Just think, one year ago we were knee-deep in Benedict Cumberbatch’s Oscar campaign and sudden, out-of-nowhere engagement to Sophie Hunter. Now Benedict is a father (to son Christopher) and happily settled down with his wife. He’s also learned how to be a bit quieter, which is a relief after the Cumberinsanity last year. Still, there are some pieces of Cumbernews, so let’s get to it.
Red Carpet Fashion Awards has named Benedict and Sophie the best-dressed couple of the year. At first I was like “Them? Really?” But I’m honestly struggling to think of a couple that out-styled them in 2015. You could say Beyonce and Jay-Z, but they weren’t doing many red carpets. You could say Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, but we didn’t see much of them together this year either. Brangelina? Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson? Kimye? Yeah, I’m actually okay with saying The HunterBatch out-styled all of them.
That’s not the only style award either – Benedict is apparently seen as the third-most stylish man in the UK. #1 is David Beckham, then Idris Elba, then Benedict and Daniel Craig tie for #3. I always thought Benedict’s red carpet style, pre-Sophie, was fine. It was his casual style that sucked, although I think Sophie has definitely been doing some work with his wardrobe (and his hair) overall.
Benedict was also seen out with his parents in Cotswolds – go here to see the photos. His hair looks good there! I guess he has a week or two off from Doctor Strange.

I think we saw Rachel and Daniel often enough to consider them best dressed. She wore that white floral dress to a premier where she looks smoking, that alone should give them the title.

Huh? This must be like the Golden Globes or the Critic’s Choice Awards — more about popularity than being best dressed. Sophie’s very hit and miss. Bendy’s casual style is usually a bit off.
Hannah Bagshawe out-fashion’s Sophie at any event. Redmayne, though a bit out in left field with his suits, is at least more interesting and his casual style is spot on.
Hannah and Eddie would be my pick too – their style choices always seem to complement each other and they look good standing next to one another. But maybe it only counts if both partners are famous? Then again, that would probably disqualify Sophie so who knows.
Casual Eddie, especially Airport Eddie, is drool-worthy and I totally covet that awesome suitcase that he carries.

Perhaps it is more about him than her? He does always look great in a suit and a tux. Maybe they added them up and averaged them out and got a high number that way? 🙂

David and Victoria Beckham are better dressed than the Cumberbatch’s.
That was what I was going to say, the Beckhams style even if they don’t get pap that much is always on point. Even their kids are always dressed to impress, little Harper looks so cute all the time. For me the Beckhams, Diane Kruger/Joshua Jackson (if they’re still together), the Bradys, & I wish they were still together but Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone looked good.
Have mercy on me please…..every time I see them side by side I think damn they look like sister and brother. Look close. Maybe they love themselves and were looking for someone like them as a partner! This is even weirder…..she also resembles Tracey Nelson from way back when. Ricky Nelson’s daughter…..my mom always said I had a vivid imagination!

She’s always better dressed? Always? In what universe? The man can wear the heck out of a tux, and it’s hard for a man to make obviously wrong choices. Her casual style is just as bad as his, but he looks sharp on the red carpet, while she… has pockets.
Yeah, she usually looks pretty great. Him, not so much.
This is just hilarious. Has everyone forgotten how he dresses when he’s on his own time? He dresses beautifully for events and appearances because someone else is picking out his clothes. Someone who isn’t Sophie, who needs help desperately. Although I am getting used to the black tights.
Now that they’ve received accolades for their bizarre lack of style, they may get more confident and start dressing even funnier, I.e. Sophie may wear a total octopus ensemble, not just the Squidward hat from her video.

Red Carpet Fashion Awards is interesting. There were some of the online voting awards this year that were interesting to say the least. Zayn Malik won best dressed male over Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston, and Daniel Craig. It was rather obvious that his fangirls were out in full force for that. The online vote for best dressed of the year were out there, especially one Emma Stone look.
Eddie Redmayne was voted best dressed male of the year, its just that that look by the 1D kidw was the top single look of the year. The editor chose that as her top mensware look as well.
They spent the day visiting Great Ormond Street, which is lovely. No press or photographers or anything, the only reason it got out is one of the mums of a patient tweeted about it. Of course everyone involved including the sick kids are being torn apart on Tumblr. *don’t want to live in this world anymore*

Those online sites know very well they are not the best dressed couple, but what a good way to get many clicks, talked and rebbloged by the fandom good, bad or ugly. If I was a magazine or newspaper owner, I would attach cumberbatch and his wife to any articles; religion, politics, you name it because tumblr would find it. I have some great clickbait examples for them. (snark)
Religion: BC demands to replace the pope and his wife be named a saint after all their baby was born like little Jesus through immaculate conception. He would not dare touch SH according to some people.
Royal: BC and his wife will perform Williams and Kate duties when they are on vacation.
Politic: BC vows to stop Trump And Clinton so he and his wife can become the first British couple to rule the US since whenever.
Charity: BC bought Downtown Abbey mansion to house Syrian refugees and his wife is teaching them British etiquette so they can blend in. She has her mood board on hands.
Telly guide: BC threatens to never appear on television if all stations do not close around the world on January 1st with exception of the ones showing Sherlock.
Animal: BC orders the destruction of all lizards and otters. His wife orders the destruction of all octopus and YouTube. I do not know why.
They are not even close to being the best dressed. He only dresses nicely when his stylist picks his clothes (and sometimes not even then, as we can see from photos above), otherwise he wears the same crinkly blue shirt for days. As for his wife, let’s not even go there: florals with pockets, a white sheet with shower rings and that terrible crocheted tea cosy she was wearing at the CBEs.
They are clickbait, which is why they got the vote.
Martin Freeman and his partner can out-style the Batches with their eyes closed. At least they are quirky and have a sense of fun in what they wear, while Ben and Sophie are so beige it hurts.
