Tom Hiddleston covers Shakespeare Mag, gets another great ‘ISTL’ trailer

hiddles shakes

Did you know a “Shakespeare Magazine” existed? It exists, and their latest issue features Tom Hiddleston. I suspect Tom was beyond thrilled to do an interview with this magazine in particular. He was BORN to be the cover boy for this mag. He will recite some Shakespeare sonnets to passing ducks if you disagree. There’s also this:

In case you like that sort of thing.

What else? We honestly have several smaller pieces of Hiddles-news, and since Christmas is coming up, I thought: “Why not?” Commence dragonflying! Here are lots of celebrities doing Star Wars-voices, including Hiddles doing an excellent Darth Vader. Do you think he’s seen The Force Awakens? I bet he cried.

And here’s the new international trailer for I Saw the Light. Much like the first trailer, this one is exceptionally well-edited. I would even say this trailer does an even better job of shoehorning a badly-done bio-pic into a more traditional structure.

HuffPo also released this video a few days ago and it’s priceless. He’s trying so hard not to laugh. So lovely and cheeseball.

And finally did you see that Hiddles is following Brie Larson on Twitter? Did you see that he retweeted one of her tweets? I think that social-media-speak for “they’re hitting it.”

Whatever happened to Puddletom dong photos? Doesn’t he do those any more? I miss them.

    • lilacflowers says:

Perhaps he’ll do some as a Christmas present to us.

      • vauvert says:

Lilacflowers, this photo is giving me all the feels. Can I borrow him for the afternoon? He can recite some sonnets while I finish wrapping presents, and then he can give me a foot massage while I have a cup of tea….

    • NUTBALLS says:

Sixer, did you see the LAX photos from Monday? No dong, but LEGS.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

I miss the dong photos. I also think it would be awesome if Jarthy made another appearance. The Hiddles verse is feeling cobwebby.

    • Sixer says:

I didn’t see the photos – I never see anything unless it’s posted on here! But I might google for LEGS.

Oh yes, we need Jarthy. That would be fabulous.

      • NUTBALLS says:

Sixer, Torilla posted them. They’ve been reblogged on Tumblr.

I saw Stems that are begging to be climbed. HOLD.ME.BACK.

And HELL YEAH to the triumphant return of The JArthy.

      • Sixer says:

Hahahahahaha! Nutballs Gets Excited! Merry LEGS Christmas, bella!

      • Nutballs says:

And a Merry LEGGY Christmas to you, Sixer. I’ll be waiting for THE GUNS, with Coriolanus coming here in January. A lady can never have too many guns, y’know.

  2. Leah C says:

A Hiddles post for the holidays. Joy to the World, Indeed!!!

  3. Chaucer says:

I didn’t know Shakespeare Mag was a thing. Brb, getting a subscription. Merry Christmas to me and thank you Kaiser!

  4. Kiki says:

Omg……. I think I an developing a huge crush on TOM Hiddleston … I am still torn on Michael Fassbender (p.s. I still love him) but TOM just does it for me

    • Birdix says:

yes, I may be joining the fold too, reluctantly. I’ve resisted because he reminds me so much of an ex, but I’m starting to understand the appeal…

  5. icerose says:

He has also been nominated for the “renewed” evening standard awards for high rise and I think Crimson Peak is on the list but it could be a an indie award for Crimson Peak.It has been receiving much better reviews and revaluations now the misconception of “horror” film tag has been lifted.Same line up of contestants as usual for evening standard
Not sure if they are public vote or that is just just the musical.reviews-the write ups have not been cleat, Unfortunately I cannot find an accurate link which gives more precise in formation

    • lilacflowers says:

It isn’t a public vote. The list will be whittled down in January and the winners announced in February.

    • Dara says:

*waves at icerose* – it’s good to see/read you again!

