Jennifer Aniston gets boozy for her first Emirates Airlines commercial: cute?

wenn22788325

Shortly after her surprise wedding in August, it was announced that Jennifer Aniston had scored a very lucrative endorsement deal with Emirates Airlines. She was reportedly paid $5 million for both TV commercials and print ads, most of which will be seen in foreign markets. While I’ve yet to see a print ad, the first commercial has been released and it’s not bad at all.

I honestly didn’t know that Emirates Airlines has showers on their planes. Are the showers just for first class passengers? Do you even want to shower on a plane? I don’t think I would want that, but the fully stocked bar looks nice. Quick question: is alcohol served on all of Emirate Airlines’ flights? I’m asking because… this is an airline out of the UAE, not known for their tolerance of booze-drinking. Oh, I looked it up – they generally serve alcohol on almost every flight (exception: flights to and from Saudi Arabia?). Does anyone else wonder if Emirates Airlines chose Aniston as their spokesperson because they wanted to emphasize how booze-friendly they are? As in, Aniston = boozehound.

Anyway, it’s a perfectly nice commercial and Jennifer continues to rake in serious cash with her endorsement deals. Her work with SmartWater has probably been the most lucrative, but I’m sure she also scored a pretty penny for Aveeno. Living Proof… well, I don’t know what kind of money she’s getting there, but I know she’s invested heavily in the company. I don’t mind at all that Jennifer is out there, making that $$$. Mama needs to keep Justin Theroux in jorts and safety pin earrings.

I loathe flying but I’m booking a ticket immediately. That plane looked amazing.

    • sarah says:

Same! Maybe I would actually enjoy flying then..lol
      Jen looks great too

      • Caro says:

I found that offensive on several different levels: Oh so the American planes have garish older not so attractive women as flight attendants, all the better to contrast with Aniston aka Tootsie and to highlight the unpleasantness of other air travel. No pretty people anywhere. But a nice blonde guy on the Arabic airline at the bar. Well that was a commercial for the 1% if I ever saw one. Yea u go right ahead @MIMIF mortgage your house then book a ticket.lol

      • mimif says:

Or just book a ticket. 😉
P.S. Pretty sure the bartender is a gay blonde Arab.

      • Jaded says:

@Caro – lighten up….it’s called “humour”. And I’ve flown on many planes where the staff looked like that and a drink and a shower were just a dream.

@mimif – you go right ahead and take your dream flight, have a martini for me!

      • MsFraggles says:

Caro, who p!ssed in your cheerios?

      • Eleonor says:

@Caro. it’s a commercial, it supposed to promote UAE, it is supposed to show why it is the best. I’ve used the UAE, it was not first class, but I have to admit everything was comfortable and professional.

      • V4Real says:

Wow mimif has to mortgage her house. Is someone indirectly saying she can’t afford to fly on that airline. Don’t worry mimif I have saved up quite a few cans and bottles over the years so I will split my pennies with your broke ass and take that flight with you. 🙂

@Beatrice was being nice by saying US carriers. I called them tin or tuna cans and were the tuna all squished in together. Though I was happy when my tin can carrier gave me a pack of peanuts until I realized I had to share it with the entire row. Bummer….

      • doofus says:

Let’s start a GoFundMe page for mimif and her dream of flying on that plane. we can’t have her mortgaging her house, you know.

      • BunnyBabe says:

        @doofus @mimif I got a hunnid on it 💵

      • Caro says:

To avail yourself of the amenities.’afraid to fly,’ Aniston pretended to use on her fake prop plane, it will cost you close to $18,500 (just did a sample search on firstclass airfare from Chicago to Dubai). If you’ve got that kind of dough @mimif, more power to you. Lol

      • mimif says:

Yay thanks you guys! As a homeless troll I have no home to mortgage, sigh. Complimentary Aveeno all around, except for Caro. S/he gets the Smartwater.

      • doofus says:

pfft…F the smartwater…give her the free copy of Leprechaun.

      • mimif says:

LOLZ doofus I just peed martini in my first class reclining bed.

      • epiphany says:

In no way, shape or form am I an Aniston fan, but that was actually pretty good. Can’t deny the chick has good comedic timing. Offensive? I don’t think so.

    • Beatrice says:

Yes! That would take the sting out of flying. If I had the bucks, that would be my airline of choice! It’s a cute commercial and Anniston did a good job. And Caro, flying in US carriers isn’t the great experience it used to be–no food, sandwiched into narrow seats, and overpriced booze. However, most flight attendants are pleasant and well groomed but horribly overworked.

      • Caro says:

Uh @Beatrice, even if I wanted to fly to united Arab Emrates, and had an extra $20,000 to drop on a first class ticket to get the aniston package, I would say nah.

