Jennifer Aniston in head-to-toe Saint Laurent for ‘TDS’: adorable or awful?

FFN_Aniston_Jenn_KET_012215_51633382

Here are some photos of Jennifer Aniston outside of The Daily Show building in NYC last night. First, a word about her ensemble… out of all of her promotional outfits this week, this is my favorite. I never really mind Jennifer’s neverending supply of little black dresses, but some are better than others. This one is a winner – good lines, not too matronly and not too “young.” Love the sleeves. And she did a ponytail – with a black ribbon! The best part? Her killer slingbacks. Those are great. The whole ensemble is Saint Laurent. Again with the Saint Laurent!!

So, Aniston appeared on The Daily Show last night for Cake. Jon Stewart was very nice to her and very complimentary for all things CAKE. Let the Cake wash over you. CAKE. Also, again with the “layers”. Cake layers!!!

Jennifer and Chris Messina go to the same gym?! And Jennifer is right about one thing: Jon Stewart is still a very attractive man. He was adorable when he was younger, and now he’s just got that sexy salt-and-pepper look. He’s awesome. Anyway, this was kind of a boring interview.

By the way, now that Cake is getting a limited release in more cities, more reviews are coming out and not all of them are complimentary. “Cake is Jennifer Aniston’s half-baked attempt to be taken seriously” says the AV Club. “Jennifer Aniston’s Cake is a heaping slice of Oscar grubbing,” says the NY Post. Even Vogue chimed in with a review, declaring “it’s not hard to see why” Jennifer was left off the Best Actress Oscar nominations list. Ouch.

    The sling backs are awesome.

    • doofus says:

I love the whole outfit, but I’m a sucker for black. my main go-to color as it doesn’t show if you spill something. and (as the saying goes) it’s slimming!

    • Kitten says:

I love the sling-backs and the dress as well.
This is very Aniston–super-classic, clean lines, and black (of course).

I’ve said it before around here, but this is why she sticks with that Calvin Klein circa 1998 look–because it works on her. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

      • bella says:

        100% agree!
        much like Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy…
        classic simple lines equals elegance!
though have to say NO ONE did it better than CBK.
        the epitome of simple elegance…

      • lucy2 says:

I like this outfit too, and I agree the classic/clean line stuff works for her.

      • Birdix says:

I like it all too, the neckline of the dress is very flattering. But the ribbon doesn’t quite work. I was going to an event last night and tied my hair back and was trying to find some kind of bauble to make it dressier. I happened across a ribbon and set it down as it seemed too childish. I ended up clipping an sparkly earring on, not really a better solution, I’ll admit.

  2. shizwhat says:

She’s not the most stunning woman but she’s fit, ages well and has a good stylist/sense of dressing. There’s a certain elegance to her.

    • Say What!? says:

Well pretty much any fashion person disagrees with you. She’s been on the best dressed lists for almost 20 years.

    • Janie says:

Agreed, muggsby, sorry I think she is as elegant as an elephant. And I’ve never seen her on best dressed lists much. Even here, there is no bow in the ribbon, she just wrapped it around the pony tail once or twice then left it with the undone look. It actually looks like black duct tape hanging down on each side of the pony tail.

    • someonestolemyname says:

Her face is starting to look like someone who Drinks and Tans.
The outfit is sort of meh….not really anything special and I’m not a fan of her open low V neck looks on her chest anymore. I can’t erase the look of that V neck suit she wore the other day. It looked Awful.

    • minx says:

When we she on a best dressed list? I missed that.

    • shizwhat says:

But does anyone pull off blonde hair, especially at her age?

    • TeaAndSympathy says:

I don’t think she looks anything but average. Her faux tan and makeup look horrible.

    • Becky1 says:

I never have thought of her as particularly elegant but I agree that she looks good. She’s almost 46. I really don’t understand the people who say she looks old for her age-I think their opinions are distorted because they don’t like her. I don’t know anyone in real life who is her age and looks that good.

She may not be the greatest actress, but aside from some occasional bad fashion choices and too much spray tan at times she’s an attractive woman. I would love to look like that when I’m 46.

  3. Crumpet says:

Love it! I wish she had had the good taste to wear something like this instead of that awful maroon pantsuit she wore a couple of shindigs ago.

    • k says:

i wasn’t fond of the colour, but i liked the suit itself…i was actually just coming to say that she is the current contender as getting a boob lift on blind gossip, and i hope not. i think her body, chest included, is amazing.
out of curiousity: was it the whole suit, or the colour you didn’t like?

      • Crinkle says:

Oh, I loved the color and it was a great one for her. The suit jacket was too boxy IMO. It would have been improved 100% if it had been more tailored to show her waist.

