Kendall Jenner is the new face of Estee Lauder: good pick?

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner’s mainstream modelling career just took a sharp right turn for the legit. She’s been announced as the face of Estee Lauder. I’m not too surprised. Kendall’s walked runways for Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Pucci, and Bottega Veneta over the past few seasons. Now she’s scored her first major modelling contract. I know the knee jerk reaction is to wonder how a Kardashian could represent a major brand. This decision makes sense though. Time magazine called Kendall “influential. It hurts to think of anyone in the Kardashian Klan that way, but it’s true. Kendall has a large social media presence, which will only help the Estee Lauder brand by appealing to the selfie generation.

Kendall excitedly Instagrammed the news on Saturday morning: “I am super excited to announce that I am the new face of @esteelauder!! check out http://www.esteelauder.com/kendall to see more…I still can’t believe it myself!” Here are the details from People:

Kendall has known about her new gig for a few months, but had to wait to reveal it to the rest of the world, which only built up the excitement.

“It honestly feels like a dream to represent such an iconic beauty brand — it is an incredible honor and quite humbling,” she says in a press release. “I found out when I was backstage at Paris fashion week, and all this time I’ve had to keep the news top secret. I am so excited to share it now and be part of Estée Lauder.”

Adds Estee Lauder Global Brand President Jane Hertzmark Hudis, “She is the ultimate instagirl, and we are excited to leverage her image, voice, energy and extraordinary social media power to introduce Estee Lauder to millions of young women around the world.”

[From People]

What do you think of Kendall’s new gig? She’s beautiful enough for the job, and she will appeal to a younger audience than Estee Lauder usually courts.

Estee Lauder also released this video where Kendall talks about how she grew up trying on their makeup, and she’s pumped to represent the brand. I’m also including some newish photos of Kendall in NYC.

Honestly, it’s probably a good call for the brand. She does have a young fan base.

    • FLORC says:

      Right.
People might not like her family (or her) for their public image, but her face is gorgeous. And she does have a young fanbase.

So many cosmetic companies pick actresses or a public persona to front their campaigns. And it works.

      • Charlie says:

I must be in the minority, but I don’t see anything stunning about her face. Kim, Kourtney and even Kylie are much prettier.

      • Someonestolemyname1 says:

        Yup, she is beautiful.

She is a beautiful young lady. More power to her, if she can book a huge cosmetics campaign. Good for her.

      • Bella bella says:

I’m not someone who has followed that family, so I’m wondering… How much of that is her real face? Has she had a lot of work done?

    • Erinn says:

Exactly. Love or hate her, she has a decent face for makeup, has the fan base already, and she’s been modeling a bit now, and clearly impressing a few people. I’m no Kardashian promoter, but at least this girl appears to work. And it’s kind of nice that she’s repping a brand she’s actually interested in. There are so many people who promote something and don’t actually like/use the products

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

      +1

      • Sabrine says:

She’s a likable young lady, seems very nice. I also think she will be a gorgeous representative for Estee Lauder.

    • Jh says:

Yep. Usually when I think of Estée Lauder (even though they own practically ALL other make-up/hair lines) is Red Door. Thanks, Grandma!

    • Size Does Matter says:

Definitely a smart move for Estée Lauder, which I have always kind of thought as being for older ladies.

      • Someonestolemyname1 says:

        Exactly, she’s a good choice.
        Very beautiful.
…….remember Elizabeth Hurley was chosen in the 90’s, she did a great job representing the brand, her photos were stunning, …(she was basically Hugh Grants actress girlfriend at that point, I think? )

      • Size Does Matter says:

@someone – I have always thought Elizabeth Hurley is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. Stunning. And I doubt Kendall will alienate the existing clientele. Smart move.

      • Montréalaise says:

When I was attending college in the 70s, it was a very popular brand among coeds (myself included). It may have been marketed towards a slightly older group but college girls loved the sophisticated image of the brand.

      • Mintessence (the original Minty) says:

I always thought Elizabeth Hurley was overrated. Pretty woman, yes, but not a great speaker/spokesmodel. She talks haltingly, like she has a plum stuck in her throat. Come to think of it, Hugh Grant speaks in a similar manner. That’s something they have in common.

