Dianna Agron debuts her engagement ring: gorgeous or cocktail ring?

When Glee alum Dianna Agron and Mumford and Sons guitarist Winston Marshall got engaged over the holiday season in 2015, we didn’t catch a glimpse of the engagement ring. And, strangely enough, Dianna didn’t post anything to social media. Well, you can now satisfy your curiosity as to what the ring looks like, as Dianna stepped out on Monday flashing the ring. When the 29-year-old actress showed up at Erdem’s runway show at London Fashion Week on Monday, she made sure her ring was front and center. It was hard to miss, as it’s at least a few carats and set in rose gold. They say an engagement ring is supposed to cost a man 3 months of his salary, and with the success of his band, I’m sure Winston went above and beyond.

The couple have yet to set a wedding date, but Dianna has been spotted wearing a wedding dress. Well, it was on the set of her latest project, the film Novitiate. In the film, set in the 1960s, Dianna plays a soon-to-be nun. Back in the day, when a woman became a nun, they would wear a wedding dress, symbolizing their “marriage” to Jesus. I know this because I am Catholic and I was a big fan of the 1984 TV movie Shattered Vows with Valerie Bertinelli (as I recall, we actually watched that movie when I was in Catholic high school). Suffice it to say, Dianna is going to make a radiant bride.

Meanwhile, today on set. #NOVITIATE

The last time I got engaged, social media wasn’t a “thing”, so I couldn’t show off my gorgeous engagement ring the minute it was slipped on my finger, but if I had Twitter and Instagram back then, I wouldn’t have been able to post pictures of it fast enough. Was Dianna just being blasé or did Winston propose before he (or she) selected a ring? Doesn’t really matter. It’s big. I like the simplicity of it, but it looks more like a cocktail ring to me (could be because she has such tiny hands.) Maybe it’s the setting? I’m not a fan of Mumford and Sons, but they did get kicked out of my hometown of Atlanta’s most notorious strip club a few years ago, so they have my respect! Congratulations to Dianna and Winston!

I don’t even know who she is, but that’s ugly. With all the money and supposed creativity actresses and actors have, one would think they’d use a bit more imagination in choosing ring. If I ever get another setting for my engagement ring, I’m putting it into a vintage Art Deco engagement ring setting.

I think some like simplicity, just the stone and the band.
      To each her own.

    • Livealot says:

Yea. I just came to say that I misread her name as Argon as in the oil and thought that was cool. ((Shrug))

    • Livealot says:

Yea. Not sure who she is either and I just came to say that I misread her name as Argon as in the oil and thought that was cool. ((Shrug))

    • Linn says:

She was on Glee but I don’t think she ever had much success with other things.

I like the ring although I probably wouldn’t want to wear it all the time. But that’s no surprise as I’m not really into engagement rings to begin with.

    • Farhi says:

I like he simplicity of it. Though I don’t particularly like the super yellow gold. I think in a different color it would’ve been better,

  2. minx says:

Pretty. I’m not a big rose gold fan, but it’s not my engagement ring.

  3. Evil Owl says:

I don’t have many thoughts on Diana except that she was the least annoying person on Glee. Congrats to them!

    • Kim says:

Huh? She is mediocre, pretentious and a bore. At least some of the others have a personality and some talent.

  4. OSTONE says:

Better to what I’ve seen for celebrities. I still think my favorite celebrity engagement ring is Blake Lively. Georgia Peach here as well, Corey!

    • Shambles says:

I’m an ATLien as well. What’s up, Corey!

      • Amy Tennant says:

        Same here, y’all!

      • Kate says:

Me too!! Native! Well, I live at the beach in Florida now but I lived in Atlanta for 30 years!

      • Chicken says:

Fellow Atlantan here. But Mumford and Sons do not have my respect for getting kicked out of the Clermont! They were trying to take pictures, and were repeatedly asked to stop, which is just super douchey of them. You don’t fuck with Blondie and Goldilocks, man.

