I actually love these pants… plus Thai fisherman pants as well. Popular opinion, I know. But I truly do.
Not only are they literally cooler than normally-cut trousers and a sort of ‘modest blessing’ alternative to unflattering shorts or boho street fair skirts, but it’s fun to play with proportion & accessories that make them work. Although I’d have the hem reach her ankle and lose the heavy bag, I think she did the drop belt, slanted drooped shirt, tank scoop neck and light fabric just right & pulled it off.
I love these pants as well. I just bought a pair and I surprisingly get compliments. I figure most people don’t like the look and are sometimes vocal about that, but I don’t care. I love them and I know I wear them well.

The pants work on Gwen bc she’s maybe 105 lbs (soaking wet with a brick in each hand). On a curvy gal that wouldn’t work–I’d look like I’d wrapped myself in two large kitchen bags.

You’re never too old to have fun with clothes. I don’t like it when people are labelled and judged because they’re wearing something deemed by society to be “too old” for them. I say go for it and wear whatever the heck you want no matter your age.
I agree Penelope, she gets a pass because she’s in Hollywood. But most women in their 40s would never try to dress like this. There are many other fun things to wear, you don’t have to look like this.
She’s in a creative field so I feel compelled to cut her some slack. She’s not a 46 year old investment banker heading to the office so it’s hard to criticize I guess.