Yes, most modeling doesn’t require any talking. Hurley was a much better model for Estée Lauder than this bland Jenner girl. However, nobody seems to remember the best EL model of all time, who easily blows the others out of the water: PAULINA PORIZKOVA!
        http://www.marieclairvoyant.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Paulina-Porizkova-1.jpg
        http://www.bellazon.com/main/uploads/monthly_07_2008/post-22099-1215965486.jpg

Paulina was breathtaking and in the prime of her youth, so this isn’t the first time EL has marketed to a younger demographic.

      • Sassy says:

Who likes Youth Dew? It is still around and smells great!

    • Artimis says:

Totally agree. She’s beautiful – she reminds me of that ultra-skinny model who was on The City – Ali something? Although KJ not nearly as skinny.

      • Teri says:

Yes, Ali McGraw. I think Kendall is perfect for this and I don’t think she’s much like her sister.

    • Fan says:

Kendal is a class above her her momager and cheap sisters. Kendal as a model compared to the pics of Kim where she is naked with the butt makes Kim look even trashier than ever. Kendal is so much more like Brody and Brandon than the KrapTrashian women.

  2. lower-case deb says:

she has the “Waiting for the AA” pose down! still needs more work on the “I Lost My Helmet, Help!” pose tho.

  3. QQ says:

Strange pick cause I used to work for them and they were going for rich old and bland…i mean Gwynneth and her Mom are the customer here so..IDK?

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yes, I agree, though I think they might use words like “elegant” rather than the ones you chose. Lol. I’ve always thought of Estée Lauder as an older woman’s brand. My mom uses it.

      • QQ says:

Lol Your “elegant” my “bland” also. Also Tons of pinks and dusty rose lippies shades and not enough brown foundations and Chintzy spicy ass “signature” perfumes.. it is definitely for the Old Lady In You

      • mimif says:

I started using Estée Lauder when I was in my 20’s (won a $500 gift basket as a door prize at Macy’s), and I’m so f-cking elegant, I just spilled* my mimosa all over my art nouveau nightstand.

        *not kidding

ETA: Chintzy spicy ass is my new favorite I cannot sanction this buffoonery.

      • CandyKay says:

I agree with QQ. Estee Lauder sells a muted palette for an older, established customer, and in my experience usually a Caucasian or Asian customer. (When I go shopping with friends who have darker skin colors, they walk right by Estee to Laura Mercier or MAC.) If they’re hiring Kendall, it should be part of a complete repositioning of the brand, because she does not fit with their existing user base at all.

      • QQ says:

        Those sets are bomb mimif!!!

Tell me love, you into mothballs too?? (maybe tho you have old lady pheromones.. I have a gf like that we automatically give her all those scenys cause it smells GREAT on her…im the captain of Sugary, gourmand, sweet fruity florals)

      • AG-UK says:

Hey I am older and someone at work has given me a gift set at xmas 2 years running I CANNOT with the perfume (makes my clothes smell for days ) … far too strong and does remind me of a grandma.. The make up doesn’t work for me I have used BB for a million years and can’t use anything else

      • Chris2 says:

        QQ, GNAT
I agree, the brand doesn’t speak to me at all. (in spite of my great age!) And I don’t dig their famous skincare either.
This Kendal chick doesn’t impress me as a muse of any kind, but she wins just by not being ruddy Elizabeth Hurley, for me!

    • Godwina says:

      They’re clearly attempting a rebrand.

      • Jag says:

Agreed! This says it all: “Adds Estee Lauder Global Brand President Jane Hertzmark Hudis, “She is the ultimate instagirl, and we are excited to leverage her image, voice, energy and extraordinary social media power to introduce Estee Lauder to millions of young women around the world.””

    • Ag says:

yeah, i def think of an older woman’s brand when i think of EL. (i have a friend who uses them exclusively, has since college, and she’s also had the older lady vibe since college.) perhaps they are seeking new clientele, having lost some of their market to time and age?

    • moo says:

they’re trying to also appeal to the younger group. they’ve probably already added new colors and perfume for the younger crowd, ready for their newly chosen model to appear in the print ads and commercials.

    • LahdidahBaby says:

I’m with you on that, QQ. Estee Lauder has always seemed to me like a brand made for the ladies who play bridge on Thursdays and discuss the latest moisture-replenishing products for the body part they refer to as “Down THERE.”