She doesn’t need a boob lift, good grief.

      • Crumpet says:

Dang it browser! That was me, Crumpet, not Crinkle. I’m not trying to be sneaky – that was a name I initially picked and then thought better of. Apologies all!

*goes crinkling off to find a crumpet*

  4. twink says:

I liked her and defended her against the “master of PR” accusations but this Cake campaign has made me a believer of just how much she and Huvane manipulate the media and it’s made me less of a fan, honestly.

    • OT–but I am seriously in love with your eyebrows.

    • FingerBinger says:

She’s trying to sell a movie. She’s no different from any other actor trying to get butts in seats.

      • twink says:

I mean the Oscar campaign, the junket just for her after the nominations, the over the top hyped reviews.

      • Janie says:

I don’t know of ANY OTHER actor who keeps talking about their exes while promoting a movie. Come on! I get wanting to defend her, but surely even her defenders/fans see how stupid it is to deny what she is doing. There is NO OTHER actor that does this. None.

      • FingerBinger says:

Jennifer Aniston talking about her personal life doesn’t offend me like it does other people.

      • Luca76 says:

Sorry but from the beginning the selling of Cake as an Oscar vehicle for Aniston has been a blatant show of her PR muscle.
From the stories of a standing ovation at TIFF which occurred prior to the showing of the film as some reflection of her performance , to the creation of Cinelou to release Cake when there were no takers,to the hiring of Lisa Taback it’s blantant clear she wanted an Oscar for this and used her PR to create buzz out of thin air.
Oh and one only has to compare the press she did for that Elmore James movie she did last year to know she’s doing much more press than is necessary for a film that will probably show in 5 cities in the US then straight to DVDS and streaming platforms.

All that being said I’ve admired her hustle (except the dead BF story that was gross).

    • Josephina says:

In the pictures above, you can see Huvane smiling and (pushing) guiding her along.

You do not see him this way with the other actresses he manages.

She should marry him… Oh, forgot. He’s gay… so is her hairdresser. These are the guys she should marry.

And yes, she does give off the Reals Housewives vibe, but she fits more in the RHOOC, right there with Vicka Gunvalston and Tamra Judge. They love Mexico, tequila shots, the beach, margaritas, douches and whooping it up.

    • Janie says:

Good to see more people are seeing through her.

      • funcakes says:

She reminds me of the old movie actresses in the old40’s that needed their publicity machines to plan their over move. Nothing bad is happening just smiling and dancing for the camera and press 24/7.

      • funcakes says:

She reminds me of the old movie actresses in the old40’s that needed their publicity machines to plan their over move. Nothing bad is happening just smiling and dancing for the camera and press 24/7.

    • someonestolemyname says:

All these interviews were scheduled because she and Huvane thought the Oscar nod was in the bag. IMO

    • someonestolemyname says:

      +1

  5. Luca76 says:

There is a reason why the reviews were held back. Even the critics that hyped her performance said it was a bad movie.

  6. JH says:

    No on the hair ribbon.

  7. Jayna says:

Fantastic. I love the outfit on her and the shoes. I want the complete ensemble.

  8. Josephine says:

Feels dated (cleavage or legs – both feels too 90s) but it fits her nicely. The hair ribbon, though?

  9. Grant says:

She looks fantastic. Those slingbacks are everything!

  10. I love everything (those earrings!) except for that ribbon. Way too schoolgirl-going-to-a-funeral type….

And Jon Stewart is sexy-sexy. Like your hot, graying neighbor. Or your dad’s best friend, lol. I had a massive crush on my dad’s best friend when I was like 12/13….bad thing is I think he knew about it, lol. But he’s a mix of Jon Stewart and Liam Neeson. Freaking huge–at least 6″4′, has some freckles, blue eyes, and brown/silver hair on the sides…..and he’s only gotten prettier with age. Yeah, no, I’m not over my crush.

  11. boredblond says:

Agree with others..the blue ribbon? But think she’s looking great..

  12. That made me like Reese a little more. I like her just fine in films (don’t get excited at all about her films), but I am SO glad that she started doing this. I think more and more women need to get into producing and directing–especially celebrities. I never really paid any attention to directing and/or producing up until a few years ago. Like I knew who some of the key players were, but I think if a lot more female celebs got into directing and producing, then a lot of young women would pay more attention to it, and actually make sure to go support them.

    • LAK says:

VC: Reece Witherspoon has been a producer since 2000ish. She produced those LEGALLY BLONDE films as well as other films like FOUR CHRISTMASES.

