There was a surprising amount of GOTH DRAMA at the Golden Globes, which pleases the 14-year-old goth girl inside me. For my money, Kirsten Dunst in this Valentino was one of the best of the “black gown” looks, if not one of the best gowns of the evening overall. This gown could have gone so wrong, but the fit was perfect, her body looked amazing and her styling was completely on-point. She had (arguably) the best smoky eye of the night. God, I really wanted her to win for Fargo. She was amazing in Fargo!!! Also: she had the best accessory with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund!
Emilia Clarke in Valentino, trying to bring the drama and the drama just was not brought. Instead, this whole thing is a f—king mess. It’s actually kind of funny? I mean, she’s wearing a gown that has a buttoned bib/dickie, for goodness sake. Emilia is a tiny woman – as we’ve seen on Game of Thrones – and this Valentino makes her look about 30 pounds heavier than she actually is. The built-in sheer cape is also an awful feature, although when I was a 14-year-old goth girl, I would have loved it.

So sick of that cape look. It looks good on just about no one. Paltrow rocked it years ago, and that once was enough.
You haven’t seen many cape dresses then because Goop’s dress was really good, but not the best.. So many women ROCK the cape dress. Trick is Shoulders back and head up. Try 68th Cannes (NOT Isabella R.) or just a basic google search.
Also, Lupita, Amy Adams (the pink and the red and black dresses). There are too many great examples.

Yes! I was knocked over by how gorgeous she looked. I LOVE her dress, hair is beautiful, make-up…everything. Perfection.
Her rack looks amazing. If a Kardashian wore this, it would look trashy. But she looks great. I don’t watch AHS but I’m still convinced Fargo is the height of TV and she was great. So was Hanzee. And Patrick Wilson. And Ted Dansen. Hope that show got the love it deserves!
I think the neckline looks trashy on her too. There is just no way a neckline this deep can look good, IMO. Everything else looks great.
@Locke Lamora – I don’t think the neckline looks trashy on Kirsten, and that’s because she wears it with coolness and confidence – dress may have a deep neckline, but she doesn’t succumb to the Kardashian syndrome of posing with her chest and ass sticking out as if to indicate to the public ‘here are my tits and ass’.
She looks comfortable in it, and that makes ALL the difference.

Wow. Neither. They are both unrecognizable. Kirsten Dunst face looks off, but that could be her hair and makeup. I actually had to google Emilia just to make sure. How do you go wrong with a black dress, a black dress by Valentino. Not my favorite designer, but please!
I love Kristen dress. The bracelet is supposed to fit close to her wrist n not hanging off. I thought that her face looked different, also.
The cape dress is ugly. The designers should make it stop.

i personally think that much cleavage looks better on someone with smaller boobs, however she seems to pull it off.
I’m pretty much ALL underboob and have been since my late teens… so I’m thrilled that so many people loved her look. After seeing so many thin women taped into dresses that showed off 75% of their A/B-cups, it was such a relief when Kirsten arrived and rocked a similar look with boobs that look more like mine. All the bodies looked healthy and gorgeous, including hers.
I know certain designs are more flattering on certain features (and it’s subjective), so I try not to dissect this constant notion that women with bigger busts should cover themselves up (especially if they show signs of — *gasp* — gravity). But I hope society — and as a result, fashion — evolves past the urge to cover up any “imperfections” that deviate from a very, very specific body type. She’s young and fit, and “underboob” is what happens when your breast tissue obeys the laws of physics.

Who beat Kirsten for Fargo? She so deserved to win! She looks amazing, a bit different for her to go so heavy/goth but she looks gorgeous. Her man candy is almost too pretty though, I would worry he was upstaging me! I feel for Emilia, she’s so petite and she hasn’t accepted she can’t pull off certain ott looks yet. Or she just picks the wrong ones – with a different bodice and less skirt this might have been ok.
I can’t believe they gave the award to Gaga over Kirsten. That was a travesty on the highest level.

Kirsten’s dress is far superior to Emilia’s, but I have to say I get so tired of seeing ridiculously revealing gowns. This is just too much cleavage. Instead of thinking, “Oh, she looks lovely!” one thinks “Oh, look, she’s showing off her boobs.”

fun fact: I saw Kirsten in person once, like 10 years ago at a music festival, and her skin was freaking flawless even though it was sweaty and gross out there and she obviously had no makeup on (I was close enough to tell).

I’m not normally a fan of cut-to-the-navel dresses, but this one is perfection on her – everything from the fit and flow, to those strings across the stop, to the fact that she actually has pretty visible boobs, to just her body language. And the hair and makeup are perfect, too.
She looks great. Valentino seems to give people dresses based on how they feel about someone – if they like you, then you get a nice dress. If they don’t like you…well, you can still tell folks that you’re wearing a Valentino. So they must like Kirsten Dunst.

I think that’s the best Kiki ever looked tbh. As a former goth girl myself, I’ve always had a thing for very pale women in black. Her eyes look so piercing and gorgeous, too.
Fangs’ dress is better, but Emilia has class. I’ll never get over old Hollywood embracing, even in the slightest, white trash too lazy to get braces *shaking my head* Pure, trailer park Barbie, that one.
Kirsten rocked that dress and had the best look of the evening. Emilia *sigh* she’s a pretty girl but has shit for style, I have yet to see her in something that actually suits her.
Kristen gets a 10 including hunky boyfriend. The other one reminded me of a costume from Victor/Victoria that Julie Andrews wore and better.
Kirsten is like actor’s Kate Moss, really cleans up well, keeps doing good work and gets some real hotties along the way.