Me, I’m no young thing but I use almost solely Bobbi Brown and Mac (love the natural-looking colors), with a couple of Urban Decay items thrown in. BUT…Estée Lauder has a newer product that I really really REALLY like…no, depend on: the Doublewear Stay-in-Place eye pencil, which you can wear to a 3-tissue movie or even to a wedding or a funeral (I seem to cry more at weddings than at funerals because I know where love usually leads and wish I didn’t) – and through all the tears your eyes will not end up bare (as long as you dab at them, if you must, rather than wiping them). I take this to mean that the brand is trending younger, and the fact that Kendall is their new face pretty much convinces me that’s true.

  4. SpookySpooks says:

She’s not a good model. But a famous name can get you very far.
How many times did she say like in that video?

    • Charlie says:

I can’t see the video right now, but she’s a Kardashian after all, you don’t expect them to be eloquent?

    • MCraw says:

She didn’t say “like” at all. Don’t make up stuff to make this girl out to be an idiot, when she’s clearly the only one out of that whole family who isn’t.

      • SpookySpooks says:

I was asking if she said like in this video, because in every interview I’ve seen of her she says it every 3 seconds.
And she’s exactly like the rest of the Klan. Being prettier than them doesn’t make her better or smarter than them.

      • Mary Mary says:

Spooky: Kendall born with the Jenner surname, is trying to put some distance from herself and the Kardashian side.

Kendall asked Kim, momager and the rest of the K family to not attend any of her fashion shows and so far the family has respected that request.

Kendall is both tall enough and pretty enough to model. No one is saying better or smarter, just perhaps trying to act more classy and distance herself from the Kimye publicity circus.

Estee in my opinion has a “mom’s makeup” image and perhaps this is a way to attract the younger set.

Good for Kendall and hope she continues to blaze her own career separate and away from the family circus.

  5. thinkaboutit says:

Interesting but I don’t think they’re going to capture the selfie generation unless they change their whole image and branding. Even I think EL is too staid and I’m twice her age.

    • Msmlnp says:

Completely agree. I closer to 40 than 30, and I love brand name makeup with not one item Estée Lauder. And I’m not inclined to buy it now with a Kardashian schilling it.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

I can see why they picked her, courting a younger audience and she’s pretty and inoffensive but I agree it seems not to fit the brand I know. Still, I think it’s win-win for both parties, she gets credibility and they get attention from the under 25’s.

  6. NewWester says:

I wonder if Kim is jealous of her little sister?

  7. puffinlunde says:

This is a risky strategy for the company – I can see that she might bring in her younger fans but there is also a risk that Estee Lauder’s traditional customer-base will jump ship rather than buy a “Kardashian” product

    • CandyKay says:

I also wonder if Kendall’s fan base can afford Estée Lauder products. They’re not cheap. I think she’d be a better match for a brand like Rimmel London – inexpensive, fun, colorful cosmetics for girls who like to experiment and are still trying out a lot of different ‘looks.’

    • Jennifer says:

I don’t think the majority of their customers would know what a kardashian is.

    • Mrs. Wellen Melon says:

Kendall is pretty. She doesn’t sell to me, someone who fits a traditional EL customer profile. EL has lost whatever small business I may have given them.

I’m 57, a wearer of rose lipsticks, muted matte eye shadows, and light foundation. I saw EL as a mid-market that could occasionally tempt me. With a Kardashian as their face, I now perceive EL as overpriced downmarket. If I want young and fun and mid-priced, I’ll buy something like BeneFit.

      • lkaye says:

I agree. She is a pretty girl, but no matter what if you add a Kardashian to something it cheapens it, pure and simple. Plus most of their fan base cannot afford this brand anyway.

      • Wren33 says:

Really? Wouldn’t you continue to buy their make-up if you like it?

      • Bob Loblaw says:

I will not continue to buy a product if I dont like how they conduct business. I refuse to have any of my money go to any Kardashian products or promoting them. I rationalize clicking on their stories here as employment for the writers and a guilty pleasure. Otherwise, I go out of my way to not click and not buy all things K related. I stopped watching E! completely and it was a good decision, I just don’t care for these talentless faux celebrities, and I don’t want to promote their careers.

