Michael Fassbender will give Kate Winslet a pressure cooker for her 40th b-day

I guess I missed these photos yesterday! My bad. These are pics from Sunday’s premiere of Macbeth in Edinburgh – a Scottish premiere for the Scottish Play. Lovely. Unfortunately for everyone involved, Michael Fassbender got a haircut before the premiere and it’s the worst. He’s just one of those guys who needs a bit of shag with his hair and without it, he just looks old and tired.

It’s nice that they brought the premiere to Scotland though – early interviews from the cast and crew seem to indicate that this was a really difficult shoot. Apparently, Marion Cotillard fell into a bog and it took two crew members to pull her out. Michael chatted about that, Macbeth’s PTSD, and playing Bobby Sands in Hunger in this interview (below). About Bobby Sands, Fassy said: “Well I think you know anybody who has the commitment and courage to follow something like that through to hunger strike, you think that person is extraordinary… He was a leader – that’s very clear – and just again, somebody who takes leadership to almost a mythological level. I have a lot of respect for him. I think having sort of having had a minor insight into what it must have been like, I very much have respect for him.”

As for Steve Jobs, Fassy has also been doing interviews to support that film as well. When Fassy sat down with Kate Winslet and E! News, they ended up talking about her upcoming 40th birthday and how what she wants most in the world is a pressure cooker because “I want to start making bone broths!” When Fassy asked what that entails, Kate said: “Taking a whole bunch of bones and putting them in a pressure cooker with lots of chopped up leeks and onions and celery and all that stuff and you make this amazing restorative bone broth. You boil it up for like 12 hours and it cures you of all ailments.” Fassy was intrigued, so he made Kate a promise: “I love this. I will get you the pressure cooker if you will cook me one of those bones broths.”

That’s really cute! Although I can think of a few other things Fassy could get me for my birthday. 😉

  2. vauvert says:

Because Kate can’t afford to buy her own pressure cooker, poor thing, and he needs bone broths explained?? Sometimes I wonder what universe these celebs live in – it must be a strange one without home cooking, Google or a department store if they need to talk about mundane things like broths and pots in an interview.

    • ell says:

i doubt that’s the point. it’s not like rich people can’t ever get presents.

those interviews when promoting films can get really boring and repetitive, I see nothing wrong with wanting to talk about light, silly things that have nothing to do with it, just for a bit. i love kate btw, and she always gives good interviews.

    • Pondering thoughts says:

I think it was a jokey proposal.

    • Susiecue says:

      Aw lighten up ☀️

  3. Lennox says:

    Yep, that haircut is appalling.

  4. Lara K says:

I’ve always had mixed feelings about him.

Yes he is hot but also comes across as pretentious with a side of douchery…

  5. Renee says:

I need a grill pan, Michael.

  6. Princess Consuela Banana Hammock (paola) says:

    WHAT!
She’s not even 40 yet? I thought she was way older than that! Maybe it’s because she’s been around forever..

  7. LAK says:

Doesn’t she mean a slow cooker?

    • SamiHami says:

I sure hope so. Can you imagine something cooked in a pressure cooker for 12 hours? It would explode long before then!

    • Holly says:

12 hours in a pressure cooker? Xplosions! She must be talking about a slow cooker.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I was wondering the same. I have a pressure cooker for our boat because the point is to cook things really fast. I never use it because I’m the sort of person who would blow up the boat, and I’m scared of it. But I’m pretty sure it would explode if you kept it on for 12 hours. These people.

    • LadyMTL says:

Seriously, I would hope so. I can just see her trying to make a bone broth in a pressure cooker and then like…blowing the roof off of her house.

      • LAK says:

Kate Winslet is another celebrity who is constantly pushing the ‘i’m normal, I do everything myself’ image, but clearly she’s not, if she doesn’t know this basic fact about pressure cookers.

    • Korra says:

LOL! I was absolutely confused. 12 hours in a pressure cooker? I hope she does it. That’ll be an even better story.

      This was cute though.

    • neutral says:

No it is the opposite, things are cooked at higher pressure so they cook quicker

      • LAK says:

Neutral, I think you are missing the part where she says she wants to cook the broth for 12hrs. A slow cooker would take 12hrs. A pressure cooker would explode if left to cook for 12hrs.

And yes, if she wished to cook faster, a pressure cooker would be the way to go, but she wishes to cook for 12hrs which makes a slow cooker the obvious choice for such a long cooking time.

