Does Lena Dunham honestly believe that Tinder is a ‘tool for murder’?

Here are some photos of Lena Dunham at the Elle Women in TV summit yesterday. She looks almost presentable. Almost appropriate. Well done. That’s how low the bar has been set. I didn’t realize it when I was watching the Golden Globes on Sunday, but it was pointed out later – the Globes’ TV categories were a real celebration of women. Not just for female leads in major TV projects, but for female showrunners, female producers, female head writers. It pains me that Lena Dunham is considered the poster girl for women-behind-the-scenes in TV, but here we are. There are also some assorted other Lena stories going around. Here’s a list:

*People are still talking about Lena’s announcement on the Globes carpet that she had deleted Twitter from her phone and that she was sick of being trolled online by “neocons.” I have no doubt that Lena is a victim of online bullying. I side-eye the “neocon” reference because neo-cons are a specific subset of conservatives who care mostly about war and spreading democracy and not so much about Lena’s book. She’s getting criticism from conservatives, for sure, just not so much with the “neo-cons.”

*Lena thinks Tinder is for people looking to get murdered or for murderers hunting for victims. She told People: “It’s not about being famous, it’s not about being anything, it’s not even about being in a committed relationship. I believe Tinder is a tool for murder.”

*After posting a lot of “look at my ring!” photos on Instagram just so she could deny the “engagement rumors” that she herself started, Lena explains in a new interview that she just HAD to deny the rumors because her friends were offended that she hadn’t invited them to the wedding. Ugh, famewhore. She also said she won’t get married until every state allows gay marriage.

And finally, Girls’ executive producer Jennifer Konner posted a bunch of photos of Lena playing with her pasties (for her boobs). Lena posed topless for Konner’s Instagram, and Lena also pulled off her pasties and stuck them on her cheeks… in the middle of the Golden Globes. Because of course. You can see the NSFW photo here.

    she’s such a douche

  2. Audrey says:

I find her to be completely obnoxious.

Like i tried to like her because I support the example she sets for women in leadership roles by doing her own show. But she’s just awful and I can’t stand her and her attention seeking antics

  3. Sarah says:

The last thing I would ever want to see is Lena Dunham naked. Actually, the last thing I want to see is Lena Dunham.

  4. QQ says:

she’s the Worst… and also, here She looks like the Ugly Cousin you didn’t wanna Invite to your 12th Birthday Party but had to cause your parents insisted

  5. Patricia says:

Lena is truly approaching a new Art form with her ability to take an average looking face and body and make it absolutely revolting through personality, posture and facial expression.
So deep and so talented and so hipster, that one.

  6. Solace says:

New here…i saw the first season of girls and was irritated by the entire cast. Also i am tired of seeing the creators cast themselves as the leading lady who is desired by the most attractive man around…be it Lena or Mindy.
    End of rant😊
Please someone cool like Tina Fey be on TV again

  7. Scarlet Vixen says:

Is this all just some high level, James Franco-esque, trolling the masses, in some crazy stupid performance art bullsh*t? PLEASE tell me that this ridiculous b*tch is just trolling us…

  8. Miran says:

I’ll admit it not THAT far fetched. The first time I heard about it I was like ‘yeah that sounds totally safe…’. If people have used Craigslist, it could happen.

  9. scout says:

There is a very thin line between genius and complete insanity!

  10. Allie says:

I can only hope for her sake that she does her own makeup. It’s worse than mine, and I’m horrible at it. I bet she’s back on Twitter by next week, she’s too much of an attention seeker

    • Miran says:

Lol, no self respecting makeup artist would let her leave the chair like that so I think you’re safe.

  11. Izzy says:

I honestly believe that Lena Dunham is a complete tool.

She didn’t “delete Twitter” at all. She’s been posting all week. But everyone knows Lena isn’t great at telling the truth.

Sounds like she just wanted the attention of her grand announcement at the Globes and to get to play up the victim angle- esp. After the disastrous PR from her book. Did she ever finish her book tour?

Does she not realize that everybody who is well known gets treated terribly on Twitter?! She should look at some of the things people tweet to male athletes after a loss – professional as well as collegiate. She just isn’t that special.

  14. CK says:

I can’t wait for Girls to be cancelled. It may be a great show, but another spring of Lena Dunham begging for attention is just too much to handle. I bet all of her friends talk about her when she’s not in the room, because honestly how could you not?

  15. HoustonGrl says:

I don’t get the hate for Lena Dunham. Her show is hilarious and people like it. She wrote a decent book, especially for someone so young, and she promotes a healthy body image, which is more than I can say for like 99.9% of hollywood. I’m not saying she’s the second-coming, but why does the whole Internet hate her?

  16. Shambles says:

HER TEETH ARE SO FCKING YELLOW. I CAN NO LONGER BE SILENT. It bothers me so badly. If you can afford to have clothes specifically designed to be as unflattering for every single part of your body as physically possible, you can afford to have your teeth whitened. Or a decent toothpaste, ffs.

  17. Snugglekitty says:

Last year a girl from NZ went on holiday to Australia and used tinder to meet up with a guy, their date at his high rise apartment ended with her being pushed or slipping to her death from the balcony… Very sad case. Of course meeting people through an app is one thing, going to their house is another and is unwise

    • Emma says:

I can’t help but think his lawyers will end up pushing for a mistrial as there can’t be any untainted people left to be jurors who haven’t heard all the sordid details of the case…. the recordings were leaked numerous times! That guy is a disgusting creep regardless of if he did it or not

  18. Melanie says:

They may be on opposite sides of the spectrum on many things, but her trolling, famewhoring, victim routine is akin the the Kardashians. What she said to Ryan Seacrest about Twitter was so ridiculous. Don’t wanna hear people talk smack about you? Then get off Twitter. But she can’t because she loves the drama. I read that she was back on Twitter that night. I hate myself for even posting about her as I try to avoid her at all costs. I do not get her appeal in the slightest.

  19. meh says:

As a queer person I can say with confidence that 99.9% of gay people do not care if Lena does or does not marry. Thanks but no thanks, girl. Gay marriage rights really are not about you and your rich, white, cis, straight, priveledged-as-hell self.