  8. Vera says:

She’s young, lovely and famous, why not?

    • Someonestolemyname1 says:

I agree and she does meet the requirements of a model , height, body, face.
      She’s a stunning young lady.

  9. captain hero says:

Yeah I’m sure the products will fly off the shelves … Straight into the pockets and up the jumper sleeves of kendall’s 13 year old fans.

  10. Shijel says:

I guess they’re trying to appeal to younger consumers now. I still have a hard time seeing where the “model” is in Kendall. Unmemorable face, tall and thin body, stiff and lifeless poses.

    • RN says:

I agree. She doesn’t have “it”, that thing that makes her memorable and sets her apart. Plus, she’s so downmarket for this particular brand. My age puts me in their customer bracket (although I don’t use their products); my dislike for all things related to this family means that I would now choose to spend my dollars elsewhere.

    • BooBooLaRue says:

      Preach!

    • claire says:

She doesn’t have a high-fashion face at all. The name must get her a lot of jobs.
I wish her success though because she does seem to have a work ethic and it’d be great to see Kim put to pasture by her younger sister’s rising fame. If I had to choose between the two, I’d definitely choose Kendall.

  11. Loopy says:

Well it seems that only Kim and Kendall can get the big gigs by themselves. Otherwise its usually the 3 older sisters or the two younger ones peddling something together.

    • Dawn says:

I wasn’t aware that Kim has gotten any kind of endorsement or national campaign. Who hired her for what? I think Kendall is too young and I don’t think the little girls that follow her on twitter will be able to afford EL. I know others have been saying she has 15 million followers on Twitter but we all know how PMK works and I doubt that is real a real number. I think EL picked the wrong younger girl for this campaign because she isn’t interesting when she is photographed. She has the same dead eyes that Kim has and she has one or two poses at most.

      • Loopy says:

Kim has had solo deals with fast food chains, sketchers, video game apps, liquor brands etc but you never see Kourtney and Khloe really getting any big solo gigs.

      • word says:

Kim did one ad for Carl’s Junior (they also hired Paris Hilton a few years earlier for the same thing). Kim did a few ads for Sketchers years ago. She has never done anything for any make-up line though.

You’d think Kendall would stay loyal to the “Kardashian brand” and be the “face of Kardashian make-up” or whatever it’s called…lol yeah right who are we kidding?

People always call Kendall and Kylie “Kardashians” but they aren’t…they are Jenners. I do think PMK has hustled hard to make Kendall a model and Kanye’s connections have really helped. Any other “new model” would still be trying to get on ANY runway…but Kendall (because of her famous family) jumped right to the head of the line.

  12. L&Mmommy says:

Pleasure by Estée Lauder, one of my favorite perfumes of all time. It reminds me of high school as it was the first perfume I bought when I started my 1st job. It was the one who started my love affair with perfumes.
As for Kendall in theory she’s a good pick if they’re trying to reach young people, like it or not the Jenner girls are VERY popular with the youth. It’s just that although beautiful, Kendall is bland and boring, she’s got no hmmph her sister Kylie however does have that spark.

  13. GiGi says:

Boy, she’s really giving me strong “young Janice Dickenson” vibes in these shots. It’s a good move for the brand – my Grams wore Estee Lauder…

  14. Talie says:

People need to realize that this girl is not Kim — her image, thus far, reads elegant. They want a younger fanbase and she can surely deliver.

    • Josephine says:

Not seeing the elegant although her street look is a tons better than Kim’s. She comes across as entitled and immature, but is doing better now that she doesn’t open her mouth much.

These women are nothing without the make-up, so make-up seems a good fit for them. I like the top pic, but otherwise, don’t feel her as elegant or beautiful. She’s cute. She’s not Estee Lauder.

    • Ennie says:

Let alone illiterate, she cannot even read!

      • don't kill me i'm french says:

        Like many teens sadly.
I’m nurse in France and since 5 years,i’m surprised by the number of trainees who have some problem to read or understand a text

      • Korra says:

        @don’tkill …in France though? Seriously?

