If I’m being completely honest, Charlie Hunnam has never been my go-to crush. I think he’s perfectly attractive/beautiful/sexy, but my crushes were always Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy. But I might have to give Charlie a thorough double-take because OMG!!!!!!! Charlie covers the new issue of Entertainment Weekly to do a “first look” at Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur movie. Ritchie says about Hunnam and the project:
“I think where the pitfall has often been is trying to make King Arthur bland and nice, and nice and bland. The two qualities make rather compatible bed companions. Unfortunately, they’re not interesting to watch. Luke Skywalker was always the most uninteresting character in Star Wars because he’s the good guy. Good guys are boring.”
I fundamentally disagree that good guys are boring, but I’ll also admit that if I saw this dirtied-up Charlie Hunnam on the street, I would jump him. HARD. Charlie tells EW that his Arthur is “a little bit rough around the edges, but he’s basically a survivor. He’s a hustler. He’s a street kid. There’s definitely a harder edge to him than people would imagine. It’s sort of classic Guy Ritchie stuff.” Blah. Just look at the photos.

I think you’re spot on. As much as he tries not to be, he’s shy. My bf of many years has similar qualities to Hunnam and being reserved is one of them. I can parade around, happily uninhibited but depending on his mood, it can take a considerable amount of encouragement before he’ll let his guard down. Cindy’s right- Hunnam knows he’s got it. It’s just a matter of making him feel relaxed enough to share it.

I think the The Mists Of Avalon was the last Camelot related story that I actually found entertaining and interesting. Also, the way he describes Arthur makes me think that it’s basically going to be like every other Ritchie movie except set in a bygone era. Like it’s going to be gangster film with swords instead of guns and it sounds unappealing.
ETA: I also kind of liked the show Merlin.

I just finished binge watching Sons of Anarchy so I’m obsessed with him right now
I love the first 5 seasons. And then Season 6 happens and as a huge Jax/Tara fan and a fan of the show in general, I just lost my faith in it. It was a mess, complete with bloated episodes, WAY TOO many Katy Sagal covers, and just too much violence without any narrative progress. Sutter is a terrible editor and pretty lousy showrunner. When you look at a show like Justified – you realize what a world of difference good writers and a competent showrunner make. The stupid Irish subplot and the gang wars took over the heart of the story – which was about a group of people who knew enough to want better but not enough to actually achieve it. But thank god for the sweet sweet Hunnam Hump.
Killing my boo Opie killed the show for me.
Still binge watching on Netflix. Give me Jax Teller stepping out of the shower over anything on tv any day.

Plus I couldn’t stand his wishy-washy interviews after he dropped out of that 50 Shades movie. It was the right choice but he sounded so…desperate? I can’t put my finger on it.
Really? He’s a nice guy who answered the question when asked. I wish outlets would stop asking him about it b/c it’s clear that he has moved on but considering they bring it up EVERYTIME he is interviewed, there’s no end in sight. He seems like too nice of a guy to actually object and say enough is enough, stop asking me about this ridiculous movie. But I never sensed any desperation about it. He clearly respected the director and everyone involved and didn’t want to say “look man, this movie sucks balls and I didn’t want to suicide bomb my career.”
The only one who is desperate is Jamie Dornan and those insane fans of those awful books.
There’s another interview today where he describes his decision to drop out as “very, very painful”. Give me a break. Look the project was crap and it has done nothing for Jamie whatshisface but maybe a simple word or two about how things worked out for the best would come across as less tiresome. Right now he’s being defined by work he didn’t do and if he can’t shut down the question his people should.
There’s no desperation in Charlie. He knew the project was crap, the author refused to work with him on script changes (he’s also a screenwriter) and he’s too nice to say it was crap. As for how Charlie is defined, he’s defined as Jax Teller for his fans; those who define him by 50SOG don’t know his work.
