Kirstie Alley claims to have lost 50 pounds & she’s down to a ‘size 6 or 8’

wenn22044840

Here are some photos of Kirstie Alley at the Season 4 premiere for Girls two nights ago. She was “showing off” her weight loss. Several years ago, back in 2011, I was obsessed with Kirstie’s weight lies. She appeared on Dancing With the Stars, and she had signed on to the show when she was very out of shape. She credited the dancing and strenuous workouts with a significant weight loss. And it was true, she lost a lot of weight back then and she looked a lot better. But she wouldn’t stop telling lies about how much weight she lost and how she was down to a size 8, then a size 6, then a size 4. At one point she claimed she had gotten down to 130 pounds when the photo evidence showed a woman who was clearly NOT 130 pounds. It was like she couldn’t just say “I lost a lot of weight and I’m much happier and healthier now.” She had to pile on the lies in lieu of piling on the maple syrup. And obviously, after some time passed, Kirstie put the weight back on.

Anyway, back in April 2014, Kirstie signed on to be a Jenny Craig spokesperson, hoping to once again take off the weight. There was a catch, of course – Jenny Craig had to endorse Kirstie’s bizarro Xenu juice, which is just some strange cranberry juice fortified by Xenu himself (itself?). And now she’s claiming to have lost 50 pounds.

When Kirstie Alley decided in April that she wanted to slim down, going back on Jenny Craig was a no-brainer.

“It was so easy for me when I did it before,” Alley – who lost a whopping 75 lbs. when she was a spokesperson for Jenny Craig from 2004 to 2007 – tells PEOPLE.

Although the Dancing with the Stars alum only intended to lose 30 lbs. this time around, she ended up dropping 50 lbs. and going from a size 12 to 14 to a size 6 to 8.

“There’s this certain place I hit where I felt really energetic and agile. I was like, I want to keep going with this!” she says.

To avoid her past yo-yo-dieting downfalls, Alley, 63, wanted to take a different approach. “I thought, how am I going to solve the problem of hitting a goal and having enough fun to keep that going?”

So she bought a new set of wheels – for exercise. “I got a yellow townie bike and I ride over to friends’ houses. I bribe people. I’ll say, let’s ride to this restaurant and I’ll pay for dinner,” she tells PEOPLE. “And believe me: If I bike four miles to a restaurant, I don’t wreck it with my order!”

At home, Alley fills up on organic fruits and vegetables and her Jenny Craig meals, enjoying favorites like chicken fettuccine for lunch and chocolate brownies for dessert. Along with portion control, she says having a consultant has really helped with her slim new figure.

“I started looking at myself as an athlete. I was a competitive swimmer for a very long time and I remember that I wouldn’t have won anything or done well in swimming if I didn’t have a coach.”

It’s part of her overall strategy to do what worked well for her in the past to ensure future success. “I want it to be part of my life this time,” she says. “I’m just trying to make it fun.”

[From People]

When Kirstie was announced back in April, she claimed she only wanted to lose 20 pounds or so. So, yeah. Eight months later and she’s lost 50 pounds and now she’s back to a “size 6 or 8.” Celebrities and their vanity sizing… sometimes I think they’re delusional enough to believe it. Like, Kim Kardashian really believed she was a size 4 at one point. And Kirstie really believes she’s a size 6. And I’m not saying that to be mean – she looks great and good for her for going back on the program, I guess. But enough with the BS.

  1. PunkyMomma says:

Love her green jacket. That’s all I got.

  2. DenG says:

She always seem to be sneering.

    • doofus says:

yup…I was just going to say that her face is in a constant state of “just smelled something bad”.

she’s so ugly on the inside that it creeps out.

    • kittery says:

She’s a scientologist. Sneering and lying is what they do.

  3. Renee says:

She looks like Fergie’s older sister.

    • Fan says:

I think she looks great for a 60 something woman. Can’t compare her to 30 year olds

      • Renee says:

Fergie is close to my age, and I’m 40. This was not a diss against Kirstie Alley, it was one towards Fergie. Fergie has had her face pulled tighter than a drum, before that she actually looked older that Kirstie.

