Donald Trump tried to creepily woo Princess Diana following her divorce

Here are some rather glorious photos of Donald Trump looking old as dirt AND orange as hell yesterday in NYC. He was called in for jury duty, so I guess that solves the mystery of where Trump is registered to vote: Manhattan. Can you imagine this orange face glowering at you from the jury box? Yikes. And now I’m wondering about his age… Trump is 69 years old. We’ve got a bunch of late-60s and early-70s people running this time around. I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Meanwhile, there are, as always, so many Trump stories already this week. Trump sat down with the NYT’s Maureen Dowd for a profile (of sorts) over the weekend. It’s actually an interesting read because Trump comes across like a guy who was just running for president to stunt-queen and now he’s gotten a taste for it and he’s trying to buckle down. A little. He does say, at one point, “Sometimes I do go a little bit far. Heidi Klum. Sadly, she’s no longer a 10.” WTF? Luckily, Heidi had a great response:

I like Heidi more for the way that she handled that. Incidentally, I was watching a profile of Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, and OMG. She’s beautiful, for sure, but she is… um, how do you say? A dumb golddigger who hit the jackpot. Heidi Klum is WAY better than Melania. Speaking of Donald Trump’s love life and the kind of woman who gets him off (gross), BBC anchor Selina Scott told an interesting story about who Donald Trump wanted to marry before he met Melania: Princess Diana!!!

Diana Trump? Presidential hopeful Donald Trump wanted to woo Princess Diana so that she would one day become his wife, says former British TV anchor Selina Scott. Scott, a longstanding Trump critic and veteran BBC television journalist, says that after Diana and Prince Charles divorced in 1996, Trump sent huge bouquets to the newly single princess’s London home at Kensington Palace.

“Trump clearly saw Diana as the ultimate trophy wife,” Scott, 64, wrote in an Aug. 16 column in the U.K. paper The Sunday Times. “As the roses and orchids piled up at her apartment she became increasingly concerned about what she should do. It had begun to feel as if Trump was stalking her.”

Scott reports that Diana told her of Trump’s approaches over a private dinner. ” ‘What am I going to do?’ she asked. ‘He gives me the creeps.’ ‘Just throw them in the bin,’ I advised. Diana laughed. When she died in the tragic accident in Paris in 1997, Trump told friends his biggest regret was that they hadn’t dated. He said that he always thought he had a chance of romance and would have had a ‘shot’ with he,” Scott says.

In his 1997 book, The Art of the Comeback, Trump wrote: “I only have one regret in the women department – that I never had the opportunity to court Lady Diana Spencer. I met her on a number of occasions. I couldn’t help but notice how she moved people. She lit up the room with her charm, her presence. She was a genuine princess – a dream lady.”

A spokesman for Trump told The Sunday Times, “They had a great relationship, liked each other a lot, but nothing ever came of it.”

[From People]

In the biographies of Diana which I’ve read over the years, Diana was approached by many, many men in the 1990s, once she was officially separated from Charles and especially after her 1996 divorce. For much of that time, she was deeply involved with Hasnat Khan so she wasn’t really looking for extra boyfriends. Or was she? When all is said and done, I have to wonder if Diana should have spent the summer of 1997 with Donald Trump in Miami rather than the South of France with the al Fayed family. Even though Trump is creepy (well-detected, Diana), he would have done a better job protecting her and ensconcing her in a bubble of private luxury. ‘Twas not to be.

Trump would have done a better job at protecting her? What a weird and probably inaccurate statement. He collects things/people. I wouldn’t trust my life in Trump’s hands.

    • Kiddo says:

Yeah, would she have been safe from having patches of her hair ripped out by carrot man?

      • Tate says:

This morning a female friend from high school posted about Trump and she captioned it with something along the lines of…. “I hope America doesn’t miss this opportunity”

What opportunity??? There is not an ounce of substance to him and he has proven time and again that he thinks very little of females. Unreal to me that any woman would consider voting for him.

      • anon3214 says:

Can’t say this site isn’t politically motivated.

      • Kiddo says:

I said ‘zero’ about his politics.

    • Mimz says:

Yeah I also thought that was a strange statement. She died very young, unfortunately, and well, for all we know maybe she was happy at that stage of her life with Al Fayed, and she had been through Charles’ shenanigans with Camille already…while with Trump… I doubt anyone could ever be happy. I’m glad she dodged that crazy man’s approaches.
      So no.

    • LA Juice says:

except from the spousal rape- of course, because you know- according to THE DONALD and his lawyer- its not rape if its your wife…

      This man is so horrific.

  2. JFresh says:

    Omg can you even imagine?

    • Citresse says:

Horrid, but I feel ultimately the British Royals would’ve tolerated a Trump child mothered by Diana. And Trump could’ve provided superior security for Diana.

      • ImFlying says:

No, they wouldn’t. Dianna was chosen for her bloodline.

      • Zigggy says:

I agree with this- I feel the “problem” with Diana was that she was about to have a half-brown half-sibling to the future King, and that was not tolerable to the crown. As messed up as it seems, I think Trump would have been a more suitable jump off (in their eyes).

  3. Bonnie says:

Two words, “Trump” and “Middleton” . Discuss amongst yourselves. Lol

  4. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

As if, you crude orange walking comb over.

  5. NewWester says:

Does anyone actually think Donald could have handled being with Diana, at the time one of the most popular women in the world? He likes being the centre of attention, but Diana would have been much more popular with the public.

