Scott Disick checks into rehab in Costa Rica after Atlantic City bender

Here’s a photo of Scott Disick on Saturday night in Atlantic City. He was hosting at The Pool After Dark club. Scott kept it together for still shots, but he was reportedly downing tequila and beer all night. TMZ published a profanity-filled video of Scott screaming that London could suck his “d*** and balls” for telling him not to swear during an appearance there. The next morning, he was spotted stumbling around the Harrah’s hotel lobby. An employee escorted Scott to his room, and he slept through check-out time by 6 hours.

Things must have gotten even more messy because TMZ says Scott checked into rehab on Monday. Not just any old rehab. He entered a facility in Costa Rica, which is known for its alternative treatment for substance abuse. This rehab uses the herb Ibogaine, a hallucinogen (derived from plant roots) to fend off addictive cravings. Here’s the lowdown:

Scott Disick has decided to go to rehab, after an insane, tequila-fueled weekend.

Disick checked into Rythmia Life Advancement Center in Costa Rica. He says, “I realize my issues are bigger than me and I’m ready to truly remedy this struggle I continue to battle.”

Scott was in Atlantic City over the weekend where he did multiple shots of tequila right out in the open. He then went on a rant onstage and ended the night at 8 AM, where he was stumbling in the hotel lobby without shoes. At 5 PM people went to his room to do a welfare check when he was MIA.

Scott has had multiple problems with alcohol and has vowed to maintain his sobriety, especially after his girlfriend Kourtney gave him an ultimatum.

As for his treatment, he says he is doing Iboga treatment, which involves roots from a small African tree that supposedly helps people battle addiction.

As for the facility, Rythmia is located on a private estate offering a “luxurious world-class experience” including a five-star restaurant, full-service spa with mud bath, and fitness center.

[From TMZ]

Scott’s been on a downslide ever since both of his parents died in late 2013, which left him devastated. He was hospitalized last year for alcohol poisoning (on his birthday). Last fall, Scott checked into rehab, saying, “I thought I was going to die.” He also spoke of not being able to break his routine and being “sick of hearing myself talk about the problems I have that I don’t fix.

E! says this Costa Rica center isn’t new to Scott: “He’s been there recently once before and he liked it. He believes in it. He doesn’t have to be dragged there or anything. This is his thing and really wants to do it. He’s working on his issues.” People adds that Kourtney is beyond tired of Scott’s excuses, and he “has to realize that his actions have consequences that go far beyond himself.

Of course — because this involves the Kardashian Klan — some outlets question Scott’s motives. The New York Daily News spoke to an “insider” who says Scott must certainly be getting paid to endorse the rehab, but there’s no evidence to support this claim. Yes … Kris Jenner will use Scott’s plight for press and ratings, and god only knows this family doesn’t provide any type of support system. But I can buy that Scott legitimately requires alcohol rehab. Let’s hope he finally gets the help he needs.

For once,I am TeamConspiration .The Kardashiand never do anything for FREE or the well of their family members ( all is money )

    They are vile,cupid,vapid and vain

  2. NewWester says:

Demon Mother is really working hard to get people interested in the new season of KUWTK. Costa Rica is very pretty

  3. L says:

He needs AA. The fancy rehab will help, but unless he finds a way to manage the situation by himself on the day-to-day, it won’t get better.

    • LadyMTL says:

I think he also should get therapy to help him cope with his parent’s deaths (assuming he hasn’t tried that already). I can’t imagine how horrible it must have been for him to lose both of them in the same year, and until he can work through that grief I doubt he’ll ever really be able to kick the alcohol.

      • Palar says:

Agree there’s a massive amount of grief (and most likely mental health issues) contributing to all of this. Real therapy has to play a role in this recovery. I sent my other half off to intensive therapy finally at the beginning of February after the final straw dealing with years of alcoholism and depression from his mothers death. Still early days but the therapy is really working well (dealing with his withdrawals from alcohol was a different story however! That was really difficult.)

      • Nicolette says:

Yes, losing both parents within a short amount of time must have been devastating. He should receive some kind of therapeutic support to help him through that. He comes off like a douche so much of the time, but I do wish him well. What he really needs is to ‘rehab’ himself away from that poisonous family. And no doubt PMK will exploit his troubles for their stupid show. I honestly think there is no level too low for that woman to sink too.