  4. Loopy says:

She looks good, but also uncomfortable like she has a few layers of spanx on.

    • Esmom says:

I’ll grudgingly admit she does look good and yeah, I was thinking she looks like she was trying hard to suck everything in, but I’d imagine that industrial-strength Spanx would have the same effect.

  5. Biki says:

I am 170 cm and size 8 is to small for me, I woud need to starve for a year to get into size 6 or 8. How tall is she?

    • NewWester says:

Isn’t she like 5’7″ or so?

      • Petee says:

No I think she is taller.

      • Zwella Ingrid says:

Ok if she is 5′ 7″ or taller, she is not a size 6 or 8. size 6 is rail thin on 5’7″ , if she is taller than that, she would look even skinnier. She looks like a size 12 to me. I’m 5’7″ and that is my size right now. Assuming the camera has added on pounds, I will say a 10 at the very smallest.

    • mia girl says:

Maybe CO$ has their own sizing chart.

      • Sos101 says:

That’s what I came on to say – it’s not Kirstie’s fault. The CO$ has their own scale system and 180 earth pounds is about 120 CO$ pounds.

    • Dana says:

If she is 5’7 there s no way she’s a 6 or 8. My sister is 5’7 and looks very thin and she is a 6.

      • MarBear says:

yeah I’m calling B.S. I’m 5’7 and at my tiniest I was 120 ibs and a size 5/6. Granted I was wearing junior sized clothing I’m sure there is some difference in sizing but I still seriously doubt she is that small.

    • FLORC says:

There’s the sizing charts we all used growing up and then there’s the vanity sizing charts most stores use. I’m a 2 normally, but have found myself needing a size 00 and sometimes in petite. I’m 5’6″! Petite is something i’ve never thought I would wear!
In truth Vanity sizes are becoming a norm so if she says she’s a size 6 it’s true enough. Same as how i’m a size 00 when the store clerk asks me what size i am. It’s just a new measurement system. I don’t see how it’s a false statement.

  6. kibbles says:

Who really cares about her yo-yo dieting and fluctuating weight? She is 63-years-old. No one expects her to look the same as she did when she was 30 and no one would concentrate on her weight if it were not for her making such a big deal over it. This seems to be the only claim to fame she has left other than being a Scientology nut. I would hope that by now she’d have learned how to eat and exercise for her body type since she has all the money and time in the world to spend all day focusing solely on her weight while the 99% of us have more pressing matters such as having a real job and trying to survive.

    • Shambles says:

      You go, Kibbles.

    • Tippy says:

People obviously care very much about Kirstie’s ongoing weight issues and her wellbeing.

It’s been the driving force behind her continued relevance and has sustained her popularity.

Were it not for weight issues she probably would have fallen into obscurity decades ago.

    • Zwella Ingrid says:

I applaud her bid for health, and her exercising. I think she looks nice. Especially good for her age. I just don’t appreciate the lying. We can applaud her and respect her more if she tells the truth about her size, and her weight loss.

  7. Cleveland Girl says:

I think she really looks like a size 8. It depends on where you get your clothes. In some stores I am a size 4-6, and in others I am a 0-2!! Some places like to play on your vanity so they purposely make their clothes generous. It is a total scam, but it works!

    • Esmom says:

I think sizes have definitely changed overall, especially in the past 10 years. My weight has not fluctuated at all yet I just found myself myself buying pants two sizes smaller than I did 10 years ago. The retailers are definitely trying to flatter is into buying more. And I’d guess that a size 8 from the 1970s-80s is much tinier than size 8 today, the shift has been gradual over time, I think.

      • Dizzy says:

I wish they would stick to a standard size! It would make shopping easier. I weigh 18 pounds more now than I did 30 years ago but I magically can wear size 6 when I used to be size 8. So size 6 is size 10 from 1985.