Yes, U.S. and most airlines do suck but unless you get a bump up, uae’s economy class isn’t much different than most other airlines.

    • Jen says:

And now I’m thinking of renewing my passport just so I can travel on that thing…

    • Trashaddict says:

Sorry to me it absolutely came off as spoiled, shallow bitch. That’s why the crew are laughing their asses off at her.

  2. bros says:

The UAE is one of the most tolerant in terms of alcohol being available at bars and pubs and hotels, as opposed to saudi arabia or kuwait which are totally dry.

the showers are just for first class. that airlines also has totally private cabin suites with doors that close and turn down service. the gulf airlines are amazing. their coach is like everyone else’s business.

also, found this: great tutorial on the shower! http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2015/01/30/guide-to-the-emirates-a380-first-class-shower-suite/

  3. tila says:

I recently used emirates on a trip from England to Dubai and yep – still get free booze, and that was economy class. Great service and still very comfortable.

  4. Birdix says:

if you’re making an ad for the 1% that’s a great way to do it.

    • knower says:

Always cracks me up when I see people carrying around Smart Water. If you have that stuff regularly you are an idiot that’s been duped. It isn’t different molecularly, but the people that buy that usually have more money than thought.

  5. Sienna says:

Apparently $5 million is the amount of money that is needed to cure her fear of flying.

She is also getting lots of backlash from LGBT groups and female stewardesses around the world for supporting Emirates because they don’t hire LGBT people and disrespect the women.

Twitter was also full with tweets from Americans being angry at Jennifer for taking the money and mocking American Airlines.

Waiting to see how Jennifer is going to address this or is she going to ignore it as usual?

    • Caro says:

      @Sienna

Unreal. Can you believe if certain other celebs were to be so hypocritical as to sell their integrity to the highest bidder and cash in with a Co. known for discriminatory practices? There’d be riots.

    • funcakes says:

For five million dollars I’m going to say she going to ignore it.
She goes for safe causes. This is a woman that vacation in Cabo despite the controversy. She feels going to Cabo is helping.

  6. Snazzy says:

The showers are only for first class. If you’re flying for work the showers are super useful. You can step off the flight fresh and clean and ready to go. But not in my price range, sadly

  7. Caro says:

hm…that’s exactly how she shows up on the Forbes lists. they compile all her shilling…Its not her salary as an actress.

  8. als says:

I don’t think anyone minds that she’s out there making the $$$ but wasn’t she originally
    an actress?

  9. Crumpet says:

Looks amazing! I had no idea it was like a luxury cruise only flying. It was a cute ad.

  10. TheOtherViv says:

I have been lucky enough to be flying Business on Emirates (for work- not privately, at least not until I win the lottery)- it really does look just like that on the A380, but showers? That must be for FirstClass only. They feed you until you pass out or at least feel like walking to that bar is a workout. Jen looks good in that commercial. Emirates Economy is great as well, very good deals and worth the stopover in Dubai. My hubby hates flying and the only way I get him on the plane is to dangle their entertainment system in front if his nose like a carrot – and the fact that Dubai airport has a great cheap seafood restaurant. And a Cinnabon- Don’t laugh- we don’t have those in Europe.

  11. meme says:

I like Jennifer but don’t understand all her endorsement deals. She’s got tons of money and wants to be taken seriously as an actress. Shilling isn’t the way to go.

    • lola says:

She needs the money. The amount of money she has is heavily inflated by Auntie Huvane. I would definitely side-eye the $5 million she supposedly got for this ad.

  12. minx says:

    The plane looks wonderful.
    Her, meh.

    • Pizazz says:

I was thinking that too, the ad was ok but Anistion isn’t ageing well, the older she gets the more masculine she looks. She should go back to TV work, it’s definitely her strong suit.

  13. Freddy Spaghetti says:

That ad actually made me laugh. Jennifer really belongs back on tv. But I guess she’s still trying to make the movie star thing happen.

    • sophie says:

Well she will be starring in a movie with Robert DeNiro called The Comedian. It is in pre-production, filming to start in January in New York, so there’s that.

      • lola says:

        Is she, really.
IF she is, the announcement will be made when the “By the Sea” promotions starts, count on it.

Mama still needs the “SUPERSTARS” to get any real press.

      • sophie says:

The DeNiro movie is on his IMDB with her name attached also. Also, Deadline just reported that she will be starring in a war movie called The Yellow Birds based on Iraq war. She is also attached to a movie called What Alice Forgot based on a book. They have already been announced.

  14. Tarsha says:

Is there a difference? She is always boozing. Always showing up at award shows plastered and stumbling.

