This is interesting, isn’t it? Cressida Bonas – the one time girlfriend and potential fiancée/wife of Prince Harry – is doubling-down on her acting career. I do wonder about Cressida. I wonder if she ever really wanted to marry Harry. I wonder if he was the one over it. I wonder if she played too many games in that relationship. I wonder if her goal was just to make a name for herself as a celebrity and parlay that into an acting/modeling career.
Cressida came to LA for this pre-Globes BAFTA event. She wore Mulberry, because she’s the newest face of Mulberry. She couldn’t have done that if she was still with Harry. Her dress is pretty and the shoes are… kind of ‘90s. But I don’t really think this whole look is dressy/fancy enough for the event. I will give her this though: from the neck up, she’s gorgeous. Great hair, great makeup, great skin. Very pretty.
Meanwhile, I’m including some photos of random men at the same event. Jamie Dornan was looking hot with his beard. I wonder why his wife hasn’t been attending any of these events? I suspect Fifty Shades producers have told him to keep Amelia at home so ladies can project their fantasies on him. That said I don’t see plain as a bad thing here. her beauty is simplistic. Not plain imo. Nothing amazing like Jolie’s lips, Crawfords mole, etc… Just simplistic beauty. If that’s plain to some I think there’s more projecting then admitted.
I agree with FLORC, but maybe it’s a definition thing? To me, “plain” is a polite way of saying “homely” or even “unattractive”. Maybe Spooky just means ordinary or average? I happen to think she’s pretty, but I like that sort of country fresh hippie thing she has going on, and I find her more than average pretty.

For all the press, she and Harry weren’t actually together for that long (the “2 year” figure attributed included ‘off’ times, a deployment, and that South Pole trek) but Cressida sure managed to make the most of it. I tip my hat to her.

They kept the majority of their time together hidden. It takes minimal investigating to know this. They kept distance and acted seperately knowing cameras were present. In several larger shots and random pictures taken by civilians this is demonstrated.
If she wanted to cash in on Harry we’d have known about her ages ago when Harry announced his interest in Cressida and Michael K on dlisted had a meltdown. Instead she stayed low key and I think because she really liked Harry. Because it didn’t work and she’s not sulking, but instead pursuing her career doesn’t mean she was only seeking a boost up from royal association. It might just mean she’s continuing on with her life and not sulking. I know crazy theory! Who does that!?
If it isn’t for Harry (and I think it is, the “shy” girl was a great PR angle), then it is because of her family connections. She’s definitely not here because of sheer talent. Therefore, until she wows me with her talent, I’ll keep disliking her.
@FLORC I’m not saying they weren’t together at all, but consider the events during the 2 years: Harry and the Vegas incident where afterwards they let it be known that he and Cressida had broken up, Harry was re-deployed to Afghanistan, and then the trek to the S Pole, where supposdely only after that did they get serious. By pretty much all accounts Cressida is a nice and fun girl, and I’m not disparaging her – merely saying that there’s some gamesmanship going on. I think it’s pretty widely accepted that she comes from a connected family that is pretty savvy on the PR front.
Edited to add: what I’m saying is, I think that the relationship was sold as more than it really was, NOT that she was only with Harry for publicity. I don’t even think she was the one doing the selling, more like someone in her circle.
@SpookySpooks – so you dislike someone you do not know, infer that she has a “PR” angle, accuse her of using her “family connections” instead of any discernible desire to work at something she likes? Well it appears you have loads of first hand knowledge that the rest of us don’t.
What I know is that first, she’s a very private person as shown by her complete lack of commenting to the press about her relationship with Harry, before and after their break-up. That speaks volumes. Second, she doesn’t have “family connections”, she was born into a very wealthy and artsy family and doesn’t have to use her family for anything. Third, she graduated from Leeds University and Trinity Laban Conservatoire, and studied dance. She’s a young woman born into prosperity and regularly rubs elbows with her friends in the BRF and is living her life the way anyone would under her circumstances. What do you expect her to do? Write a best-selling novel? Become a Rhodes Scholar? Cure cancer? Become the next Mother Theresa? She’s not a bad, dislikable person simply because of who she is, she’s apparently a very intelligent and together young woman setting out on her life journey.
I will dislike anyone who got chances because of nepotism until they prove they have talent. Because I can. You go ahead and like her.
Also, how do you know she’s intelligent? Is tjere any interview with her I could read?

I totally agree with you. In fact, she turned down more than one opportunity in order to avoid the label that she got something due to Harry being her boyfriend.
Why are we seeing so many articles on Cressida after the Duke’s scandal? She was at the lodge in Switzerland when the Duke came, for his family. There is a sort of duck and dodginess about it. She wasn’t important to the press prior, that is, there was nothing much about her after the breakup; press was even a bit patronizing with her. Are we being built up for another royal wedding – being sold on Cressida as a sort of “savior of dramatic fun” to the House of Windsor? (Heaven know something has to help them after deeds of the Duke, and Will and Kate’s seeming contempt of the crown, in their refusal to participate in a meaningful manner, or even just according to traditions).
Press is attempting to make her look good. She’s even appearing a bit more sophisticated. I think we are being sold.
These royals have so much control over the conversation about them – it’s amazing! There have to be major players (lords) who want to keep them in power. They are, after all, dependent on the system, for their own power and welfare.
The carefree spirit always seemed to click between Cressida and Harry. She cannot help that her spirit will not allow her to give up freedom of self, to be buried under centuries of dictates and commands. If there is anything in the works, she is carrying the bargaining chips – they would have to accommodate her!

Agree. Harry is gorgeous and amazing, but he’s also very busy. Even if his wife was also very busy they wouldn’t see eachother a lot and she would be tabloid target to boost the heirs wife. It’s a very tough role his wife will have. The question is would being with Harry outweigh the negatives of being his wife and a member of his family?
