The Tony Awards were held last night and CBS is really trying to make the Tonys into, like, the Oscars of the theater world. The Tonys already are the Oscars of the theater world, but what I mean is that there’s an effort underway to make the Tonys into a major fashion event, with big-name celebrities in attendance. The message seems to be that regular old theater stars are not enough. You can see the list of this year’s Tony Award winners here. We’re just going to be talking about fashion in our coverage.
Jennifer Lopez was one of the biggest names at the Tonys. She wore this Maison Valentino Spring 2015 Couture gown with a starburst theme. We’ve already seen some of the Valentino gowns with the star theme (at Cannes), but I really like this. I’m glad she’s not wearing some body-con Zuhair Murad gown LIKE ALWAYS. But I do have to laugh at her styling – poor J.Lo. She’s always pissing off her hair and makeup people and you can tell.
Ashley Greene in Jason Wu. I have no idea why she was there or why her date was Jason Wu. This is not Wu’s best design either.
Rose Byrne in Delpozo. Rose was one of my picks for worst dressed. Such a terrible thing to do to such a pretty woman!
Vanessa Hudgens in Naeem Khan. Honestly, even though it was over the top, I really liked this. It was theater, it was drama! Good for her.
Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga. She’s obviously knocked up, so I don’t know why we should even pretend to not notice it when she’s wearing an ugly tube.
Ivanka Trump in Prabal Gurung. Honestly, this was one of my favorite looks of the night.
And finally, Kat Dennings and Josh Groban. I hope these two get married, they’re really sweet together!

She looks gorgeous – both her hair and her makeup are very flattering, yet different for her. I like it.
Yeah… this is J.Lo we’re talking about. You haven’t seen many of her pics if you think THIS is poorly styled. Anything other than a vajazzled pantyhose is great in my opinion.
I like it, but the corset gave her side-boob shelf. Could have been tailored better.
I really like that she’s branching out from her normal nude-pinkey princess gowns. I also think the way her hair is styled and the color look absolutely stunning on her! Also her lipstick is a big change, and I like that 2nd picture of her where she seems to have a genuine, shy smile instead of her “sexy – opened mouth” thing that she always does!
Rose Byrne is always stunning. What a beautiful lady. But I always thing the big, exposed zipper thing always looks cheap.

FINALLY! I have been waiting for a Tony fashion post!! Agree with JLo- love the dress, but hair and make up were off. Sutton Foster dress was horrific. So happy to see Kelli get here well deserved Tony- but didn’t like the length of her gown. Too funny to see Debra Messing and Anna C present together wearing essentially the same dress- someone must have missed a memo!! But they handled it fine. Everyone knew Helen Mirren would win, inc her, so wish she had upped her gown game.
I was thinking, by the looks they gave each other, that the similar dress thing was planned..? Everyone looked pretty good except rose b..looked like retro call girl
They really are trying to make the Tony’s a big event. I hoped they were better than that, inviting some of these people. Next we’ll see the Blurred Lines lady at the Nobel Prize Banquet.

Agree with Kelly, plus I thought her bit on the Tonys was very cringeworthy when it clearly shouldn’t have been…….
I think now these award shows, appreciate there is an exclusivity to the work but are also wary of, in the words of one critic, “esoteric-ing themselves out of relevance”.
I like the stars on J.Lo’s dress, but don’t think that’s the best color for her. I wish she classed it up more!
I think Carey Mulligan may have more than a baby bump in her dress…maybe a small person, a bag carrier… there’s certainly room.
There is something so incredibly appealing about Carey’s face. I find her so beautiful and love her look here.
I feel the same way, but with Vanessa Hudgens’s face. Just catches my eye everytime.
I like Carey Mulligan’s looks as well. I don’t know what it is, but whatever is special about her face reminds me of Emily Watson and Helena Boham, I am not sure why.