Can I say I really don’t understand why High-Rise is even eligible for all these UK awards? It hasn’t had its official release yet right? And yet it got BIFA noms and now these Evening Standard whats-its. Does that mean it will also be eligible for the BAFTA’s this year? So confused…

      • icerose says:

It did have an official opening with red carpet because I was there but they did not release it nationally.Tom is BFI’s ambassador so suspect it helps helps to get him attention???? and some films have been re evaluated since their initial releases or film festival appearances

  6. lilacflowers says:

We are back at home for the holidays. The vending machines in the meadow for the fray and the buffet table on the veranda, for the calmer among us, are stuffed full of seasonal goodies. The dessert display is quite spectacular. Eggnog, mulled cider, poinsettias (vodka, cointreau, cranberry juice and champagne) and chocolate peppermint martinis have been prepared by Colin.

In other Tom news, he made the Evening Standard film awards for best actor for High-Rise and Crimson Peak while High-Rise made the list for Best Film.

    • antipodean says:

Hope the flight back from the island was uneventful, don’t want to upset the thessies. Is Colin on hand to do the Chrimbley cocktails, he is such a trusty fellow. I rather fancy one of Sixer’s caramello vodka in the dishwasher concoctions, do you think he is up to that? Also, any chance of a mince pie with brandy butter?

    • InvaderTak says:

I’m in favor of eating nothing but desserts until New Years.

      • antipodean says:

I’m with you on that one InvaderTak. I wonder if mimif could spare some CROQUEMBOUCHE? Of course I always go for a slice of figgy pudding, and a chocolate log is always welcome. Chrimbley desserts are the best, with lashings of whipped cream natch!

      • lilacflowers says:

We have plenty of CROQUEMBOUCHE and fire hoses with which to ward off Mimif if she tries to horde it. John Oliver gave us the CROQUEMBOUCHE

      • antipodean says:

We could ask Tom/LEGS if he could distract mimif momentarily, so we can get the CROQUEMBOUCHE out of harm’s way. Perhaps the fire hoses will come in handy if we need to turn them on anyone hogging Puddles’ time, there is only so much to go around, dontcha know!

      • lilacflowers says:

I don’t think Mimif is into Tom. The fire hoses are the best option. And potatoes. Shot at her from a spud gun.

  7. NUTBALLS says:

Got my tix for the Brick Shithouse and looking forward to seeing that on the big screen in a couple of weeks.

    • Cranberry says:

What is the Brick Shithouse? Coriolanus?

      • Nutballs says:

If you know what a brick shithouse s is you wouldn’t be asking that question!

        Hell, to the Yes!

        GUNS! STEMS! STUBBLE! ANGRY FACE!

      • Cranberry says:

        @Nutballs Gotcha.
I knew Tom likes 70s funk and has called Hemsworth a brick shithouse when he was mini-Hulk for Thor. But yeah, Tom got his brick shithouse on for Cory and hey, perhaps for Kong too. I mean, he can’t let a big ape show him up. Right?

  8. mayamae says:

The woman in the blue top is Karsi of Game of Thrones. Her part was short but I loved her.

    • lilacflowers says:

Her best line “I f***ing hate Thenns” She was awesome and her part was heartbreaking.

      • mayamae says:

Yes, and I’m convinced she was Thormund’s wife. He said that same line previously, she proclaimed to the group she trusted Thormund, and her two girls were redheads. Didn’t we also see him with her girls as they’re walking to the wall?

  9. Daria Morgendorffer says:

I probably should’ve read the article, but I was too busy looking at the pictures.

    This man is everything.

  10. Mira says:

Why are we so desperate to push tom on brie?
As other commentators have mentioned many times before, Brie has a boyfriend. His name is Alex Greenwald. He is a singer who used to sing in a band called Phantom Planet, they did the title song on the OC. He was the first person she followed when she opened her instagram account a few months ago.

    • Sochan says:

Agreed. The hook-up/dating rumors are so predictable and meaningless.

More on-topic: the 20-second video where he seems to be trying not to laugh is utterly adorable.

      • Mira says:

Its not even a rumour. Its just that he followed her on twitter and retweeted her once. Even if she was a single that would be a lame thing to base a rumour on.

      • Cranberry says:

        +1
The very end is too cute.

        @Mira +1

  11. spidey says:

Can anyone else remember when Tom first appeared in glasses and some folks reckoned they had no lenses in? 🙂

    • lilacflowers says:

Even recently, some have been claiming the lenses are just clear glass. The guy wore them to drive on Top Gear . And to watch Wimbledon. As we hit mid-30s, our vision can change. Seems like that is what is happening to him.