    • sienna says:

The Gap, Banana Republic are the worst. I am a size 2 in their pants and a 6 in everyone else’s. It is just annoying, and I don’t believe for a second that I am a size 2.

      • Esmom says:

That’s funny, those new cords I just bought were from the Gap. Although my family just bought me PJ pants in a size S that fit me when I usually buy M or L and those were from J Crew. So they may be up to the same shenanigans.

      • Sister Carrie says:

Ann Taylor Loft is the worst for me! Even in the same store, my sizes on pants fluctuate depending on the style/cut of the pants. Size 00 (yeah, riiiight) to a 4 all fit (same day, same body) there but there’s no way in hell I am less than a 4 in other stores. I wish we could just go by measurements. Ordering on-line would be much less of a crap-shoot.

      • FLORC says:

Any store supplied by Chicos is terrible!
BR, Loft, WHBM, and JCrew started pulling out size XXSmall that really is a size small.

      • Bridget says:

Add Athleta to that list (another Gap Inc store). I have to buy their exercise pants in an XS and I’m normally a 6 at other stores.

Also, I had to buy a bridesmaid dress from J Crew, and their size 4 was actually BAGGY on me. It was absurd.

      • Luna says:

I was anorexic, 5’4″ and 88-90 lbs, back in 1990, and a Gap 0 fit me then. Skip forward 10 years to 2000, I wore their 0 at 110 lbs. So…during the 90’s is when the switch took, place, I think, though sizes seem to be even more “off” nowadays.

    • Mellie says:

I don’t think she looks like an 8, maybe a 10 on a good day. I’m 5 foot tall, weigh 120-125 pounds, depending on the day and because of my stocky type body I can wear a 4 or a 6, so there is no way this woman is a 6 or an 8, no freaking way. Here is what is funny about sizing changes. I ordered a leather skirt on ebay, it was from back in the day, probably 20 years ago…it’s a size 10, I can barely get it clasped in the back and when I do, I cannot breathe. I’ve had three kids, so my tummy is my problem area, but wow, how the sizing has changed over the years.

  8. MrsBPitt says:

Maybe Zeno sizes are different than “normal” sizes….She is a size 12 in the real world, but in Zeno world, thats cut in half! mmm….If true, I may have to become a Scientolo-nut, too! lol

  9. Kiddo says:

Meh, she looks great, like she lost a ton of weight. Sizes and fits vary so much depending on the brand, it’s ridiculous. I have noticed that these variations have now moved on to shoes, which is BIZARRE. There are no standards, it seems.

    • Luna says:

I work in the footwear industry, and shoe sizes are not supposed to be different…there’s an old foot measuring tool called a Brannock device, and sizes are still based on that. Nowadays we measure someone with a Brannock, AND do a 3D scan of their foot when they’re becoming an official fit tester.

That way we can take all, say, women’s size 8’s (based on Brannock) and look at what variations they have in, say, arch shape, forefoot or heel width, etc. Allows us to create better “lasts”, which are the foot-forms shoes are designed around, and build on at the factory.

That said…different companies use different lasts of course, and if you combine a last with more volume with stretchier materials…the resulting shoe will definitely be more roomy. Even though the actual length SHOULD be about the same.

There can also be variation between factories – suffice to say at least in athletic shoes, the major companies are still trying to fit people’s Brannock size.

  10. C-No says:

I don’t know, I lost 35 pounds and went from a size 10 to a size 2. It definitely depends on where you’re shopping and how tall you are.

    • snowflake says:

wow! and it depends on your body frame size too. i worked out and dieted hard and managed to get down to a size 8 and I was so happy. but i was really underweight, imo. and I’m 5 feet 6. I wish I could lose that many sizes by losing 35 pounds. good for you

      • C-No says:

Thanks! But after reading some of the above comments, I think it has A LOT to do with where I’m shopping – mostly Gap-affiliated and JCrew, because I can order tall sizes online (I’m 5’11”). I did go from a 10 to a 2 in Gap (pants) sizes, but I also have no ass or hips. Like, none at all. On reflection I think I went from a dress-size 8/10 to a 4/2, which isn’t as much of a spread.

