Matt Damon, looking scruffy and getting in Bourne shape: would you hit it?

Matt Damon at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
These are photos of Matt Damon at the airport in LA yesterday and outside the gym about a month ago. Damon is surely prepping to play Bourne again, he’s agreed to do another sequel now that director Paul Greengrass is onboard again, and it shows. He looks great, but I like him no matter what. Damon is always my favorite.

Matt Damon Gets His Workout In

In terms of Damon’s career, he’s got a Ridley Scott movie coming out this fall, The Martian, in which he plays an astronaut abandoned on Mars. I think the photo below is from that set. He’s also about to start work on The Great Wall, a “mystery centered around the construction of the Great Wall of China,” with Willem Dafoe and Pedro Pascal.

Accompanying Damon on his many film shoots will be his loyal assistant, Colin, (shown above) a Seattle Seahawks fan from Sammamish, Washington. Damon is of course a New England Patriots fan from Boston. Like other bets he’s had with friends of rival teams in the past, Damon made a bet with Colin. He promised to wear a Seahawks jersey in a major interview if the Seahawks won The Super Bowl while Colin apparently promised to wear a Patriots jersey for an entire year if the Patriots were victorious. That seems pretty unfair, and now Colin has to pony up. Here’s what Damon told a Washington radio station ahead of the Super Bowl.

If the Seahawks win
“On the talk show of his choice, I have to wear a Russell Wilson jersey. I have to come out and do the whole talk show in a Russell Wilson jersey.”

If the Patriots win
“Colin and I have about a year of work lined up all over the world and he’s got to wear a Tom Brady jersey everywhere we go. I’m going to take a picture of him every day. We’re going to the Great Wall. I’m just going to start a blog and it’s going to be this miserable Seattle fan wearing a Patriots jersey in seven or eight different countries.”

How is it fair that Damon would only have to wear a Seahawks jersey once while Colin has to wear a Patriots jersey the entire year? That is a real boss/employee dynamic right there, but maybe Colin only has to put the shirt on for a photo op and then he gets to take it off. Incidentally, Damon made a similar Superbowl bet with Anthony Mackie (his co-star in The Adjustment Bureau) in 2010. Damon was stuck wearing a New Orleans Saints jersey on Letterman. What I wouldn’t give to be in the same room as Matt Damon and Anthony Mackie, even if they were talking sports.

Sounds like Colin is not only an assistant, but a good friend. Not just someone to throw your cellphone at (I’m looking at you, Naomi Campbell).

  2. Tiffany says:

I would hit…a restaurant with him for a nice meal and conversation. Or a lounge for a adult beverage. I am a Damon fan but it does not draw into the physical.

    • BangersandMash says:

      Lol.

      You win the internet

Same with Michael Fassbender (for me)… I would hit… the streets of Dublin with him, and chat about how I hit Matt Damon.

      • Tiffany says:

@Bangers. We should trying and start a trend. You might not have sex with them but you will do other things and start it with, I would hit.

  3. Lilacflowers says:

He reminds me too much of the guys I grew up with, all of whom I love like brothers. So wouldn’t it hit but I love him and would glay hang out and talk sports with him.

A stranded astronaut? Wasn’t that his role in Interstellar? The film about the Great Wall sounds interesting.

With his filming schedule, he probably won’t be home to go to the Marathon next month.

    • lucy2 says:

I haven’t read the Martian yet (heard it’s really good and I like Matt so I’ll go see it) but in the description it does sound strikingly similar to his part of Interstellar.

      • Isabelle says:

Reading it currently & it’s such a fun book. A book about surviving that doesn’t take itself or the ‘hero’ so seriously. Good humor & suspense. Damon is perfect for the role & will see it for sure. Little worried about Ridley because his movies lately are, OK at best.

  4. Beth says:

Yes, will hit it. He looks great.

On the astronaut movie, I am stone cold on anything Ridley Scott after sitting through the execrable mess that is Exodus: Gods and Kings. However, I’m here for a Damon-Greengrass reunion – I love the Bourne trilogy movies!

So I guess Jeremy Renner’s out of the picture then?

    • Jellybean says:

I am not a huge fan of Matt Damon, but I thought he was very good as Jason Bourne and in that role at least he was quite sexy. I was always very clear that Damon shouldn’t do a fourth film simply because the first 3 were a perfectly wrapped up set and I didn’t want that ruined. The Bourne Legacy simply wasn’t as good, in terms of story and direction, but I actually thought Renner did a good job and there was real potential to take it forward with him and Rachael Weisz as an equally matched couple; not the disposable love interests of the trilogy. So I am a bit nervous about this new film and I hope Renner isn’t completely out of the picture, although I suspect he is because, whatever the wishes of Universal, I think there is a power play going on and Damon will not acknowledge anything associated with The Bourne Legacy, including Renner. Without Damon’s cooperation Universal will never be able to operate parallel stories, multiple agents and occasional cross overs, which is clearly what they want to do.

      • Beth says:

Yep I agree there’s always the fear that the new installment would disappoint (kinda like the awful Hobbit movies). I do still have faith in Damon and Greengrass though; the three films have been of consistently high quality and Greengrass is a good director from what I’ve seen of him. I’ve been moaning about the proliferation of Hollywood franchises and the dearth of creativity but this is one franchise I actually don’t mind. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it doesn’t turn out to be a dud. And yes, I agree Renner is pretty much out of the picture.

      • Jellybean says:

Hopefully you are right Beth. On the plus side Renner is filming Capatin Amercia: Civil War and a (romantic?) drama with Amy Adams instead. I get the impression he doesn’t really like being a movie star and would much prefer making fun films with his mates and demanding dramas in between, neither of which will place him at the center of a media frenzy.

  5. mimif says:

Sigh. He would have looked great in a Wilson jersey…

  6. Stranded on Mars? *yawns*

  7. AG-UK says:

I really like Matt he seems like a nice guy but I would suggest a new pair of specs I am not so sure about those I am sure he probably doesn’t care.

  8. Tracy says:

Why do I think being Matt Damon’s assistant would be very, very fun? I LOVE the Bourne movies and cannot wait for the new one.

    • rosalie says:

Tracy you read my mind – sounds like a dream job. Travel, awesome boss, meet interesting people and I doubt there’s a lot of “heavy lifting” so to speak.

  9. MindlessContemplations says:

I just LOVE Damon. That is all.

  10. Isabelle says:

Would hit it & then have a drink afterwards. So looking forward to The Martian, like the book a lot. Add Damon to a fun & an original plot, I’m seeing it first showing.

  11. lisa says:

no, his face is a little cro magnon for me

  12. Sos101 says:

    Yes, forever.

  13. Jane says:

    No.

  14. Janet says:

Matt has just finished the filming of The Martian in Budapest and Jordan. He doesn’t film Bourne until much later in the year, after The Great Wall. Colin has been his assistant for well over 10 years and is a producer on the Bourne movies.

  15. JoJo says:

Love Matt, but the movie choices … this is his third (?) sci fi movie recently (Interstellar, Trapped on Mars, and then one with Jodie Foster, whatever that was called.) Add that to all of the war/CIA/spy films, and … snooze. I liked him in The Departed, Good Will Hunting of course, and the Bourne movies. And actually, he was great in the Liberace movie with Michael Douglas.

  16. Dorky says:

Sorry; never could stand him. He’s smug, and I don’t like his mouth.

Unfortunately, I do love the Bourne movies (except for the Renner guy; terrible actor). Anyhoo!

  17. kitty-bye says:

Not really, I wish they would recast.
