Tom Hiddleston has been the face and sex-voice of Jaguar for more than a year. Tommy is part of Jaguar’s Good To Be Bad campaign, featuring several British actors known for playing villains, like Tommy, Mark Strong and Ben Kingsley. I guess Mark and Ben’s contracts were not renewed though, because in the newest commercial for Jaguar, they just got Tom and Nicholas Hoult (Bedhead’s boyfriend!). The premise seems to be that Tommy “killed” Mark Strong and Sir Ben and now Lord Dragonfly is in charge of Jaguar’s Villain Unit. And Nicholas Hoult is little helper monkey. The slash fiction just writes itself.
My thoughts… while Mark Strong’s presence in the previous ads gave some manly depth, I think Jaguar probably made the right call to just do Hiddles and Hoult. They are easily two of the cutest young British actors and Jaguar was smart to hire them. Now we just need to see them in the same room while Hiddles whispers directives into Hoult’s ear.
Also: do you think Hiddles was actually interacting with a live jaguar? There were so many shots of his hands petting the kitty, I think maybe?

As for the beautiful black kitty–the bts video never showed more than a hand and arm in front of the green screen with the beast, so I’m thinking it was the trainer only (sadly).
My husband Tom looks exquisitely sexy in those Night Manager pictures and no, those aren’t his hands with the Jaguar.
This jag advert does nothing for me, it’s too cheesy.
But the pap photos out of Mallorca are very very scorchio… I drooled all over the computer. I will be wiping my smears away for weeks.

Just got around to watching this and agree with P’enny… that ad is CHEESEBALLS! It gave me a much needed giggle on what turned out to be a very stressful day.
TNM shoot is going long… almost 3 months. I hope he gets a bit of a break in between this and the next thing. Would be nice if his family flies in and he can go straight into the Mallorca holiday with them.
@Nutballs, the Aldeburgh Music Festival starts next week. He usually puts in an appearance there. Also Jaguar is a Wimbledon sponsor so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pop up at matches.

And at this point “cute” isn’t a word I would apply to Hiddles. I think he’s gone beyond cute at this point – he is after all chasing his mid-thirties. I think he’s finally acquired the gravitas to get out of cute, though Hoult of course is still there. . .
I adore Strong but let’s face it: Hiddles is now the bigger star and if those trailers for “Crimson Peak” and reports of his performance in “I Saw the Light” are anything to go by, within two years I think he’ll be leading the pack.
In the absence of the films and TV show I’m waiting for, the Jaguar ad will have to do.

This ad isn’t new. It has been out for weeks.
It is new, well sort of, it’s extended version for the TV run during the UK footie match, and there is a making of… vid all new since the smaller internet run a few weeks ago. The longer TV version has now been released in France and other countries will follow over the next few months.

Jaguar pulled the “making of” video that was floating around on Twitter last week in which Tom goes on about following Hooper’s directions, being proud to represent Jaguar, and how his character took out Kingsley’s character. But no mention of working with the cat.

This version that they ‘premiered’ on UK TV is a full minute, the version that has been floating around (I think it was on an ArabSat channel?) was only 30 seconds or so. The extra few lines actually DO improve it.

I really hate that suit, everyone who chats with me knows how passionately I hate that old-man suit. The Hopper ads are just over the top for me. The Mark Jenkinson directed ad for the American market, which was banned in the UK was pure class. I hope he gets chance to shoot another one, just for moi. Tom looked classy, sexy and pure him. Hopper just turns him into a James Bond villain. I don’t like that.
What I do like about the new advert is the Jaguar-Kitty, the panther is just beautiful. btw I don’t believe for one minute that Tom would have been allowed to get his precious long fingers anywhere near that pussy for insurance purposes. Which is a real shame.
I’m fine with the fantasy, but yeah.
Wrangling animals for photo shoots is a very hinky process, and I think the insurance would prohibit anyone who was not a trained handler from handling the creature. I doubt that the kitty was even on set.

As I noted in my previous comment the (since-pulled) behind the scenes vid shows only a hand giving big kitteh a meat bow-tie (seriously!) in front of a green screen. I think they were VERY careful not to stress the kitteh.
I actually like the suit but it fit him better in the first one. I wonder when this was filmed because he looks ISTL level gaunt. I agree about the different approach to the character by the directors. Hopper seems to be going for a cartoonish over-the-top maniac. I prefered the calm, Shakespeare reciting villain in the second one. But they’re all fun to watch.
No way we’re they putting that magnificent animal close to that magnificent man. The insurance costs would be astronomical.