  5. Erinn says:

I actually like it. It’s kind of different, but still simple – despite being huge. I can’t even imagine wearing a diamond that big – mines just under half a carat, and I’m terrified of losing it.

  6. ldub says:

It’s the setting. If it was a thinner band and the stone was set in prongs it may look better.

Also, she messes with her cuticles. Stars they’re just like us….or whatever.

“They say an engagement ring is supposed to cost a man 3 months of his salary”

Who the hell makes up these stupid “rules”?

    • Kate says:

DeBeers. It was an ad campaign to sell diamonds.

    • QQ says:

I would Kill my bf if he got me something worth 3 months of his salary, that’s mad unnecessary, and he knows this too!! that is just crazysauce when you can find beautiful stuff for a fraction of the price, and either invest that money or rock a kick ass Honeymoon or put a down payment for something more substantial ( car/house/wedding things) also have a gf that told her bf THIS is where you can buy a ring (and it was moissanite, under 400 bucks HUGE and Gorgeous)

    • Nymeria says:

Yep. Marketing scheme, pure and simple. DeBeers hoards diamonds and artificially jacks up the price of diamonds. Diamonds are actually one of the most common stones on Earth.

  8. JFresh says:

Somehow it does indeed look quite a bit like a cocktail ring. Maybe it looks better in person.

  9. Lucy2 says:

I always heard two months salary, but in general think the rule is ridiculous.
Her ring is OK, I’m in emerald cut fan. She is so pretty, and seems like a nice woman.

    • Kate says:

The two months salary idea was an ad campaign by debeers, as was the entire diamond engagement movement. Diamond engagement rings weren’t popular until the 1920s or 1930s, I believe. I could be wrong on the date but it’s fairly recent.

  10. Kate says:

Well I’ll call it. It’s tacky.

  11. JulieM says:

I like the ring; it looks like an antique/estate old mine cut diamond. If it is, better for the environment.

  12. kimbers says:

Dont care about rings- not THAT girl-cant wait to see her movie! Loved her in Family!

  13. lila fowler says:

I really don’t like it. I hate that type of gold, it looks cheap as hell.

  14. Lucy says:

Congrats to both! I’ve always liked her a lot. She’s always ruled out as “basic/bland”, but I like her simplicity. And she did look quite badass in one of the last vídeos from The Killers!

  15. Sumodo1 says:

Is it a cluster ring? One diamond that’s irregular? I just can’t tell.

  16. Sarah01 says:

Love the ring, it’s beautiful. Simple and classic. I don’t like fancy cuts on any stone except for trillion on Alexandrite.
De beers marketing was genius, decades later many people are still doing the diamond engagement ring.
They have the monopoly on diamonds and control its availiblity and amount they are not rare at all.

  17. Mia4s says:

Last I heard of this girl she tried acting in a play in London. The reviews were SAVAGELY awful. Her shot at movies bombed. Hopefully it’s a happy marriage because I doubt it’s going to be much of a career.

    • Kim says:

Becasue she is pretty but basic she keeps getting parts in movies that go straight to cable. She only gets part becasue she is pretty and simple.

  18. Leah says:

All those mumford and sons guys marry hollywood actresses

  19. Farhi says:

I don’t know anything about her other than I’ve seen her on some red carpet interacting with fans. It was super cold and most celebrities just swooshed by with a wave but she spent a lot of time there in the freezing cold wearing only a gown and she was super nice. I like her for it.

  20. kri says:

The fact that Mumford and Sons got kicked out of a strip club has me reeling. That’s all.

  21. Bridget says:

I like Kylie Minogue’s engagement ring much more. For some reason I’m just not into the big honking diamonds.

  22. cakecakecake says:

I LOVE it, simple but still a POW!!!

not the same old rings that everyone has been wearing for the last 5yrs.

  23. lovelym09 says:

I like it! So unique and beautiful
