Jennifer Aniston probably wore an off-the-rack wedding dress & J.Crew veil

wenn5452492

Did you realize that Jennifer Aniston rarely wears all-white? It’s true. She’s sort of famous for her (over)reliance on little black dresses, but even when she steps out of LBD box, she usually goes for some muted neutral and never a simple white dress. So this photo (above) is from a 2010 photocall she did in Spain for Bounty Hunter. She wore a simple white sheath and she looked pretty good. I’m choosing to believe that her wedding dress was this simple too. We’ve heard such varied reports on what she wore for her Bel Air-backyard wedding, but Howard Stern did say that her dress was short. Now Us Weekly claims that Jennifer just went to a store to buy her dress and she topped it off with a simple veil from J. Crew.

She truly is just like Us! We all know that Jennifer Aniston married her longtime beau, Justin Theroux, in a surprise wedding at their luxurious Bel Air mansion on Wednesday, Aug. 5. But one thing we didn’t know: The bride wore a veil from J.Crew!

The Friends alum, 46, who’s graced the most glorious red carpets wearing luxurious styles by Versace, John Galliano, and Saint Laurent, topped her knee-length frock with a veil from the popular chain store (whose veils typically sell for about $200).

Plus, the little white dress in question wasn’t super high-end, either. “Jen bought her dress at a store,” an Aniston insider shared. “It wasn’t thousands of dollars.” The bride finished her ensemble with a wide, diamond-studded wedding band, designed by her good friend Jennifer Meyer, who also crafted the groom’s bling.

And the casual ‘tude didn’t stop there. As a source shared with Us Weekly, “Their dogs were the ring bearers!” There was even a photo booth, where some from their guest list, which included Emily Blunt, Ellen DeGeneres, and Maid of Honor Courteney Cox, snuck inside to take racy snaps—including the newlyweds!

[From Us Weekly]

Of course their dogs were ringbearers. Of course! As for the J. Crew veil…you can see J.Crew’s online veil and headpiece section here. It doesn’t seem like Jennifer would have had many choices? She either chose the short point d’esprit veil (which looks really cheap) or the single-layer veil that would have fallen down to her thigh, or the full-length veil. My guess is the mid-length one at $120. Veiling on the cheap! Anyway, I kind of like that Jennifer didn’t make a big deal about the dress and veil and everything. I’ll admit it – I’m still interested in seeing photos from the wedding. Just one wedding portrait, please?

Meanwhile, Jennifer just arrived in Atlanta to work on Gary Marshall’s Mother’s Daygo here to see some photos. Seriously though, Marshall is going to run out of holidays to exploit with his terrible rom-coms. Although I would love it if Richard Curtis took the piss out of Marshall and did a British rom-com ensemble, Boxing Day. Or St. George’s Day, starring Hugh Grant, Idris Elba, Maggie Smith, Keira Knightley and Jason Statham (sh-t, I would watch that).

She’s got some meaty paws, doesn’t she!?

    • Minnieder says:

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!!

    • EllenAJ28 says:

Yeah, she gots the Man Hands for sure

      • Argirl says:

I’ve got my Dad’s hands. They’re definitely man hands. My son has them, too.

Thanks for making me feel really great about that at the moment.

      • Ennie says:

Oh, Ar, if it makes you feel better, I’ve got my dad’s really wide, chubby feet, no Cinderella here, more of her stepsis 😉

Aniston disguised her flaws on-screen by using her nips hehehe

      • AntiSocialButterfly says:

        @Argirl-
I’m right there with you! Capable, squarish hands. Also, I’m almost 50, so Aniston’s hands look a lot like mine, a little arthritic, a little dry, just plain getting older.

Ladies, don’t forget to sunscreen your hands every day (unless gloved for winter).
I wish I had known that 20-30 years ago.

    • CG says:

      Man hands! 😝

    • Lindy79 says:

really? They look ok to me for a normal (as normal as Hollywood gets) 40 year old?