  12. Beach girl says:

I’m hoping this little layover of his had something to do with promo for TNM because I could use a few new Pine pics!! I expect we will start seeing stuff in Jan when networks start promoting their new season. Re Brie my comment didn’t make the last thread. She’s way too smart to do anything silly especially during awards season. Also seems very monogamous and not the FWB type. Wonder how Tom felt being surrounded by hipsters on set? Hipsters, guys from Outta Compton, Sam Jackson, John Goodman, John C Reilly. Quite an eclectic group.

    • spidey says:

Might be even better if it was about another project.

    • Portia says:

I’d love to hangout out with the Skull Island crew! They all looked like they were having so much fun and it makes me think the movie is gonna be some solid good fun too with a Jurassic Park kind of vibe. It’s got a great cast and the director has more promise than the ISTL one. Brie Larson for sure is the kind of friend everyone, if not every gal, needs in their life!

I don’t think Brie and Tom are hooking up. It just seems like these days everyone keeps encouraging the idea of him and his female costars hooking up. Dunno why. I don’t think he hooks up with every costar of his. He may or may not have something going on with Olsen, could be friends, could be more, or it fizzled out. But rest assured, even if he ends up in a committed relationship, we’ll probably still hear hooking up with costars rumors/ blind items because hey that’s the nature of showbiz gossip. Truth is irrelevant and exaggeration and baiting is key.

      • lilacflowers says:

That cast sounds absolutely fantastic and they all seem to be having a great time. Their weekly excursions to paint ball/go-carts/karaoke and possibly tattoo parlors sound like so much fun.

I don’t think there’s anything going on with Brie. I believe men and women can be co-workers and friends without anything sexual getting in the way. However, I often find myself alone in that belief.

    • lilacflowers says:

I suspect the layover had something to do with the long flight from Hawaii to California and the long flight from California to London. Most people I know from the East Coast traveling to/from Hawaii do a stopover night in California. He may have also used the short time to get some business done too such as touching base about PR for ISTL, PR for TNM, checking in with Marvel about Thor3 filming and whether or not he’s in Infinity Wars, and hopefully a meeting to discuss a new project or two. Although, I suspect his next non-blockbuster project will be something small and British or stage work in London. He seems to work to balance out the large with the small.

      • Portia says:

Could be. He seemed to have been in LA for only a day, maybe even less so it’s possible it was just work related. I think it may have been some ISTL work, just based on the guitar he’s carrying and the sighting of him and EO having lunch.

      • lilacflowers says:

He used to bring his guitar with him on location before ISTL. He had a guitar during the filming of The Avengers.

      • Portia says:

Did he? I never noticed that before. Definitely didn’t see it during The Avengers. Interesting. I didn’t even think he owned one before ISTL. Lol well I guess that tells you my level of fangirl *hides face in shame*

      • lilacflowers says:

During some of the interviews for The Avengers, he actually plays the guitar with Chris Hemsworth and somebody else (can’t remember if if was Scarlett, Chris Evans, or Ruffalo with them).

      • Portia says:

I thought that was a guitar they had on set or something, not that it was his own personal one. For some reason, I thought he learned to play it properly for ISTL along with learning to sing with Rodney and could only play a few chords here and there before.

      • lilacflowers says:

He learned to play country-western style from Rodney and Rodney gave him a really nice guitar but he played before. He played in some of the scenes for OLLA. He plays piano too.

      • Anon222 says:

I think it’s a business stopover, for his upcoming blockbuster movies and maybe for some future potential project. Even if he is in Infinity Wars and has his schedule full to middle of 2017, he probably likely already working on picking new projects for the future. Big projects need a lot of lead time. Small projects too, like he was attached to ISTL since 2011, even the actual announcement of his casting comes in middle of 2014. Last year this time, he finished ISTL and flied over to LA for a day to meet JVR & JK Simmons, before heading home to London. I think this year he’s probably doing the same for another project. But while he’s in town, he still need to eat lunch, only natural to eat lunch with someone he knows.