Anyway I think Kristie might be exaggerating slightly – certainly SHE isn’t shopping at the Gap – but not by much.

  11. Belle Epoch says:

It’s a little weird to be a spokesperson for a diet program – twice. Most people put the weight back on (plus some more), which has led some to say dieting simply does not work. Jenny Craig is cleverly legitimizing yo-yo dieting (without saying so), which will keep dieters coming back forever.

    • Esmom says:

I was thinking the same thing, it’s kind of crazy. The last thing some people need is this kind of message. And given her history, I can’t help but think Kirstie’s weight loss is fleeting at best.

  12. Judyk says:

First, Kirstie is quoted as being “63”…she said she was 63 when she was on DWTS, and I heard her say it…she’s been 63 for YEARS. I’d like to have her secret for that trick.

I’m not a fan of hers, but I saw her on TODAY earlier this week, and she looked FANTASTIC…the first time I have ever BELIEVED her contrived weight loss figures. She’s not a 6 and on the TODAY show, they said she was down to a 10…she looks like an 8 to me. Whatever, she looks fabulous…she doesn’t need to lie about her age or her weight.

  13. Katie says:

I feel like the photo with Jonathan Knight is not getting enough attention. Please put him in the header image every time. Thanks I Advance.

  14. scout says:

Not!! She looks like she probably fit into size 14 with Spanks on. But good that she is trying to lose weight, health improves.

  15. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I don’t believe her, but I don’t care, either. I think it’s weird to lie about it, but she’s such an awful person, that’s the least of her delusions. Remember when she wrote in her book that Patrick Swayze loved her and not his wife, but they didn’t have an affair because he turned her down, but he really wanted to? Ugh.

I did Jenny Craig once, (I’ve been on most diets) and I did lose weight, but it doesn’t really teach you how to manage your food by yourself because everything – portions, ingredients, choices – is done for you. I felt that it was unhealthy to eat all of that processed food, so I quit, and the weight came right back. I had to learn to do it myself. Jenny Craig and similar diets are a short term solution.

    • MrsBPitt says:

That thing with Patrick Swayze was terrible…Kirstie is a nutjob! I’ve never liked her…

    • Esmom says:

Yeah, she’s totally gross, bordering on evil.

I’m not familiar with Jenny Craig but the part about being able to eat brownies was a red flag…it doesn’t seem to be promoting a nutritious diet as much as an empty-calorie diet. Not that you can never eat brownies if you’re trying to lose weight — life is too short to deprive yourself of chocolate! — but the overall message doesn’t seem to be conducive to the healthiest of lifestyles.

      • MrsBPitt says:

I think the Jenny Craig brownies are made from cardboard and chemicals…not good!

Aren’t Scientologist supposed to have some kind of mind control? Then why can’t Kirstie use her “special brain powers” to stop gaining weight?

I wouldn’t believe ANYTHING, that came out of her mouth!!!

    • Kiddo says:

I mostly don’t like her, but at the same time, I feel sorry for her. There’s a lot going on under the surface. That’s abundantly clear.

      On Jenny Craig:

They settled a lawsuit on gallstones in 1994
      http://articles.latimes.com/1994-07-16/business/fi-16311_1_jenny-craig-clients

A comedian filed one a year or so ago, http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20705916,00.html and Jenny Craig called the claims “irresponsible” and “extreme.” Even though they settled for the same claim in the class action suit of 1994.

Patricia Bannan, an independent dietician and the author of Eat Right When Time Is Tight, says that rapid weight loss can increase the risk of gallstones and women whose waistlines yo-yo are also at a higher risk of developing them.

“There is no sure way to prevent gallstones,” adds Bannan, “but eating a balanced diet, getting exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can reduce your risk.”

You were smart for quitting it, it looks like, GNAT.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yeah, it just didn’t feel right, eating all this stuff from a box. It was a dumb thing to do in the first place.