I’d rather her hands than Madonna and her constant glove wearing.

      • cujokay says:

Thank you! They’ve been picking this poor woman apart for 10 years. It’s gotten old.

      • epiphany says:

Hands, feet and noses get bigger as we get older. Also, the more you use your hands, the bigger they get. Think Jen’s hands look appropriate for her age, and yes, they’re meatier and more “spread out” than they were on ‘Friends.’

      • Amy says:

Amen! I don’t mind lambasting people for doing or saying stupid stuff, but making fun of their bodies=too far.

    • eribra says:

Haha, when I went to get my rings sized I told the lady I had man hands, she laughed and said it was much more common than Palmolive ads would have us believe. Meaty paws, that’s my new descriptor for the day-love it!

    • Paro7 says:

      Show us YOUR hands…

      • Wellsie says:

Oh, come on now. It’s just a little ribbing. Meaty paws is indearing!!!

I am sure Jennifer is quite happy with her lavish lifestyle and millions of dollars and won’t mind my silly little remark.

      • Jib says:

My father says I have farmer’s hands. I make jewelry, so my hands are cut, calloused and often covered in black jewelry polish. I love my man/farmer hands. They are wonderful, useful hands, not pampered hands, and I’m grateful every day that my hands are so useful. 🙂

    • Duchess of Corolla says:

      I noticed that too!

    • AB says:

Really? Those are considered man hands now? woops

    • Charlotte15 says:

I laughed harder at this comment than I have laughed at anything in a long time!

    • Isabelle says:

      no she doesn’t actually

    • Elisha says:

Yes, not a very pretty hand. Wasn’t she one of the celebs who shut down E!’s “mani-cam” with a quickness? Like, she knows her hands aren’t cute.

    • ican'tsnap says:

      Oh my GOD. Really?

    • Reeely?? says:

When hands are upside down they swell. This is kind of a mean spirited thread. I don’t have the bride gene either, so good for her and her whatever bride costume..

      Sheesh ya’ll. Who cares.

    • Annie says:

I’ve had people talk about my ” meaty ” hands. I don’t really think it’s very funny since they are swollen from rheumatoid arthritis. People have actually asked why my hands and fingers are so fat.

  2. Imo says:

If true this is awesome. My sister’s wedding was very pinterest and turned out to be breathtaking. Dropping tens of thousands on a wedding seems a bit much to me, anyway. Of course, going totally cheap seems disrespectful to family and friends as well, so…mazel tov.

    • Alice says:

My view on getting married is that you’re doing it for yourself and not to impress your friends and family. If you want a quiet, laid back wedding, how is that disrespectful? I think it would be more disrespectful for the guests to “judge” the couple getting married based on how much money they spent.

  3. Thea says:

Or the plain truth is that no famous designer wanted to design her dress. I have yet to see a designer acknowledge either on Twitter, Facebook or via media that Jennifer wore their design. Even her Versace Oscar dress was not custom made for her and Versace was completely silent during the Oscar red carpet and afterwards.

But yes – she looks good in white (when she is not overly tanned).

Cute that her dogs were involved but I don’t buy the excuse of having the wedding in LA was because she couldn’t travel with her dogs. She could easily have travelled anywhere with them as long as she has permission.

    • K says:

Oh please Jen is a huge name and gets a lot of attention, I’m not a fan but if she wanted to wear a fancy dress she could have any designer would have dressed her. And if they did and she doesn’t want it out they will keep it quiet to keep the relationship she gets way to much red carpet press to piss her off. Not to mention she isn’t one of the whining #morethenadress crowd.

      • Thea says:

You do know that Jennifer ALWAYS lets out either herself or via her agent who she is wearing?

      • cujokay says:

I agree. Some people insists she’s nobody because she’s no longer married to the pit. BFD! Hell yes, big name designers would be proud to dress her! Stop pretending otherwise pretentious people!

