Donald Trump will host ‘Saturday Night Live’ on November 7th: ugh?

wenn22927011

Last night was the first Democratic presidential candidate debate. And OMG, I really could not watch for more than a few minutes here and there. I’m sorry. I’m a long-time Dem and I found it boring and irritating. I kind of want Joe Biden to get in the race just so that we won’t have to see Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton yell at each other for the next three months. While Bernie, Hillary, Martin O’Malley and Lincoln Chaffee all threw some punches, it was Donald Trump who “won” the night in some circles. Trump promised to live-tweet the entire two-hour debate and he followed through. Trump “won” because he gained, by Time Mag’s count, about 60,000 new Twitter followers. Hillary Clinton got 15,000 new followers and Bernie Sanders got 50,000 new followers. You can see Trump’s Twitter feed here – he was retweeting a lot of stuff and trash-talking the Dems.

Meanwhile, it was announced yesterday that Donald Trump will be hosting Saturday Night Live on November 7th. Hillary Clinton notably did a bit on the season premiere episode, but she did not host. This means Trump will have to stay in New York for a whole week and actually rehearse and do skits live. Of course, he’s hosted SNL before – the last time he hosted was 2004. There’s some question about whether Trump will be able to mock himself, whether he’ll allow himself to be the butt of some jokes. I don’t know… he’s a racist piece of trash, but I kind of believe that he’ll be down with doing whatever the writers want him to do.

One of the funniest parts of this story is the musical guest that night will be Sia. POOR SIA. Good God, I already feel sorry for her.

Good lord, his head is like a jack-o-lantern.

  2. Bethie says:

Sure, let’s give him a platform. Nobody is sick of him at all.

  3. mia girl says:

I hope Sia pulls a Sinead O’Connor and rips up a picture of Trump on live TV. “Fight the real enemy!”

  4. Sam says:

I’m sort of curious as to how they will handle this. Will they allow him to control the show, or will he actually have a sense of humor? I can’t see it going well, but okay, I’ll admit to being slightly curious.

But this mostly makes me think that SNL is struggling for relevancy these days and is just trying to stay in the news. I don’t know anyone left who watches it routinely.

    • SusanneToo says:

I don’t think he knows what a sense of humor is.

      • WinnieCoopersMom says:

I dont know ..he was pretty hilarious on Fallon, mainly by being himself, and yes, getting in on the jokes about himself. And his comments on people can be so funny, esp if you’re not worried about being PC. The bit about Rosie had the whole country laughing. He doesnt try to be funny, he just is bc he is so brutally honest. This will get some crazy high viewer ratings.

  5. evermoreOriginalhere says:

Yes, let him go on and on and be the GOP Nominee.
The GOP looks like a circus.
    imo

  6. doofus says:

    why? ratings grab, I guess…

you said it all…the man is a racist piece of trash so I won’t be watching. I’d be willing to bet that a LOT of people won’t be watching. hell, I’d love it if every cast member who is a person of color or female refused to participate, much like when Nora Dunn (and others) didn’t perform when Andrew “Dice” Clay was the host. I hope Sia cancels, too.

  7. Triple Cardinal says:

    The Donald is hosting?

No doubt I’ll watch for a few minutes…and then fall asleep.

    • crtb says:

This means Trump will have to stay in New York for a whole week and actually rehearse

Really??? because he doesn’t rehearse or prepare for debates or interviews. He takes pride in talking from the hip (did I get the expression correct? I am sure he thinks he will be able to come in and do improv because he is so smart, and so great and has the best people, and people love him and blah blah blah. Sorry but I’ll be asleep

    • Petunia says:

For anyone claiming they won’t watch, although taking time to post their plans, I call BS. You’ll be watching. If only to snark on his performance the first chance you get.
Wouldn’t it be convenient if you could tear someone you don’t like down enough to make their relevance disappear? I mean, the effort and time to express your disdain and out quip others , if only it could make him go away….., maybe putting that energy into someone you believe in instead of desperately( it comes across so desperate) focusing on some you would supposedly sleep than watch….,,,

  8. Lucrezia says:

Talking of the candidate debates, I find it strange that American politicians from the same party fight in public like that. Here in Oz, public debates are only between members of different parties. People on the same side act friendly until they’re in power and then stab each other in the back.

(Not saying one is any better than the other, just that it’s an utterly different style of politics, you know?)

  9. Nev says:

    Hahahahahahaha cannot wait!!!