I’m finding it very irksome that she’s lying about when she got into producing and why she did it when everyone knows she was all about size of cheque for a very long time.

Many actresses have been producers with mixed results eg Demi Moore produced those AUSTIN POWERS films whilst everyone thought she was retired in Idaho or wherever. Drew Barrymore produced her CHARLIE’S ANGELS franchise and stuff like NEVER BEEN KISSED. Elizabeth Banks has been producing for some time, love her PITCH PERFECT franchise. Sandra Bullock has been producing her own films and others since the mid-90s. Goldie Hawn produced many of her own films in the 80s, starting with PRIVATE BENJAMIN.

Let’s not forget that one of the biggest film financiers at the moment is Megan Ellison – someone who is using their trustfund to make interesting films from THE MASTER to all those David O Russell films – she’s wierdly obsessed with Jessica Chastain, but that’s a different story – sidenote, her brother funds studio films rather than indies.

Then there are people like Amy Pascal (even if she came across like an idjit in those emails), Wendy Finerman, Kathleen Kennedy, Alison Owen to name just a few of the women getting the job done.

The problem seems to be a lack of meaningful roles for women which has to be addressed.

      • lucy2 says:

From what I can see, Reese produced the second Legally Blonde movie and Penelope, but now seems to be doing it with almost all of her projects. I think she started a new company not too long ago, so that might be why she’s talking about it as if it were a new thing. Totally agree she was going for paychecks for a while, but if she’s interested in producing more interesting roles for women now, more power to her.

I am fascinated by how good Megan Ellison’s film resume is in such a short amount of time. 4 of her projects got Best Picture nominations, and Foxcatcher this year has gotten awards attention too.

      • Jayna says:

I guess they waited to release Jennifer’s movie until all the nominations were done for all the shows and most of the awards were over because the movie is average. I’ve never seen a movie released so late that all the award shows are practically over but a couple, with no one having seen the movie but a few pre-screenings.

  13. MsMercury says:

The first review isn’t that bad, it basically says that Aniston does a good job with a bad script the second on is more harsh on her performance. I’ve been reading the RT reviews and most of them give the actors a lot of good praise while tearing apart the script and director. I don’t care for JA but this movie sort of interest me because it deals with chronic pain. I think I will wait until netflix though.

Don’t care for the outfit but like the shoes.

  14. lisa2 says:

I like how she made sure to mention the SAG awards.. yes you have anther nominated award event. (she did it with Ellen too)

It was actually nice for her to name the other actors in the cast.. especially since none of them are promoting the film for some strange reason. She really has not talked about them during the promotions tour.

    • GoOnGirl! says:

Think someone must have finally told her you didn’t make this movie by yourself and it’s ok to mention the other people in the movie. You can tell she’s been reading the blogs. Before it was all I, I, I and me, me, me.

    • Dante says:

That was a huge misstep. Regarding her co stars, it was practically crickets chirping. Which is really strange given how much character interaction is in the film. As painful as her interviews are to read, Kristen Stewart has been out there pumping up Julianne Moore every step of the way. It’s a nice way to get your Oscar hustle on without everyone having to hear you talk about yourself! Given the reviews, however, I don’t think it would have mattered.

  15. maeliz says:

She looks great. Awesome legs, remove ribbon and I love the ponytail

    • Calcifer says:

Agree with the legs compliment. Whatever you may think of her I think no one would deny that Jennifer Aniston has the best legs. Also love the dress, the ponytail and the earrings. Agree with some of the posters here though that she is too tan and too blonde. By the way, I saw a TV interview with her for the first time in a long time and what struck me, is that she isn’t very feminine and not very refined either. But seems nice anyway.

  16. lisa2 says:

This is what female actresses should be doing. Creating a Production company and making things happen. Reese has done very well this year. And there is not enough praise for her getting a heads up. I never understood why some of the older actresses never did this.

It is one thing to whine about opportunities not coming your way and making them for yourself. So good for Reese.

  17. Cecada says:

Question: in that top pic, a bunch of people waving big glossy photos of her appear to be clammoring for her autograph… Are these people hired by Huvane to do that? I’m just saying, it’s strange that you would carry around these big glossy prints waiting for an autograph… she’s not some pop star; she’s Jennifer Aniston, Mini-Van Queen. I don’t see any Mini-Van types in that crowd. Just curious.

    • doofus says:

a LOT of autograph seekers do that. I’ve seen a ton of celebs who are signing a pic or calendar or poster for a fan.

a signed pic is worth more (think eBay) than just a signature on a piece of paper. unfortunately, a lot of those “fans” you see in videos and pics like that are (I know this sounds weird…) “professional” autograph seekers. It’s a money maker for them.