      • Matador says:

“You do know that Jennifer ALWAYS lets out either herself or via her agent who she is wearing?”

Thea, that’s EVERY celebrity. Ask Tom & Lorenzo. Their inbox is filled every morning with PR notes telling them who was where holding and wearing what.

        Your Aniston obsession is sad.

    • Tifygodess says:

Are you for real? All the designers out there – some that she is even friendly with , and no one wanted to design her dress? Lmao. Ok. Even Z listers can get custom dresses. Please.

      • Jegede says:

@Tifygodess – Exactly. They asleep though.

      • Thea says:

Just a tiny observation – no need for you to be so outraged on Jennifer’s behalf.

Man the Jennifer Aniston fans get upset over the tiny little negative comment written.

      • doofus says:

yeah, I’m betting if she wanted a custom gown for her wedding, she would have been able to get one. I really don’t see the shame in getting an off-the-rack dress for a small-ish, backyard second-wedding. Or, frankly, ANY wedding. why pay thousands of dollars for a dress you’ll wear once?

      • Tifygodess says:

@thea you actually seem to be the one spending quite a bit of time getting outraged- so you might want to check yourself before you come at anyone else. I’m not a “friend or foe” of Ms Aniston and her life causes me no emotion, I just call out a silly comment when I see one. But I hear there’s a stadium near by with plenty of seats – so please feel free to take one.

      • K says:

@thea no one is outraged and assuming I’m a fan because I call out the ridiculousness of your statement is just further highlighting your bias. You don’t like Jen which trust me I get but to think she isn’t a name or has designers wanting to dress her is assine.

      • veronn says:

no @thea, I believe outrage is when someone reply with a long essay to each and every contra opinion.

    • Tracy says:

Why did she need an “excuse” to have her wedding in LA? She had it at her home, on which she had just completed a multi- year renovation.

      • Thea says:

She is the one who said the reason for the wedding happened in LA was because the dogs couldn’t travel.

      • doofus says:

and maybe her dogs don’t like to travel…maybe they have health issues or maybe they have anxiety.

maybe it wasn’t an “excuse” at all, but just the truth?…

    • Monica says:

I’m not an Aniston fan but Versace did tweet about her dress during the oscars as well as all the other celeb dresses. I don’t even like her and even I know any designer would design her dress because of the attention. Even Kim kartrashian could Find a designer. Thea you need to let it go, and this is coming
      From a big Jolie fan.

      • Rex says:

Versace never tweeted her Oscar dress.

      • doofus says:

yes, Rex, they did. they tweeted a pic her her by herself, and one of her in a compilation of dresses (with her, Zoe Saldana, ScarJo, Amy Adams, Kate Hudson and Jane Fonda, among others they dressed on Oscar night.)

if you don’t believe me, take a look at Versace’s twitter feed. just scroll down to Feb 25 for the group photo and Feb 22 for the solo of Aniston.

    • mia girl says:

“Or the plain truth is that no famous designer wanted to design her dress.”

I can not believe that you typed that and truly believe it.
You can’t really believe that one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood could not get a famous designer to design her wedding dress, do you? Really? SMH

      • Rex says:

One of the highest paid? Lol. She makes less than $3 million per movie nowadays.

      • mia girl says:

        Oh dear.
@Rex – I’m not here to be a defender of the Aniston, but will defend myself and provide you the source for my comment. Please refer to No 5 on this Forbes list that I learned about last week on the Celebitchy post.

        http://www.forbes.com/pictures/emjl45eddhj/5-jennifer-aniston/

PS I’m not interested in defending Forbes list either. Just stating what was reported.

      • Ware says:

For best is full of it. Ask Gisele. It was revealed in the Sony emails that she gets less 3 million nowadays.

      • doofus says:

as has been stated, it’s likely a lot of that income is from endorsements and the product lines that she’s involved in.

however, it doesn’t change the fact that yes, she is one of the highest paid actresses, just not always for acting.

and as one of the highest paid, most well known and most photographed celebrities out there, if she wanted a fancy designer to do her gown she likely could have gotten one.

if this had come from Star or another tabloid, I’d tend to be skeptical, but Forbes is pretty respectable as a source.