    • Bob Loblaw says:

She does not read “elegant”, I can appreciate that she is young and attractive, we all were once, but she is coltish and looks very like her mother, who was also a model. If I think of American elegance, I think of Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn, never do I think Jenner or Kardashian, this ladies are not chic and never have been.

  15. serena says:

Well, I think she’s right for the job. Sure they chose her not only for her references but for her ‘fame’ (as much as it pains me to say it), but she really has a model-like figure, so why not? At least one of the Kardashians has a real job.

  16. whatsmyname? says:

I don’t mind this, they are trying for younger people and I think Kendall is a good pick for that. I think it’s cool that she found something to do that doesn’t revolve around what her family is doing, she is getting legit work. I feel bad for Kylie though.

  17. dagdag says:

Estee Lauder Signs Model of the Moment….

Is this not actually an insult? Or maybe just honest? I am not a native speaker.

  18. bella says:

    she is stunning.
because i’m a mom, what i first thought on this news was…
…i hope this extraordinary opportunity as the face of EL encourages kendall to step up and behave with decorum and class…
    i hope that she does.
i hope she continues to take those right turns and steers far away from the low class Kardashian image.

    • LK says:

She is stunning. God, i hope she will leave her face alone and not mess it up like her sisters, and mom.

  19. Mean Hannah says:

This is a brand that signed Liz Hurley when she was not known as anything other than Hugh Grant’s girlfriend who wore *that* Versace dress. Despite what a lot of people said, that worked out well for both of them so this could work well. I don’t get it, but…

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

And Liz Hurley worked for them since more 15 years ( i don’t work if they work again together) and she helped to know the brand in GB

      • Mean Hannah says:

I don’t think they have Liz on contract anymore, but they still seem to do a collaboration or two, so the association is still intact. A lot of people thought Liz was wrong for the brand then, saying some similar things people are saying here about Kendall. EL has gone through several rebranding trying to chase younger customers (I know, because my mom has been using their skincare and makeup for 30+ years), that usually coincide with their new model signings, but while it’s a successful brand, I don’t think they are very good at shaking off their old lady image. I use and like a couple of their products, but I never would have if not for my mom.

      • Chris2 says:

        Don’t Kill Me etc
Oh I don’t think that’s quite the case….Estée Lauder’s been very prominent here for decades.
(I admit to disliking Hurley’s general aesthetic….but I truly think she’d not appeal to any youthful punters, she’s always seemed to me awfully staid.)
        • For a company offering lifting creams (ha!) for over £200, I’d think they’d be better advised to hire someone older, like Carmen del Orifice (sp?)……they should be saying ALL beauty is desirable , not using a teenager or however old Kendall is: tis not about ageism and all that, just a total lazy-thinking mismatch, I reckon. If they want hip credentials….Jane Birkin? Rampling? (oops, nabbed by Nars)
        • Nope, and for another thing, the packaging’s very old-fashioned too, I wouldn’t have it in my kit!
Ok rant over……I hope KJ enjoys herself anyway, she must be thrilled to bits.

      • Someonestolemyname1 says:

Exactly people were saying similar about Liz Hurley, who was basically Hugh Grants beautiful, actress girlfriend, who made head turns in the Versace safety pin dress. She did a wonderful jobbfor Estee Lauder and is still an ambassador for them I think. She was just in Dallas doing something connected to Estee Lauder.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Liz Hurley had a long career in fashion prior to the safety pin dress and Hugh, for obvious reasons, she is a stunning beauty and extremely photogenic.

  20. BeckyR says:

She is an attractive girl, but nothing special. They are counting on her twitter followers, I guess. A ready made marketing tool.

  21. don't kill me i'm french says:

It’s a good way to rejuvenate Estee Lauder’s brand

    • gina says:

When I think of Estee Lauder, I think of my grandmother. Whew, her fragrances give me a headache a mile away. Maybe her line has changed, but I always thought of her products for woman 50 plus. I guess marketing is trying to appeal to the younger demographic like everyone else in this country.

  22. Christo says:

Ugh. Along with the Kim K cover for Vogue and this move by Estee Lauder, all of the classic brands and “keepers of the realm” have given way to social media trash.