    • I Choose Me says:

I’m with you all. I was like wha . . . ? I hope somebody sets her straight before she attempts it with a pressure cooker.

    • sauvage says:

This is going to end like the scene in “American Hustle” involving Jennifer Lawrence and a microwave.

  8. Lilacflowers says:

Michael, I need a new mixer. No, it’s not my birthday but you’ll be in the kitchen appliance section any way.

  9. Astrid says:

Both are clueless! And Madonna has to be older than 40

  10. hadlyB says:

I just want to know if they hooked up. I have a feeling Kate hooks up with many co stars and we will read her tell all when she is 90 .

    • ell says:

oh god I wish! her choices in men are always so… disappointing tbh. not that michael would be much of an improvement, but he’s sexy so a hook up would be good.

  11. Stefan says:

Why pressure cooker? Crock pot is the way to go. Makes everything taste delicious…. 🙂

    • Korra says:

I adore my crockpot. He and I haven’t spent much time together lately because I’ve been traveling but I’m gonna have a nice long weekend with him. Im gonna need some recipes.

  12. bored mom says:

I’m obsessed with my pressure cooker so I love this. I think she’s being silly with the 12 hour comment because you DO cook the bone broth for 2 hours which is actually a very long time to pressure cook anything. I don’t think she’s being literal. Btw, the pressure cooker blows the slow cooker out of the water for broth

I think it’s kind of adorable to see someone want something normal and not, for example, a gold plated juicer.

  13. Esteph says:

Damn….I can’t decide which one I want more today – Fassy or Hiddles…can’t I have both?

  14. Tara says:

I love both Kate and Fassy. Both so talented and charming. Would love more about them rather than the Kardashians.

  15. Jaded says:

Why are people all of a sudden acting like “bone broth” is the newest thing since space travel? It was called “soup stock” in my grandmother’s and mother’s day and I refuse to call it bone broth. I’ve been making it since I could cook and always have containers of it in my freezer – it’s great to cook rice or pasta in to give it flavour or just add to soups and stews. When I have a cold it’s a great sinus-clearer too.

    • I Choose Me says:

Right? Like it’s this amazing new discovery. Well, maybe it is to them. I wonder how many celebs actually cook?

    • bored mom says:

Bone broth is when you cook it down more to extract the collagen and it gels. Not a huge difference, but it’s different. Not sure it’s a miracle cure all but I do love cooking with it.

      • Jaded says:

Mine is always in “gel” form too Bored Mom – and when I make it with chicken and turkey bones, for some reason it clears my head when I have a cold or flu – better than an over-the-counter pill. (PS it’s a good hangover cure too…)

    • Arpeggi says:

Yep! It’s like someone suddenly discovered that broth doesn’t come from a box, it’s ridiculous (buying vegetable broth has always been a pet peeve of mine; how hard is it to boil a few carrots and onions for a while?). But at least I am now reminded that I need to stop by the supermarket and get some chicken livers and hearts to make a broth out of this weekend’s roasted chicken remains… My life is so glamorous!

      • Jaded says:

It’s a life more worthy than going to some trendy, over-priced store to buy expensive “bone broth” in an fancy jar! Much better to make it yourself…it’s not rocket science!

  16. Abigail says:

    I like his hair short.

  17. Andrea says:

I don’t like his hair short (I like the wave to come through).

On another note, he’d make a killer James Bond.

  18. Andrea says:

I wonder why Fassy posts are so quiet these days? has BC and Hiddles taken over this site?

    • Velvet, Crushed says:

I wonder about that, too. Provided I believe the abuse allegations against him are not true, which, under the rather unusual circumstances I do, my heart flutters freely for him.

  19. sfrowguy says:

“Pressure Cooker” … is that a euphemism for Crotch. Michael stop that.

  20. Abby says:

I’m literally (as in, just took off the stove) making chicken bone broth in a pressure cooker right now. The benefit of a pressure cooker vs. a SLOW cooker is you only cook the bones and veggies for an hour! She’s going to be pleasantly surprised when she follows the directions…. Or maybe it’ll blow up if she tries cooking it for 12 hours. 🙂

  21. lis says:

I love that he gets along so well with co-stars and directors. A rarity these days.

  22. Seraphina says:

Yes oh yes. I so agree. He can put pressure on my cooker too. Love me some fassy!!!!