      • mia girl says:

doofus – yup. this is what it says on the Forbes list about her:

        “$16.5 Million
Jennifer Aniston is one of several list mainstays who makes fewer movies but still earns from endorsements. Her two films in our scoring period–indie flick Cake and comedy Horrible Bosses 2–grossed just $108.6 million combined. Eleven years after Friends ended, Aniston makes bank shilling for Aveeno, SmartWater and Living Proof. “

      • Ware says:

Like I said, forbes is not reliable. Gisele said the IRS came knocking on her door because Forbes kept exaggerating her income. Now tell me where Aniston’s $16million came from. Those endorsements? Please.

    • desertrose says:

      Maya, is that you??

    • Grant says:

What a stupid comment to make. What designer WOULDN’T want Jen to wear one of their pieces? They’d get neverending coverage the next day!!! I swear, some people on this site are so quick to tear Jennifer Aniston apart that they don’t think before they speak.

  4. Lilacflowers says:

I would watch Richard Curtis’s Boxing Day or St. George’s Day as well. We need updates on all the Love Actually characters. Is Andrew Lincoln still pining for Keira? Did Chewetal ever find out? How is Bill Nighy’s music career going? Did Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson manage to repair their marriage? Did Colin Firth learn Portuguese?

    • BengalCat2000 says:

Alan left Emma for me, but she’s cool with it!😊

      • Lilacflowers says:

Well, did she at least get Liam Neeson? Did he come around to realizing that he could have more with her than just best friends and confidants?

    • Lindy79 says:

      Yes to all of this!!

    • Lilacflowers says:

Did Martin Freeman get a real job in movies or is he still just a body double? Is Hugh Grant still the prime minister? Has he declared war on Billy Bob Thornton? Did Laura Linney’s brother stop calling her long enough for her to make contact with Rodrigo Santoro?

      • BengalCat2000 says:

Emma for sure got Liam. Chewetal and Alan granted me every other night with them. I forget what the others have been up to…

    • mia girl says:

OMG Andrew Lincoln and those cue cards!
Him saying “Enough. Enough now.” MAKES ME CRY EVERY TIME!!

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      I loved that movie.

  5. Kate says:

That seems right. I don’t know why people kept trying to make up stories about her wearing these princessy gowns. She wore a very simple gown for her first wedding, her taste hasn’t changed since then, and the pictures and details of this wedding made it clear it was a casual event.

  6. Jenni says:

Jen keeps it classy. I’m glad there was no People cover and usual celeb wedding attention whoring. You go girl.

    • Thea says:

Good for her if she did indeed decide to publish the pictures.

But there is a big rumour going around that Terry will release them via Rolling Stones.

    • Rex says:

I would rather be called an attention whore for revealing my wedding pictures than to have Uncle Pervert Terry be my wedding photographer.

      • Thea says:

Me too and the media still ignores the Terry part in this wedding.

      • Tracy says:

I’d rather pick whatever the hell photographer I wanted and not give a rat’s ass what other people thought about it.

      • Monica says:

        @tracy
So you wouldn’t care if you picked a sex offender or rapist as a photographer. Low standards I guess. Not saying that terry is but according to you, it doesn’t matter

      • sousou says:

Thea, i believe this was this site wondering if Terry R. would go to rolling stone with photos since he’s apparently worked wih them. Musings at one site do not equal “big rumour.” I get that this is irking you but i think you are grasping at a few straws right now. Everyone always knows All the designer i.d.s… This is not unique to jen a.

Also separate from this, somewhere early on stated the dress was flirty and swingy (tmz or …).

Maybe the wedding pic with brad pitt seemed to be something everyone could grab (looking so in love and then it ends under not great circumstances but continually in her face) that she wanted to keep to herself and friends…. Hard to imagine since everyone does it… Or maybe some other unique reveal is in store.