      • pixie-stix says:

Tom played a guitar on a German morning program during Avengers press…Chris and Mark R. were there – good times.

      • Becky says:

I assumed he had the guitar because he took it for the ISTL premiere in Nashville where he was performing.

      • Cranberry says:

I love how he keeps getting these great gifts from the movies he’s worked on like the boots from the horse trainers on Thor and the guitar from Rodney and ISTL. And true to Tom, he just keeps trucking them around where ever he goes.

Yes, I’m a fan of the boots, and I don’t care how many times he wears them – he looks good!

      • spidey says:

I think he may also have got to keep a guitar from OLLA, I’m not sure.

      • spidey says:

I think he may also have got to keep a guitar from OLLA, I’m not sure.

Sorry don’t know how the duplicate happened and I can’t delete it

      • lilacflowers says:

@Becky, very likely if he didn’t go home after that premiere.

  13. Dara says:

Happy Holidays everyone! I’ve enjoyed spending the Tompocalypse with y’all and here’s hoping 2016 brings us more of the same.

    • lilacflowers says:

      Happy Holidays, Dara!

      • browniecakes says:

Happy Holidays everybody! Who knows what TH and Kaiser will have us blogging about in 2016! All the best to you.

    • KTE says:

I believe he has said that the piano was really his instrument but that he noodled around on guitar as a student and taught himself a bit.

If he was offered ISTL in 2011 after War Horse came out he might have started practicing his guitar playing way back then.

    • NUTBALLS says:

Happy Holidays to you Dara and to the lovely Celebitches who gather here!

    • Cranberry says:

Oh you guys are so sweet. Thanks for the Hiddle thread Kaiser – how else would I make it through the holidays.

      Happy Hiddledays everybody.

    • icerose says:

Dara you too -I hope Tom is stopping over to discuss new roles! because other than Marvel he has nothing else pencilled in or rumoured

  14. Beach girl says:

    Happy Holidays everyone!!

  15. P'enny says:

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year my dear Hiddle-lovers, i am looking forward to 2016 and loads of Hiddles gossip ‘movie’ gossip. i have to admit the THEO stuff bores me, but i am looking forward to loads of High Rise and ISTL promotion and on-set pics for Thor 3 and Skull Island. And, i am hoping somewhere next year he can squeeze in an Independent movie.

And, last but not least The Night Manager…. i am getting gooey thinking about it. 😀

    • spidey says:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you too, and thank you P’enny.

      (Formerly Joe Spider)

    • lilacflowers says:

Merry Christmas, dear P’enny. Yes, The Night Manager will make 2016 a spectacular year and High-Rise and ISTL will be extra candy.

    • NUTBALLS says:

Yes, bring on The Night Manager… I’m expecting it to be good.

      Guns, baby… GUNS!

      and stubble.

    • Cranberry says:

Oops, stepped in something . . . . cleans P’enny off the floor after Night Manager meltdown.

      Merry Christmas everyone 😛

    • icerose says:

Me to Iive for indie movie news

  16. Ninette says:

    Happy Yule everyone 🙂

    My Hiddles hopes for 2016:

    – That I Saw The Light and The Night Manager will be good and succesfull. It would be great for Tom to get mainstream recognition for something outside of marvel.

    – If the THEO saga continues into the new year, I hope there will be some bigger stories/rumors, like a baby or getting a house together. The possible twitter sightings are getting a little boring.

  17. icerose says:

Happy Holidays Everyone and look out for the Night Manager on the BBC in February -the perfect gift for Xmas to add to many other unexpected presents

  18. Cranberry says:

I hope he got his freak on with some of those SI party hoz. He’s worked hard this year and deserves it. And I deserve sex dreams with trapezes and safety nets in them.
You know, cause the legs. ;D

  19. Beach girl says:

Hey ladies promo pics from TNM have dropped. Ent Weekly and Empire. AMC has it scheduled in APril.

    • Waitwhat says:

And he looks absolutely luscious, doesn’t he? The motorcycle jacket and jeans. The blue linen shirt. That suit.

Apparently he and Hugh Laurie have a bromance going on (shock, surprise).

February in the UK on BBC One. Bring on Jonathan Pine.