      • Cecada says:

Huh… Interesting. I did not know that. Hard to believe signed photos of her are worth that much, but then again I’m not big on autographed anything from anybody. Just not my thing. Thanks for the info!

      • doofus says:

it’s weird what people will pay for. I’m not big on autographs, either, tbh.

I think I have only a few, and they’re all from when I was younger at political events. I have a Bill Bradley and a Walter Mondale somewhere.

OH! and Henry Rollins, but he’s my secret boyfriend, so…

      • Cecada says:

Well, now,I have to admit – a Henry Rollins autograph would be totally badass.

    • lucy2 says:

Outside of theaters and TV studios in NY, I’ve seen this several times, with celebrities of all levels of fame. Most of those people are autograph sellers. I saw one guy with a big bag of photos, and he shows up, digs out whoever’s photo he needs, gets a signature, and moves on to the next.
I have a few autographs on playbills, but wouldn’t personally purchase one. It must be a profitable business though, there are lots of people who sell them.

  18. Katenotkatie says:

How do I join Chris Messina’s gym?? That man is delicious.

  19. The Original G says:

The top of this dress does not fit her. He boobage game has dropped.

I agree with the cleavage or legs rule.

  20. lucy2 says:

Good post! I like the initiative that Reese has had lately too, and she’s done pretty well with it. Gone Girl was a huge success, and she was very good in Wild, which she produced as well. She might not be the nicest person in the world, but I have to give her credit for the changes she’s making to her career and the effort she’s putting in to it.

  21. kri says:

Good god. Because of my dyslexia my eyes read that as Aniston STD, not TDS. That’s what I get fo working 11 hour days. JA has cooch invaders. I need a vacation, and those shoes. Get that ribbon OUT of your hair before I do it for you, gurrrrrrrl.

  22. scout says:

Atlast, a decent, elegant looking black dress, she looks great.
She was good in that Cake, not Oscar worthy but not bad at all.

  23. Ginger says:

I adore those shoes! Although I most certainly could not afford them. Sigh. The ribbon is a cute touch.

  24. kibbles says:

I find her performance in Cake and her Oscar campaign to be a bit embarrassing, and I am being as objective as possible. I am not a loonie for either Aniston or Jolie. I just call it like I see it which is that Aniston is a mediocre actress who will likely never be taken seriously enough to win an Oscar.

Let me say something positive: she almost always looks good, exceptionally good for a 45-year-old woman. Her looks and persona is what keeps her in the spotlight at her age with minimal talent. She has a very unique and successful career in Hollywood that few women her age enjoy even though she is not known for having stellar acting skills. There is no shame in being an attractive mediocre television actress who is semi-talented enough to win an Emmy and Golden Globe. What is cringeworthy is seeing her actually believe that she could have been nominated for an Oscar for an okay role in an okay indie film few people have seen at this point.

I sense that people like Jon Stewart are just being kind but know that her performance isn’t stellar and isn’t Oscar worthy. It’s the elephant in the room that no one can mention.

    • See that’s why I couldn’t ever have a job like this–having to interview celebs for their films. Because I would find it hard to praise a movie that I thought was boring or a performance that I thought sucked. A real hard time.

  25. daughterofjean says:

She looks amazing! Love the whole look! Gorgeous woman.

  26. funcakes says:

Oh my God her again. She should really give us a chance to miss. Now that she has absolutely nothing to do she can finally plan that big shindig wedding she was waaaaaaaaay to b
    usy to plan for

  27. Judyk says:

Adorable is not an option. She looks fine. And that’s it.

  28. Anastasia says:

Ok I’m at Aniston Overload DEFCON 11. I’m turning off my eyesight from here on out if I so much as detect a story about her. If she finally gets married,* someone send me a smoke signal.

    *HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Janet says:

The fit is off on top. She needs a bra to hoist her sagging boobage. For a woman her age this is not a good look. Flash your legs or your cleavage but not both at once. Nice shoes, though.

    • Dante says:

Thank you! I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed that the top is off, I think it is on her left side, hard to tell because of the black but it is laying wrong. Still, this looks good on her compared to some of her debacles. As for chest and legs, I agree, unless you are a professional escort, pick one because both always looks desperate, always. I know people who try to pull it off and still look classy but it never works.

  30. Janet says:

I thought that movie was supposed to open in wide release. What happened? Did the distributor get cold feet?

  31. TedTheodoreLogan says:

    Simple and chic.

  32. Elaine says:

    She looks very nice.

  33. LT says:

For the most part, I find her fairly dull, but I like this ensemble and I love the shoes!