      • TinyTurtle says:

Any rapid weight loss causes gall stones.
Thats why when you get a gastric bypass they always take out your gall bladder as well.
Your going to have problems and it is too difficult to remove the gall bladder after you have your stomach readjusted.
I had a gastric bypass btw

  16. Lucy2 says:

    She looks good.
Beyond that, it speaks to the problem of something like Jenny Craig, where many people begin regaining the weight as soon as they go off of it.

    • Brittney B says:

Yeah, that’s the thing: there’s no substitute for exercising regularly and having self-control. All of these meal plans and diet fads depend on your dependence; they don’t give you a healthier mindset, because if they did, you wouldn’t need them! It’s sad that so many women believe the lies that Jenny Craig/Nutraslim/etc. celebrity spokesmodels spew, especially when the results are very different behind the scenes.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I agree, as I said above. I tried it because I was lazy. It worked while I was on it, but taught me nothing. I quit because it felt unhealthy, and I just ate normally. I gained all the weight back, and had to teach myself the right, and only way to maintain my weight – exercise a lot, eat mostly heathy, indulge occasionally, focus on feeling healthy and energized and accept the fact that I will never be described as “skinny.” Slim, maybe, but not skinny. And get on with life.

  17. Mrs. Darcy says:

At her height, were she an actual 6-8 she’d look a bit thinner. She looks healthy and like a solid 10/ maybe small 12 on bottom to me. It would be easier to tell were she wearing jeans, black pencil skirts hide a multitude of sins. I wish weight loss companies would realize that people have eyes and are more likely to buy what they’re selling if they’re honest. It’s taking nothing away from her weight loss to get real – remember when Oprah was BRAGGING about her size 10 Calvin Kleins in the 80’s, and it was indisputable she was thin? Our perceptions have become so warped, since when is a size 10 at 5’8″ fat? Why can’t she be proud of that? So I do think it’s important to call out sizing b.s. when we see it.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I agree. I know sizes vary, but she’s not a 6-8. And there’s nothing wrong with that, so quit lying.

  18. Artemis says:

She always look good though, the face doesn’t really change. She’s either getting subtle work done or she’s one of those people with great genetics. Her face shows signs of aging but with all her yo-yo dieting, she doesn’t look her age at all. A lot of people look older and gaunt when losing and gaining all the time, must be that Xenu juice!

    • Hautie says:

The first thing I notice, was the neck lift.

Kirstie finally had her sagging, under chin area, pulled up. Which will take a good 15 years off your face. It is amazing how much a bad neck/chin, will age your face.

But she did not go crazy with the face work. She still looks like herself. Her face really has not aged badly. I image she has used decent products over the years, to help keep her face healthy.

      • Artemis says:

Chin/neck, cleavage and hands are dead give-aways usually when it comes to ageing.

I think her never being stick thin and still indulging in fat and sweet (in moderation of course) foods helps because so many people who diet or turn their lifestyle around purely to lose weight, cut out all carbs and all fat. That bit of fat helps her face look young whereas those other stars with low body fat % look sick. I think.

  19. Greek Chic says:

For some reason Kirstie Alley frightens me.. I guess it’s the eyebrows which make her look like the devil.

  20. msw says:

I don’t care what size she is, but I feel badly for her in regards to the weight fluctuation. It just doesn’t seem like she is doing it for the right reasons and she’s not ready to commit to long term change. How many fifty pound weight swings has she had in the past 10 years?

  21. Paloma says:

A liar and a head case.

  22. Jewbitch says:

I’ve always loved her hair. And her eye makeup application. I don’t think she’s the size she claims. But hey, if saying that she’s a 6-8 makes her feel good…whatevs.

    • Becky1 says:

Yeah, I’ve always loved her hair, too-she has great hair. She looks really good-I’d love to look like that at 63.

  23. Cinderella says:

She looks better than she has in years. Size 8 or 10, she looks great. If I could look like that in my 60’s, I’d feel pretty damn good, too.

  24. Other Kitty says:

She’s a wackadoo, but I’ve always had Hair Envy when it comes to her. Also, LOVE the jacket! She looks great.

