I was really disappointed that Idris Elba didn’t come out to support Beasts of No Nation last week during the Venice Film Festival, but he did go to Telluride to support the film, and here he is at the big TIFF premiere. I’ve mentioned this in a few TIFF posts, but a lot of the “most hyped” films have really not been living up to the hype at TIFF. But not Beasts of No Nation. People really have strong feelings about the film, about Cary Fukunaga’s direction, and about Idris Elba’s performance. I kind of wonder if, coming out of TIFF, Idris’s chance for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod is even stronger.

At some point, very recently, Idris lost some of his facial hair. I think if he was going to shave the ‘stache, he should have gone completely clean-shaven and gotten rid of whatever is on his chin. I mean, it’s still IDRIS and he’s still a beautiful man, but for him… it should be all or nothing. It should be a beard or goatee or completely clean. And personally, I think he looks sexier with facial hair. Just my preference!

So, who would you rather? Cary looks much better with the glasses than without. And Idris looks worse without the ‘stache. Ugh, this is so hard!!!
