Tracy Morgan married Megan Wollover as he continues recovering from his accident

Tracy Morgan

When this story broke late on Sunday night, I admit to clapping my hands in glee. As most people are aware, Tracy Morgan sustained multiple injuries after a June 2014 multi-car turnpike accident that killed his mentor and best friend, James McNair. (The feds have since ruled that the Walmart semi-driver was sleep deprived on the job.) Morgan was left in critical condition, and his physical and emotional recovery has been ongoing.

There have been several positive signs in recent months. Morgan gave his first post-crash interview to Matt Lauer in early June. He walked without a cane a few weeks ago at a baseball game. His planned FXX comedy series could very well happen. The most promising sign of all — Morgan will host SNL in October. Now here’s a surprise development. Morgan married his girlfriend of four years, Megan Wollover:

Congratulations are in order! Tracy Morgan and fianceé Megan Wollover tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in Cresskill, NJ, on Sunday, Aug. 23, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly.

The happy couple, who began dating back in 2011, have so many reasons to celebrate. Morgan, 46, was involved in a headline-making car crash last June, one which killed his friend James McNair and left him with debilitating injuries.

“I can’t believe I’m here. I can’t believe I’m in front of you,” the 30 Rock comedian told Matt Lauer in a Today show interview on June 1. “Just seeing the tragedy that happened, it touches me.”

Morgan suffered from a broken leg, femur, nose, ribs, and a traumatic brain injury after his limo was hit by a Walmart truck driver on the New Jersey Turnpike in June of last year.

Tracy and Megan have a 2-year-old daughter together, and this is his second marriage. He was previously married for two decades to Sabrina Morgan. Now he’s building a new life in the wake of his tragic accident, which nearly killed him. This is such fantastic news for him. Congrats to the happy couple!

Hey! I live in Cresskill NJ. It’s a tiny town (pop 8000), with no public venue fancy enough for a celeb wedding, but it does have a neighborhood of multimillion dollar houses on the other side (not my side) of town. Does TM live in Cresskill, or did he borrow the house of a friend of his? Had no idea.

    • bananapanda says:

I have to wonder if it was Cresskill or Alpine but both could have big lawns and host a small party. I know Chris Rock and Jay Z both have houses in Alpine (no surprise). I think Stevie Wonder is in that area still too. Eddie Murphy was in Englewood but sold his place to Alicia Keys.

(P.S. I grew up in Englewood so I know the area too. Lifeguarded at Cresskill town pool.)

    Good for him.

  6. Jayna says:

I’m really happy for them. He’s been through a lot, and he’s had a good woman by his side.

  7. Santia says:

As someone in the legal field, whenever I see a “miraculous” recovery so soon after a multi-million dollar settlement, I tend to be skeptical. I hate to think he was playing up the long-term/permanent damage aspect for the suit.

    • Mixtape says:

Sorry, can’t stand comments like this. Why make such negative accusations, founded on nothing but personal suspicion and bias, about someone who has undoubtedly been through so much? How is “not walking with a cane” over a YEAR after such an accident a “miraculous recovery”? How does the news that he got married contribute to the fact that he had a “miraculous recovery”? Everything I’ve read about the settlement says it was confidential, so I don’t know where you’re getting your numbers from either. As someone in the legal field, I would assume you would require a “scintilla” of evidence before drawing your many conclusions.

      • Santia says:

You are entitled to your opinion, as am I. I’ve seen too many miraculous recoveries after huge settlements to be all “how amazing!” No argument that he suffered horrific injuries, however, the cane, walker, limp, etc. all go away so soon after the settlement? Okay. The scintilla of evidence is common sense. He sought damages based on future lost wages, which are based on past wages. Tracy earned millions from his work. You don’t like what I have to say, oh, well.

      • Genny says:

Seeing as it’s reported that he had a traumatic brain injury, I have a feeling that he still has a long way to go for recovering, and will never be the same. I grew up with family in the legal field as well, and while you have a right to be jaded, I feel like you don’t have nearly enough information to make that kind of call.
BTW, a professor of mine went through a similar accident to Tracy’s, and while she functions well, it’s a day to day battle. Once again, the damage isn’t just physical injuries, and I’m not going to shame him for getting some money for that. That’s what the legal system is partially there for.

      • Mixtape says:

Sorry, Santia, I still disagree. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, but you are trying to pass it off as something more by talking about your legal expertise. From where I stand, your argument can be summarized as follows: “Because I know of other people who have done it, Tracy Morgan probably has as well.” How is that not generalizing based on nothing but your own experience, as opposed to any known facts about Tracy–i.e., prejudice? I also just can’t get over the fact that you’re worried Walmart, of all things, could have possibly overpaid Tracy. Where is a rollback on famous comedian’s quality of life when you need one?

  8. Ravensdaughter says:

Keep up the good work, Tracy. May you be healthy and happy.

  9. kri says:

Keep getting better, Mr. Morgan. And congrats!

  10. MyHiddles says:

Congrats to them! I like her looks, she looks natural and healthy. I hope they’re good for and to each other.

  11. Tiara says:

I mean I’m happy that Tracy is doing better, but I can’t get over the fact he left a former girlfriend after she gave him her kidney. He’s not this sweet guy he portrays himself to be.

    • MyHiddles says:

They broke up before the kidney transplant. She probably donated in desperation to get back with him. How is that his fault?

      • Tiara says:

I apologize then, the story I heard is that he left her after the transplant. In that case it isn’t his fault but I’m still not too fond of him. That’s just my personal opinion.