  6. Diana says:

“A dumb gold digger who hit the jackpot.” Nailed it as you always do Queen Kaiser 🙂

Seriously cannot believe we live in a world that Donald frikkin Trump could be president.

    • Franca says:

I don’t know anything about Melanija other than she’s from Slovenia. What does/did she do for a living?

    • darkdove says:

It could be like an episode if sliders the outer limits or the twightlite zone somebody from another dimension or world is passing trough or world and is thinking WTF with this world Trump running for president.

    • sa says:

Years ago I heard part on an interview with Melania where she was asked if she would love Donald Trump if he weren’t rich and her response was something along the lines of ‘would he love me if I wasn’t beautiful?’

I thought that was a pretty perfect and on point response to that question. I think they each know what they’re bringing to the relationship.

  7. PHD Gossip says:

    1. he always wears the same tie.
    2. He must have had a ton of plastic surgery because he doesn’t look like he is pushing 70
3 sketchy story how he and Melania met. Similar to the sketchy story how he met Marla Maples (“in church”).

    • doofus says:

I kind of assumed that Melania was a “mail-order bride” or, more colloquially, a hooker who sealed the deal, so to speak.

  8. Lucy2 says:

“They had a great relationship”? Sounds to me like they met, he tried to woo her, and she said “ew no, creepy.”
I don’t think it’s a shock to anyone that his current wife is a Golddigger.

  9. Tate says:

Great response by Heidi Klum. It is amazing to me that one of the most unattractive men out there feels he should speak on the looks of others.

  10. Jules says:

He was married at the time…………..

  11. Jane says:

He would have never respected her. He’s a control freak who have made her life miserable. Thank goodness she found him to be a creep and moved on. It’s sad, though to think she never found long-living happiness as a result of that horrible, horrible car accident.

On a completely different note— The Donald is turning into an Oompa-Loompa with that tan and don’t get me started on his hair. I just can’t…

  12. Dana says:

I remember this crazy interview Trump did with Howard Stern back in the late 90s/early 2000’s.

Howard asked him about this & Trump reiterated that not dating her was his biggest regret and said she was nearly a 10 (this is the only time I’ve heard him use his obligatory rating impulse w/o the intention to insult)

Then Trump said that when he meets a woman he wants to date, she first has to go to a doctor of his choosing and get tested for HIV. Then she has to sign away her rights to confidentiality and agree to release the test results to him. If she tests negative for STDs, then he will bestow upon the lucky lady the privilege of going on a date with him.

Howard asked him if he thought Diana would have agreed to do this and Trump was like, “Hmmm, yeah, that would have been a tough thing to pull off, I’d have to handle that discussion very carefully”

    • Christin says:

Good grief. I had heard long ago that he wanted to date her, but not what he said in the Stern interview.

  13. SarahUK says:

That last photo of Trump is rather unfortunate… I assume he’s waving, but got snapped in the ‘nazi salute’ position!

    Love Heidi’s reply! 🙂

  14. JudyK says:

His arrogance knows no boundaries…find it laughable he’d think he ever could have had a chance with Princess Diana.

Also find it laughable that he had the arrogance to say that it was too bad Heidi Klum was no longer a 10…Trump, you aren’t even a 2. Anyway, loved the way Heidi handled it. At least one of them has a little class.

  15. bettyrose says:

Diana wasn’t an obedient sexbot. Never would’ve worked.

    • MinnFinn says:

So true. And did Trump read ANY media reports about the breakdown of the Wales’ marriage? If he had, he would have easily seen that she was a spitfire and SO not his type. But the media circus following a D & D divorce would have been an epic battle. I’d put my money on team Diana because the devious tactics she brought with her to BP plus the new ones she learned from the Windsors would have been one surprise after another for Trump.

  16. Renae says:

This guy says things for the wow factor. He’s a smart man. He knows what he’s doing. To me, Princess Di being with Trump wouldn’t have been any wearder than her being with Prince Charles. Its a scarey thought this man could end up being next Prez. I would bet this guy has ties with George Soros and Bill and Hillary Clinton.

  17. jane berk says:

Just curious–of everyone he could insult-why heidi klum? Did she ever diss him anywhere?
He’s such a fool-an arrogant, narcissistic blowhard-what does it say about us that we could even THINK of him as electable….the man is repulsive.

  18. kri says:

Oh my god. If that came near me, I would put marshmallows on its face and heat it at 250 degrees, then serve it at Thanksgiving dinner.

  19. Citresse says:

The hair colour really clashes with his skin tone. And from the back his hair resembles a pelt.

  20. JRenee says:

Seriously, he is saying more outrageous stuff because it’s being published. When does this side show stop?

  21. anne_000 says:

Trump doesn’t have a history of allowing his wives to outshine him. They know their place, behind him.

I don’t think he wanted Diana for her sake. She was too big for him for him to be satisfied as a husband.

I think his ultimate goal with her would have been being able to say he was the stepfather of the future King of England. He would have put that on his business cards if it had gone through. He would have used William & Harry’s name in everything he did, like on his TV shows, interviews, whatever else.

Would he have provided better security for her than Dodi did? Who knows since it wasn’t her he really wanted. It was the status of his would-be connection to the British throne. Would have been great for his ego and his business connections.

  22. taxi says:

Diana liked men who were at least moderately attractive, which lets out Trump. He might have had better luck with Fergie.

  23. holly hobby says:

Ok his wave is creepy. It looks like he’s doing “Heil Hitler.”