There is a vintage Madonna look about her makeup. Somewhere about the Material Girls time.
LOL I know, I can’t figure out why some are ignoring JLO’s very obvious Botox to the point where her face has no expression anymore. Her forehead has a big dent on the right side too at the hairline, like she had an injection and it’s still settling.
The NYPost had a blurb in one of their columns that JLO had a facelift and major work, all nicely done of course.
That said she’s still very beautiful but I totally see work on her face.
JLO looks super weird. She looks young/old and barely recognizable. I do like the hair, but what should be “fresh” just looks frumpy.

Love the direction JLo is taking here, but yep her hair and makeup crews aren’t doing her any favors! I like the hair length, I like the more stately dress, if only her boobs weren’t squeezed and bobbing over.
Rose Byrne is stunning and I love her with Bobby C, but, this dress is quite unfortunate. I don’t get the trend of a wide deep plunging V and major cleavage — not flattering on anyone. I can’t imagine the amount of boob tape involved.
Vanessa is absolutely GLOWING! She looks so happy in all of the street photos since she started the Gigi gig. She looks comfortable in this gown, which is so feminine, flirty, so fun. And, I believe it has a BUSTLE!
So her and Bobby C. are an official thing?? He is so attractive. Hope he’s not a jerk.

The blue gown is a nice change up for her. I am tired of all the naked glitter gowns.
And her hair is her own. No wigs. And she does have a high fore head. So the oddity of her side bangs, is from that. But she gets points, for deciding to go with her natural hair.
I also love that dress that Vanessa is wearing. That is a great halter dress. And it is a great Summer dress.
I do not understand why more ladies don’t pick pretty Summer gowns. Instead of the heavy looking Winter gowns. When we know how hot and muggy it is outside.
Jennifer is so botoxed and pulled her face never moves anymore.

Ashley Greene’s dress looks like lizard vomit. That’s all I got.
JLo needs to decide if she’s going to play up eyes or lips- the smokey plum eyes versus the red lips= Face looks like a bruise.

No one with any sense thinks she and Ben are involved. He was crazy for her in the beginning. By the end he was with a stripper. Then called off the wedding five days before. They stayed together a few months after so as n ot to humiliate J-LO but he barely saw her, hoping she would just end it. She didn’t until he refused to come to her big New Year’s Eve bash. Humiliated she cancelled the party and they announced they had split for good. That ship has sailed. Jennifer and her entourage and high maintenance aren’t a turn on for him. If you see Ben having an affair and leaving his marriage, it will be with some “new” thing that he has developed a mad crush on and everything is new and fresh and rosy and they are amazing because they are all new to him and probably a much younger woman than him.

Vanessa is the best one. Jennifer Lopez looks stubby in this dress, specially the upper part of her body (still, a better look than her usual naked looks).

There was a story on GMA this morning about JLo being charged with something like public indecency in Morocco after a recent concert . Her moves were too salacious If convicted she could face up to two years in prison. Obviously, that would never happen, but just an interesting sidenote.

I’ve wished for a long time Jennifer would go back to her earlier days as far as looks. No fake tan and dark hair. I thought she was stunning. It’s nice to see her at the Tonys lookinig different. Although, I’m not a big fan of the hair..
Every once in a while she goes dark for a hot minute and less of that fake tan, and then it’s back to that blondish hair with that orange tan. I loved this shorter hair look with a warmer, richer brown color as far as her hair.

JLo’s dress is one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen, but I wish it was on Rose, Carey or even Vanessa. It just doesn’t suit her look IMO.

Love the dress – it reminds me of a Sun Moon & Stars perfume bottle from the ’90s – just not on her. She looks sort of billowing in it, like she’s ready to climb up onto the pointy end of a ship. Vanessa ‘s gown is stunning.
I love this look on Jennifer Lopez. It’s a beautiful classy dress and it’s still sexy around her bosom. I like the new hair style too. Maybe a little longer? I agree the make up needs to be a little lighter but over all this is a great look for her. Now I hope it attracts men her own age! LOL