      • AntiSocialButterfly says:

Yes. People only abuse themselves like this when there is great, deep pain.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I was wondering about that. I’m not comparing the two in severity, but I went to a luxury spa once to learn new habits for a healthy lifestyle and lose a few pounds. I stayed for three weeks, and you had classes about nutrition, cooking classes, and unlimited exercise classes and a spa treatment every day. It was heaven. Completely stress-free. And SO easy. I thought I could change my life after three weeks, but real life, obviously, was so different. At first I was baking all my own bread with organic ingredients and going to only local sources for food shopping, etc. Of course I couldn’t keep it up, and although I learned a lot and kept the weight off, I discovered that you have to find the right formula for you in real life. So these luxury rehabs sort of make me wonder how things will be once you’re out of that cocoon.

      • Bridget says:

And that was just to lose some weight – could you imagine if you were there for an addiction? Most of these rehab facilities that celebs are going to are 5 star spas. Its all about getting clean in the absolute most comfort possible, being pampered and trying to cushion the discomfort of confronting an addiction. How on earth can that be helpful?

    • Josephine says:

I don’t think the fancy rehab will work if he’s getting paid to go there. Sounds more like a business opportunity that real help. I doubt he gets real help until he becomes a useful member of society, and there is nothing to indicate that he will ever strive for that. His self-esteem must be in the dumps. At least the women in that klan can pretend that they do something, and they don’t seem bright enough to know it’s not true. Scott seems to know.

      • StormsMama says:

        Josephine

        Good points

        However he IS A FATHER
And that “should” be enough to motivate/inspire/keep sobriety.

Ugh I never thought i would say this but
He is an addict and I feel for him
Hope he gets his shit together. Asap. Bc otherwise he will be dead before the year’s end.

  4. Lucy2 says:

He does need help, but there’s no way that Kris won’t use this as a storyline for the show, or encourage a whole other round of tabloid coverage.

  5. Imo says:

    *drums fingers on desk*
Costa Rica? Where they sell burgers and coke right on the beach? As well as stuff to drink?

  6. Incognito says:

If he really is trying to get clean, and I kind of believe he has a problem and is trying to get help and it did start after his parents died, he has to stop going to the club openings/parties that he gets paid to host. Alcoholism is not something that is cured. It’s something that you deal with for the rest of your life and you manage. The temptation will always be there but it’s so much worse when you surround yourself with it at an event like that.

If this isn’t just a ratings/money/publicity stunt, I hope he gets the help he needs.

  7. Claire says:

I was at Harrah’s this weekend and didn’t go to this party because I thought it would be a shit show. I’m kind of regretting it now…

  8. We Are All Made of Stars says:

Well I know what it’s like to suffer badly (not with alcoholism) with a problem that no one can fix, so I hope he is serious about this treatment and the uphill battle that it will take to get him where he needs to be. I’ve heard good things about various hallucinogens being used to treat addiction and mental illness, and I find it unconsionable that the US government chooses to ignore the studies that have been done that prove how helpful they can be in favor of a hard anti-drug line. Godspeed, Scott, and I mean that sincerely.

    • AntiSocialButterfly says:

Would you please supply some information about successful addiction treatment with hallucinogens? I have read an anecdotal thread on Gawker, but I am genuinely interested in any specific sources you may have. Thanks!

      • swack says:

Me too because I thought at first why would you use a hallucinogen to treat an addiction and wouldn’t it be counterproductive? But then again I don’t know how hallucinogens work.

      • Shannon says:

As a counselor who works in a harm reduction setting with predominantly opiate dependent IV users (heroin mostly), hallucinogenics such as Ibogaine and ayahuasca are gaining a lot of traction and I’m ecstatic they’re finally being recognized. Giovanna Valles, the sister of French PM Manuel Valles, credits ayahuasca with helping her come off heroin and talks about it in her book “Afferada a la Vida”. Unfortunately, the research supporting hallucinogenics like Ibogaine and ayahuasca is difficult to come by due to it’s schedule in the US. But there is a Global Ayahuasca Conference that was recently held in Spain and at the National Harm Reduction Conference I presented at this past year there was a huge group of advocates discussing both – and the majority of attendees were physicians. If you check out “DMT: The Spirit Molecule” on Netflix it goes into great depth on the research that has been done by Dr. Rick Strassman and it’s absolutely worth the watch to see what he did and the politics behind these “drugs”. They are getting a bad rap though as there are a lot of “shamans” in central America peddling these plants to tourists and not monitoring them properly, or taking advantage of them while they’re under the influence. These types of hallucinogenics are NOT to be used unless the person is under proper care. The clients I have who have used them describe life changing revelations, a sense of “feeling connected to something bigger” or realizing they are here for a reason. Many substance users report feeling a total detachment to their former self, feeling so low they can never get up, or are so traumatized from life they feel completely hopeless. If the crux of AA or NA is finding a “higher power”, how beautiful for people to be able to take these chemicals and find the higher power within themselves. I would LOVE to go to a center to take ayahuasca to experience a fraction of what some people have reported to me. But again, it must be given under proper supervision. Don’t ever do the tourism to Peru or other villages. Not because it’s inherently bad to do so, but because there are a lot of reports of people being taken advantage of. Check out the documentary for sure.

  9. smcollins says:

He also needs to find himself a new line of “work.” If he is truly committed to being, and more importantly STAYING, sober then he needs to stop with these hosting gigs at nightclubs. Doesn’t really go hand-in-hand with a clean & sober life (for a recovering alcoholic, that is).

    • Pandy says:

Absolutely. Can’t believe I’m commenting on this loser though. But seriously, hanging out in clubs = sobriety problems. Duh.

  10. QQ says:

Doesn’t he do this after every bender?? Either way Ive hear Ibogaine is a big big deal and that it makes you confront all types of deep seated issues so I wonder if this also makes him kick his kardashian habit to the curb

    • AntiSocialButterfly says:

QQ, that would probably be the very best thing he could do for himself.

  11. Kait says:

On K and K Hamptons, Scott was going to AA and Kourtney asked him if he thought he was done being an alcoholic. Scott said he would always be an alcoholic but he was trying to find a way to stay sober long term.

I thought it was awesome that they left that in the show. Hopefully his struggle will encourage others to either not start drinking or get help early if they do.

  12. Tig says:

I continue to be amazed that Kourtney had a third child with this guy- will never understand that. His issues are his own, clearly- but that relationship has never made sense to me. Totally agree with previous posters- he needs to find a new way to make a living- and that inc getting off that show. Otherwise, he’ll be played for shock value forever.

    • snowflake says:

i don’t get it either. she says she won’t marry him but what’s the difference if she’s having kid after kid with him? same as being married. not that she should marry him, just saying. i’m sure he’s always leaving to go to some party, leaving her alone with the kids. she’s rich, she has help, to me it would be like another kid to watch.

      • Thinker says:

Marrying an addict is not the way to create stability or safety in your life. She loves him, not all his behavior. Some of which is deservingly questionable. Marriage, with joint finances and all, not a smart move since she probably has more money to lose on Scott having an extended bender, than he has to share familial expenses.

    • Bridget says:

      Because she’s a d@#k too.

      • evasmom says:

And because she is extremely selfish. She probably doesn’t think she needs his influence or help in raising them anyway since she has been able to amass a fortune. This doesn’t surprise me at all – look at who her mother is.

    • jenn12 says:

I think Kourtney refuses to leave him because she’s scared, so she keeps having kids as a way to fill a hole in her. He’s either scared she will leave him, so he agrees to another kid, or she seduces him when he isn’t sober. He needs a vasectomy. And she needs to realize it’s hurtful to their kids to have a father who’s this messed up and not present for them.

  13. maeliz says:

I honestly wish him the best luck with this problem. I’m not a fan of the show, but he’s the father of 3 kids that love him.

  14. lisa2 says:

I don’t know what man there is that can survive this family. Scott is a father of 3. If he needs help he has the financial means to get it. He needs to go into counseling. Rehab is only a part of the help he obviously needs. I also think he needs to extract himself from the family and show.

    • GingerCrunch says:

Wouldn’t that be great? Think he’s got the cahones to leave that toxicity and just be there for his kids in a healthy way so they don’t end up repeating his behaviors?

  15. Honeybee Blues says:

Blind Gossip is my guilty pleasure, and I saw this yesterday:

This is a first. This TV celebrity is actually being PAID to go to rehab!

So who is paying him? Is his rich extended family footing the bill because they sincerely want to see him get well? No. These people don’t like paying for ANYTHING.