  23. Greek Chic says:

From this http://gemsofgorgeousness.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Estee-Avanced-Night-Repair-campaign.jpg to Kendall Jenner? Totally downgrade.
Don’t get me wrong, i don’t find her ugly..but i don’t find her beautiful either. She is pretty but definitely not breathtaking and lacks charisma. If she wasn’t a Kardashian there’s no way she would be a successful model.
Daria Werbow, Natasha Poly, Magdalena Frackowiak, Emily Didonato, Bianca Balti and some others are high fashion beautiful, Kendall no way.

    • Observer says:

Why even have models if you’re going to photoshop them so much (@the link/pic)? I thought it was a drawing.
Why bother having models at all?

  24. gina says:

Nepotism runs in the family. I do find a certain delicate beauty in her. So tall and thin, she should thank her father for inheriting his genes. It annoys me that Daphne Oz is on the Chew strictly because of her daddy, but that’s the way it goes in show biz…..Michael Douglas, Melanie Griffin, her daughter, Jennifer Grey….the list goes on and on. Have to say though, I’m sure inside this is probably eating Kim K. up inside. With her short and stout body, the only thing she models or represents his her big fat ass!

    • Someonestolemyname1 says:

The family all seem pretty supportive of each other.

I’m sure the family realizes the two younger daughter’s can play the long game, aim for classier things in the modeling industry and they have much more potential.

  25. Courtney says:

I guess I’ll have to give PMK some credit. I don’t think any of her daughters will have to depend on a man for money.

  26. Hotpockets says:

I use to work for Estee when I was in my early 20’s and I think they have some fabulous products for all age demographics and all skin tones. I know they’re more known for being an old lady line, but Estee herself was a true entrepreneur and pioneer and now Lauder is a massive empire. Almost any cosmetic line you can name is owned by Lauder or L’Oreal.

I think Kendall was a great choice, because they do have a lot of products developed for younger skin types that go unnoticed. I still love my double wear foundation and advanced night repair serum.

    • RisiaSkye says:

+1 They’re enormous, and they have great skincare for all ages. And because few advertising-oriented shoppers seem to know about these products, they tend to run cheaper than the older-skin products.

Kendall’s also got a bland/neutral quality that smooths the transition from the flagship brand’s old lady image to their current effort to court the young. She’s young, but the dead eyes age her. And compared to her older, trashier try-hard (step)sisters, she seems fresh, upmarket and positively refined.

    • Ange says:

Yeah, despite their image their products really are great. I haven’t used them in years because I no longer have access to them on the cheap but I wish I did.

      • Hotpockets says:

Ya, I’ve been reading a lot of comments saying that this isn’t really a big deal, since EL is a dying brand, which is hilarious since they’re still a multi- billion dollar company. The EL counter I use to work for was the top performing counter in the department store, over a million dollars in revenue a year, it did more business than MAC, Chanel and Lancome and this was only two years ago. Yes, I hate most of their perfumes, but their skincare and makeup is huge and also hugely popular overseas in countries like China. To say they are no longer relevant in the makeup world is a massive understatement.

  27. OTHER RENEE says:

If nothing else, people will now check out their products and not be so quick to pass them by in the department store.

Wow , Who did Kanye West abuse and blackmail to get Jennerl this gig? Sorry but she isn’t that stunning, has zero talent and she is a spoiled brat. Lets not forget that she did not even pay a bill at a restaurant, and when the waitress tweeted it, Jenner sent a nasty letter from her lawyer basically calling the waitress poor and unsuccessful and that she doesn’t have the kind of money to fight it out in court. What a disgrace fro Estee Lauder to give this spoiled, nasty, untalented, average looking, rude little girl an endorsement. I will no longer be supporting them. Look at their facebook page and everyone is ripping them apart for this pick. Why couldn’t they have picked someone like Halie Stienfield or Chloe Grace Mortez? Those girls have talent, beauty and class.

I think she’s beautiful and she definately has what it takes to model.
Her mom and her handeler’s are smart, very smart. More power to her.

If Emily Rata-whateverthehell had a lower jaw, she would be Kendall Jenner. Someone please explain why the fashion world is allowing the Kardashians to become so prevalent. Mark my words, within a year one of them will be nominated for an Oscar.

  30. Penelope says:

She’s pretty but she’s famous because she’s a Kardashian, period. I see much more gorgeous girls strolling around on campus every day at the college where I work, no joke.

