be with her. She knew all that and did not care. She made the choice to stay with him and then marry him and have 2 of his babies. So y’all can call him whatever you want but she layed down with him what does that say about her Character. Also there are tons of females who do this to men everyday, and if you choose a partner and you know very well that they are “losers” and you still stay, then you have know one to blame but yourself when they take your money.

  15. teehee says:

Wow she looks awesome in the 8th pic… a perfect balance between curves and musle – not too much, not too little fo anything. 🙂 “Female”!

  16. Annie says:

Clearly she picked a winner with KFed.

  17. The Old KC says:

I said it before, and I’ll say it again, since the pictures from her “performance” prove it: she is nothing more than the highest paid exotic dancer in American history. I have nothing against exotic dancers, either – it just cracks me up that she is considered a “musical artist”.

  18. boomchakaboom says:

If Britney loves the guy, and it’s apparent to me that she does, then her opinion is all that matters. She’s not the first sweetie to marry a questionable character, for sure. At least she kept her sh*t together while she was with him. Actually, I’m beginning to hope they get back together for the sake of both kids and themselves.

Those pictures of her performing are great. She must give one hell of a show. You go, Britney!

  19. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

The Old KC, I have to agree with you there. I never thought she was very talented, just very heavily marketed and packaged in a certain way. And that was at her height.

But like I said, hey, if people want to pay to go see her lip-synch and writhe around and they enjoy it, well whatever floats your boat, man. She was never going to be considered one of her generation’s greatest musical artists or anything, maybe this IS good for her. Probably is. Whatevs, is what I say.

  20. kc454 says:

HOW LAME!!! I would never pay $100 bucks to see her lipsync. Britney is a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. Any one of us could put on THAT show, where is the talent? The entire cheerleading squad that my daughter is on can lipsync and pretend to be Britney, Beyonce, Gaga, etc. and dance and all that other stuff too. Where are the REAL ARTISTS in today’s music???

I don’t feel sorry for Britney when it comes to K-Fed because she’s getting what she asked for. Everyone seems to forget that she took him from a pregnant woman that already had a baby. Would any of YOU do that? In my opinion, that makes her just as disgusting as he is and when he takes advantage of her, I laugh because a smart woman would have told him “No way dude, take care of the family you already have!!”

  21. hmm says:

People seem to conveniently ignore the circumstances of how they got together, the fact tha she went batsh*t crazy and couldn’t take care of her children. Do you know how far gone you have to be to lose custody of your kids? And K-Fed gets the blame? Puhleeze! If she cared about her kids she would have told her family that she wanted to take time off and get her life together and work on getting custody of her children. She did not. She chose to give all responsibility for her life and career to her father and manager. KFed is the same guy she married and it is somewhat unfair to blame him for the condition of her life. She was a train wreck before him and she continues to be a heavily medicated mess. When exactly does she take responsibility for her lives and the lives of her children?

  22. Codzilla says:

    Hmmmm: I agree in full.

  23. paranel says:

With all the acrobatic , unbelievable acts she does non-stop on the stage, how could she sing live at the same time? After all she is not a robot. Madonna was sitting on a high throne like chair almost her entire concert. I was there.

  24. Ppeater says:

I was at the show and it was AMAZING Of course she did not sing live but that was b/c of the dancing and running around. The choreography and production was great. She looked fantastic and she is fabulous live people need to stop it with the anti lipsyncing stuff is she sang live she would have to stand still the entire time.

  25. Enn says:

One of the reasons that I stopped hanging around this site is that it seems like the commenters just try to out-nasty each other. Seriously, there’s difference between having an opinion and being downright rude and cruel. It’s like y’all have nothing better to do than trash Britney, JA, Jessica Simpson, AJ, and now some people have the guts to slam Rihanna. Yeah, it’s a gossip site, but the level overall is just on the part of the commenters anymore.

    Pushing my soapbox aside now.

By the way, if you don’t think the post is “on topic,” here’s an idea – start your own site and write your own posts.

  26. for_realz says:

    @ Enn

If you stopped hanging around this site, I’m curious as to why you are back?

And why did you feel the need to bring it from atop your soap box?

  27. Enn says:

    @ for_realz:

Excellent question. I came back because I enjoy the way that CB, Kaiser, and MSat write and I’ve found that they give a much more open and fair approach to the gossip game than a lot of other sites that just want to tear down celebrities. I’m also really happy for CB that this site has taken off so much in the couple of years that I’ve been a reader because it’s a great place. I left for a bit because the commenters seemed to be stepping in to fill in that nastiness void, and I came back hoping that maybe that had changed. It hasn’t.

It’s a shame that people who want the gossip without the cattiness can’t really find that here anymore. It’s my right and my prerogative, as a long-time reader, to speak up about that. I’m not bashing the writers because they still have quality style and material. I just wish that the same could be said about some of the commenters, that’s all. Just my opinion.

  28. Jenny says:

Isn’t it $5,000 EXTRA on top of what he normally gets?

  29. for_realz says:

    @ Enn,

Thank you for your reply! I appreciate your time. I understand what you are saying about this site. I have been lurking for months and agree to what you are saying. I have seen some downright mean things being directed at posters and celebs alike.

I have noticed many of the “regulars” have stopped posting. Thanks for taking the time to share how CB used to be.

  30. Amphitrite says:

I don’t really have an opinion on K-Fed. It depends on the circumstances; I certainly don’t know everything that goes on in his and Britney’s personal lives, so I don’t think I can fairly pass judgement on either of them.

I do, however, love Britney’s music. I’m not saying I always agree with her choices as a person in her life, but that doesn’t mean I have to hate her music.

I am, and probably always will be, one of those creepy choir kids that only listens to people based on actual good vocal technique (which means that, often, I don’t like music for the music, just for the vocals). Britney, while she does have an excellent voice and is better than most when it comes to making clean cut music, goes beyond that and makes music that I enjoy simply for the music.

She’s one of the few artists I listen to for more than vocals- many of her songs, particularly her more recent works, have excellent beats and instrumentation and just isn’t found elsewhere.

Every song is something new and different, not only from her other songs, but from all the other pop songs out there. There’s a sense of variety in her work, something that even people who don’t like her music can probably appreciate.

You just never know what you’re going to get with Britney, which is probably why she’s one of the most successful artists of her time.