What happened was this new facility just opened its doors to the public a month ago and needed a publicity boost. Who better to give it that boost than a celebrity whose entire circle of acquaintances collects paychecks for just living and breathing and creating drama?

He didn’t simply decide that it was finally time for him to get help. And he certainly wasn’t going to pay tens of thousands of dollars to do so at some obscure facility that no one has ever heard of. So he cut a deal.

This is about story lines and ratings and money. He is the subject of a story line (which has you sympathizing with a female member of the cast). He creates a little more drama just as the new TV season begins for a little ratings boost. And, he gets a free stay in rehab, plus cash incentives for each mention of the facility in the future.

    • Dońt kill me i'm french says:

BlindGossip just wrote what I thought. All is fake and money in this family

    • Jamie says:

I know the family that owns the facility and they’ve been openly bragging about gettingn him there and the family just was touching the place up per his specifications to prepare for his arrival. This was months in the making.

      • GingerCrunch says:

That’s pretty disgusting. Don’t know why I’m surprised.

      • Lexie says:

Wow. Again I’m surprised at myself that I am surprised at the lows to which this family will sink.

It’s my own personal Surprise Inception

    • jenn12 says:

Not surprised to read this. Reality shows are such a joke, and people believe the drama.

      • Sassy says:

So – could his “alcoholism” be nothing more than good acting on his part?

      • jenn12 says:

I honestly don’t know. I don’t watch the show or follow them, except posts here and sometimes another blog. Either it’s being exploited, or no one really thinks he has a problem and are in denial, or it’s acting. I don’t believe reality shows. They set everything up and have storylines.

  16. snowflake says:

I feel bad for Scott. Yes, he’s rich and a brat, but it’s clear he has a serious drinking problem. I don’t think he’s going just for publicity. It takes a lot of people with a serious problem several attempts at rehab. it must be so hard, losing both parents in one year. i hope he gets the rehab and counseling he needs.

  17. Scott will Never be happy until he leaves the Klan, because he deep-down knows that he is a douche sperm donater to a koven that will always have the upper hand. He can’t respect himself, if Kourtney loves him, she will go with.

  18. FingerBinger says:

I need a vacation. Rehab in Costa Rica sounds wonderful.

  19. Jamie says:

They’ve been prepping for his return to this rehab for awhile. The owners were visiting last month to nail down the details and stuff.

  20. Velvet Elvis says:

When your job is actualy being paid to party…kinda hard to maintain your sobriety, you know. Plus he keeps going to rehab and never sees it all the way through. I feel sorry for Scott. He’s the only member of the K Klan that I really like. Kourtney treats him like she’s his mother instead of his partner. Nothing he does is ever good enough. Alcohol is his escape. Hell if I had to deal with that coven of witches I’d drink too.

    • Bridget says:

As long as he keeps doing those club gigs he will never get sober. The whole draw for club promoters to hire him is that they (and he) knows he’ll put on a show for them. More than anyone on that show, Scott seems the best at playing his role, but there’s no way that this doesn’t also affect his real life.

  21. nikko says:

Scott has always party hard. Look at some of the old Kardashian shows. He’s over the top now, due to his parents death and the fact that Kourtney keeps getting pregnant. I don’t think he plan on having children this soon in his life. Remember, he’s younger then Kourtney.

  22. Size Does Matter says:

I don’t watch the show, so the only time I’ve seen Scott is through stories on this site. He always looks sad to me.

  23. learn more says:

Rehab clinics teach these techniques during individual counseling sessions.
To a lot people, throwing up after a drinking spree is not
considered alcohol abuse. During my stay at the rehab centre
I found all these procedures very useful. The determination of the medication,
treatment and period is done and administered strictly by the authorities.
There are special programs for alcohol treatment which
is known as the alcohol rehab program. Some people are worried that their friends or family members are into
drug use. This form of recovery has a 3-5% success rate, for
obvious reasons. The main purpose of these initial evaluations
is to resolve the amounts of toxic substances within patients’ bodies.

Also, once the person has come out of his addiction, the facilities have certain programs like special courses to prevent a relapse, courses in life skills and various other kinds of social activities which helps the previously addicted person to find a
new meaning in life and to ease any pressure
that he might face in his life after the rehab. Outpatient treatment still involves the evidence-based therapies of inpatient and partial hospitalization programs.
