Here is what I hope will be the last Cannes amfAR gala fashion post! There were more people than I was expecting, but I was right about it being so model-heavy. Sigh… I like seeing what models are wearing, but I would have loved it if more movie stars came out for this year’s amfAR gala. And since Cannes is coming to an end this weekend, this is probably my last Cannes post this year with Aishwarya Rai as the lead lady. I love her! She wore this lilac Elie Saab. Beautiful color, completely mundane design. Still, I’m glad that the gown doesn’t actively distract from her face.
We finally got to see Diane Kruger in Chanel this week, although Joshua Jackson is still MIA. I’m worried, you guys. What if they’re having problems?! Anyway, I dislike this Chanel on Diane, but whatever.
Isabella Rossellini. She is everything. Bow down!
Petra Nemcova in Versace. This is her best look so far at Cannes, but that’s mostly because she’s finally covered up.
Toni Garrn in colorful Elie Saab – I’ll give her this, this gown stood out. Too bad it was on such a bland model!
Adrien Brody and his long-time girlfriend Lara Lieto. I really can’t with them. But her dress IS rather nice.
Eva Longoria in Georges Hobeika. She’s worn versions of this dress a million times. She’s in such a style rut!
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton. She’s one of the brand ambassadors for LV. Do you think this is a good association? Meh.
Michael Fassbender was apparently one of the co-sponsors of this gala. It’s a shame he didn’t walk the carpet then, you know?

I follow Diane Krueger on Instagram and she posted something about missing her man. I think she has been working and traveling a great deal. FWIW, I think they are fine.
Eva Longoria’s expression is killing me. It’s like she was awoken from her beauty rest, in her fanciest nightie, when a group of kids made a racket TP-ing the tree on the front lawn.

All I can see… is that the “nude” lipstick.
All that work on her face… and no lip color.
I know I harp about this, but nude lipstick is not anyone’s friend. A little lip tint, is a good thing. You don’t have to wear a bold lip color. But it is amazing what a little lip tint can do for your over all appearance.
Especially on a red carpet. In a ten thousand dollar dress…. with a face full of MAC.
She looks sickly. It’s amazing; all it would have taken is a bit of color…instead, it’s Night of the Living Dead.
Adrien Brody’s girlfriend’s gown is stunning on her. That’s how I would want to look on the red carpet there.
Diane, no, just no. Horrific.
Petra redeemed herself. She looked lovely in that gown.
Aishwarya, the color is really beautiful on her. The gown is just so-so. Maybe in person it’s more stunning on her. I don’t know. But it translated just okay in a still photo.
Eva’s hair and makeup a mess. The gown looks like a nightgown and/or matching robe my mother used to have when I was a small child and used to play dress-up in and it was that color . She’s so petite that I always feel fitted gowns are more flattering on her.
I loved that Elie Saab gown, but it did need someone like Kate Hudson to truly rock it.
Now we know why Fassy’s been so absent on the red carpets. He’s been in his hotel room with Alicia Vikander, wrecking her sweetshop!
She has such a lovely face. Did anyone see Ex Machina? So-so film, but she was excellent.
I LOVED Ex Machina, there was nothing so-so about it. Best movie of 2015 so far, after Mad Max.
LOVED Ex Machina, and I though my fave, Domhnall Gleeson, stole the show. Vikander was good enough, I thought. She didn’t stand out as awful, for me, although it’s hard to play a robot-character with a big sense of self, or personality. Her physical movements were good, at least. Love Oscar Isaac too ❤️
While reading some of these sites, I have often wandered if the actors that “hook-up” during or right after filming are with each other because they fall for the actual person (personality) or the character(s) that they were portraying?
Any who … saw a picture of them walking in Cannes and she had a ring on her right hand that looked interesting. Now I am not savvy of where a ring is worn in terms of the culture of the country, but for some reason, if someone has notice you might expect other news.
PS. Is she wearing sandals that are flats after the whole heals -gate? He, he.

Aishwarya’s dress is everything but the dress is boring. Saab’s designs are always the same, I think I’ve this dress in 10000 versions.
Diane’s dress is playful-ugly but I like it on her.
I agree, though the color is gorgeous on her and I bet the detail work was more striking in person.
Yeah the color suits her…but shes so pretty that she can wear everything. I am sure the dress would be more striking in person but I would like to see her in something else. Less princessy and tart-like…

Fassy looks good, after reading AV is one of Harvey’s girls and seeing a tragic video of them walking, I’m definitely leaning towards PR…..

Aishwarya could try a different hairstyle, for maybe one red carpet.
I see that Aishwarya has the same taste as mine: matching eye-shadow with the dress colour. People say it’s old-fashion, but I just love it! Not to mention that lilac is a beautiful colour itself.
Diane is practicing some dress-trolling, it seems.
Don’t know who’s Petra, but her smile is everything , no need for clothers.

There are issues. Either the skirt is too full or the bodice is too short… or maybe the dress was meant to be worn with flats. The balance is off. I am not even going to think any further about those odd flower/star suspender things.
Maybe it was intended for someone 6ft tall and 98 lbs. Even then I doubt it looked like it was made to worn by a human.
Isabella Rossellini. Just divine. Such a happy face. Wears clothes with ease. And has not destroyed her face with needles.
Worst dress of Cannes! Diane Kruger’s Chanel is the worst of the worst. That collection of “Heidi and Peter” clothes last winter from Unkle Karl just set my teeth on edge. This monstrosity looks like it withered and died on the vine, was snatched up and run through the Muppets workshop and slapped on La Kruger without tailoring or steaming. Tyrolean chic was not a good idea. Lord, what a sad outfit.