    • Jegede says:

      @Jenni

      I respect her for it.

But I admit I would still love to see Aniston’s, Penelope Cruz’s, and Blake Lively’s wedding dresses.

    • Monica says:

      @jenni
i have heard more information about this wedding than any other “secret”
Wedding. I know nothing About Kerry Washingtons wedding or Cameron Diaz or Penelope Cruz. Everyday we hear more
      Information about this wedding.

      • That’s my thing. Is it really “better”/less famewhorey to s-l-o-w-l-y release tidbits from your wedding, for the next month, when you could’ve given PEOPLE a couple of pictures of you in your dress, and some quotes about the entire day….and then be done with it? I don’t think so.

    • bree says:

Yet her team is still releasing info about the wedding bit by bit! We know so much about it even without official pictures. She lets howard stern tell all.

It is not a secret wedding when you announce it hours after it happened & when the paps just happened to be there.

There is also nothing classy about being BFF with Terry Richardson or chelsea handler.

      • Judd says:

She, Aniston, did not release a thing! Her wedding guest, who thought were attending a Birthday party did.

CLASSY is not selling your wedding photos to the highest bidder!

      • sue says:

Uh Judd , she sure has no problem with her guests talking about it! She is releasing info through them.

Howard Stern even said he knew it was a wedding…

Classy & aniston do not go together.

  7. emmyb1608 says:

She looks great in that first photo… Until you scan down to her veiny feet! Yikes!

    • Cs says:

I was thinking the same thing! Well that and how overly dark her legs look, but. THOSE VEINS.

    • Judd says:

Well at least it’s not a big ol vein popping out of her forehead. Talk about YIKES!

      • Camille (The Original) says:

        Big old veiny BALLS! 😮

      • Sarah says:

Is that your “go to” when one says something remotely negative about Aniston? Put your big girl panties on and deal with it! It makes you seem so bitter….. .

  8. Rex says:

Why so many tid bits about this wedding. Just reveal the dress/pictures or shut up.

  9. Kaye says:

There’s not a lot a person can change about the shape of her hands. JA’s are smooth and she has a nice manicure. What more can you ask?

    • Saks says:

This. Also kind of hypocrital from some people saying how feminist they are and yet taking the first opportunity they have to body-shame Jennifer.

  10. K says:

It’s her second wedding, she is 46 not 26 and the wedding sounds small. This sounds realistic don’t get why she would have a veil, but I don’t understand why anyone wants one. Jen did the big perfect over the top wedding and look how that worked out she might actually just want the marriage this time.

    • Chinoiserie says:

I looked the veils from the link and they looked nice but I like veils. I a tually think they look better with simple dresses than princess ones. And where else you get the opportinity to wear one but your wedding?

      • K says:

I’m not a big veil person but they can be pretty.

And thank you @amy that is what I meant that all Jen cares about this time is the marriage not that her previous wedding size had any impact on the success but she had the wedding so who cares now she wants a marriage and that’s it really.

    • Imo says:

Yes, her first marriage ended because she had an over the top wedding? Really?

      • Rex says:

I think she meant she was only interested in a fancy wedding not the marriage.

      • Amy Tennant says:

I didn’t get either implication, about only caring about wedding or wedding causing marriage failure. If anything, the implication might be that a big wedding does not guarantee a happy marriage, but that’s completely different from the other situations.
A lot of people go smaller with subsequent weddings, especially if they had a big to-do the first time around. Tradition (which is sexist and problematic, but that’s another fight for another day) would have the bride wearing a color other than white and no veil, since she’s not wrapped up like a shiny new present anymore. (I think wear what you want whatever number of wedding it is).
Jenn maybe should wear white more often, especially because she likes to be tan! I prefer the alabaster aesthetic, but a tan looks fantastic with a white outfit.

