Jennifer Love Hewitt: ‘I know how hard it is for lots of women to even get pregnant’

hewittamericanbaby
Did you remember that Jennifer Love Hewitt, 36, is pregnant with her second child? I did not until I saw recent paparazzi photos of her last week, below. Other than that Hewitt has laid surprisingly low, especially since she had her daughter, Autumn James, in late 2013. I haven’t seen one photo of the baby (apart from stroller pics where you can’t see her face) and Hewitt hasn’t posted any photos to social media of Autumn that I can find. (If I’m wrong please let me know.) I would have never pinned Hewitt for the private type, but she hasn’t revealed her baby’s face and she hasn’t made a public point of shielding her child’s identity either. We similarly didn’t see any photos of her wedding with Brian Hallisay, and we didn’t hear that she was married until after the fact.

Hewitt covers the upcoming American Baby magazine. Doesn’t she look just like Kelly Preston on the cover? They have a video interview with Hewitt, which reminds me of the reasons I like her. Hewitt is always so friendly and perky, and she’s wanted a husband and babies forever, so it’s nice to see it happening for her. She’s super enthusiastic about it too. Here’s some of what she told American Baby, and you can see the interview on Parents.com.

She likes being pregnant
I kind of feel my best when I’m pregnant, which means I should probably have 18 children. It won’t happen. But I do feel good.

On being pregnant again
I think I feel really grateful. I know how hard it is for lots of women to even get pregnant in the first place, some people never get to have kids, so I just feel really lucky that my husband and I have been able to do this… now twice… so I do feel happy.

On her pregnancy cravings and diet
Pickles for me this time have actually been a thing and they’ve been making fun of me at work… Italian food, which I kind of like anyway. You know, cake, hotdogs, you name it really.

On if her daughter knows she’s pregnant
I don’t know what she thinks of the belly. I’m not sure if she just thinks I’m fat… or if she knows that there’s something in there, but she’s very sweet. Every morning and night she’ll sort of rub my belly and she likes to kiss the belly.

Again, she really likes being pregnant
Just the feeling of it, I mean, it’s really cool… As somebody who’s been in this business for a long time and had to sort of be all about… what’s your figure look like, your regimen… I think if you can just sorta let that stuff go and really embrace what you’re doing, you feel kind of awesome.

[From video on Parents.com via Huffington Post]

I’ll have to see what the print interview is like but in the the video she didn’t say anything highly quotable. It’s nice hear how grateful she is to be pregnant, and to see how happy she is. Hewitt waited a long time to find the right guy, and she had a lot of high profile attempts. She knows she’s lucky and she’ll tell you about it without pimping out her kid.

Oh and in terms of the editorial, it’s cheesy but it kind of shows her personality perfectly. She’s sunny and enthusiastic. I could do without the belly baring pic though. You can see more photos here.

I like her makeup on the cover shot better. It seems like she loves to go HARD with the eyeliner. But she’s friendly and un-judgy, it’s nice to see her happy.

They do total raccoon eyes on her on Criminal Minds and it looks terrible, so ageing. Then again her character on that show is pretty terrible (boring, bland and she only has one look: concerned face) so eh.

She seems like a nice person though so I’m glad all her ducks have finally lined up.

I always felt my best when I was pregnant, too! Just really healthy and glowing! A lot of my friends had morning sickness, feet swelling, the whole nine yards, and they all hated me, because I didn’t have any of that…..just pure joy! I was lucky!

    • Francesca says:

You were lucky. I utterly loathed being prgenant.

      • Audrey says:

Same. I was so uncomfortable. I’m short and it got to the point where i couldn’t sit normal and breathe right.

Never again. Happy with just our daughter

I’m right there with you, Francesca. I loved that I was having a baby, but I did not enjoy being pregnant. At all.

    • veronica says:

I loved being pregnant too. I was lucky to never throw up, no swelling until the end and I just felt awesome. It was a really freeing time where I completely embraced my body and I haven’t felt that good before. I can’t wait to do it again!

I’m glad she’s happy and having easy pregnancies.

I remember going to the hospital to pick up mother after my brother was born. I was just five, so for a significant part of my life, she had a big tummy. I didn’t recognize her when they wheeled her out and she was skinny again.

  4. Crumpet says:

I’m really happy for her. She had to kiss a lot of toads before she found Brian, but she did it the right way: No babies until she was in a solid committed relationship.

  5. Naddie says:

That’s cool, man. I think women who enjoy being pregnant and motherhood are strong beings, because I wouldn’t handle none.

  6. GingerCrunch says:

It’s refreshing to see a B-lister trying to give her kids some privacy! Props to her.

    I miss Ghost Whisperer.

  8. Dash says:

Does anyone remember that in the 90s we were encouraged by the teen mags to refer to her as “Love Hewitt” as though she was dropping Jennifer. I wonder what happened to that.

    • jaye says:

I think she’s called Love in her personal life.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I think I remember her name was Love when she was on Kids Incorporated…not that I watched it, everyday, immediately after getting off the school bus. 😉

Glad it’s all worked out for her and she’s happy! She was so desperate to get married there for a while, but she seems to be doing well. And kudos to her for letting her kids have some privacy.

  10. Cupcake says:

I’m happy for her! Her enjoyment of her pregnancy is adorable 🙂

I love being pregnant too, I get it. Don’t get me wrong, there were definitely some rough physical symptoms, but my mental health was awesome. I felt so grounded while pregnant.

I loved being pregnant too. Just heartburn other than that- I finally had some boobs, my hair was thicker- just felt really great.

  12. drea says:

    She’s sweet I’m happy for her 🐸

It’s so nice to see so many positive comments about her. I see a lot of them calling her a ‘try-hard’ or attention seeker. I don’t get that from her at all. She seems genuinely nice, cheerful, generous and professional. She’s cute too! She was really terrific in party of five, as well. She always made me cry the most!
She looks so good with this second pregnancy!

(It’s also nice to see her have children and a husband of her own after her mom passed away a few years ago .. they were apparently quite close)