  10. Shambles says:

I’m hoping against all hope this turns into something of a stealthy roast… As in, they spend the entire show subtly making fun of him in ways that he’s too up his own a$$ to understand, thus Donald becomes the joke

    *crosses fingers*

    • crtb says:

Then he will do as he always does: complain how he wasn’t treated fairly, call names, say that his skits were harder than everyone else’s, They threw hard blows to him, throw an temper tantrum, Go on twitter and say horrible things about everyone he worked with. I wish the media would ignore him. His stick is getting old. When journalize do their jobs and he isn’t prepared, then they are being mean. It is like dealing with a thee year old.

  11. Jayna says:

It will have huge ratings. I won’t be watching.

  12. L says:

He is such a joke. This is who Amarica is voting for? Mind blown. The racism and sexism is so hard to watch. Not my idea of someone who should be the leader of the free world. You would think that Amarica would want someone with more of a open mind. Big picture. How is he going to work with leaders of other countries? A big part of the job he is applying for.

*i know not all Americans are voting for him. But he still has way to much support which is mind boggling **

    • Lilacflowers says:

The people who support Trump don’t want someone who will work with other countries. They want someone who will order other countries around. They see no value in diplomacy and believe peace is only achieved through bombs.

    • evermoreOriginalhere says:

Not one vote has been cast for anyone yet….Don’t believe the hype. This is the same press that said Romney was going to be President and Obama was going to lose his second term.

  13. Skins says:

I don’t know, I find it hard to watch our nations supposed leaders making buffoons of themselves on SNL. Show is just so try hard anymore

  14. Heat says:

Oh my God! Maybe that will be the night that The Donald finally announces that his entire campaign and run for president has been a great big joke! Then people can go back to real life and get their brains in order again!
Every time I see that man on tv, spewing his crap…and seeing that there are people BUYING said crap, I think about the YouTube video of the kid after going to the dentist: “Is this real life?”
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txqiwrbYGrs

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

Havent you brought up this dentist video on the other Donald posts on here? Yawn.. Not funny

      • Chanteloup says:

ok – That was kinda harsh.

I know what you mean about not believing this is real life, Heat!

      • Chanteloup says:

And who has time to keep track of comments on other Doodied posts, hmm? However much he’s paying, it’s not worth it.

  15. trishy says:

I’m not sure he will be allowed to say anything political at all. Aren’t there rules for broadcast TV about equal access for all candidates? If he says one thing about his campaign or the primaries race, NBC might have to let ALL the potential candidates appear on SNL. Anybody know what the actual rules are? Am I talking out of my ass?

    • trishy says:

Found it: it’s the a Equal Time law.
“The equal-time rule specifies that U.S. radio and television broadcast stations must provide an equivalent opportunity to any opposing political candidates who request it. This means, for example, that if a station gives one free minute to a candidate in prime time, it must do the same for another candidate who requests it.”
Apparently the FCC can provide exemptions for “entertainment” shows on a case by case basis. This might be interesting!

  16. QQ says:

This is the last post and thought i’m giving that xenophobic, orange putrid HUMORLESS ( so how is that even gonna work?) gasbag

A poignant thing about the debate last night, i was shocked by how little Substance and policy was discussed in the repub debate vs last night, meantime this cheeto dusted turd Talking about “THERE WHERE NO STARS IN THERE” cause Right, governance is about stars and Charisma, assh*le

also ya’ll should listen to the last Cracked podcast about the rise of white power groups touches on the scary shit Trump is stirring

    • Chanteloup says:

Thank you, QQ! WE ARE ALL STARS!! And this “cheeto dusted turd” to borrow your turn of phrase, hahahaha, is not fit to even step near our collective light – let alone claim to lead it!

[And further haha, it looks like he is passing one of himself in the 1st picture!] 🙂

  17. Josefa says:

Has anyone watched “The Waldo Moment” episode of Black Mirror? That is what Trump’s run reminds me of and it terrifies me. From whatever angle you look at it, the fact he has any form of support is just terrible.

  18. foxface says:

trump is quite popular with white working class.

  19. Amy Tennant says:

Far from a Trump fan, but I watched some of the sketches from his last hosting job, and they weren’t terrible. They weren’t exceptionally GOOD, but they were no worse than most of the non-actors who hosted. (It was a lot better than Steven Seagal’s, but that’s saying almost nothing). Regardless, I don’t watch his stupid face on anything more than I have to, so I won’t be tuning in. If something happens that’s notable, I’m sure I’ll hear about it somewhere else.

  20. Chanteloup says:

Well, that gives me one more reason NOT to watch #$%^ SNL.

  21. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Kaiser, I watched the entire debate. It was actually friendly. They didn’t yell at each other or make disparaging remarks.