      • Camille (The Original) says:

It was a ‘starter marriage’ for them both (BP/JA), I don’t know why people still harp on about it. Both parties have long ago moved on.

  11. lucy2 says:

2nd marriage, back yard wedding – a simple, not too expensive dress makes sense.

  12. kibbles says:

You have to admit she’s aged well and it’s not just because she is fit, but she was smart not to overdo it with Botox and fillers like her friend Courtney Cox. It’s probably also her good Greek genes that have helped her look youthful, like John Stamos.

    • Lisa says:

Very true. Never a fan, but she looks good and what Courtney Cox has done to her face is a sad. I have a friend who looks like CC (a few years younger) and still looks beautiful even with the normal wrinkles and such.

  13. It'sJustBlanche says:

i’ve never really liked her. I’m not sure why, it’s just one of those irrational things that you sometimes get towards an actor. Maybe it’s because her acting technique seems to center around her nipples. Like, hey I can’t act but look at these nipples! Anyway, having said that I always thought she was well dressed and had gorgeous skin and hair. Unfortunately for her, all that tanning has started to catch up with her.

  14. Nessa says:

No matter who you are, or how much money you have, your hands always give away your age. There is nothing you can do about it!

  15. mkyarwood says:

I wore an under $100 dress from J Crew for my wedding. They have a great bridal selection!

  16. perplexed says:

I’d watch St. George’s Day. I want to see that movie!

  17. AmyB says:

Like some other people commented, her first wedding was over the top costing millions. Lots of people scale back for a second wedding and that seems in good taste. I would still love to see a picture of her in her dress, but if she does not want to release it, that’s her pejorative. I am glad she pulled off this wedding without notice to the press. Must be exhausting for some celebrities (but I am sure the millions and millions of dollars they make kind of makes up for it, no?) 😉

    • boredblond says:

An extravagant wedding early in a Hollywood career (or one that needs reviving) is more about the story and using the moment to keep your name out there so it made sense for their pr people the first time around. I think keeping it private this time shows she has matured, doesn’t feel so needy to get good press, and shows definite class. I have more respect for her for not selling the occasion out (and for Cake).

      • The Original G says:

You can’t really send sell something no one want to buy, can you? Congrats to her but she’s definitely aged out of the bridal interest market.

  18. Dirty Martini says:

I’m always perplexed at some of the posts on JA items…..she seems to bring out the claws in some and the hearts/flowers in others……and I just *yawn* find her too boring to elicit any real reaction one way or the other.

  19. Kate says:

Didn’t she only ever release that one close-up photo of her wedding to Brad Pitt? (I might be wrong on that.) If so, we might never see the dress. This makes me sad. I don’t care that much about Jennifer Aniston, but I do enjoy ogling celebrity wedding photos.

  20. bree says:

Now they are back to spending time apart, no wonder they are still together.

People mag said they thrive on being apart, how romantic.

The reaction to this wedding is a big yawn from most, most people still have no clue who Justin is.

  21. iheartgossip says:

Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh she is so thirsty. Hey Jenni-Poo; you’re much too old to be strollin’ the pap highway. And before a Stan comes in to correct me; I realize it’s her PR machine, but she has the say so for what is ‘leaked’. Take a vaca Jenny -Poo

  22. TW says:

Remember when Sharon Stone wore a simple black Guess top with a long skirt to the Oscars? Fashion reviewers catapulted her as the toast of the town for assembling that great look without an extravagant price tag.

    • imqrious2 says:

She wore her husband’s white Gap shirt tied at the waist, with a lavender Vera Wang ball gown skirt. She was stunning.

  23. Did Jen register the marriage at the County Recorders office? (I like receipts)

  24. LAK says:

That wasn’t so hard, was it Jen? All the talk about weddings and timings when a back garden simple wedding was all you needed to do.

  25. JudyK says:

WHY is she wearing platforms with that white dress…they are so out.

Even the Kardashians know that and have for the last couple of years.
