Last week, Tom Brady’s comeback season – following Deflategate and a particular bad year for gossip about his marriage – was over after the New England Patriots lost to the Denver Broncos at the AFC Championships. The Broncos will play the Panthers at the Super Bowl next weekend. Many Patriots fans were and are really sad about it. But Tom Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen, didn’t stick around long enough to help her husband through a difficult week. Nope. Gisele posted the above Instagram last week from Brazil. She flew home to Brazil just a few days after the Pats lost. Which made some people wonder if Gisele and Tom’s marriage drama is still happening. So, People Magazine did a story about how Tom and Gisele are okay, but that’s only because they both live hyper-focused lives.
The Patriots might have gotten knocked out of the NFL playoffs, but quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen are in a good place, a source tells PEOPLE. Bündchen, 35, posted a supportive Instagram of her husband cuddling their two children Monday after his big loss – but was spotted flying solo to Brazil the next day. Still, the source says the trip doesn’t spell trouble for the stars’ marriage, explaining that she’s on her way back to Boston and had a pre-scheduled “obligation” in her home country.
“She probably timed it right after the game thinking they were going to win,” the source explains. “If they were going to go to the Super Bowl, then she could have been back in time and he would have been with his team this whole time, anyway.”
“He’s obsessed with football. And she is extremely focused on her body, so she goes to the gym every morning,” the source says of their life together. “That chef comes like clockwork every day. She runs a tight ship. She works out, goes home, eats, gets the kids. They live this focused, focused, focused life. If there was any tension between them, it would be because of his obsession with football … especially after Deflategate. I think his legacy is a big thing for him and he didn’t want his reputation tarnished.”
It feels like People Magazine is doing a publicist a favor by exclaiming loudly “NOTHING TO SEE HERE, EVERYTHING IS FINE” but they’re still dishing some shady gossip by whispering “He’s obsessed with football. And she is extremely focused on her body…” Like, that’s all they have going on. She’s all about her appearance. He’s all about football. She runs a tight ship. He’s focused on football. She’s in Brazil. He’s thinking about his legacy. Also: just after People Magazine published this story last Friday, Gisele flew home in a hurry for a happy-family photo op.

Exactly. I’m not a fan of either of them but they have made a very comfortable life by being disciplined and focused. In that respect they are probably well matched.
I think they are indeed well matched and have their own standards for their marriage. I find both of them kind of cold and high maintenance, which is why I think they’re very well suited for each other.
It’s kind of annoying when people say “they must be having problems in their marriage” while imposing some arbitrary standards for a marriage. They can do what works for them. Their life, their marriage.
Precisely. These two “obsessions” are their moneymakers. I find them smug and unlikeable, but this seems like the most reasonable thing that they may do.

Bingo. We shall see what shape the marriage is in after she and he have to retire, having aged out of those professions, but by then, how many of us will care? Will they make the transition to socialites, or is their celebrity entirely dependent on their ability to remain young and strong?

Afterwards I would get a massage and a facial. Nap. Then see my therapist. Ah, what a life. My brain may atrophe but not my looks!

I thought there is room for only one narcissistic personality in a marriage.
Let’s just distill her down to a workout every day and healthy eating and shad it as obsessed, and not include the fact that she also has a thriving career and children she adores and seems to be a great mother and stepmother and supportive wife all these years.
Can I have her hair? Hair that looks as effortless as that tends to take a lot of work…
Also, that is a very clever exercise she’s doing in the photograph – it’s using lots of different muscle groups, plus working on coordination and balance at the same time. Giselle has a good trainer.
I was was focusing on the exercise move, too, lol. I was wondering what the whole thing was — is she bringing her arm and leg in toward her core and then extending out again? Or is she staying extended and maybe lifting her leg and arm? Inquiring minds want to know!
It’s a Pilates move. You extend like that repeatedly for a number of counts, then switch. Really stretches the obliques.
You can, just purchase the same extensions she uses.
I don’t get it. Yeah I’m sure it’s disappointing for him that they lost. But it’s not the first time he didn’t make it to the super bowl. So is she supposed to cancel all commitments and stay home and baby him for a month because he’s sad? I’m not a fan of either one, and maybe they have legitimate issues, but to me, this would not be the example I would use as proof.
But of course. She’s his wife after all, so she needs to always be available to him, to stroke hus ego and make sure he’s never sad. If she doesn’t, she’s a terrible wife and will cause their marriage to end.

The day after the loss, Giselle issued a thank you to Patriots fans. A few days later, Tom issued a handwritten letter to fans, thanking them, on his Facebook page, which the local papers picked up and reprinted. Interesting that neither of those get mentioned.
And we’ve moved on from the season being over. We can’t win every championship every year. The New England area has had a great run with 4 Super Bowl championships, 3 World Series championships, a Stanley Cup, and a NBA championship in 15 years. We’re good. The Beanpot Hockey tourney starts tonight. Our basketball team is fun to watch and the trucks leave Fenway in a few days. Hope springs eternal. Tom will be back next season and maybe we’ll actually have an offensive line to protect him.

I’m a New Yorker and I could easily answer back with 2 NY hockey wins, 2 NBA championships, 4 NFL SB’s, 2 worlds series and 27 Worlds Series title. Yeah, I know it didn’t all happen within the last 15 years except for the 2 SB’s where the Giants beat The Patriots and do I really need to count the World Series titles with the Yanks?
And I used to be one of those screaming that Brady can’t take a hit because he is so used to his teammates protecting him but this year he took some hits and he still couldn’t handle it. Remember the last SB against the Giants that they actually came up with a term called Bradying? When he got hit he just sat there. Meanwhile Manning was taking all kinds of hits and just got right back up. The Pats were good at protecting their QB, what happen this season?
But yeah, Go Panthers even though I’m torn.