    • Grant says:

Literally never seen one show where she was “plastered and stumbling” but ok.

      • ann says:

I’ve seen her slurring her speech and hanging on to the little table (don’t know what it’s called ) with her elbows slowly sliding down, talking about she doesn’t Judy Garland it on the plane on an awards show and she was gooned. Jimmy’s show she was drunk or stoned when she buzzed his desk. She’s ok on daytime talk shows, but not so much for the late night talks shows, or award shows. She clearly has a problem with alcohol.

  15. petan says:

I’ve seen a promo of the Emirate plane featuring their luxurious business class and first class flights on youtube and yes, it looked awesome. But it’s first and business class which means super expensive air fare. So, yeah, if i would be paying almost 20 grand for a flight to travel across the globe, then yes, i’d expect it to be this luxurious and comfortable.

  16. lower-case deb says:

for some reason, that youtube link sent me to many different “youtubers” reviewing luxury class airline. i had no idea there are so many youtube channels dedicated to recording people flying first class.

the most impressive it seems is Etihad. it’s like a small dorm.

but i love Love the color celadon-and-taupe colorscheme of Air France first class. very parisian chic even the inflight safety video.

BA’s first class is very nice looking too. it looks like a gentlemen’a club smoking lounge ambience (without the smoke).

i guess they’re trying to get as many people off the private jets and into a commercial airplane.

  17. Mmtahoe says:

Emerites does indeed have 2 shower suites on A380 aircraft for 1st class customers, the whole setup is fabulous. Suites are reserved for 30 minute times, Water temp is set by you, will we run for 5 minutes and can be turned on/off when using so nothing is wasted. There’s also one “apartment” ticket on these flights, a super big space for 2 passengers. Having flown many international airlines, i can honestly say it is nothing short of spectacular. The service, food, choices of alcohol, attendants, physical environment and attitudes of international carriers are, in my opinion night and day above US carriers. As are their club lounges. I always sleep in international flights, but it’s hard to make myself do it! Etihad is also another carrier with an amazing experience. By the way, UA is a partner of Emerites, AA is a partner of Ethihad. Oh, and shower holds a “maximum of two people” per the sign. Mile high!

  18. Cinderella says:

I need to win the lottery just so I could fly in that sucker.

Like her or not, Jen can sell a product.

    • Tarsha says:

She can sell a product? Oh really, so how do you explain her perfume that flopped and her movie Cake that was a massive flop and barely made a million in the first few months?

    • lola says:

She couldn’t sell “Cake”, or herself, or her perfume. Smartwater is always in the buy one, get on free aisle, and Living Proof is not flying off the shelves.

    • Judd says:

Yes, she can. But leave it to the Jolie stalkers to refute anything and everything positive about her. Bless their hearts…. How tiresome it must get for them!

  19. funcakes says:

This story reminds me of the French airlines that’s letting go 2900 workers. The workers ripped the clothes of the people who made the announcement.
People wrote in about the flight crew disappearing after the took off and reappearing just before the flight landed.
And the crew did serve people the food was sparse and awful.

  20. Pumpkin Pie says:

Emirates is my favorite airline. I’ve flown 20 plus airlines so far and for me, Emirates is the best. They don’t fly everywhere though.
I don’t think they hired JA because she’s ‘boozy’, she is very-well known and she’s a good in comedies, imo. But for what is worth, I fly Emirates if I have a choice with or without JA, buy HM with or without Giselle.

  21. Alarive says:

Emirates upgraded me to Business class once from Amsterdam-Sydney, with Dubai layover. Totally by surprise, both ways! Seriously, the best experience of my life. It’s a 20+ hour flight and I said exactly what Jennifer Aniston said at the end: “do we really have to land?”
Be EXTRA EXTRA nice to the people at the check-in counter, get there early, and just ask. They’re a fantastic airline, super generous.

  22. BunnyLover says:

Yes, love Emirates! Even their economy class is a cut above every other airline I have flown with.

I was upgraded to Emirates Business on A380 for flight Auckland to Sydney and it felt like first class. Just without the showers. It was so amazing I forgot I was flying. Emirates Lounges are special too.

Now I die a little every time I have to check in on any other airline.

  23. Sarah01 says:

I’ve been lucky to fly Emirates first class a couple of times and it was worth every penny as the flight duration was very long. if I ever was mega rich one thing I’d splurge on would be flying first or business class. Whenever we travel we always try to book with Emirates ( economy) like bunny lover says, economy class is still cut above the rest.

Jen looks old and reminds me of sjp, maximizes whatever she has, even so with all she does to herself she still looks average.

  24. Dani says:

My husband is Kuwaiti and the flights there is a 24 hour nightmare, I would kill for a shower however $18,000 is too much.
