So many Angelina Jolie stories today. Probably because this is a big week for Unbroken – the first of the Oscar campaign screenings start this week, plus the embargo on reviews will finally be lifted. Angelina was actually at an LA screening last night (more on what happened at the screening in a moment). When Angelina was trying to get back home after the screening… her car crashed! It sounds like the driver’s fault.
Angelina Jolie was just involved in a near-devastating car crash in LA after the screening of her film Unbroken in Beverly Hills. The actress was returning home in a chauffeured black SUV when the car, slipping on the wet road, slid into the curb with extreme force, popping TWO tires, almost causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. It all happened around 6:45pm PT. In fact, Jolie is STILL in the car, waiting for another ride.
As the actress-director left the Writers’ Guild Theater, her driver took off fairly quickly, headed east and when the car hit the curb, it was bad, according to our eyewitness: “The car slammed into the curb at a significant speed. Angelina must have wondered if they hit another car. It was pretty bad — the tire exploded and it’s amazing nothing worse happened to the car. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has whiplash.”
UPDATE – Angelina was picked up, not by Brad, but by another driver from the same car service. She’s on her way home now …
This sort of proves to me that LA drivers have no idea how to drive in any kind of inclement weather. I live in the mid-Atlantic, where people know how to drive when it’s raining. That being said, drivers in the mid-Atlantic do freak out if they ever see snow or ice. Anyway, it sounds like Angelina is okay. Thank God!
As for last night’s screening, it went really well. Page Six says that all of the industry insiders love Unbroken and one “industry vet” says the film is “sensational and very patriotic…It’s a real Oscar contender.” At the screening, Angelina also told a funny story about Louis Zamperini and how she learned that they lived close to each other in LA – apparently, Louis’s wife Carol used to spy on Brad with binoculars!!! That’s amazing. Angelina also said that Brad knows that Louis was her #1 man and Brad accepts it.

Ex Chicagoan that lives in LA now. I used to think the same thing about LA drivers, traffic crawls when there is the slightest bit of rain. Turns out, since we get no weather out here when the pavement gets wet all of the oil turns the roads into the equivalent of black ice. FYI.
Exactly. I live in the NW where we do get a lot of rain but we all know that the first rain of the season is very slippery because all the oil washes out of the pavement and slickens the roads. I drive very differently during that first rain than I do the rest of the season. I get kind of annoyed when people mock those who don’t know how to drive in unusual weather for the climate they live in. Just because you are from x location where you get snow all the time doesn’t mean that people who live in climates with little to no snow are bad drivers for not knowing how to drive in snow.
Planes fall out of the sky in LA when it rains. 😆
Ex Wisconsin girl in an area not known for snow. When we do get it, everything shuts down and people stockpile like it’s the apocalypse. I thought they were crazy at first. But our state simply does not have the infrastructure or resources to properly handle a few solid snows. Few plows, hardly any salt or sand. So the roads are super bad. It’s not like in WI where a plow comes along every 15 minutes and people just suck it up. This is a state where your street might not get plowed for days. But people still mock. Not cool people!
Shout-out to my fellow Cheesehead! Congratulations, Moxy, on escaping the bitter winters.
Exactly. It isn’t the rain, it is the paste that is created from the rain that is the real danger.
Thank God she is okay
It was the same way in Las Vegas. I grew up in Northern California so I was experienced with driving in icy, snowy, rainy and foggy conditions. In Vegas people would freak out with the first sign of rain. Now that I’m in Kentucky I’m driving in inclement weather with people that know a thing or two. Oh, and way less drunk drivers. Anyway, I hope Angelina is okay. Car accidents are scary no matter the circumstances.
x17 made it worst than it was.. they claimed to have “video” of the incident which they didn’.t I saw pictures of the care and there was just damage to the tires. So yes something happened. I’m sure she was shaken and I could kind of see that she was, but she got in anther car and was driven home. She didn’t appear hurt. but again I’m sure she was shaken.
I’m glad she was fine and was able to wake from one car to the other.

now the superficial. I love that grey dress and I like the simple winter white dress/coat she wore for the first screening.
If I lived any where near Brad and could actually see him by looking binoculars I so would.. Bow head in shame, but I would spend hours watching.. I saw video of the Q & A.. Louis’ family was there and encouraged her to tell the story when she was hesitant at first. It was cute and funny.. the audience laughed.
Glad everyone’s ok and yes, talk about hyperbole — “Angelina Jolie was just involved in a near-devastating car crash.” I guess ANY crash could be considered “near devastating.” WTF? Tabs just looking for drama as usual.
Call me superficial then, too – her grey dress is amazing! 🙂
Glad Angelina & the driver are okay. My dad’s girlfriend has popped her tires hitting the curb too. So, I’m not sure it’s LA drivers or just bad drivers in general.
I’m glad the embargo has been lifted. I’m ready to read the reviews.
Louis’ late wife was named Cynthia not Carole. She died in 2001.
Glad Angie is OK
she looks incredibly beautiful in that first pic.
She does. She is breathtakingly beautiful. But I think she is even more beautiful inside.
Angelina photographs really well in natural sunlight. She looks quite young in this series of pictures.
Am glad she is ok. I’ve been one of the drivers in a car accident and 2 of my car’s wheels completely snapped off. Bra basically cut in half from the seatbelt (which saved me), terrible whiplash. It took me longer to get over it psychologically though.
What about are ‘they’ okay?