  25. Brittney B says:

Sigh, I wish numbers didn’t have to matter so much. I just bought three size 4 dresses, but I’m not kidding myself… it’s vanity sizing, and they’re more like 8’s from a couture perspective. Which is fine by me! I have a few size-12 skirts that are practically the same size as some other size-5 shorts. I don’t get it, so I don’t pay attention to it.

But I guess when you’re a Jenny Craig spokesperson, you have to get a little specific about the numbers on the scale (and tags). It just makes no sense at all for people like Kim to lie, when we have constant photographic evidence. PMK probably obsessed over her own numbers for decades, and it rubbed off on (translation: she forced it on) her daughters. Her son too, but he was affected more quietly and seriously.

  26. Green Is Good says:

This is ALL KIrstie is known for. Yo-yo dieting because she has no self-control, and is in a freaky cult.

  27. prissa says:

She looks like Fergie!!! They could be sisters! I think she’s more like a 12/14…

  28. Blythe says:

    She’s obsessed.

  29. amp122076 says:

I see she had a neck lift as well. Very natural looking, glad she didn’t otherwise alter her face too dramatically. She does lie about her weight. I remember her telling Oprah she was 219 at her highest (or something around that number) and Oprah was kind of like “uh huh”/side eye.

  30. Cupcake says:

Lies about her size aside, I think she looks better than she has in years in these pictures. Too bad about all of the crazy.

  31. littlestar says:

I remember around 10 years ago or so, she did a big weight loss reveal on Oprah’s old show. She came out in a swimsuit, with a coverup to cover the back of her, and claimed she weighed 150 pounds. There was no way she was 150 pounds (I would say she was 170+ at the very least), and I couldn’t believe Oprah was just letting her get away with her lies.

Lying about your weight loss just seems to negate trying to lose weight in the first place. I mean, why bother if you’re just going to lie to yourself anyway?

    • Esmom says:

I vaguely remember that. But Oprah has had similar issues with weight and weight loss so I can imagine why she didn’t call her out. I remember when Oprah pulled out a wagonload of fat to demonstrate how much she’d lost on some faddish program, weight that it didn’t take long for her to gain back.

  32. JenniferJustice says:

I hate the whole sizing thing anyway. I think it’s rude to ask what size a person is or wears. Besides, isn’t clothing size all relative? What exactly are we talking about? jeans, tops, leggings, coats, because I don’t know about all of you, but I wear a different size in just about every article of clothing known to man. Am I weird or do most women really wear just one size in everything they wear?

  33. LeAnn Stinks says:

I suspect she might have had gastro bypass surgery like Star Jones, the phony, who denied it for years.

  34. MissTrial says:

Swear I thought that was Fergie (like so many others)

  35. CH2 says:

You know it’s really hard to tell how much someone weighs or what size they are from pictures. I always thought Sandra Bullock would be a “husky” woman but she’s super tiny… And if those wax figures at Madame Tussauds are any indication (which I presume they would be because making them in proportion to real humans would make sense to me) then Oprah isn’t that big either… You just never really know…

  36. New York RN says:

I don’t think she is a 6 but I wanted to respond to a size 6 at 5’7″ being rail thin. My daughter is a size 4 and that height and is rail thin. Me a size 6 at 5’6″ and around 135 is not rail thin. Wish it was… Lol

  37. Nadia says:

I love when people say “I did such and such diet and it worked”, in the same breath complaining of all the weight they gained…weight loss is easy enough, MAINTENANCE is the bitch.
If one yo yo diets consistently, they do NOT need a diet plan, they need a plan for their head, a good therapist to figure out why they use food to satisfy the dark void inside..abusing it like others do with drugs and alcohol.
I personally think it’s a disconnect from all that we are…that beautiful energy that darkens with life experience and heartache..

  38. Bread and Circuses says:

She looks fantastic there, but I have no patience for Kirstie Alley and her antics. Lies about weight, lies about Patrick Swayze, lies about Leah Remini, etc.