  31. Falkor says:

I’m not a fan, I’m not of the opinion that she is a beauty of the ages, but I think this was a smart move for Estee Lauder. They’ve been all mothballs, nana perfume and basic neutrals as far back as I can remember. Seems like this could be a nice and mutually beneficial endeavor. Buena suerte kids!

If Estee Lauder’s goal was to create an Internet/Social Media uproar by signing Kendall, they have accomplished that; every news outlet from Bloomberg, to trashy gossip and Kardashian-obsessed sites like DailyMail, to legitimate fashion magazines like Vogue and Glamour, has reported on this story.

If Estee Lauder’s goal was for the new generation to purchase products, they have also accomplished that. I, early-twenties millennial, got two nail lacquers and a holiday gift, granted I have been using Estee Lauder before I was old enough to even know what makeup or skin care was because a cousin of mine who used to work at the airport got cleansers from passengers who couldn’t travel with them.

I can’t fault Kendall for wanting to make a living, one doesn’t choose in which family they are born, rich or poor, famous or not, we have to learn to use our unique circumstances and make the best of it. It might be unfair to other models, I don’t know, but then the fashion industry has never been the fairest of them all. The best thing Kendall can do is to sign off KUWTK if she’s not legally obligated to stay on for more seasons and adopt a lower more exclusive profile.

I believe her handlers are playing the loonnng game with her and her sister, this is just the start for her. Those agents and handlers sit with their clients and (probably her mum Kris) and make 5, 8 ,even 10 year plans or projections for their clients, if they are young like she is.
I can see them doing this with her.

  33. Patty says:

She already has wrinkles around her eyes in that Instagram photo. Yikes. But I guess she is really going to happen, LOL.

  34. Someonestolemyname1 says:

    It’s a smart move. IMO
Cosmetics brands sometimes pick someone who will attract a new audience and grow as their buyers grow.

We may be looking at the long game with Kyle.
More classy jobs to come as she grows, she has good potential.

I don’t find Kendall interesting at all …she is so Bland…..no character, or anything in her face that would make her more memorable from any pretty 19 year old out there most 19 year olds are beautiful so she just doesn’t stand out….and frankly you can’t find Estee Lauder around here any longer even the High End Stores at the New Malls and outlets in this part of the state have pared down or closed down the Estee Lauder boutique and counter to just a corner of of one counter …and most people don’t shop daily in those stores because they can’t afford to …..and your box stores don’t carry it, where most teens shop….. maybe in the big cities but small towns and country ..No ….don’t think so…..Funny how Kris Jenner always attaches her brand to company’s who are desperate to gain some publicity and willing to get to bed with the devil…..Sorry Estee Lauder …and Bye Bye…your died….

  36. bettyrose says:

Guess dropping outta school worked out well for her.

  37. sean says:

So Este Lauder is aiming for that Family Dollar market now?

  38. G says:

Honestly she is naturally beautiful but EL is marketed for older women. IMO. So she has PAC SUN and…Estee Lauder?? It’s either odd or ingenuous I haven’t decided yet.

  39. Mika says:

This was a smart move for Estee Lauder. It does open up a whole new market for them.
Kendall can be classy; if she distances herself from her sisters,

  40. EM says:

She is way more attractive than many so called ‘models’ , but not particularly distinctive, flavour of the month for now but I think the Kardasian link will play against her in the long run.

  41. LAK says:

Aesthetically she fits the sort of beauty they sign to be their face. I still think Elizabeth Hurley is the most beautiful ‘face’ they’ve ever signed.

  42. Scarlet Pimpernel says:

Perhaps explains why Kim came out with her posterior shots to at least grab some of the lime light … couldn’t stand the prospect of being outshone by little sis who is more attractive and now becoming a genuine model.

  43. Claire says:

While being very pretty, I find her forgettable. I have a hard time really picturing her unless I see a picture. She should just be a Victoria Secret model – they are pretty dull these days.

  44. sienna says:

She is the proof that u don’t have to have a big butt or big breast it’s enough a beatiful face and she’s definitely the most beautiful out of the sisters.I don’t think kim is that beautiful.

  45. sienna says:

Klye is not beautiful and kim is short fat and desperate to grab attention.
