Is Calvin Harris babysitting Taylor Swift’s cats while she’s on tour?

Here are some photos of Calvin Harris at last night’s Glamour UK Women of the Year event in London. Calvin ended up winning Glamour’s Man of the Year Award, which was a pretty obvious choice. I assume that Glamour contacted Calvin ahead of time and that’s why he came out. But Calvin still played it cool on Instagram, writing: “I won Man of the Year which is unexpected.” Hilariously, Calvin’s ex-girlfriend Rita Ora also won an award but she must have gotten a heads up that Calvin would be attending, so Rita got the hell out of dodge.

Meanwhile, you know how the tabloids claimed that Calvin was allergic to Taylor Swift’s Scottish fold kitties Meredith and Olivia? Well, now sources claim that Calvin loves his furry step-daughters so much, he’s volunteered to look after them while Swifty is on tour. Aw.

Scottish singer-DJ Calvin Harris is reportedly babysitting American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s cats. According to a report in Hollywood Life, the 31-year-old I Need Your Love singer will be taking care of the 25-year-old Shake It Off singer’s cats, Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson, while she travels the world for her 1989 tour.

“Add cat babysitter to Calvin’s duties as boyfriend,” a source said. “He brought it up to Taylor that he would be happy to watch her cats while she is away, so she took him up on it. So you will probably see Calvin in New York a lot more without her.”

As for the engagement rumors, “Taylor is in love with him, she has had it cross her mind but she knows not to bring it up, she is enjoying how the relationship is going without getting into anything marriage-related,” another source told the website.

I would love it if it’s true. I think Calvin has a pretty busy schedule too, so it’s not like he has all this free time to spend with his step-fur-babies. Still, I bet he’s enjoying them. Some men think they aren’t into cats and then they get a girlfriend with cats and suddenly, they are cat people. If Calvin starts buying little outfits for Meredith and Olivia, then we know this love is real.

The PR team is really shooting for the original kitten demographic here. She’s gonna go nuts, plus trippin’, some grapefruity beers and a can of Boston Baked beans.

    • Kitten says:

Did you read my thought-provoking analysis of Olivia & Meredith’s contentious relationship below?

      • Kiddo says:

Yes, I’m beginning to wonder if they recruited you for the marketing. You do a more convincing and compelling job.

      • Kitten says:

I had terrible dreams that my kitties got loose and were being chased by wild coyotes last night. That’s what I get for late night pot-smoking and Catstagramming.

  2. Kitten says:

I always feel bad for Meredith. I know I might be projecting but when I got my second kitty, my older kitty went through a really hard adjustment. It seems like baby Olivia gets more attention than Meredith, which is understandable because the younger ones need more attention.

From the photos I’ve seen, they don’t seem to hate each other, but they don’t seem to love each other either…hmmmm…
I also see some simmering resentment from Meredith in this photo-she’s hanging back and letting Olivia take center stage. Most kitties don’t like being put on the back burner. Then again, maybe Meredith is a shrinking violet type who enjoys staying in the shadows. However, I think Olivia should share the attention with Meredith as she is the more senior cat.

And no, I don’t feel weird about analyzing the relationship dynamics between Taylor Swift’s cats.
Catscatscatscats, all day, every day. Caaaats!

This is why I’m reluctant to get a second cat. Every now and then I worry that mine gets lonely, but she generally seems pretty content with life and I’m afraid that adding another cat could make her less happy. But if I commit to another cat, I wouldn’t feel right getting rid of it (barring major issues), which would mean my cat having to spend the rest of her life with the interloper.

      • Kitten says:

Oh I feel you so much– that was a huge fear of mine before I got my second cat and I have to admit that I did have a moment of regret after I got the kitten. My senior kitty went through SUCH a terrible time (I mean, worst case scenario sh*t) and it seemed like she would never adjust. I really felt like I had ruined her life, but a year and a half later, they’re frenemies. They co-exist, they can bear to sit on the same bed now and they occasionally touch noses.

The problem with cats is that…well, they’re insane. And unpredictable. Getting a second one is a total roll of the dice. They could either be mortal enemies, or best friends and there’s no predicting which way it will go.

      • Valois says:

It might differ from country to country, but getting a second cat is what every expert recomments over here. You won’t even get a cat from an animal shelter if you don’t have/plan to get a second one 🙂

      • Kitten says:

Really, Valois? Wow. Can I ask what country you live in?

      • Ange says:

I was reluctant too but in our case it worked out really well. They aren’t besties yet but in 7 weeks we’ve progressed from wariness to play fighting to snuggling next to each other on the couch. The kitten will even shove his head under the older cat’s chin for grooming, ears back out of the way and thunderously purring. I think it’s given my older cat a lot more to do with her day plus I got to save another life.

BUT a lot of our success is because I knew the older cat is a generally chill cat and she actually likes other cats. She went to a boarding kennel recently and she and this other cat played together so much during free time the kennel decided to room them together. If your cat is content on their own and perhaps a bit high strung it may not work, you know your cat better than anyone. After all, they really just sleep all day if you’re not around and if you give them some good attention and play when you are at home that could be enough for them. If you do go ahead with it just ensure to follow proper introduction guidelines and you’ll make life a lot easier on yourself.

I love this SO MUCH. CATS 4EVA!!!!!

Lucky guy!! Those cats are so sweet. We have 3 cats and while the friendliest overall is the boy our younger girl cat religiously snuggles beside my husband all night. Man stealing trick 🙂
I like T Swift’s cat lover side, not to be confused with her catty side. I can forgive her most things except the “special place in hell” comment.

  4. Franca says:

For the love of God, stop with them and the cats. It’s like reading about a middle school relationship.

    • Allie says:

Yessss, thank you. Although they’ve been very public with their relationship, I find them to have no chemistry. Probably because they are both so dull, no matter what their egos tell them otherwise. This is just an image for her next album.

    • JenB says:

There’s a lot if T Swift press that could be fall under “middle school relationship” category!

    • Franca says:

Also, he seems to have really short legs for such a tall guy.
I liked him better when he was weirder.

    • susiecue says:

I think it’s written with a wink. Just something to giggle at for all the cat lovers out there!

      >>>>>>>CATS<<<<<<<<<

    • Kath says:

I totally disagree. Reading about a guy offering to look after his girlfriend’s pets was a total palate cleanser after the two Duggar stories. Ugh.

      More kitty stories please!

My (now) husband didn’t like cats before we moved in together. He grew up in a non pet household and his mother ingrained in him cats are dirty but now he is a bigger cat lady than I am! We went from my original 2 to 4 after we bought a house and he jokes if we ever divorce he will fight me for kitty custody.
